Clean the crap from your brand name computer.

If you have a brand name computer, like Dell, HP, Sony, Asus, Acer or whatever, chances are you have a lot of crap on the system, because that comes pre-installed. Things like a 90-day trial of xxx and a free trial of yyy, and all that stuff, that is better removed than kept installed.

Ha ha, if I bought a dell or any other crap brand computer instead of building one I would just reinstall windows when I got it.
Although sometimes with xp I found that it would install the dell or hp crap even with a normal xp cd. I think it has something to do with the key you use, I wonder if it's different with windows 7?
Heres one more thing to add, get AVG FREE! I just fixed a friends computer because he had no virus software and some fake virus scanner software that was actually a virus froze up his computer. Seriously computers should ship with avg free!

I stored all songs on ipod...updated my OS. I completely wiped out the old microsoft windows and installed windows XP. (I know, bout time.) Besides that I have read that I cannot restore music from my ipod as it is only one way.
Is there a work around? I have the shuffle (1G). Thanks.

If the songs are in your iPods library there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Go to the Purchases Tab in the App Store and Accept the apps.
Then you'll be able to update them.

If you are transferring from Mac to Mac, then copy the entire itunes folder.
You can also type :" move itunes library" into the google search bar for directions.
Since you do not mention exactly what you have tried and what happened, it is difficult to offer much more.

A 15" mid-2009 MBP RAM specifications are: 204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM.
As has been pointed out, OWC is an excellent source for Mac compatible RAM. Crucial is another first rate source for Mac RAM. RAM from either vendor will work just as well as any purchased from Apple with the bonus of being less expensive and having a lifetime guarantee.

iTunes match won't automatically remove content from your computer, if you want to do that you will need to do it manually yourself.

Keep getting the message "An error occurred with the publication of album - Do you want to remove the album from your library?" don't know why

I don't know why I keep getting the following messge for a recent album I created in iphoto:
"An error occurred with the publication of album (name of album). Do you want to remove the album from your library?" In smaller letters under that message, is "The feed could not be found or is invalid." There are 2 buttons to click - either "Remove Album" or "Keep Album". Never had this issue before, did not do anything different this time.

Is this an album you're publishing as a MMe Gallery? If so delete the album and gallery, create a new album and gallery and try publishing again.

Cleaning the dirt from fans?

How do I clean the dirt from my Macbook Pro's fans?
I've had my laptop for about 2 years now and I try and clean it on a regular basis, and it never really had any fan or overheating problems, but the past few months the notebook gets really hot and the fan sounds like it's going nuts whenever I try to stream or view videos.
I've reset the PRAM already so it isn't that, I was thinking that the fans might be dusty, as someone I know had a similar problem with their HP laptop and they cleaned out a 3/8" piece of dust/dirt from the fans and now it runs smooth.

Reset the SMC, a PRAM reset doesn't do anything for the fans. The correct process is:
_SMC RESET_
• Shut down the computer.
• Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
• On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
• Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
• Press the power button to turn on the computer.
If that still doesn't work then remove the back cover of the computer and use a vacuum to remove dust from the fan area. This is easily done if you have a unibody MBP.
