Classification - inheritance by batch of material classification

Is there a way to have the classification settings i.e. values, for a material automatically inherited by a batch created for that material ?
And if so:
What are the pre-requisites ? e.g. presumably both objects must have the same classifications
Where are the settings to achieve this and what settings to make ?
Thanks

do your customizing in IMG > Logistics General > batch management > Specify Batch Level and Activate Status Management
there is a button for initial status for new batch.

  • Batch at material level

    Hi all,
I want to use batch at material level.
i.e. for every material number batch should start from the same series.
e.g. If I want to use batch for 5 materials say A,B,C,D,E.
And I have given batch number range as 0000000001 to 9999999999, then when I do GR for A, then first batch shud be
0000000001, after this if I receive mat B, its batch should also b 0000000001. Then again if I receive mat A, then next batch shud b 0000000002, again next if I receive mat C, then its first batch shud b 0000000001.
Will it b possible if I activate batch at material level or need some other configurations also?

Unfortunately SAP does not fulfill your requirement via a configuration. But there is the option of a user exit that gives you enough flexibility.
You can use SAP enhancement  SAPLV01Z for this purpose.
o   EXIT_SAPLV01Z_001. You use this exit to replace the number range
object and/or interval proposed by the system with your own number
        range object and/or interval.
In addition, you can, for instance, stop the system from assigning
an internal number depending on the material or plant. You can also
use this exit to stop the dialog box from appearing.
o   EXIT_SAPLV01Z_002. Using this exit, you can either change the number
assigned by the system, or assign your own number.
Check the documentation at this node in IMG for more information:
Logistics - General > Batch Management > Batch Number Assignment > Configure Customer Exits for Intern. Batch Number Assignment
Your requirement is a generic one and often used in the food industry.

  • QM In-Process Inspection for Batch Managed Material

    Hi,
I have a issue related to UD of In-Process inspection for batch managed material. The production process is discrete manufacting for a cold rolling mill. A production order can have mutiple coils as per the production amount. To track the individual coil , batch management has ben activated. We have both in-process as well as inspection after production here.
For inspection after production we are fine as we are doing partial confirmation after every coil and have separate inspection lot having different batch number.
But for in-process I can have only one inspection lot for the production order (created on release of the production order). I can do the result recording but while trying to do UD u2013 it is asking for a batch number as the material is batch managed. W/o entering the batch number system is not allowing me to do the UD.
Is there any solution/work around of this problem.
    -Regards
    ashim

    Hi Ashim,
you raised a very good question? i am helpless here to execute same scenario,
but i disussed with my QM guy here, he said, once the material is batch managed then it has to ahve batch in UD.
so i discussed ur case, which is very much valid for heavy ind like cement and all,
so what i suggest, u create a dummy batch in the UD for in process (no inventory posting)
and at confimation give ur usual batch (if system propose the dummy batch which u give in the UD for inprocess, try to change there--- i hope it should allow)
i would really like to here answer from u for this.
try to do as suggested, and let me know the results.

  • Batch-Specific Material Units of Measure

    Hi all,
Can anybody guide me on Batch-Specific Material Units of Measure----Product/proportion units???
What are the settings required & how it works??
    Regards,
    Manish

    Hi Manish,
The batch specific UoM is used in the process industry where you need to know a characteristic of a batch which is used in evaluating the batch, like concentration or potency. For example, in a sugar syrup, the concentration of sugar may vary and hence it is required to knoe how much sugar is there in the syrup. So you make sugar concentrate as a characteristic in the batch class and use it in the proportionate UoM. So whenever you fill the value of the sugar concentrate in the batch master, how much sugar is there in the syrup is known.
    1.     Activate the use of batch-specific units of measure
Activate active ingredient management in Customizing using Transaction OMWS. Activate the use of batch-specific units of measure. This allows you to maintain proportion and product units in the material and use them in logistical processes.
    2.     Set up the base and proportion/product unit
In Customizing, the proportion/product unit needs to be created as a unit of measurement. Enter your active ingredient unit of measure under the menu path General Settings  Units of measurement
    3. Create Batch Class and Characteristics
    4. Assign the class to the material master.
Also set up proportion UoM in additional data of material master. Use the required batch char]acteristics.
So whenever you a Goods receipt you may enter the batch characteristics manually. Or if you are using QM, you may have to activate the link between batch characteristics and inspection characteristics.
Check the stock in proportionale UoM in MMBE

  • Activating batch-specific material unit of measure

    Hi all,
my client has a SAP ECC 5.0 system with over 30 plants, which are currently using batch management. For a new plant we have the need to work with the batch-specific material unit of measure to have KG as base UOM and to calculate the quantity of bags regarding the batch specific conversion factor.
Does anybody now which impact will follow on the current batch management and stock in the other plants after activating the batch-specific material unit of measure in the Customizing?
    Thanks in advance,
    Robert

    Hey all,
I found something in standard SAP... You can use a dependency on the level of the batch class and in there it is possible to write some calculation code.
    Thanks for the input,

  • Automatic activation of batch during material master creation

    Dear All
Is it possible to activate batch management in material master while creation. This is required for specific material type and field MARA-XCHPF should be set automatically.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Yogesh

    Dear,
In OMS9 field for batch management MARC-XCHPF
first check which field selection key is assigned to your material type in the filed slection group 212 (OMSR) there is field called MARA-XCHPF, and MARC-XCHPF.
couble click on these fields and there is an indicator " prapose field content" , you need to select that indicator.

    Hi,
1:  Check the Status of Article in MMBE for total batches of the article.
2:  There should not be any open Purchase Order Use SE16 & Table EKPO Give the Article
Number for which we have to find the Open Pos; Alternatively ME2M can also be used
3:  There should not be any Sales Order. Use SE16 & Table VBAP Give the Article Number for
Which we have to find the Open Sales Orders
4:  There should not be any Purchase Requisition. Use SE16 & Table EBAN Give the Article
Number for which we have to find the Open PRs
5:  There should be no Stock in Transit MB5T
6:  There should be no Plant availability Stock MB53
7:  There should be no Reservation MB25
8:  Previous Period Stock should be zero. Use MM03 with Plant Stock & Storage Loc. View.
If Stock Exists follow the Procedure:
u2022     If previous period stocks exist, we can make a withdrawal posting as follows. Post the same amount to current period stock (for example, using movement type 561) so that previous period stock and current period stock are identical.
u2022     Make a withdrawal posting in the previous period for the stock together with posting date (for example, using movement type 562).
9:  Stock requirement should be zero MD04
10: There should be no open Delivery Use SE16 & Table LIPS
11: There should be no open Warehouse Transfer Request Use SE16 & Table LTBP or LTAP
12: The Batch Corresponding to the plant for the article has to be set for deletion indicator
          Tcode: MSC2N
13: Once the batch deletion indicator is set, Archive all batches for the article.
If any of the above Stock Exists it has to be closed; If Any of the stock exists we cannot uncheck the batch management indicator.
After closing all the open items; the related business documents viz Purchase Orders, Delivery, etc have to be archived.

  • Printing mataerial description for batch split material at delivery level

    Hi all,
Here i am printing the material description which is maintained in the item level at sales order level. For each material they have maintained two material descripption.I am not able to display the second material description in my export invoice whenever the material is splited into batch ie batch split at delivery level. so please can anyone help me regarding this, I am not able to get it from long time.
    Regards,
    madhu

    Hi,
You can create a two folders for printing the line items, one folder for the normal line-items and the other folder for printing the BAtch-Split Items. you can do this by putting condition as UEPOS NE 0 or UEPOS EQ 0. You can include the Item-Description of the Batch-Splitted item in the Corresponding folder, so when there will be a batchsplit it will get printed.

    How to do this scenario?
i think it will work through batch specific UOM.
PLS HELP ME HOW TO CONFIGURE BATCH SPECIFIC UOM BY STEP BY STEP  FOR THIS SCENARIO
    THANKS,

    Hi Bhaskar,
U definitely need batch specific unit of measure for ur scenario.  do the following config
    1) Activate batch specific unit of measure
    2) Create a new batch specific unit of measure in "Edit batch specific unit of measure"
    3) Define calculation of proportion quantity from base qty
    4) Maintain the batch specific uom in material master
    5) Create class with CL02 for batch specific uom - assign relevant characteristic in this class
    6) Assign this class to material
At the time of MIGO select the class and assign the new conversion factor
U can change the conversion factor with MSC2N also

  • Batch for material in plant already exists

    Hi ,
When create a goods reciept for material ABBBBB in plant X001 and sloc 0001 for the first time in a day , system automatically creates a batch number .
When I try to create a goods reciept for the same material in same plant/sloc combination , system gives me an message "Batch for the material already exists in plant " . and it stops me from going to enter values for characteristics .
But system creates a batch automatically when I recieve the same material into same plant with different sloc .
Can anyone suggest me the config or userexit so that system allows me to create a batch with a warning message .
    Thanks ,

    HI
When u r creating batch from MSC1N, u r maintaing for combination of material, batch, plant, storage location. So with this combination u find already existing batch when u enter same material again for plant and sto location combination.
Now when u change the storage location it is creating new batch as it is not there for different combination.
Also you can check configuration in Img -- Log general -- batch management --Creation of new batches -- Creation for Goods movement.
Here u can selct option for particular movement type.
Hope this will solve ur problem in this regard
Reward if u find it helpful

  • Period indicator in SLED of batch of material

    hello,
I have question, where can i see if the plant is link when i change the Period indicator of SLED of my material, because when i make a Production Order, and indicate the batch where the material should came from in the General tab of PO there exist Specific data that show the shelf life exp. date of a material i want it to be populated by the shelf life of the batch of my material. currently the Period indicator of SLED is D (Daily-19.05.2009) i change it into M (monthly-05.2009) but in the Specific Data view in PO it still show format 19.05.2009, where should i make correction so that in my PO i will see 05.2009 in the shelf life date?
Please advice on what should i do.
    Thanks and Regards,
    JJ

    Hi,
The SLED is depens upon the Following things:
    1. Minimum remaining Shelf Life
"The minimum remaining shelf life is the minimum number of days for which the material must keep for the goods receipt to be accepted by the system".
"Minimum amount of time for which the material must keep upon goods receipt for the goods receipt to be accepted by the system."
    2. Total Shelf Life
"If you do not enter a total shelf life, enter the shelf life expiration date directly at the time of a goods movement."
For Batch managed materials we need to set the calculation of the shelf life expiration date in the Transaction: OMJ5.
