Clean install help please.

I am in the middle of giving my macbook a clean install and the second install disc has stopped working 9 min's from completion and ejected out. I have tried to install again, Clean the disc and still same problem. Is there a way of reversing this clean install or do i have to wait until i get a new second disc to continue with the process.
Any help would be greatly accepted thanks.

Hi macboy,
you can re-do clean install but opt out most of the application like iMovie, iDVD, iWeb, and iPhoto.
try to opt out one by one, if it will said that you will need second disk during installation ,then opt out couple more, or install the essential system first (all in disk #1) and after that, insert disk 1 again and choose install software bundled only, and install the application one at a time.
Then if you come accroes the application that won't installed , just cancel and re-install that using your nes second disk.

Boot Camp, VIsta with SP1 x64 clean installed. Please help!

I clean-installed Vista Ultimate 64bit with SP1 (SP1 comes with Vista, not a separate download) on the latest macbook. As expected Boot Camp Application doesn't work (it doesn't even install).
1.I want to use the function keys (F1, F2, etc) for brightness and volume, which installation program should I run from the Leopard disk? I don't think I can find this "driver" online.
2.How can I get bluetooth on my macbook working? Which installation program should I run from the Leopard disk?
3.iSight camera. Is there a driver for iSight camera in 64bit Vista?
I see there's a "x64" folder in Leopard disk, under folder "drivers". Should I install everything in this folder? I haven't tried yet.

how did you manage to do a clean-install of Windows Vista with SP1 from a slipstreamed media? If I start my Macbook with the Vista SP1 DVD while holding down the "C" key, I will only see the following message:

I can't go on any further, because hitting any key won't work.
The problem seems to the EFI bootloader on the Vista SP1 DVD which is compiled for 64-bit EFI environments (U-EFI 2.0)! The EFI environment used in Apple computers is based on version 1.10 and runs in 32-bit mode. I've found this information on the rEFIt homepage http://refit.sourceforge.net/info/vista.html and I've also found the homepage http://www.jowie.com/post/2008/02/Select-CD-ROM-Boot-Type--prompt-while-trying-t o-boot-from-Vista-x64-DVD-burnt-from-iso-file.aspx from Jowie who has the same problems. He has found out how to make the Vista SP1 DVD booting on an Apple computer by modifying the DVD image which seems to kill the EFI bootloader...
How did you manage to boot from an unmodified Vista SP1 DVD image?

Unable to reactivate Windows 7 after clean install - help!

Yesterday I formatted my C:\ drive in order to perform a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium. I am unsure of whether I was using 64 or 32 bit. I didn't have an install disc so borrowed a friend's retail Home Premium disc and used my OEM key to install. This didn't work and I am unable to reactivate my copy of Windows 7. Having read some other forum posts it would seem that I should have made a backup before formatting my hard drive, but it's too late now.
How can I successfuly reactivate my OEM copy of Windows 7? I am reinstalling on the same exact PC so believe that this should be possible.

Flash Install Help Please

I'm having an exceedingly infuriating time trying to install flash on my mac I'm using safari 7.1.....i needed to update my flash player for one of my movie sites so i goto n adobe and I followed the instructions, went through user name and password etc. When the download box appears it flashes retrieving download briefly then just goes blank and does nothing else... I followed every troubleshooting suggestion checked the preferences made sure its allowed etc. Then it suggests a clean install... ok, thats not a bad idea doing that has been a definite help before....... well...... now I have no flash player at all and it still won't complete or start the download, whichever the case may be since i am not entirely sure...... I need some help or any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated since now I'm quite sol...

This seems to be a major problem. I've been trying for 8 hours to find a fix to the problem. I'm running windows 7 home, 64 bit, uninstalled any prior versions of flash, and every time i try to get flash, I can get the download, but when I select run, it loses connection. I even did a system restore to see if something that had recently updated was causing the problem.

Clean install help.. Error message

I was going to clean install Mountian Lion on my 2012 macbook pro. after i deleted my HDD and Reinstalled my OSX i get the message, your computer has Restarted because of a problem. and i dont get anywhere after that.. pleace help me!

Try starting your computer with the recovery partition (command + R) then run disk utility on your hard drive, also repair the permissions. Take a look at this link, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1782

Would a clean install help?

I have a Logitech USB headset that I use for Skype and Second Life. I normally use it on my iBook G4 and have never had an issue with it.
If I connect it to my PowerMac G5 (late 2003) I sometimes get audio output but no response from the microphone. The headset rarely works completely on the G5.
Sound preferences have been configured correctly for both input andoutput. I have tried connecting to every USB port on the CPU, both ports on the keyboard and all five ports on my powered hub with the hub connected to all three powered CPU ports. I have also duplicated the audio input issue using an analog microphone connected both via the audio in port and a USB iMic interface.
Both the G5 and my iBook are up-to-date with OSX and security updates.
I am not experiencing any problems with any other USB peripherals.
I would suspect that somewhere along the line, the G5's audio settings/software/etc. may have become corrupted or otherwise gone bad. Anybody out there with a different opinion before I backup the G5 and re-install Tiger?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I went ahead with the clean install of Tiger today.
So far, the headset is working properly. I'll post again if that changes.

Clean Install Help.

Hi. I have several questions and would be so grateful to anyone that helps me answer then.
I want to do a clean install of lion. I have a terebite hard drive with my time machine back-ups on it. So my questions are:
Can i put the Lion install thing on that same hard drive and use it for the clean install? If not, how else can i do it?
How can i manually move all of my applications and software without it loosing it's preferences, serials, plug-ins etc?
That's all of my questions at the moment.

HI I have replaced my original HD three times with a newer larger format discs. I get slow response times spinning beach ball issues Disc utility would report a corruption on all the discs and I have reformat them serveral times. after reformatting Disc utillity would report the discs as perfect. with in weeks the problems would reserface and eventually got stuck on a grey screen at which point i took it into an approved apple repair shop they could not find any issues with the computer ran lots of checks etc. and basically told me that my Mac pro 2.1 could only handle 500gb discs and posed this as the route of my problem.
Seem my Video card was damaged in the process so as well so having reinstalled the operating system on a old 500 Gb dics and having a news set of issue related to the snapped video card The Computer was retuned to the shop and the sata controller was investigated a brand new disc put in and the shop said every thing was fine
As Far as i can make out either there is a problem with the sata controler and this is damaging the hds
or i have been very unlucky and brought three damaged HDs
Or all the new Hds excceded the capacity of my particular mac pro and the os cannot function correctly on 1TB a 1.5TB and Two 2TB drives which all seem to function perfectly other than with the os on.
SO I have no other option to take seriously the point that the OS cannot function correctly on a HD of larger than 500GB
And that there is likely to be some corruption in my Time machine back up. So here i am with a new 500 GB Disc and fresh copy of the opprating system, wondering where to go from here. should i risk a time machine Backup or continue and basically loose lost of important data ?

OS X Mavericks clean install help!!

Im trying to do a clean install of mavericks, im backing up my macbook with an external hard drive. can i download mavericks and put it on the same hard drive as my backed up files? after all my files are backed up and OSX Mavericks is downloaded on my external hard drive will it let me install the clean version of mavericks even though its on the same HD as my files?

You can, but better is to just put a copy on the ext and run the installer from the int HD.

Leopard 10.5.6 won't install, help please

I have a Powermac G5 1.8 ghz dual processor running OSX 10.4.11. In light of the fact Snow Leopard won't run on Powermac g% I decided to purchase one of the few remaining OSX Leopard 10.5.6 Family Packs off Amazon.co.uk.
When I insert the Leopard install disc after a few moments of reading the install DVD the screen prompts you to restart your system with the disc still installed. On boot up all I seem to get is a white screen with the Apple logo, with no further progression possible beyond this point. (It is as though the system is struggling to read the DVD).
Please can anyone offer any suggestions or do I need a product return due to a faulty disc.

How long are you letting it sit in that state? A few minutes? An hour or more?

I'd try giving my optical drive's lens a cleaning first.

MX7 Install Help Please

I have installed ColdFusion MX7 Enterprise on my Fedora Core
4 (Plesk 8) Unix Server. It is installed to the deafult directory
/opt/coldfusionmx7/ and the installation went well.
To access my administrator panel I was told to go to the
following
http://72.35.76.29:8500/CFIDE/administrator/login.cfm
where the ip address is my server address. I was also told to try
http://72.35.76.29/CFIDE/administrator/login.cfm
without the port as the port number was only needed for a debian
install which is not my case, I was a Unix install on Fedora Core
4.
As you can see the adminstrator panel does not come up. I
don't know how to access the panel and need help, I've tried
everything.
I have configured plesk, it see's Coldfusion and works
however there is no way for me to access the administrator panel
which in turn doesn't help me much. Please help..... what do I
do?????

My installation looks good, I have all successful and 1
warning which is with the c++ compatibility pack (I've been told
this is normal?). I have attached the log for your viewing.
My server has Apache so I was told NOT to install the
internal web server but the external web server. I would pressume
this is correct? If not that would be my mistake!
Secondly when you install an internal webserver it looks for
files in the /opt/coldfusionmx7/wwwroot/ Directory which would be
the default
http://localhost:8500/ correct?
So if I have an EXTERNAL webserver
(perl-Apache-ASP-2.59-fc4.build80060613.20) and I am on Fedora Core
4 (Linux) . So what is my default directory now? From what I can
see if you just go to my
http://ipaddress it is the directory
for the following on my server. /var/www/vhosts/default/htdocs
I thought I heard someone say I had to move my CFIDE
directory???? Where to? I appreciate the help and your anticipated
response as I would like to get this up and running (it was a
rather very expensive software piece ha-ha)!

Flash and reader wont install help please

Hi , never posted on a forum so be gentle
neither flash or reader x will install , it gets to 50 percent then gives a generic fail message ( flash encounterd problems andthen just stops)
im using an old
p4 2.4
gigabyte 8ipe100 mobo
ac 97 sound
ati radeon 9800 pro
windows xp pro 32 bit
the latest firefox browser
was trying to install the latest flash player from the main adobe website
any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanxs in advance

For Adobe Reader, use the installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
If that does not resolve your problem, please post in the Adobe Reader forum.

10.7.2 will NOT install help please

iMac 27 (2.8 / 4gb) and my mbp (2.8 / 4gb)
Neither of then will take the 10.7.2 update. Both machines reported the corrupted update (not expandable or corrupted during download error) after The lion recovery update downloads / installs, the OS update completely downloads and reboots. On reboot the machines both error out 30 seconds into the install.
There is a thread on here that states others have had the same issue and worked through it using a combination of the repairing their disk permissions and immediately installing the update from the downloaded combo update DMG and NOT using software update.
When I download and launch the update combo update dmg or the client update (non combo?) dmg ALL of the dmg's also error out on INVALID checksum ... On two completely separate machines, I get invalid checksums from dmg's from the apple site? someone please explain. Even if I skip the verification the installer looks normal until it starts to install and then also errors out.
The reports that have been successful at getting the update to install all report that repairing the permissions are the cure... - when I repair disk permissions, I get a load of system/library/coreservices/remotemanagment/ardagent.app....... Junk that should be.... And i get the same list on both machines. The permmisions repair lists them as repaired.
.... Then if I DO nothing, other than simply press "repair disk permissions" again, it lists all the same mess of mismatched perms....
Please help?

I am currently sitting at 10.7.1. When I ORIGINALLY started this adventure, I did my usual update through Software Update and there were two items listed:
"Lion Recovery Update"
"Mac OS X 10.7.2"
I simply allowed all to proceed as normal. When the machine rebooted to install the OS update- it verifies the installer for about 30 seconds and then I get -
"The update "Mac OS X Update" can't be installed. The update could not be expanded and may have been corrupted during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs."

is an earlier thread that I has been experiencing the same issues, and this is where I got the info regarding the disk permision repairs- and trying to install from the downloaded image and not through Software Update.
This makes no sense to me. I have downloaded the update dmg from apple at least 10 times on two different machines, and on every one- their checksum is invalid? Even when I check the checksum with disk utility it reports an error?
Only other thing of note is that my iPads will also not update through itunes and also report that the download was corrupted or damaged during download?
I'm stuck. I hope that this explanation is clear?

I might be able to piggy back on your thread. First of all have you triedd stopping the service though task manager? Do that and see if there is an error message. I hope someone can suggest a registry hack that may solve this IPOD service issue.
