Clean Re-install? Keeps Freezing when importing files.

Hope someone can help...I can't stop my photoshop from searching for files to import. No matter what I do it freezes on the importing files and never moves...I am beyond frustrated to the point i have uninstalled and reinstalled to see if I can get it to stop by it keeps starting with that Can I completely delete and re-install clean and re-program where to get files? I think I moved files without doing it through Adobe and it hasn't been the same since but i thought my external drive was dying.

You will need to turn off Watch folder service. Please follow these steps-
On desktop press 'CTRL+R' key to open 'Run' dialog'. Type 'services.msc' and hit enter
Check for 'Adobe Active File Monitor v9' and right click it > choose Stop.

ITunes 7 Burning keeps freezing when importing?!

I try to import cd's from the new iTunes 7 and with cd's that are even barely scratched and it keeps freezing in the middle like it can't read the cd's. I've imported the same cd's on my powerbook and no problem, anyone else having similiar problems?

in itunes, under preferences - go to advanced.
under the importing tab, check use error correction when reading audio cds.
see if that helps.

Motion locks up / freezes when importing files

Motion opens fine and opens existing files fine and from what I can tell performs fine with existing projects. But now, I cannot import anything, to begin a new project or to import assets, Motion just locks up. Occasionally when I restart, it will work but not all the time. This was also happening with FCP but has not happened recently.
Any ideas?

Clean install on new 1TB hdd, Yosemite keeps freezing when copying data from an ext drive and also from a usb

Hi all,
I'm trying to figure out why my macbook keeps freezing when I try to drag my data across to it (even small files from a USB).
I've had to force restart over a dozen times today :/
I ran EtreCheck and there are a couple of issues (I've no idea what they mean).

Thanks - I had a 1TB hdd in my macbook for about 12 months but it started playing up a few days ago (I got the question mark folder on bootup) so I bought another 1TB hdd (same model) and started from scratch.
My macbook is an early 2010... now I'm wondering if Yosemite is a bit too much for it?
The ext hdd is my timemachine backup, so yes I have used it often and it has my TM backups - and the usb is a new usb which Ive used a few times.
The issue seems to be when Im transferring files from an ext drive to my mac. I can use it fine and browse (worked find for 45 mins) then I tried to bring my data across.. and it copied a few gig over before total freeze.
This has happened about a dozen times.
I keep running disk utility and checking the disk. I also just ran the apple diagnostics tool that came in the apps cd - the hardware apears to be fine.
I have a 250 gb partition for the OS and the rest is my second partition for data.
I'm now wondering if I should reformat the first partition, install leopard from the CD, then upgrade to mavericks and leave it at that.
Any thoughts would be awesome. Thank you for reading and replying!

This is my first time posting here, so I'm sorry, I re-read my post several times and honestly did think I provided enough information, but you're right, it wasn't the right kind. So please (continue to) bear with me, I'm really not trying to be ignorant. I honestly assumed the issue was something I was doing wrong in Bridge, nothing to do with my computer specs.
I am using a late-2008 Macbook, running Yosemite 10.1.1 (screenshot below)
On the Mac I am using Bridge CC 6.1.1.115 and Photoshop CC 2014 (2014.2.1 release, 20141014.r.257 x64)

I work with jpg, psd, ai, svg, and pdf files. Most of my stacks are three different file types of the same image, usually jpg, psd/ai, and pdf.
I have not recieved any error messages
I am not having issues opening raw files, I am not having printing issues, I have listed the troubleshooting steps I have taken.
Is there any information you need that I missed? I'm trying not to be a dingus, but I'll have to ask you to be patient with me in the meantime. I haven't ever looked up half the hardware/software details that were suggested and I don't know how to off the top of my head, so I provided what I already knew how to

since upgrading to OS lion, my mac book pro (2010 August) keeps freezing (non responsive, requires restart) when i turn on my mac and the system is trying to open apple mail. while apple mail is attempting to collect new mail, the macbook pro freezes. this happens every 2nd time i try to start up my computer. this only started happening after i upgraded to OS lion. please let me know what I need to do to fix this. being forced to restart every 2nd time i turn on my macbook pro has been very frustrating. not sure if apple mail is also the cause of my macbook pro for being very slow during start-up (on the occasion the computer doesn't freeze).

I am having similar 'freezing' problems with many programs (Mail, Safari, iTunes, etc.). I have done a clean install of Lion instead of an upgrade when it came out. Perhaps something went wrong with my install? I'm thinking about wiping and reinstalling.

Flash cs5 keeps crashing when importing images onto stage. I plan on tracing a drawing I made. They aren't that big so I don't know why cs5 crashes. Any ideas how to fix that? Thanks

I got the same problem. I tried to import into Flash cs3, cs4, cs5 - constant error in each application.
But seems I've found the reason why this happened in my case.
I just deleted the installed system video codecs (divx, xvid, third-party codecs).
I do not see a direct connection with the import objects into flash. But fact, immediately after the removal of codecs it has to work.
I suspect that the reason could be a third-party codec that is associated with playing QuickTime. Maybe.
Also if it does not help you this way, I used a temporary solution.
Open the psd in Adobe Ilustrator, copy images to clipboard, paste it into flash.
In my case the images are not displayed on the screen after insert, but put into the library.
Don't touch objects, just save the file, close the Flash.
Launch Flash and open saved file. In my case in the first run was an error.
Close the application and open it with file again.
The second time the error was not followed, the images were within the document 8-)
This option made it possible to work until the issue is not solved completely (adobe, wake up!).
win7 64, cs5 (cs3, cs4 had the same issue)

Audio compression
Frame Size
Frame Rate
Interlaced or Progressive
File Extension
Pixel Aspect Ratio
We could direct you to video and audio properties readout programs, but let us see if we can get the information needed from knowing
the brand/model/settings for the camera that recorded the video.
Please check out these 2 important concerns, let us see what you have, and then we can decide what next. The video card driver matter may fix all.

ITunes freezes when importing music from CD and also when playing,

Just recently iTunes has started to freeze when importing music from a CD - it just stops and the progress bar remains as it it. The whole mac then freezes and I get the spinning beachball. I can't use any other application. The same thing is happening when I play music - it's ok for a song or two and then freeze and the beachball appears. I've downloaded iTunes again and reinstalled and it's just the same. Using Safari and Mail etc is no problem at the moment.
I also have a problem getting the iMac to recognise external hard drives - it won't show them on either firewire 400 or 800. I can see my 1TB drive using usb ( it shows up on the desktop, whereas on firewire it doesn't do this) but if I try to open it and see the contents in finder, it opens, but doesn't dispaly the contents of the drive. I can see the disk size but just get a grey spinning wheel in the bottom right hand of the finder window. Timemachine does not work.

I have had the same problem & itunes crashes when i try to import a file. Now i can't even start itune. I've reinstalled itunes so many times, without a fix, I've lost count.
I did post and had no reply. I'll watch this post with interest.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

When importing files into fcpx from go pro hero2, some are importing as .mov and some as .mp4. when making a multi cam clip it will only add one type, if you try and add the other it says camera clip cannot be processed.

here is one that is imported and stays .mp4. the specs are same as original file before import.
here is one that has changed somehow during import. specs on original file are same as above, but once it is imported it changes to this in event folder, and others randomly keep the above specs.

I brought a creative zen x-fi and half of the times i tried to delete a track or album it would freeze, i'd reset it and the track or album was not deleted. I sent it back and brought a new one however my new one does the same except more, about 8 out of 0 times when i try to delete a track or album it freezes. It doesn't seem to have any problems deleting anything else e.g photos, videos. I looked on the support section of the site and it mentioned that the player could keep freezing if there were corrupted files. Pleae could someone tell me what exactly this mean? (i'm a bit of an amateur when it comes to things like this ) All the music on my player is from ripped cds or what was already on the laptop or player to begin with, so could there be any corrupted files from those?

Freezes when adding files

all was perfectly well, until i hit the update button and got 7.5.
Now as soon as i try to add a file or a folder. Itunes freezes up and (though it still adds the files, about one album per two hours. And i get the "not responding" message if i try to do anything while its running.
this only happens when importing files to the library, everything else works.
ideas?

It is always a good idea to run a virus and spyware scan before starting troubleshooting to elimate malware as a cause.

First check to see if the problem is User-specific by opening iTunes in another account.

Try quitting Pages and deleting the following file: youraccount > library > preferences > com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist. Restart Pages and see if that helps.
