Clean cache in mail
How do i clean mails cache ?
I want to start over with the compete adresses when i write mail adresses.
In Mail, look in Window/Previous Recipients. From here you can clear them all, or just eliminate the bad ones if you prefer.
If you want Mail to not autocomplete at all, that's in Mail/Preferences/Composing, and untick "automatically complete addresses".

How to disable image cache in Mail 7
I urgently need to disable the image cache in Mail 7. How can I do that?
Reason: I regularly get mails with image files that are essential parts of customer orders. The image content is different in each mail, but the filename is the same.
Mail 7 displays the same image in every mail until I restart it, it obviously displays a cached file instead of the original image.
Where is the Mail-cache-file? Can I writeprotect it?I think Private Browsing might be what you are looking for,
have a look here for more info

also not sure how much access you have on a company workstaion to change settings in Firefox
Hope this helps :-) -
how do you manage apps, clean caches, close apps running in background?
Cleaning cache is only necessary when the cache files are corrupt which is hardly ever. There is absolutely no reason to clean them periodically.
To close task running in background double click the home button. Then click the X in the upper lefthand corner to cloase.

I cleaned cache like I have done before. Then when I tried to use firefox, I got the firefox is running but not responding. tried following directions to do the profile fix, but when I tried to click on the firefox tab, I got the running but not responding message. Soooooo could not even try to uninstall because of getting the same error message. Get error message if I tried the safe mode start. Tried restarting, shut down and start. still same message.
Hello,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
#*'''Windows:'''
#**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
#**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!
Thank you. -

Cleaning Cache History makes CPU hang for hours.
My FF settings history remembering is 90 days.
Each day having approximatly 1000 pages.
Today FF started to hang even when just writing thats why i wanted to solve problem with solthing witch has a problem- CLEAN CACHE AND HISTORY.
1. Closed FF
2. Opened FF
3. Clicked to clean all HISTORY EVERYTHING
P.roblem- it started to use all CPU and every 25 second it pops up UNRESPONSINVE SCRIPT.
I click continue couse that of course is not for websites (couse none is opened now) but for history cleaning FF script.
Unless i click continue it doesnt work with cleaning history right? Or not?- all cpu is down, so no cleaning happening, but i want to clean history.Current Firefox versions keep a maximum number of visited page and do not have a time limit for the history.
Firefox determines automatically how many pages can be kept without affecting the performance.
You can see the current value of this maximum as the value of the read-only pref places.history.expiration.transient_current_max_pages on the about:config page.
See Marco Bonardo's blog about this subject:
* http://blog.bonardo.net/2010/01/20/places-got-async-expiration
If you still have browser.history_expire_days prefs then you can reset them via the right-click context menu.
You can delete all places.sqlite files including places.sqlite-shm and places.sqlite-wal in case there is a problem with the file.
You can check for problems with the <b>places.sqlite</b> database file in the Firefox profile folder.

"clean cache" - the ball keeps spinning
I'm relatively new to Mac. When I click "clean cache" the spinning ball shows up and doesn't stop.
Normally it doesn't take more than 1 minute maximum to clean?
I don't use it often, only after using PayPal or similar.
Is there a way to fix it ?
thanksManually clear the caches for the browser yourself. Safari keeps cache in
/Users/account/Library/Caches/Metadata
There are folders for history, bookmarks and site icons as well.
Repair your disk drive, sounds like it could have directory problem. -
Open in same window and clean cache from swf + html file generate with InDesign CS5
Hi,
1)
I have a Indesign web file exported to swf + html.
In my document I have a button that point to url (this url is html file of a second Indesign swf + html).
When I click on button, the url was find an open in another window.
Is it possible to open this second url in the same window?
If yes How.
I think this information is in the swf file and not in html.(How modify the swf code?)
2)
How to clean the cache when you reload the url? (in the html generate file)
I'will very please if somebody of you could help me. it's Important for me.
Regards
PhilippeOkay, I found the code but I can't get it to work locally. If you have a web server maybe you can upload the files (swf and html) after you Publish them:
import flash.net.URLRequest;
import flash.events.MouseEvent;
var myURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest ("http://www.google.com");
testlink.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickText);
function clickText(myevent:MouseEvent):void {
navigateToURL(myURL, "_self");
you have to have on the stage a link element called "testlink" (see the code above) which would be a Movie Clip with the label testlink. It can be anything from InDesign: a button, a rectangle, a circle, a graphic, you get the idea. Just select that object in Flash and label it testlink or anything you choose but if you change the name from testlink also change the name in the code snippet where the line "addEventListener" is. -
10.6 Clean server Junk Mail Says Stopped
Hello,
I migrated from 10.4 and had all sorts of troubles so I started with a clean 10.4 server, imported users and groups and brought the email back without touching the settings to stay clean. Ran the upgrade to 10.6 and updates.
Now the server says Junk Mail Filtering and Virus Filtering stopped in the overview. In settings I have a hyphen in junkmail and a full tick in virus.
Because of many complaints of greylisting I disable that. (osx.topicdesk.com)
Any ideas for the stopped condition. The main.cf looks cluttered, I haven't seen that much in the cf before...

I think that if you modded the main.cf and/or master.cf files in postfix, then that prevents you from using Server Admin to make changes to your setup. I.e., once you go manual, you're outside of SA for good. Then when you migrate to SLS it copies over the old config files. I was able to get it working by using the default main.cf file, but then I ended up just setting up the whole thing again.
Interestingly today virus checking stopped working. Or rather it was unable to update itself. I was able to turn off the virus filter, reload postfix, and turn it back on, reload postfix, then it started working again. So, after a fresh from scratch install, SA works just fine. Lesson: don't manually monkey with your main.cf file or (in your case possibly) migrate from a manually altered one. -
I had problem with mail settings and I had to set up and then delete many times mail accounts. When I delete a mail account all information are destroyed or some informations remain in memory?
Cant Think of any type of system which would cache a deleted
Mail settings if The account after it was deleted
Not even sure it would be legal to do so as anybody could access The temp file
And steal

I have an Exchange 2013 Hybrid environment with Exchange 2007 in coexistance mode as well as Office 365. We are hosting the majority of our Exchange accounts on-premise (migrating them from 2007), and most (soon to be ALL) Archive mailboxes in Office 365.
I have through Group policy set the policy "Select Cached Exchange Mode sync settings for new profiles" to 6 months. This works fine for the contents of the regular mailbox, but the setting is NOT being set at all for the Online Archive mailbox,
whether or not it is hosted on-premise or in Office 365. Is this the expected behavior?
Another question: Is it possible to have the regular mailbox in cached mode and the archive in Online mode or vice versa?Hi,
The key to your questions is: Archive mailboxes are online only, they cannot be cached for offline viewing, so you can keep your regular mailboxes offline(In Cached Exchange Mode) or Online, but cannot switch Archive mailboxes to Offline.
The whole idea of the archive mailbox is to keep your "online" mailbox with recent / important mails small and accessible on and offline. The archive mailbox is intended to store older / less important emails which are not neccessary to access immediately.
One important reason of archive mailbox is to prevent the growth of offline files.

Melon Chen

Cleaning cache, Cleaning cache
How do I clean my cache ... computer really sluggest!!! Help!
Onyx or any "cache cleaner" is not the way to improve or cure why it runs slow and sluggish.
Might want to ask in MacBook Pro forum but whateer you do, clone your system, make sure you have working bootable backups of your system and data first. -
I've had my MacBook White running on Mac OSx 10 for about 2 years. My sister has the same type of MacBook and she isn't having any slow performance. I really don't want to install RAM and that can't be the end all be all of solutions. Please help!!
Kappy's Personal Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
For disk repairs use Disk Utility. For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utilities are: Disk Warrior; DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible. TechTool Pro provides additional repair options including file repair and recovery, system diagnostics, and disk defragmentation. TechTool Pro 4.5.1 or higher are Intel Mac compatible; Drive Genius is similar to TechTool Pro in terms of the various repair services provided. Versions 1.5.1 or later are Intel Mac compatible.
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep. Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts had been significantly reduced in Tiger and Leopard. These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defragments files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems.
I would also recommend downloading the shareware utility TinkerTool System that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old logfiles and archives, clearing caches, etc. Other utilities are also available such as Onyx, Leopard Cache Cleaner, CockTail, and Xupport, for example.
For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack. If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the commandline. Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard.
When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand. I also recommend booting into safe mode before doing system software updates.
Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
Backuplist
Carbon Copy Cloner
Data Backup
Deja Vu
iBackup
JaBack
Silver Keeper
MimMac
Retrospect
Super Flexible File Synchronizer
SuperDuper!
Synchronize Pro! X
SyncTwoFolders
Synk Pro
Synk Standard
Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance, optimization, virus protection, and backup and restore.

I've tried hard to find someone else with these symptoms, and nobody seems to have a complete answer. After upgrading my 2008 MacBook Pro to OSX Lion, these problems began. Whenever I leave the lid closed for too long - not entirely sure how long, bu
