Clean the project bin - how?

Prompt a command like "remove unused clips" in Premiere to slightly clean up the project bin.

I don't know why FCP doesn't do this.
Another bug bear for me coming from other Non Linear systems is that there isn't an icon or anything to indicate if the media is being used in a sequence.
Let's hope they address this soon, it was in Premiere 3 back in the mid nineties!

  • How do you make the project bin window Not come up in quick edit in PE9?

A few weeks ago I started to notice the Project Bin coming up whenever I went to quick edit. I don't think it did it before that. I always have to go to windows and uncheck it to get more screen space to work with.
How do I get the Project Bin to Not automatically come up when I press Quick edit in Premier Elements 9?

This is the Premiere Elements forum.
Quick Edit is a function of Photoshop Elements. If this is a question about Photoshop Elements, you're more likely to get an answer in the Photoshop Elements forum.

  • How do you make the project bin window Not come up in quick edit?

How do I get the Project Bin to Not automatically come up when I press Quick edit in Photoshop Elements 9?

Yes, thanks, I understand how to close it by what you said and also clicking on Project Bin title bar.
I would like to know how to change the default so the project bin does not automatically open when I open quick edit.
Anybody know how to change the default to do this?

  • How to collapse a folder in the project bin?

    Hi there.
I'm trying to figure out how to collapse/expand a folder in the project bin.
I whipped up a AEGP that listens and reports any/all command IDs, but when I collapse/expand the folder, I'm not getting any command ids.
I've noticed there are many events that don't send any sort of command ID.
Any ideas, or do you happen to know the command code that I could issue to collapse/expand a folder?
I have not yet investigated if the javascript API offers a means to collapse/expand folders.
Looking at the SDK, a folder is just another AEGP_ItemH.  Is there an attribute on it that I can set to toggle the collapse/expand? I was under the impression that AEGP_ItemH are opaque objects, but I'm still pretty new to this SDK (and well, C programming) so I wasn't sure how to go about inspecting the object.
    thanks!!
    -Andy

    Tom,
I have now discovered that your suggestion works, but ONLY IF there are NO BACKGROUND TASKS running.  I kept trying this over & over and I did eventually discover an almost imperceptible & very brief extra bolding of the folder name.  However, the focus would never stay on the label.  At some point I noticed my Background Tasks had stopped and then I could change the folder name as any Mac user would expect.  So, there is some undesirable effect associated with the background tasks.
Thanks for confirming how it is supposed to work.

  • How to completely hide the Project Bin in PSE 6?

Is there any way to completely hide the Project Bin in Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac? I don't need it, and it's hogging screen real estate. I've seen posts that say it can be hidden using the Window menu in PSE 10, but that doesn't work in PSE 6.
    Thanks!

    Hi Barbara:
Thanks for your reply. I get no action clicking anywhere near the left edge, the right edge, or any edge.
The thing I want to hide is the entire gray bar that's obscuring the bottom of my screen. In the following image, it's the area that contains the words "Show Project Bin", plus the frame edge above it (the area for which the cursor turns into the double-arrow resizer).
Apparently, Adobe's idea of "hiding" the Project Bin means reducing it to the size shown in the above image from its expanded size, as shown in the following image:
I can "Hide" that large area by clicking on the "Hide Project Bin" button. But that doesn't remove the annoying project bin frame. I want the entire thing gone. That's what I haven't been able to figure out how to do. No amount of probing and clicking with the mouse reveals any way of exterminating that nuisance.
I'm probably missing something. It is unconscionable that Adobe would arbitrarily reduce my usable screen size by stealing control of my workspace, so I assume there must be a way to eliminate that "feature".
    Thanks again.

  • Saving Edited pics from the project bin

I am a little rusty as I havent used my PSE 9 for quite some time and I cant remember how to save the files that have been edited in the project bin.  I click on File - Save As........But it will only allow me to save one pic at a time.  Thats it.  Can someone please refresh my memory on this.  I may be doing it all wrong..

You need to double click on your main image and then drag your second image up from the project bin. That creates separate images on separate layers.

  • Show organizer files in the project bin.

In the project bin the default option is to "show open files".  But there is an additional oprion in the drop down menu "Show files from Orgainzer".  I am just learning to use elements 8 and am reading a book that describes this and see the drop down menu in my program but when I choose that option nothing is displayed.  The open file thumbnail goes away but nothing from orgaizer replaces it.  Is this a bug in the program or am I doing something wrong?   Julie

Sorry for the perhaps silly question, but did you send multiple files from the organizer to the editor? It's not just a shortcut to see all the photos in the organizer--it only shows the images you've sent over for editing. Are you saying you did send a bunch of files and they still don't appear? If you click back to the organizer do those images show the red band with a lock on it?

  • I have photos that are rotated within a photo stream created from a project even though the photo displays properly within the project. How can I get the photos to have the proper rotation within the photo stream?

I have a photo stream that was created from a subset of photo from a rather large Aperature project. Some of the photos show up rotated within the photo stream but are not rotated within the project. Why is this happening and how do I fix the rotation within the photo stream? I do have the latest version of Aperature and have all of the necessary updates applied to my devices used to view the photo stream. The photos do show up rotated within the photo stream segment of Aperature, so I am sure it is not an issue with the output device (iPad and Apple TV). I do know that I cannot edit photos within a photo stream, but no amount of editing within the project allows the photos to be properly rotated within the photo stream. All help would be greatly appreciated.

That will work, but it is the long way 'round.
As Frank noted, Book Albums are just specialized Albums.  Albums can show any Image in your Library, regardless of where the Album is located on the Library Inspector, and regardless of which Project contains the Image.  You can put your Albums anywhere (in a Folder called "Books" for example).  You can put Images from anywhere in your Library in any Album.
    The easy way 'round:
    - Make a new Book Album
    - Select Images you may want to put in your Book.  Flag them.
    - Select some more.  Flag them.
    - Go to the "Flagged" container (listed near the top of the Library Inspector), select all, and drag-and-drop them to your Book Album.
    - Repeat as needed, or just drag-and-drop directly into the Book Album.
Note that you can remove any Image from any Album (including Books) by selecting and hitting the "{Delete}" key.  This _does not remove the Image from the Project that contains it, or from the Library.
Note, too, that once the Images are in your Book Album, you then put them in the Book you are creating for publication.  The Book Album contains the superset of Images with which you populate the Book itself.  The Book Album also holds the Book.
A good (imho ) introduction to the parts of Aperture can be found in this short guide I wrote.
The User Manual is helpful.  Here is
    the chapter on making Books.
    From that chapter, here is
the section detailing how to create and populate a Book Album.

  • Can't drag images to the project bin in photoshop Element 8

    Hello,
I'm new to Photoshop Element 8 on Mac ( I was using photoshop element 5 on PC before).  For some reason I can't seem to be able to drag any files to my project bin!  The only way I have managed to open files in PSE 8 is trough the File-Open menu which is really  annoying and makes  everything very time consuming.   Help Please!
    D.B.

    Hi DB
You can do this from the OS.
    Open the Editor.
Open the folder and minimize it.
Command click on the items you want or select all and drag into the main window of the PSE Editor.
Or simply select the number of images you want in organizer and hit Full Edit.

  • In elements 11 all my icons are missing under the expert tab in the panel bins, How can I get these back?

I'm using Photoshop Elements 11 and I'm wanting to add some effects and graphics. I went under the expert tab and the panel bin for the effect and graphics seems like it's not loading the icons/options, it's just blank. How can I get the panel bin to display the effects and graphics options?

    Go to
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\11.0
    and delete the
    ThumbDatabase.db3
    Then go to
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\11.0\Locale\en_us
    and delete the
    MediaDatabase.db3
Then start the photoshop elements 11 editor and wait till the effects database rebuilds, which could take awhile, like 10 to 20 minutes, so just pse 11 idle so to speak until it completes.

  • Use the Project Bin in the Edit workspace

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshopelements/using/WS287f927bd30d4b1f626a494c12e28b3ab58- 7fed.html

what is the small icon upper right corner of fotos in project bin? It looks like a paint brush on a square. It's existence corresponds with an inability to change the foreground and background colors. thx.

  • How do I save all the images in the project bin at once

So I don't have to double-click on each one of them and click save.
The only way I have figured out how to do it is actually close photoshop to get it to ask me to save each image one at a time...  Surely, there is a better way which I am missing??
By the way, it's whacked that when I double-click on File 24.psd to select it, then I click File, then I click Save it asks me what I want to name it, and when I leave it with the same name and click OK it tells me a file with that name exists and asks me if I want to click OK overwrite it??  So much clicking...
Of course I want to overwrite it... that's the file I have open...  This program takes some getting used to from a newbie perspective...
    Thank you!!

    Hi,
For saving all of the images, have you tried File -> Close All
That will close all the images which presumably be OK as you have finished with them.
There are some saving preferences Edit -> Preferences -> Saving
One of them can be set to ask or overwrite.
    Hope that helps
    Brian

  • How can I make PSE open with a blank slate - nothing in the Projects Bin?

When I open PSE 10, I want and expect a blank workspace. But when PSE opens, the last open file always appears, even  if I saved or closed it before closing PSE.
I don't see any pref to correct this, and I shouldn't have to close a file before I can begin working.

This is a lion thing, not a PSE thing. First go to system preferences>General and turn off restore windows:
Then go to your username>library>saved application states and delete the one(s) for PSE. You will need to option-click the Go menu in the Finder to see this library, since it's normally hidden in Lion.
EDIT If you want to turn it off only for PSE, it doesn't work that way. You will need to delete the saved state every time you want to start PSE if you don't want to disable this feature for all programs.
