CLD student looking for internship

Hello,
I am a student at AGH University of Science and Technology in Poland, department of Mechanical Engineering. Since now it is holiday time, I am looking for intern opportunities across the globe.
I have been using LabVIEW extensively for three years and I have attended most courses related to LabVIEW like Core 1 &2, FPGA, RTOS 1 & 2, Advanced Architectures. I have recently passed CLD exam and I will attempt CLA in October. Apart from LabVIEW I have worked with vision sensors from Cognex and PPT Vision. I am now starting to learn TestStand.
I am open for intern opportunities of any kind across the globe. I would love to find place near seashore My English is good when it comes to listening and writing. I am currently working on speaking. I attach my CV.
Best Regards,
PH

The computer is great, the best. I think you will need 2G ram. Ram is cheap, fill it up with 3G and get it over with.

I like the optical bay caddy idea, as I barely use my optical drive anyway and it has some issues. The NewModeUS caddy seems a tad expensive for what it is, but it doesn't seem like there are any other options to choose from. I think I would probably just get an external USB optical drive to replace the internal optical drive completely.
So, NewModeUS caddy, and how's this for a HDD?  One possible issue; I've read that some people have had issues with a 7200 RPM drive not working correctly when used as a secondary drive. A fluke, I hope?
I've looked at the generic disk setup guidelines, and I'm wondering how much of a performance boost I would get from getting a 3rd drive (using eSATA). Is it worth going all in with that, or is getting even just a second drive going to help out significantly? The external option I've come up with: docking station (thanks John T Smith), and HDD (recommended on the forum)
The Cineform neoscene looks useful, but I'm not sure I'm prepared to spend $130 on what is essentially a file converter. Thoughts on how much that would actually affect performance?
Thanks for everyone's help so far, there's been more helpful suggestions than I'm allowed to mark, it looks like .

  • Uni Student looking for a MacBook Pro for Music Production.

I'm sorry if a thread like this is already up but i couldn't find one.
Anyway, basically i'm university student studying Audio Engineering w/ Electronics and i am just currently entering my second year. After the first year of uni i have come to the conclusion that an Apple computer would meet my needs as this course is multimedia heavy and i also like to produce music on my spare time.
I have been desputing in my head whether to get an iMac or a MacBook Pro and should i get the current generations or the previous ones and try to save money. If i were to buy the current models i could only afford the lowest spec iMac or MacBook Pro. I do like the having a laptop due to portability but if an iMac is the better out of the two i'd probably use this laptop for light browsing and whatnot.
Currently, I am using a Windows PC and it crashes on me when ever i open Reaper and even Audacity which is strange as looking at the my current specs it should be able to run the absolute minium. I have managed to use Adobe CS5 on it but it takes somewhat hours to render the final video - i don't whether if it's the machine or if it's just the vidoe content. I had too many problems with Windows PC's and I feel that I am a true Apple user at heart.
    Advice would be much appreciated.

There is nothing the Mac computer line can do that a Windows computer Can't do. Whatever you have been told or read is flat wrong. There are major recording studios that use only Windows and then therer are some that use only Mac's. They will both do the extact same things with the exact same software.
Both Mac and Win PCs use the exact same hardware. There is no difference except in the OS they run and the available software for each OS. Windows having a larger choice of available software.
    EDIT:
Then there is something wrong with your Win PC if it crashes all the time. Could be hardware or the software is corrupted, like the OS and programs needs to be reloaded.
Same things happen to Mac's, again there is no difference. Mac's suffer from the same hardware and sofftware glitches as Windows. Just read these forums and you will see tons of problems.

  • Soon to be college student, looking for info as to which computer I need.

Hi! I will be a freshman in the fall. First off I have heard AMAZING things about the MacBook Pro, (and honestly I'm leaning toward it), but I am scared because this is my money we're talking about, and boy am I short on it!
This computer would need to be fast, reliable, and be able to handle me putting stuff on it. (I'm not a photographer so it wouldn't be thousands of stuff, but probably a couple hundred.)I'm a writer so I'm thinking of getting Windows Microsoft, but even with the student discount, I don't know if I'll be able to afford it. And it'll have to handle whatever college throws at me. Plus I will use it to watch TV on websites that might carry viruses, so it'll have to be good and handle the virus protection I put on it. I want this computer to last me a long time. There is no way I'll be able to afford a new on for a while.
Lastly, I want to order it immediately, as in as soon as I get enough money.
Any input is appreciated! There are no wrong answers!

Wow, that's good advice. I'm hoping to get my computer way before I start school, perhaps within the next few weeks even. And it would be a good idea to save the extra money and get the Dell. But at the same time I've heard that a Mac Book pro could potentially last me up to 7 years or more.
It does not matter how long the computer lasts you if it won't support your needs. Believe me, you won't be using the computer you buy today in seven years, at least not with the then current capabilities, software, and functionality. Technology changes fast.
Check with other students who are now taking the same courses you will be taking to see what computer worked best for them. I don't have a dog in the race. As I said I use both a MacbookPro and a PC. Both work well. I don't expect to be using the same ones in a year or two, let alone seven years from now.
My advice, based on your limited budget, is to get a PC unless there is a course requirement to get a Mac.

  • Student looking for some opinions

to all people who do programming as a profession:
in general, is programming a good career to get into? as far as salary vs work required? is this kinda job hectic? what do you think?

With a lot of coding going offshore, I think that now would be a bad time to enter the field. I have been doing it long enough that I'm hoping it won't affect me (unless I have to find a new job). I'm also hoping that the drawbacks of offshore coding will make themselves apparent to the pointy haired ones in a year or two. Just my guess though, anything could happen.

    Looking for a reading App.
    iPad (iOS 7.1.2) - Kindle.
I am looking for a good app that can help a college student with reading books that cannot be found on audio book.  I have tried voice over and it works but it's very monotone and it really strings things together.
    - I'm willing to pay for a good app but I can't seem to sort though the many that are out there. Any suggestions.

Ah. I'm surprised, but there we go.
    Have a look here ...

(courtesy of googling 'OSX free multitrack recording software')
Didn't have time to do more than skim, but 'Ardour' looked promising. Protools is the only one I've used, the full product is one of the industry standards, but the free 'lite' version listed here seems to be limited to 2 in/out as well.
Referring to your original post, I'd think trying to write or 'script' something would be a nightmare ... synchronisation of streams within something like Applescript would be a major issue, quite apart from anything else.

  • Multiple ipad Carrying case? Looking for some form of a case where elementary students can transport 20 ipads safely up or down staircases

I am a teacher and my building just purchased a set of 25 ipad 2s.  I am looking for some form of a carrying case where a teacher or students can take 20-25 ipads from the iPad storage cart and carry it to the classroom.  Some classrooms are on the second floor so something that would hold them safely would be great. Thanks for the help!!

Check out the carts on this page.  Great ways to spend taxpayer dollars!
    http://www.apple.com/education/labs/
An Apple iPad Learning Lab streamlines the management of classroom sets of iPad devices. Each lab includes 10 iPad devices and a sturdy and secure mobile cart. The cart can store, charge, and sync up to 30 iPad devices and has room for a MacBook computer. The cart rolls easily around campus, so multiple classes can benefit, and it can be locked to secure the devices when they’re not in use. For even more iPad portability, the Bretford PowerSync Tray can charge, sync, store and secure up to 10 iPad devices at once and is available only through Apple. Purchase a predesigned Apple iPad Learning Lab or let us help you build your own iPad mobile lab.

  • Looking for:  UA members with Student SAP User Group

    UA Professors in North America:
Does your campus have an offical SAP student user group, ERP special interest group or similar?  If you do, please post with a brief description of what that group is / does.
In the next month I would like to organize a conference call for the schools with these SIGs to understand what member schools are doing, how the groups are organized, how the groups are (or are not) affiliated with your SAP initiative on campus, what works / doesn't work for your students and so on.  Students at member schools have more and more interest in starting these groups - and we'd like to be ready to share best practices!  Our colleagues at ASUG are interested in this topic as well, and will join us for the call.
    Thanks for sharing!
    Best Regards,
    Heather

Central Michigan University has remained active since Dr. Andera's last post (9/29/10). We fulfilled our goal of visiting Cargil and 3M this past March 2013 in ST. Paul/ Minneapolis.I attached a couple pictures of our visits to 3M & Cargil. It was a very rewarding experience that allowed us to present our program to each company in depth. This trip taught us as group many things. We have also gone to multiple ASUG meetings including Grand Rapids, and Detroit. We are currently invited to the ASUG-Illinois Meeting on Nov 1 at Harper College, and will be hosting an event in the fall here on CMU's campus in Mt. Pleasant, MI.
As a group we have weekly meetings including guest speakers and SAP TERP10 training sessions. Our group has now reached 100+ students and continues to grow each year. There are many things we are doing that attract new students.
For instance, this past year the Information Management Institute here on campus conducted the 1st annual ERPSim. An annual invitation only competition challenging the best ERPsim teams in a competition to determine which team has developed and implemented the best business strategy for the ERPsim Game.  Twenty teams of four students and one mentor competed head-to-head for the Top Honor of ERPsim Champion. The top five teams were rewarded with scholarship money and plaques.
So to answer your question, Central Michigan University currently has a very active SAP UASUG , and it only continues to grow!
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask, I am the president of the group here at CMU and would love to help you. Just email me at [email protected]
