Classification : Material searching with CL31

Hi everybody,
I' d like to be able to search materials with certain charachteristics.
The characteristics belong to a class 'CLASS_1', whose type "Materialclass" is.
I have already assigned my materials to 'CLASS_1' . The new charachteristics belong now to those materials.
Now I need only to run CL31 to search my materials.So I have read in other forum.
But CL31 doesn't allow me to "search" at all. Although it is allowed to insert the charachteristics that should belong to the desired materials, there's no button 'Execute' or similar to run the searching.
I don't even want to search the materials via CL30N, as the name of the class is unknown to me.
Can anybody help please? Award points if useful!

Jump to the Tabstrip "Selection Criteria" , then go to Menu ->"Find" -> Find in Classtype"

hi guys,
i need your support to start using the enhanced material search in SD environment.
I´ve done the settings in theconfiguration guide mention based on ECC 6.0 EHP2,
but i didnt get the button to start the search in VA01 / VA21 etc !? don´t know why.
Is there anyone having the same problem ?
Isn´t it possible to run this funktion without TREX Search Engine, do i really need
to setup a new server ?!

Querying characteristics in Enhanced Material Search

Hi Glen,
I'm glad you are interested in the Enhanced Material Search. I am the solution manager responsible for this function. Your requirement is well known, but so far I don't see a simple, standard worthy solution to allow a search for (hundreds or even thousants of) characteristic values while keeping the user interface simple when selecting or displaying the desired value(s).
Maybe you have an idea for an appropriate customer specific solution that fits your own requirements. Therefore you can use some Business Add-Ins to create customer specific search criteria (see my blog /people/ingo.woesner/blog/2009/03/05/enhanced-material-search-with-creation--part-4-how-to-create-new-search-criteria-wo-modification). Using the badi described therein you could create a new search criteria "Classicification Characteristics " and select specific characteristics. Of course you have to add all characteristics to the SES business object BUS1001006 before, as you have mentioned.

Whilst I really like the current design for simple requirements (extend a structure, change some config and, voila!, you have new search criteria), when the requirements become more complicated, it would be nice to have more flexibility to dynamically influence which index is used to do the search. The results of the search could then just feed into the results view as per normal.
Here are a few ideas which are based on my own situation but might be suitable and/or scalable to other situations. I haven't put too much thought into them so they may or may not be feasible.
As mentioned in my original post, we only have a small number of variant classes for which our material variants are created. My thought it that we could create a separate index and business object class for each variant class (all the indexes would be very similar to BUS1001006 but have their own extra attributes for their own characteristics) and a dropdown field on the search view that allows you to choose the variant class via which you want to search. Changing the selection in the dropdown field would change the available search fields in the view and when the search is executed the index that corresponds to the chosen variant class would used for the search.
I'm happy to discuss this further to refine the requirements and/or design.

I will explain you a scenario, where you will be able to understand the relation.
Consider i am manufacturing a two wheeler, which has the material number but with various colours say Red and Blue.
In this case during my SD process, in the sales order, i need to mention the material number also with the colour as Red in the batch field in order to make the process more specific.
In order to cater this need, i need to activate batch managment for that material in the purchasing view and also opening the classification view in the Material master with the batch class as 001 _ Material Class.
Now my work will not get completed without maintaining a batch master for the same. Ie i have to ensure a batchmaster for the material using tcode MSC1N, with batch as colour, Material code, Plant and storage location also if split valuation is activated, we need to mention the valuation type too.
Hope i had thrown some lights over the topic enquired.

Are Cube organized materialized view with Year to Date calculated measure eligible for Query Rewrite

Will appreciate if someone can help me with a question regarding Cube organized MV (OLAP).
Does cube organized materialized view with calculated measures based on time series Year to date, inception to date eg.
SUM(FCT_POSITION.BASE_REALIZED_PNL) OVER (HIERARCHY DIM_CALENDAR.CALENDAR BETWEEN UNBOUNDED PRECEDING AND CURRENT MEMBER WITHIN ANCESTOR AT DIMENSION LEVEL DIM_CALENDAR."YEAR")
are eligible for query rewrites or these are considered advanced for query rewrite purposes.
I was hoping to find an example with YTD window function on physical fact dim tables with optimizer rewriting it to Cube Org. MV but not much success.

I dont think this is possible.
(My own reasoning)
Part of the reason query rewrite works for base measures only (not calc measures in olap like ytd would be) is due to the fact that the data is staged in olap but its lineage is understandable via the olap cube mappings. That dependency/source identification is lost when we build calculated measures in olap and i think its almost impossible for optimizer to understand the finer points relating to an olap calculation defined via olap calculation (olap dml or olap expression) and also match it with the equivalent calculation using relational sql expression. The difficulty may be because both the olap ytd as well as relational ytd defined via sum() over (partition by ... order by ...) have many non-standard variations of the same calculation/definition. E.g: You can choose to use or choose not to use the option relating to IGNORE NULLs within the sql analytic function. OLAP defn may use NASKIP or NASKIP2.
I tried to search for query rewrite solutions for Inventory stock based calculations (aggregation along time=last value along time) and see if olap cube with cube aggregation option set to "Last non-na hierarchical value" works as an alternative to relational calculation. My experience has been that its not possible. You can do it relationally or you can do it via olap but your application needs to be aware of each and make the appropriate backend sql/call. In such cases, you cannot make olap (aw/cubes/dimensions) appear magically behind the scenes to fulfill the query execution while appearing to work relationally.

Material search by description

Hi,
we want to use TREX for material search from MM03 F4 search .
we are able to search based on material no , EAN no , but not with material description.
I dont want to use full text search field because it do the search on other fields as well.
Let me know what could be the cause that material is not getting searched by description.

Material Ledger with Split Valuation Type 'X' with FIFO

Hi,
The requirement from the customer is to have Raw Material, Intermediary and Finished Products valued at Actuals and on a FIFO basis. According to me, this is possible only if we activate Material Ledger, have batch split valuation u2018Xu2019 as the valuation type and have a batch search strategy which does a FIFO. Are there any technical issues with this solution? Or is there a better solution? Is any organisation ever using this solution for a similar requirement? As an extension of this requirement, how does commodity trading companies running in SAP handle their inventory and COGS valuation?

Hi,
Using Material Ledger with batch management and split valuation of each batch ("X") leads to most aaccurate FIFO valuation result, however, depending on how many material and batch the customer has, huge number of materials will be processed and it will affect the performance issues. You should check the number and expected period-end time frame scheduling at least.
Financial responsible tell you to need this kind of solution (detailed FIFO calculation)?
They usualy needs to get simple FIFO valuation, meaning they don't care each individual logistic material movement as FIFO, but only care of periodic FIFO. I know, it depends on Finacial responsibes or their auditors, so it's also not general.
Please double-check the new FIFO valuation function for Material Ledger with using Periodic Closing and AVR. Some information is in SAP Note 1431829 and 1247053. Related transactions are there, CKLMBB_xxxx under Actual Costing/Material Ledger -> Balance Sheet Valuation Procedures. I couldn't find any official documents for Material Ledger + FIFO valuation (like Release Notes).

LSMW Direct Input Method RMDATIND tax classification material

I am loading material master data throught LSMW using direct input method. In MM01 for a particular sales org we have tax classifcation for three different countries US, CA and GB. Could anyone tell me how do I post the tax classification Material data in the table control for these three different countries.

Not sure about the same requirement of countries & tax codes for all the materials for your upload.
If this is the case,
enable the
Extras->DisplayVariant
from the menu of the LSMW & check all the check boxes. Now you see the
__END_OF_RECORD__
for the structure
BMMH2
which has to be mapped with the input structure in the Maintain structure relations step.
double click on the
__END_OF_RECORD__
which will lead to ABAP editor & then put the following code:
* Canada
bmmh2-stype = '3'.
bmmh2-aland = 'CA'.
bmmh2-taty1 = 'CTX1'.
bmmh2-taxm1 = '1'.
transfer_record.

Yes this possible - th'o config.
When you do your initial set-up for Configure & Activate Enhanced Search with creation -
> (SPRO>SD>Basis Func-->Add. Func. for Mat) you can specify the search max entries. In your current system, looks like it is defaulted as 100 for that Sales Order Type. You can try changing this & it should work.

Creation of Material Documents With Mvt Type

On Performing Post Goods Issue (PGI) in one Plant in case of Plant to Plant Dispatches, there should be Inbound delivery created for already created Purchase Order (PO). In addition after creation of inbound delivery, there should be material document created with 103 movement. This Material document is triggered when the inbound delivery is saved. Once Warehouse processes are finished, then Post Goods Receipt (PGR) happens, so 101 Movement Type happens for Purchase Order. PGR document should trigger one more material document with 104 movements; this document is reversal for material document with 103 movement type.
can any one suggest to enhance SAP for this?

Hi Nitin,
Before creating the Service type of product, you have to define the Base category for Service type product. Generally the category for service will be created under the R3 hierarchy R3PRODSTYPE. You can create this category using the TCode:
COMM_HIERARCHY. Here you have to select the product type as Service and have to assign the set types to the category.
You can create a service product using the transaction : COMMPR01 -> Click on Service ICON -> Select the Category for Service Type. Then fill in the details for Service Product description, Service ID(Based on number range settings for products), Language.
Also fill other details like Base Unit of measure, Pricing condition for different sales areas for the service product.
Since you are using CRM7.0, you can do all these activities using a POWER USER role.

Report For list of material Master with PO text

I need a report whether it is available in Standard SAP or a customized, for List of Material Master with their PO text.

To get the material number combined with the PO text you will need the help of an ABAP programmer. The programmer can create a report for you using the function module READ_TEXT in the function group STXD. The tables to use are:
STXH - STXD SAPscript text file header
STXL - STXD SAPscript text file lines
The selection screen should have at least the following:
OBJECT - STXH-TDOBJECT
NAME - STXH-TDNAME
LANGUAGE - STXH-TDSPRAS
TEXTID - STXH-TDID
You find the information for these fields by going to the PO text entry screen and displaying the header information under Goto -> Header. For materials, the object is MATERIAL, the name is "material number", the language is "EN", and the text ID is BEST. You can use this program to get long text in lots of places like information records, purchase order texts, etc.

In PO History, I have three line items with movement type 103 (Blocked Stock) and one with movement type 105 (From blocked stock to unrestricted stock). I would like to know the material document with movement type 105 document that has the movement type 103.

Hi,
you can get the material documents (mblnr) for the movement type(bwart) in table AUFK.
But i think you need to pass some other data along with bwart like matnr or aufnr for getting the correct mblnr.

Having Multiple Material Codes with Different Profit Centers in one Plant

Hi,
Can someone explain me what impact it will have, if there are different Material Codes with multiple profit centers in a single plant? For example, say Material 1 has Profit Center as PC1 and Material 2 has Profit Center as PC2 and they are in a single plant. Will this have impact on Financial Transactions?

No negative impact.. It is very much possible and logical
All the purchases made - > Stocks and vendor liability will be tagged to the PC of the Material
All the sales made -> COGS, Revenue and Customer Liability will be tagged to the PC of the material, unless you overwrite using a Substitution

Not able to create a material document with movement type 103

I am not able to create a material document with movement type 103,
The system is populating the value as 101 .
How do I create a matdoc with movement type 103?

What is the error you receive? Please specify with message number.
On MIGO, you need to change the default value mvmt type value to 103 before you enter the PO number to be able to do 103.
Once this defualt value is set, you can enter the PO and item number in the document number fields and proceed with 103.
But you cannot change the mvmt type for already entered items from 101-103 or vice versa.
I think the 101-103 and 103-101 mvmt type conversion message is standard error message
