Claws-Mail - Importing Thunderbird Address Book

I am trying to import my Thunderbird address book into claws-mail, using the csv2addressbook.pl script provided by claws mail. However, the script fails with the error message:
ERROR:
Invalid field count!
Problem with your exported CSV file
The problem seems to be caused by the fields listed in the csv file
First Name,Last Name,Display Name,Nickname,Primary Email,Secondary Email,Screen Name,Work Phone,Home Phone,Fax Number,Pager Number,Mobile Number,Home Address,Home Address 2,Home City,Home County,Home Post Code,Home Country,Work Address,Work Address 2,Work City,Work County,Work Post Code,Work Country,Job Title,Department,Organisation,Web Page 1,Web Page 2,Birth Year,Birth Month,Birth Day,Custom 1,Custom 2,Custom 3,Custom 4,Notes,
being different from those in the script
'First Name','Last Name','Display Name','Nickname','Primary Email','Secondary Email','Work Phone','Home Phone','Fax Number','Pager Number','Mobile Number','Home Address','Home Address 2','Home City','Home State','Home ZipCode','Home Country','Work Address','Work Address 2','Work City','Work State','Work ZipCode','Work Country','Job Title','Department','Organization','Web Page 1','Web Page 2','Birth Year','Birth Month','Birth Day','Custom 1','Custom 2','Custom 3','Custom 4','Notes','junk'
I have tried changing them in both files so that they match, but I still get the same problem. I'm afraid that is the limit of my programming knowledge, so I would very much appreciate some help with this.
Thanks in advance

I have not tried this yet because I might have an overlap of contact information from thunderbird with that that is in adress book. Will it mix them up?

  • Whow to import thunderbird address book from pc to tablet nexus7 !!!

there is no indication on the file of tablet or pc to reconnyse the request

With many applications it's just a matter of dragging the file that has all the addresses into the address book. If for some reason that doesn't work you can use the import function of the address book. If you happen to have them in Outlook here is one way:

  • How can I import my address book from spicebird to thunderbird?

I changed from Spicebird to Thunderbird for my email account. How can I import the address book from Spicebird to Thunderbird?

did you follow the instruction on the spicebird web site http://spicebird.org/migration.html if you did your address book. settings and mail would all transfer without issue as the underlying formats are basically the same.

  • Possible to do one-time import of Thunderbird address book?

From reading the past 18 months worth of postings, I realize that iPhone communication with Thunderbird is very bad, and it seems to be impossible to sync the Thunderbird address book to the iPhone contacts.
But even if I can't keep them synced, is there a way to do a one-time import of the address book into my iPhone contacts? I can export the address book as a csv text file if that helps. I hate the thought of having to type in all the people in the address book manually, since I have about 100 of them.

Well, you are asking for 100kS at a rate of ~22kS/sec.  That is ~4.5 seconds worth of data that you are asking for from the sound card.  That is what is making your system slow.
I am afraid I do not quite understand what you mean (I am not overly confident about the workings of computers).
Data Acquisition 101.  It takes time to take data.  YOU told the sound card to acquire data at ~22kS/s.  YOU asked for 100k samples each loop iteration.  Therefore YOU asked for 4.5 seconds worth of data each loop iteration.  If you want the iterations to go faster, you need to either 1) increase the sample rate and/or 2) decrease the number of samples you acquire with each read.

  • Importing Exchange Address Book Into Mail

So I setup my exchange account without any issues but I'm somewhat struggling to figure out how to import my company (exchange) address book. Can anyone assist?

OK, any Contacts you have on the Exchange Server are now in your Mac's Address Book. Right?
So I think that you are after the "contacts" that are in the Global Address List, which contains all the addresses within you companies domain and which is maintained on the Exchange Server.
From what I know the Global Address List is only available when talking against an Exchange 2007 server.
    Apple says:
"Now with Snow Leopard, the Mac has out-of-the-box support for Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, something even Windows PCs don't have. Instead of using Outlook to access Exchange services such as email, calendar invitations, and Global Address Lists, you’ll use Mail, iCal, and Address Book."

It sounds like you use Quest as your ISP, or whoever you have as your ISP is being taken over by Quest. If this is the case it is possible that your email server is being transitioned to Quest and you will need to change your email address and server settings.
I am only speculating since I do not have enough information. I suggest calling your ISP or Quest and ask their help desk about this.

  • I want to use a Thunderbird address book folder to mail merge into MS Word letter [name, address]. How to?

I recently migrated from Outlook 2010 to Thunderbird. I have contact folders. I publish a newsletter in MS Word. I want to mail merge my newsletter with now a specific contact database [folder] in the Thunderbird address book. So my question is, how to do this?

Unfortunately, the tight and smooth integration you have experienced between Outlook and Word is due to those two products having come from the same Office stable and having been designed from the outset for such interoperability. With Thunderbird coming from a third party author, there's not much incentive for Microsoft to support or encourage interchange of data between Office components and Thunderbird.
If you have Outlook and Word, what advantages do you anticipate in using Thunderbird? (Personally, I do exactly the same because I dislike Outlook and its Ribbon in particular). But I don't have much call for the sort of task you are attempting.
The long and short of it is that you'll probably have to export your TB Address Book to a format that your Word mail merge can use. Since I haven't tried this for myself in a long time, I don't know what Word can use. I'd hope that CSV would fit the bill.
If you are thinking about moving away from Microsoft Office, then you might look at Libre Office, which can, IIRC, use a data source such as Thunderbird's address book as a mail merge source. But this alone may not be a very good reason to move away from tools you know. :-S

  • Import the address book from entourage to .mail?

Does anyone know how to import the address book from entourage?
I have had major problems with entourage - and I have decided to use .mail.
I have managed to get the email accounts transfered, but I can't figure out how to get the address book.
This is about 15 years of acquiring address, so, it would be a major thing to manually do this, not to mention that I can't find an address book in .mail
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    AWebdancer

Thanks - I moved the addresses, it wouldn't let me move the groups, but at least I have the major addresses.
One thing that would make .mail better is to be able to do a search on it for an old email that you now need. I hope that comes out with the new osx software.
    Thank you so much Alberto.

  • Unable to import Mac address book

I am unable to import my Mac Address Book into Thunderbird.
In thunderbird, I have gone to tools>import>address book>text file . Address Book is not highlighted, so I am not able to choose it.
I have also tried to export it from Address Book. In Address Book I have also gone to file>export>export Group vCard, and it's the same porblem, Address Book is not highlighted, so I am not able to choose it.
What am I missing? Can someone please help?

I just installed MFFAB 0.7 in a test profile of TB 31.1.1 with no problems, but on Win 7. Perhaps there is an issue installing it on the Mac OS, in which case I would contact the add-on author. Almost all add-ons can be installed on Win, OSX or Linux.
Otherwise, what happens if you open TB Address Book, Tools/Import, select Address Books, then vCard file, then select the .vcf file created from Mail app?

  • I must import my address book from my old Yahoo account? How do I do that?

I need to import my address book from my old Yahoo account to AOL and
Windows Live. I cannot find a way to do this.

Sorry, Firefox doesn't do email, it's strictly a web browser, and thus has no use for an Address Book.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.
If your problem is with Mozilla Thunderbird, see this forum for support.

  • When importing my address book from Outlook why do I have multiple entries for the same contact?

I have an address book and it contains one list in Outlook. I just downloaded Thunderbird and imported my address book. The address book and one list imported very easily but there are anywhere from 3-5 entries for each person in my contacts. If I delete the extras they are removed from my list as well. Why are there multiple listings for each contact and how can I remove the duplicates without losing my list entries?

as I was looking thru pictures in my finder I noticed there were several copies of the same pictures I had taken yesterday. I just went thru all Seven copies of the pictures (accidental pics of my hands and the desk etc) and right clicked and moved  them to trash, then I thought I'd look it up when I realized its not just these pics, but very many had een stored in groups of three or four.
    1. Why is that?
Depends on where you saw them - If they were in the iPhoto library iPHoto has either two or three different versions (no duplicates) or each photos in its library - this is not optional and can not be changed  --  If they were not in the iPhoto library then you can do what you please with them and they have nothing to do with iPhoto - iPhoto is only involved with the photos in its library
    2. Why is it advised to NEVER make changes to the structure or contents of iPhoto in Finder?
    (as quoted Below)
"I would suggest using one of the proven safe programs - if you are going to manually remove them be sure to remember that you NEVER make any chnages to the structure or contents of the iPhoto library using the finder - only make changes using iPhoto"
Very simple - if you do you will destroy your iPhoto library and have to start over losing all work you have done in iPhoto - The iPHoto library is a SQLite database and there are NO user servicable parts in the iPhoto library and any changes made using teh finder will corrupt the database and cause dataloss
Is that a good enopugh reason for you?
So if these photos were in the iPhoto library when you
I just went thru all Seven copies of the pictures (accidental pics of my hands and the desk etc) and right clicked and moved  them to trash,
You destroyed your iPhoto library and will either have to restore your backup from before you did this. put everything back EXACTLY like it was before or start over
