Clean of wiki page of Xorg [Wiki]

Just to be clear, I have almost zero knowledge of Xorg and etc.
With the upcoming release of Xorg 1.8, I think a clean and clearer page on the Wiki would be a must for the future. Now the page contain stuff from several years and several versions of Xorg back. With 1.8 and the removal of HAL, a lot of the stuff renders useless (not sure, but I guess so).
The use of udev, u that and u that, things are starting to get more automated. And we can start to look past HAL.
As an example, I just installed Xorg 1.8 on an old Intel integrated chip and it worked flawless except my keymap. Looking behind this, I can only imagine that there will not be so many problems when all the drivers get updated to support 1.8 and things start to work without any user intervention.
Something I would care to see, is a more explanatory page towards 1.8 only and the things the user could be struggling with 1.8, like keymaps, touchpads, etc. Follow the KISS-idea of Arch Linux.
What is your ideas on the matter? Would try to contribute what I can, but not sure what.

Once xorg 1.8 gets merged into extra we will be able to clean up the wiki even more.
So please go through it, see if it makes sense, fix up any grammar or clarity errors!

Clean Access Splash Page Remove "Powered by"

Does anyone know how to remove the "Powered by Cisco Clean Access" statement from the Clean Access User Pages? I running Version 4.0.5.

The Clean Access Agent is completely independent from the user login page. i.e., you don't have to use the user pages if you're using the client software. So it will not change.

I'm currently using Firefox v4.0.1, which I like and am happy with, as it allows me to use my Kaspersky link filter and virtual keyboard.
Anyway, I recently decided to clean my registry and history using cc cleaner.. I did not back up as I had never experienced problems before. Once cc cleaner had finished and I opened Firefox I noticed that my two home page layouts had altered. The Supanet home page is now all disjointed, buttons are scattered to the left and right of the page, where once they where side by side, all of the images and text seem to be beneath each other and instead of one page i now have to scroll down and down to the full page, all text and image seem to be left margin.
On the google home page certain buttons are there but the text within has disappeared, although the buttons work, a search for Mail online through google..(or Supanet home page) is not a problem, however, once we arrive at the site it pretty much displays the info in the same layout/manner as the Supanet hompage. Further more certain buttons on other sites are no longer interactive..eg, Asda voucher print out. i do not wish to update to other version of firefox as i would lose Kaspersky buttons..so please help..I've tried everything..even re installing version 4.0.1..Help, I now it must be simple..but I'm not a techie!! Many thanks!

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

OfficejetPro 8000 won't stop cleaning, printing test pages

Every time just after we print, our Officejet Pro 8000 A809 prints a test page, then starts cleaning and nothing can be printed again for several minutes. The test page can be canceled, but not the cleaning cycle. If we add several documents to the print queue quickly, it will print those documents, but always the test page and cleaning cycle afterwards. The cleaning cycle seems to be using a lot of ink. The page it's printing has CMYK stripes down each side and bars running down the middle, some slanted.
I've tried resetting the printer by unplugging it, the queue doesn't show any errors, and neither does the HP "Solution" Center.

Just a quick update as HP seem completely incapable of answering threads here, offering advice (tried their woeful helpline which just reiterated advice I'd already read in the manual), or helping their customers at all. I've returned the printer to the supplier, as it was completely intolerable, after 3 days of its cleaning process (twice taking over 15 minutes) it refused to print half the colours, and after yet more cleaning it exhausted the inks – it I hadn't paid for the device, I'd have laughed... To market and sell this device as a small workgroup printer is ridiculous, it doesn't even properly function as a printer at all. We've been purchasing HP devices since the 550C way back in the early 1990s, but will never purchase a printer from HP again. Slowly but surely the devices have become cheaper, poorly built, with the focus on tiny ink cartridges to fleece the customer. I'm absolutely disgusted with the lack of assistance, support, let alone the truly abysmal device which is/was the 8000.

NAC clean access agent page redirect

I have a NAM and NAS pair that I have recently upgraded from 4.1 to 4.7 using the proper upgrade path. These devices also received new IP addressing.
My issue is that when a user is routed to the NAS the redirect page seems to point to the old IP address of the NAM rather than the new IP address, so naturally this page cannot be displayed. My discovery host is set to the IP of the NAM currently, have tried both NAM and NAS.

Look at the certificate installed on your CAS. It is still issued to the old IP/NAME I think. Change that and try.

Why does my CP1525nw clean after each page? (using Laserjet1525nw; WIN 7 32bit)

From what I can find the issue is due to custom size paper. I am printing 6.7 X 6.7 envelopes for my daughters wedding and had no problem until I had printed about 50 of the envelopes (one at a time). I am using a template for printing the addresses so I do not print as an envelope format but as a custom size document. I have set the size to a custom size and it was printing beautifully. Then it seemed to freeze and after that it started cleaning after each sheet(envelope). I don't know what happened to change it since I had changed no settings after the initial setup. I have tried restarting the printer. I have exited WORD and restarted (after checking to see if the size was set to the custom size). In addition to the cleanings adding time to my project I am worried that it might be harmful to my printer since it cleans each time. I am only 1/3 complete on my envelopes and hope to resolve this before I continue. . I googled this issue and found that it has happened to others but I have not found a solution. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I just got this printer the other week and it's doing the same thing. I didn't try changing the paper to custom, just left it at 8.5x11. I tried manually feeding one a time through tray 1 but nothing has fixed it. I am too worried it'll damage my printer and it's adding SO much time to my project. I am considering calling support.

Lion Server Wiki - Factory reset?

I have a new clean installed Lion Server on a Mac Mini.
I have been experimenting with the Wiki.
I now want to start again with a totally clean, new Wiki
Question - how do I do a 'Factory reset" to the Wiki?
I don't need to retain any information
I do not want to do a total Lion Server re-install...

Well, that is a major bummer that they know about it, I was hopeful it was fixed in 10.7.2.
Super-Duper is a superb back-up utility that takes a complete snapshot of the drive at intervals you set. Perhaps for now, you can set it at every night, or run it before a reboot. If the data is gone, you can easily restore the entire drive, quickly.
So, to get you up and running, download a widget from apple's site that allows you to see hidden folders. It makes it easy to toggle hidden folders on and off. Just search "apple hidden file widget" and follow the link. The company / author is "Matt Hansen" and it is free.
Then, install the widget and activate it so you can see the hidden folders. You will now see the /var directory that Brian mentions above. While in that folder, you could replace out particular folders or files with the time machine copies. Maybe replace out all of the pgsql folders? I am not totally sure on that, but that is what I would do.
Giant caveat - I would run Super Duper beforehand, so that if you mess up some integral file, you can quickly and easily just make the drive like it was before you start restoring things.
When done, remember to go back to the widgets and turn off "show hidden file" so you cannot see them anymore.
Let us know what you end up doing so as to help others who may get hit with this. Also, as you may know, 10.7.3 is supposedly close to being released, so I have my fingers crossed that it will solve this issue.

Xorg error: Failed to load module 'type1'

I am running arch under virtualbox.
I set up Xorg according to the HOWTO wiki page for Xorg and KDE.
when I do 'startx' I get this error:
(EE) Failed to load module "type1" (module does not exist, 0)
How do I solve this?
p.s. how can I copy the entire .log file to outside of virtualbox (running winxp)?

Yes it does help, why not? That way xorg won't try to load it on startup, so there will be no error. This is in /etc/X11/xorg.conf by the way.

2 questions. can i get rid of the " thousands of add ons" dialogue box below my browser? i find it annoying,pointless and it feels like a commercial and second i want the about mozilla text at the bottom of the page gone can these 2 things be removed?

just want those 2 things to not be on my homepage. i know how to use the add ons link in the options panel why do i need a text button on my home page. and also the "about mozilla" button at the bottom of page couldnt this also be in the options panel? i just want a clean looking home page with nothing on it i didnt put there.

I had changed my Desktop image earlier but when the "Installing 1 item" window came up it changed back to the back ground that you first see on your desktop after installation.
Leopard installs updates a bit differently. If it's simply an application that does not change system files, it installs them like before, without having to restart. If the update is to the system, then you must immediately "restart," It then goes to that stars and purple screen to perform the installation. Before, it would do the installation while you still had control of the Mac and would prompt you to restart when it finished the installation. This change probably make things more secure and reliable, because you aren't allowed to do other things on the Mac while system updates are being installed.
Please post back with the remaining point of concern.

How to remove all pages from layout? (except Master Page)

I'm implementing additional security measures into my 'initialze' event, where I'll check some global variables and render the file unreadable if needed.
Which object and properties do I access to remove all my pages from the form?
I would like to createa a function that removes all the sub pages, leavning only the Matster Page, enable a label in the MasterPage and save itself.
I searched for xfa.layout and Page[n].remove() methods but cannot find any reference to these.
.presence = "hidden", fulfills my purpose but the pages remian visible and I need for a clean solution no pages are visible.
I'm advanced in C# but a novice in LC JavaScript, so any comment, reference or code snipet will be greatly appreciated

JP Terry's book on LC Forms is very good and we use www.pdfscripting (which is a subscription service). If you are going to be doing a lot of LC Designer work, these may be of help.
I am not a coder, so I going to try and work through your script. Bear with me if you already have this sorted...
The script looks ok and you are using the resolveNode method correctly. Seeing topmostSubform in the resolveNode indicates that you imported an existing document into LC. This is fine, but sometimes it restricts some of the functionality.
For starters I think that mPg is returning null. You can use the following in your script to see what is happening (debugging) and then comment it out:
console.println("mpg: " + mPg);
Then when previewing hit control+J to bring up the javascript console, then will show the value of mPg when that script executes.
Try deleting the SOM up to #pageSet:
var mPg = xfa.resolveNode("#pageSet.MasterPage1");
The javascript console will show you when the script is working.
In relation to the loop, I would advise a few changes:

There are a few things here:
I would declare i as a variable, not an integer (not sure if it makes a difference);
I would use pageCount rather than numPages and then <=;
There was an extra ; at the end of the loop declaration;
I would break the script into steps and get the full SOM of the page as a variable first and then resolveNode that variable;
You don't need to go to the current page;
I tend to name master pages with a capital "P" and pages with a small "p". Personal preference, but it can make tracking script easier.
Have a crack off that and hopefully you can get it to work,

ps another tip, if you want to reference an object in script. First click on the object you want to script for and then scroll (or click on the master page) for the object you want to reference. Click inside the script editor and then when you move the mouse back into the form, press and hold Control, this will turn the mouse into a "V". When you click on the object you want to reference it will insert the SOM into the script. If it needs the resolveNode it will automatically put that in for you. Holding Shift and Control will insert a fully resolved node.

Can't see my page in design view, usind split screen

Hi everyone, I am new to these forums and new to dreamweaver,
I have a problem which I have no idea how to fix.
I have been using the program (in my limited ability) saved
my work, then when I opened it today, I have no design view in Code
and Design view. The top part is fine but all I have is lots of
lines at the bottom.
The actual website seems fine, but just means I can't make
any changes other than in code view, which I a not skilled enough
to do.

HP C4680 does not print test page (iMac - OS Yosemite 10.10)

Recently, my C4680 has stopped printing from my iMac. It also no longer prints a copy of a page placed on the scanner. Here's some info about what I've checked and done so far.
1. The ink supply levels are fine. I am using HP's proprietary ink.
2. I deleted C4680 from the list of printers and added it back. Adding back the printer did not indicate that a new driver was needed. (The last time I used the printer was under OSX 10.9 Mavericks)
3. Under the utilities menu, I clicked on "printhead cleaning." A blank page printed under Level 1 cleaning, but Level 2 and Level 3 cleaning each produced pages printed with text and color bars. So, the ink is working.
4. Under the utilities menu, I clicked on "Align," but it only produced a blank page.
5. Under the utilities menu, I clicked on "test page," but only got a blank page.
Why isn't my printer working? As I mentioned before, the "printhead cleaning" utility produced printed text, but I get a blank page for other tasks.
Is it a HP driver issue? Is a new driver needed for OSX Yosemite? If so, where do I find it.
Help would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to help you with the printing issue you are experiencing. I understand the issue seems to be related to the ink system or potentially the driver. The best plan of attack is to narrow down the root cause.
Can you please perform a colour copy that contains black spots too? I would like to see if the printer hardware can duplicate a page without any quality issues. Please let me know the outcome of the copy and we can go from there. Thanks

Clean up & reduce file size of book scan to pdf

I scanned a 129-page book to PDF. Ran optimizer. File is now almost 150 MB. I see that the shading of the pages is all still there, which I don't need. There are some charts, no photos. I'm perfectly happy to have the text appear on a white page.
I tried Optimize Scanned PDF. It sliced away a thin section of the image in the middle, a problem reported over two years ago:

I then tried printing the document to a PDF, a suggestion I found somewhere. I got the progress window, "Printing page X," updating for each page # all the way to the last page. Took a nice long time. The window closed and there was no file created. I tried it with one page and it worked.
The printed PDF just appeared seemingly out of nowhere when I wrote the last sentence, I think at least 20 minutes after I printed it.
So now I have an 18 MB file. The shading on the pages is still there, and I lost the OCR text recognition I ran before. The text looks more pixellated now. It would be really nice if the Optimize Scanned PDF worked, because it had settings that purported to clean up the page background, etc. My main priority is to be able to make the text look better.
Does anyone have any suggestions or updates on the Optimize Scanned PDF bug? thanks.

As mentioned by "apangasa", the image slicing issue is known and fixed in AX. For the other issue, i.e better looking text, try the "Text Sharpening" filter which uplifts text color to make it look darker. "Text Sharpening" filter control resides under the Filters section. Please let us know if these suggestions help you.

Local xorg.conf

Is it possible to have per-user xorg.confs? I scanned the internet and read the man pages, but I could not find much. The man pages, confusingly enough, define $HOME in the section about where startx looks for xorg.conf and then does not use it. Neat.
I have a "freevo" users that boots into freevo, and I want it to make the resolution 800x600 and enable tv-out at the same resolution, so I need a custom xorg.conf.

Thinking about this more, I'm not sure what the solution is. Since I log into users using GDM, X is already started. How would one set up custom video configurations for each user? Is there a way to apply a new xorg.conf while X is running?
