Clean air installation

Why would I deploy all clean air APs that are single radio g/n only. Am I not losing the advantages of 802.11n by not having bonded channels. And if I am concerned enough about interferers to deploy all clean air APs, should I not have 5 GHz available to mitigate the interference?

The Mavericks on the Air is probably machine specific since it came pre-installed, so it wouldn't work on your computer. See if your friend will let you access the App Store, where you can sign in using your Apple ID and download the installer. You can use this free program to copy the installer and update your computer.

  • Migrating to Clean Air

    I have a question that I need answered preferably by a Cisco employee or someone who has migrated to Clean Air.  We are thinking of migrating to the Cisco 3500 series APs in our environment.  I was told a while back that Clean Air is only supported as a fork lift upgrade, meaning all APs would need to be 3500 in order to migrate.  I was also told that we could use the 3500s in monitor mode for troubleshooting, but could not intermingle AP models.
    I am aware that the code level needs to be at 7.0 to have the features of clean air, but is it true that I can not migrate slowly to replace my present APs?  I am in a pretty large wireless environment with multiple WiSMs.  There is just no way to do this all at once.
    Erick

    So will I still be able to see the benefits of the Clean Air technology in a mixed environment?  Interestingly, that is not the information I was given initially. Are there any features in the 7.0 code that I will not have be able to take advantage of or are there any gotchas I need to be aware?  While the benefits of Clean Air may not be recognized with our b/g clients, will the 3500 APs still service b/g clients for network access?
    I found this straight from the Cisco documentation regarding the Clean Air design guide.
    Mixing CleanAir LMAP and legacy non CleanAir APs in the same installation
    Why should I not mix CleanAir LMAP and Legacy LMAP APs in the same physical area? This question pertains to this use case:
    “I currently have non CleanAir APs deployed (1130,1240, 1250, 1140) in local mode. I want to add just a few CleanAir APs to increase my coverage/density. Why can’t I just add some APs and get all the CleanAir features?”
    This is not recommended because CleanAir LMAPs only monitor the serving channel and all CleanAir features rely on measurement density for quality. This installation would result in indiscriminate coverage of the band. You could well end up with a channel (or several) that has no CleanAir coverage at all. However with the base installation, you would be using all of the channels available. Assuming RRM is in control (recommended) it is entirely possible that all of the CleanAir APs could be assigned to the same channel in a normal installation. You spread them out to try to get the best spatial coverage possible, and that actually increases the odds of this.
    You certainly can deploy a few CleanAir APs in with an existing installation. It is an AP and would function fine from a client and coverage standpoint. CleanAir functionality would be compromised and there is no way to really guarantee what the system would or would not tell you regarding your spectrum. There are far too many options in density and coverage which can be introduced to predict. What would work?
    AQ would be valid for the reporting radio only. This means it is only relevant for the channel that it is serving, and this could change at any time.
    Interference alerts and zone of impact would be valid. However, any location derived would be suspect. Best to leave that out all together and assume closest AP resolution.
    Mitigation strategies would be ill-advised to operate because most of the APs in the deployment would not operate the same way.
    You would be able to use the AP to look at spectrum from Spectrum Connect.
    You would also have the option to temporarily switch to monitor mode at any time in order to perform a full scan of the environment.
    While there are some benefits, it is important to understand the pitfalls and adjust expectations accordingly. It is not recommended, and issues arising from this type of deployment are not supportable based on this deployment model.
    A better option if your budget does not support adding APs that do not serve client traffic (MMAP) is to collect enough CleanAir APs to deploy together in a single area. Any area that can be enclosed on a map area can contain a Greenfield CleanAir deployment with full feature support. The only caveat on this would be location. You still need enough density for location.

  • Corrupt Air installation in XP: help please!

    I can neither install nor uninstall AIR from WinXP. Everything I do gives me the "Adobe Air Installer has encountered a problem and needs to close.." box.
    I have tried "Add/Remove Programs".
    I have tried msicuu.
    I have tried the '-uninstall' commandline option.
    Everything gives me the "Adobe Air Installer has encountered a problem.." box.
    Can anyone give me some help to manually remove files and registry entries please?
    Does anyone at Adobe read this forum?  This is my third posting - the previous two got me no replies at all.
    Regards
    Peter

    Alan:
    Thanks for the response from your engineering colleagues.
    There is (or was) indeed a folder called airappinstaller containing a copy of airappinstaller.exe in the
    ..FlashPlayer\www,macromedia.com\bin\ folder.
    After noting that the bug still occured after I had deleted the Adobe Air
    folder (see my previous posting), I realised that there must be some other
    route by which the airinstaller was being called by the BBC web page, and
    searched for it and found it in the folder which you have just asked me to
    check. I tried renaming it, whereupon the bug has vanished and I can now
    stream BBC TV programs cleanly. I had no idea whether this would be a
    well-behaved solution, so I put it back and proposed to wait for your
    response.
    Incidently, the BBC had already suggested I uninstall/reinstall FlashPlayer,
    and I had done this but it hadn't cleared the problem.
    I would still be grateful for a documented manual AIR clean-up procedure -
    one which could be trusted to work regardless. A list of files/folders to be
    deleted and a list of registry keys perhaps. There seem to be numerous
    suggested methods for removing AIR and, at least in my case, none of them
    worked.
    By the way, I still have no idea what AIR does, or should have been doing.
    Bearing in mind that all I want is to stream TV programs, and I can do that
    without AIR, how on earth did I get into this mess?
    regards

  • Air Installation in English

    I've been trying to download Air Installation in English and I continually get the page in Spanish. I start at the Adobe home page (United States) and get nothing but Spanish when I click on Get Air. I've changed my location to French and get French, but from any English location, I get Spanish. Where is the Air download in English?

  • Adobe AIR installation problem

    I've been trying to update my AIR install from version 1.0.8.4990 to 2.6.0.19140 but when I try to do so I get an error stating that it might not be allowed by the administrator, even though I am the admin.

  • Help: Adobe AIR installer has encountered a problem and needs to close.

    When I run the Adobe AIR installer i always get this window...
    I'm running Windows XP SP3
    How do i solve this problem? Thanks.

    Are you installing AIR installer or running Installer. If your running it make sure you click on the AIR Install package file, not just using installer. Im not really sure what you can do.

  • Trying to restore a Mountain Lion caldav.sql into a fresh/clean Mavericks installation

    Call me cynical, but upgrades and Migration Assistant were never my thing. I'm starting to experiment with migrating some of my Mountain Lion OS X Servers to Mavericks.
    Under OS X Server 2.2.x (Mountain Lion), I had a script that would individually backup the postgres_server databases, caldav, collab, device_management, etc.
    I'm now working with a clean Mavericks installation and trying to restore the caldav db. Through the help of ~morgen, I've worked out that caldav seems to have its own postgres instance and I can see and view the fresh caldav database there:
    /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/bin/psql -U caldav -h /var/run/caldavd/ccs_postgres_3d403b3009fe0c830944d87bd751fbe9/ caldav
    So, I backed that up before proceeding with:
    /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/bin/pg_dump -U caldav -h /var/run/caldavd/ccs_postgres_3d403b3009fe0c830944d87bd751fbe9/ -c caldav | gzip -c > /Library/Server/Backups/PostgreSQL/caldav.sql.gz
    And then tried to use dropdb to drop it, so I could use createdb to re-create it and then use psql to suck in my Mountain Lion backup. The three intended commands in order would have been:
    /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/bin/dropdb -U caldav -h /var/run/caldavd/ccs_postgres_3d403b3009fe0c830944d87bd751fbe9/ caldav
    /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/bin/createdb -U caldav -h /var/run/caldavd/ccs_postgres_3d403b3009fe0c830944d87bd751fbe9/ caldav
    /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/bin/psql -U caldav -h /var/run/caldavd/ccs_postgres_3d403b3009fe0c830944d87bd751fbe9/ -d caldav < /Library/Server/Backups/PostgreSQL/caldav.sql
    HOWEVER.... the first command failed:
    dropdb: database removal failed: ERROR:  database "caldav" is being accessed by other users
    DETAIL:  There is 1 other session using the database.
    Interestingly, even though neither Calendar nor Contacts server are running, there's quite a bit running under _calendar:

    So, how can I gently get this mystical one user off of the DB in order to do this? OR, how can I start up calendar in such a way that this mythical user is not connected?
    If I unload this job:
    launchctl load /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.calendarserver.agent.plist
    I can no longer access the postgres instance in order to drop and create the db.
    Any other ideas / suggestions / solutions?

    If you knew your sql, I don't think it would be insurmountable to pull apart the full dump.
    As to the upgrades in place, here's some of the output in caldav's error log every startup:

    To be clear, I don't believe its Server.app. Each of these services stores its schema version IN the database and its checked every startup, and it would appear, that each service knows how to perform that upgrade at each startup.

    The log covers many attempts.  The latest was on 29th September.
    Following a suggestion in another forum thread, I checked the file permissions for folder 'c:\users\martin\appdata\local\temp'.   As far as I can see, they give full control to the SYSTEM, administrator and sole user (martin) accounts.  There are no options with 'Deny' against them.
    I have run Microsoft FixIt.  I also tried the Windows Installer Cleanup utility (msicuu2.exe) but I got 'Access Denied' with no further details.
    Any suggestions?

    I have managed to edit the Registry so as to get the Windows Installer (MSIExec) to write a verbose (detailed) log.  From this, and some web forums, I found that the problem has been caused by a Microsoft Windows security update, KB2918614.  This was applied on my PC on 14 August but I think it was released on 12 August.  My Windows version is Vista and I don't know if this update or a similar has been applied to other Windows versions.
    For more information see wix-users - SECREPAIR: CryptAcquireContext: Could not create the default key container.
    I went into Windows Update on my Control Panel and found how to uninstall update KB2918614.  When I had done this, followed by a Restart, I was able to install AIR and the software that uses it.

    Looking at the event viewer Windows Logs/Application log, a registry key cannot be accessed during the install of 16.x . If I am able to set permissions on that key another registry cannot be accessed which halts the installation. I have been through several keys already and it just continues, another registry key cannot be accessed. "Unable to display current owner" and Access Denied when you try to set the owner. Is this a problem caused by Microsoft or Adobe? This is occurring running either under administrator or an account in the administrator's group.

  • Adobe Air Installation problem in Mac OS 10.6.3

    I am using a Mac OS 10.6.3, having this error message when installing Adobe Air,
    "an error occurred while installing adobe air. installation may not be allowed by your administrator. please contact your administrator"
    I downloaded the latest version of Adobe Air from Adobe's website.
    Try uninstalling and still having the same problem. Done this troubleshoot method:
    1. In Language and Text, only enable English - Then Log out and Log in
    2. Make sure in Library - Framework, there's no Adobe Air installation.
    Please Help

    Finally, you have to do the following ( under Mac OS Snow Leopard ):
    -Uninstall ALL air applications.
    -Uninstall AIR, using the Uninstaller App ( located in /Applications/Utilities )
    AND
    -Delete the following directory:
    sudo rm -rf /Users/YOUR_USERNAME/Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/AIR/
    And BINGO! after doing that, reinstall adobe air, and tweetdeck!!!
    There you go, at least that worked for me, hopefully it works for you!

    Hope you can help me.

    I'm sorry you're running into installation issues with AIR.  Microsoft has a utility that can help resolve installation problems.  Would you mind giving this a try and let us know how it works for you?  When running the Fix it, go through the uninstall process and try to remove Adobe AIR from your system.  Once finished, download the latest version of AIR and install again.
    Microsoft Install and Uninstall Fix It
    If you still encounter problems, we'll need to examine the MSI installation logs.  You can enable these logs using the instructions found here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/223300

  • Adobe AIR installation issue - hangs at "Installing..."

    Hello everyone!
    I know questions similar to this have been asked many times before, but I did not manage to find the solution to my problem after a few hours of reading and trying the various 'solutions' around the net and this forum. I apologise if I missed it.
    I cannot seem to install Adobe AIR. I run a freshly downloaded installation executable, but it hangs at "Installing..." and 0% progress for a very, very, very long time, if I let it. This last try has been going for 45 minutes as I write. The only way to get out of the installer is through Task Manager and killing the service, as hitting 'Cancel' just makes the installer attempt to cancel endlessly.
    I tried installing it in safe mode but there it gives an error saying I may not have administrative permissions (which I do have);
    I created a new user account;
    I "run as Administrator" and am using an account with administrative rights;
    I tried it through the command line with putting the file in c:\ and running "AdobeAIRInstaller.exe -silent" without quotes from c:\;
    I have shut off all my antivirus software;
    I tried downloading it with a different browser;
    I tried using the MicrosoftFixit.ProgramInstallUninstall, and took Adobe AIR off the list;
    I tried uninstalling all Adobe products and then reinstalling them, with Adobe AIR last
    ... and some more things, but none of this has helped. Here's what the installation log generates when it hangs:
    [2012-12-25:01:16:36] Runtime Installer begin with version 3.5.0.880 on Windows 7 x86

    I would much appreciate any help or advice anyone can give me regarding this! This is starting to drive me nuts.
    Thank you.
    ( also, this is my first post, so please forgive if I've done anything wrong or not according to etiquette! )

    Ok, I understand.  So before we continue, we really need to figure out what the exact error is.  Can you, on at least 2 systems, generate the MSI logs we'll need?  Here's a document that explains how to enable logging and where to find the logs once they've been created:
    How to enable Windows logging
    Once you've enabled logging, try installing again.  Grab the newly created msi logs and either post here or email me at [email protected]  I'll examine the logs and see if we can find a common issue between the systems.
    Thanks,
    Chris
