Clean the SPOOL SP01

Hi,
In the business scenario we scheduled the reports
- RSPPFPROCESS
- ZBBP_GET_STATUS_2
- BBP_SC_TRANSFER_GROUPED
- CLEAN_REQREQ_UP
Then, in the SPOOL we are having many requests. The number of requests increase every day due that every two weeks we are having troubles with the memory and the performance of the system.
The system generate dumps then we need to enter in to the SP01 transaction and delete manually all the requests.
Is there a report or configuration to delete or clean the spool automatically????
Thanks.

Hi,
That is a job for your system admin. System admin should schedule admin jobs.

  • Problem with multiple instances of shared printers being installed on client computers when the spooler service is started

    Hello,
    We have Windows Server 2012 and clients using Windows 8.  We've been having some printer problems for awhile now that I haven't been able to figure out for the life of me.  The main problem is the fact that printers are installed on computers automatically
    once the drivers are installed.  The side-effect of multiple instances of each printer showing up is very annoying but I suspect fixing the initial problem will resolve this secondary one.
    Here is the rundown:
    We add the shared printers on logon to the clients using the GPO thus installing the drivers locally.
    Whenever the spooler on the client is restarted with the drivers installed, all of the
    shared printers that were previously installed get duplicated 5 more times (for a total of 6 instances of each shared printer) on the "Devices and Printers" page.  This happens
    all the time.
    Removing them only fixes the issue temporarily, as soon as the spooler or computer is restarted, it seems these shared printers are somehow found on the network and the duplicates return.
    Two of these printers are located on different clients, installed locally and shared while the other three are all installed on a server and shared through it.  The issue is the same on all of them.
    Cleaning the spooler completely (registry and files from C:\system32\spool) fixes the issue temporarily as well since, as soon as the drivers are reinstalled, the issue occurs again.
    I've tried many things (disabling the GPO, editing the GPO, printer shares, registry, etc.) and searched tirelessly online for a cause and solution but I'm stumped.  Does anybody have any idea what might be causing this problem and how to resolve it?
    Thanks for your time!
    Update #1: I just tried adding the NoNetCrawling option in the registry found in this article -> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320138/en-us
    I couldn't find the same for Windows 8 unfortunately.  I also tried disabling network discovery and all other sharing options to no avail.
    Update #2: I tried isolating the computer to a different subnet and restarting the spooler and, sure enough, the issue didn't occur.  This proves that the issue is network share related.  Also, as soon as I change the IP back to the regular domain
    subnet one, the multiple printer instances re-appeared again.
    Update #3: I just tried doing the same thing but on the server where the printers are installed and shared and, sure enough, despite being in a different subnet, the issue occurred.  This leads me to believe there is a setting on this server at fault.
     Question is, which one?

    We have deployed a brand new Active Directory domain for a customer. ALL the servers without exception are Windows 2012 R2 and all clients are Windows 8.1 32bit VDI clients.
    The issue that we have is around network printers.
    We are deploying 4 printers  from a Windows 2012 R2 Server via the print management/Deploy Printer and assigning that to a GPO. The printers are deployed to the Computers which should mean that the users get all 4 printers which they then should be allowed
    to set their default and personal settings for that printer.
    Our printers are deployed like this:
    1. Created security group
    2. Assigned VDI computers to the security group
    3. Created GPO to reflect security group
    4. Modify GPO to do security filtering based on computer group membership
    5. Deployed 4 x printers through Print Management to the GPO on a per machine basis
    However, on the users Devices and Printers screen we are not seeing the 4 printers. For some users
    they see duplicates of all 4 printers so e.g they can have upwards of 8 or more. Other users have no printers displayed whatsoever. The next time they log off or restart they then have a different amount of printers displayed.
    If they try and set the default then it will set and the next time they check the default may have moved to another printer even without logging off or back on.
    Now, where this gets strange is within an application such as MS Word 2013 or Notepad if they use the file and print menu the printers will be listed, even if the user has no printers displayed in Devices and Printers. If the users selects a printer then they
    can then print OK.
    If we check HKCU\Printers||Connections then the CORRECT 4 printers are showing as to what is being deployed via the GPO so I know that the Windows 8.1 terminals are receiving the correct printers from the GPO.
    To try and correct this over the course of the week we have deployed the printers via Group Policy Preferences to the user and then the PC to no avail. Currently we are using the Print management\Deployed Printers to deploy all 4 printers to the computer via
    the Computer GPO.
    I believe that this issue is related to the display somehow in Devices and Printers rather than a GPO or print server issue as we can see via the registry the clients are receiving the 4 correct mentioned printers as shown in the registry.
    FYI: We only have around 30 users and all users are getting this problem. All users are receiving the same GPO's and have the same few apps installed, Office 2013, Adobe Reader etc.
    What we want is for the computers to receive all 4 printers. All users should be able to use all 4 printers but the user should be able to select their particular default, depending where they are located or what they are printing that particular day. Their
    particular default should persist after reboot. (We have 2 x Copiers and 2 x HP Laserjets) All users have redirected documents and desktop but the rest of the profile is on the VDI and persists after their reboot. The profile is not roaming as the user is
    assigned a particular VDI.
    After a week of scratching our heads with this we are open to suggestions and any would be appreciated.
    We have tried following the issues on this thread to no avail either as they still return.

  • Why is it important to monitor SP01 or the Spool Requests?

    Hello Guys,
    Part of my tasks is to monitor the SAP systems we are handling but I would like to get the concept of the need to monitor SP01 such as if there are errors what is the impact in the system? In the spool work process etc?
    Can you help me through?
    Thanks,
    Jennah

    Hello,
    Normally you won't need to monitor SP01, cause many times the amount of spool requests generated is too large and lets say you do wish to monitor only those spools which had an error still its better to check this in SM21 as it would have more details about what went wrong.
    To keep your TEMSE database (spool database) healthy, I would rather monitor and run transactions and execute menu options of the following.
    SP12 -> Temse Data Storage -> Consistency checks
    SPAD -> Administration -> Check Consistency
    As deepak noted, you can schedule standard cleanup jobs SAP_REORG_SPOOL to perform regular cleanup.
    Start transaction SM36 and click on the standard jobs button, this would take you to a screen where you can schedule standard jobs.
    Select the job related to SPOOL and schedule it with the required parameters.
    Here is the list of Standard Basis jobs that you should have in your systems.

  • Print the job from the spool in abtch mode

    I want to be able to print a job from the spool in batch mode. In other words a job currently exists that creates a report that currently goes to a printer.
    The user wants the report to print on two different printers. This extra printer cannot be placed in the job, since SAP only allows one printer per output. What I would like is to find a SAP program that would accept a spool name and a printer destination. It necessary we can write a program that might execute a SAP function to do the same.
    SP01, the spool transaction, does not easily adapt itself to batch execution. I donu2019t want to create a bdc session using it.

    Hi,
    If the domain of these fields are of type SYTIME, then adding the fields like a numeric value should suffice.

  • Not able to generate the spool from transaction cv02n .Kindly help,urgent..

    Hi ALL,
            I have a problem in transaction CV02N. Actually i am an ABAPER, but i need some help of PP Guys.
    The requirement is as follows:-
       The client says that they have uploaded a  '.PS'  file into the transaction cv02n.Here in the first screen they give doc, doc type,doc part, doc version. when clicked on enter it take us to second screen , where they enter the '.PS' file path under 'originals' , in the tab 'document data'.   Later they goto transaction CO01 and release an order at the operation level and save it.
    Then it generates a spool. Now if we goto SP01 and check the spool with the number generated during saving CO01. We will be getting the scripts and the '.PS' file separately in a different spool in the production system in 4.6. But in my new upgraded system(6.0), i am not able to view the '.PS' file in the output spool.It seems to me that, it is not getting generated. Pls suggest me, as it is a very urgent issue. Need to close it by today at 1.00pm.
    Regards,
    Manasa.S

    dear friend,
    there would be several reasons for that.
    first, check out your Output Device (your user in SU01) - goto to tab Defaults and look at Spool Control.
    did you tick the 'output immediately' checkbox?
    Fix it if nessesary. Just in case run SPAD to check out your device.
    second, check out the 'output' config for Document Management (because you use t-code CV02N).
    also make sure that relevant output condition exists.
    third, ask someone to do the same - another user with another output device. does he/she have the same problem?
    and the last, try to find out the functional guy or documentation.
    also ask your basis guy regarding the lost transports or any other issues...
    do not worry, life is good.
    good luck!

  • Saving the data from the spool

    I have this big data dump(120,000 records) from the table mseg in the spool. I have to save that to a local file for some analysis purpose. Saving that as a local file is not giving me the full data.
    Please give me any suggestions to get the full data.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Tony

    Looks like SAP has a limit to 10 Pages. But, this can be modified. SP01>Execute with your selection, then Menu>Goto--> Display requests > Settings> you see the option to increase the page count.
    The above change depends on memories. Hope this helps.

  • What is the spool, what is its role in background job scheduling

    Hi,
    I want to know what is meant by Spool request and spool number generated.
    Tell about transaction SP01.
    How it is linked to Background job scheduling.
    thanks.
    sam.

    Hi,
    Refer this link.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/inf?rid=/library/uuid/7a5f4061-0a01-0010-c9bc-a4e4cb100438
    About SP01.
    Printing does not work in SAP. There is a printer definition for your local printer, but it does not work. Presuming that you use the program SAPLPD on your computer.
    Boot your computer and start only the SAPLogon and the SAPLpd program.
    Delete all of your old print jobs in the SAP system (Transaction SP01).Generate only one new print job.
    Check that there is enough resource in your computer. Check the free memory (Win 3.1x) and the free disk space (The lists are temporarily saved on your disk).
    Open the SAPLPD and read the print log in the window. The printer definition must correspond with the parameters shown here.
    Check that the standard printer is on the same lpt (Win 3.1: Control panel, Printer) as defined for the printer (usually lpt1).
    In Transaction SP01 read the protocol of your print job. Do not generate new print jobs! Wait till the SAP system changes the status of the print job.
    If you can not find the print job in SP01 anymore, then the print job was successfully printed out. If it didn't come out on your printer and the SAPLpd didn't indicate an incoming print job, then the connection was realised with another PC. Then SAP printer definition you used, does not correspond with your computer.
    Scheduling Background Jobs:
    1.        Background jobs are scheduled by Basis administrators using transaction SM36.
    2.        To run a report in a background, a job needs to be created with a step using the report name
    and a variant for selection parameters. It is recommended to create a separate variant for each
    scheduled job to produce results for specific dates (e.g. previous month) or organizational units (e.g.
    company codes).
    3.        While defining the step, the spool parameters needs to be specified
    (Step-> Print Specifications->Properties) to secure the output of the report and help authorized users
    to find the spool request. The following parameters needs to be maintained:
    a.        Time of printing: set to u201CSend to SAP spooler Only for nowu201D
    b.        Name u2013 abbreviated name to identify the job output
    c.        Title u2013 free form description for the report output
    d.        Authorization u2013 a value defined by Security in user profiles to allow those users to access
    this spool request (authorization object  S_SPO_ACT, value SPOAUTH).  Only users with matching
    authorization value in their profiles will be able to see the output.
    e.        Department u2013 set to appropriate department/functional area name. This field can be used in
    a search later.
    f.        Retention period u2013 set to u201CDo not deleteu201D if the report output needs to be retained for more
    than 8 days. Once the archiving/document repository solution is in place the spool requests could
    be automatically moved to the archive/repository. Storage Mode parameter on the same screen
    could be used to immediately send the output to archive instead of creating a spool request.
    Configuring user access:
    1.        To access a report output created by a background job, a user must have at
    least access to SP01 (Spool requests) transaction without restriction on the user
    name (however by itself it will not let the user to see all spool requests). To have
    that access the user must have S_ADMI_FCD authorization object in the profile with
    SPOR (or SP01) value of S_ADMI_FCD parameter (maintained by Security).
    2.        To access a particular jobu2019s output in the spool, the user must have
    S_SPO_ACT object in the profile with SPOAUTH parameter matching the value used
    in the Print Specifications of the job (see p. 3.d above).
    3.        Levels of access to the spool (display, print once, reprint, download, etc) are
    controlled by SPOACTION parameter of S_SPO_ACT. The user must have at least
    BASE access (display).
    On-line reports:
    1.        Exactly the same configuration can be maintained for any output produced
    from R/3. If a user clicks u201CParametersu201D button on a SAP Printer selection dialog, it
    allows to specify all the parameters as described in p. 3 of
    u201CScheduling background jobsu201D section. Thus any output created by an online report
    can be saved and accessed by any user authorized to access that spool request
    (access restriction provided by the Authorization field of the spool request
    attributes, see p. 3.d of u201CScheduling background jobsu201D section).
    Access to reportu2019s output:
    1.        A user that had proper access (see Configuring user access above) can
    retrieve a job/report output through transaction SP01.
    2.        The selection screen can be configured by clicking u201CFurther selection
    criteriau2026u201D button (e.g. to bring u201CSpool request name (suffix 2)u201D field or hide other
    fields).
    3.        The following fields can be used to search for a specific output (Note that
    Created By must be blank when searching for scheduled jobu2019s outputs)
    a.        Spool request name (suffix 2) u2013 corresponds to a spool name in p. 3.b in
    u201CScheduling background jobsu201D section above).
    b.        Date created u2013 to find an output of a job that ran within a certain date range.
    c.        Title u2013 corresponds to spool Title in p. 3.c in u201CScheduling background jobsu201D
    section above).
    d.        Department - corresponds to spool Department in p. 3.e in u201CScheduling
    background jobsu201D section above).
    4.        Upon entering selection criteria, the user clicks the Execute button   to
    retrieve the list of matching spool requests.
    5.        From the spool list the user can use several function such as view the
    content of a spool request, print the spool request, view attributed of the spool
    request, etc. (some functions may need special authorization, see p.3 in
    Configuring user access)
    a.        Click the Print button   to print the spool request with the default attributes
    (usually defined with the job definition). It will print it on a printer that was
    specified when a job was created.
    b.        Click the u201CPrint with changed attributedu201D button   to print the spool request
    with the different attributes (e.g. changing the printer name).
    c.        Click the u201CDisplay contentsu201D button   to preview the spool request contents. A
    Print    and Download   functions are available from the preview mode.
    Exporting the Contents of a Spool Request
    Use
    You want to export the contents of a spool request as a text file to the SAP GUI working directory or to a directory of your choice. The content of the spool request is downloaded as plain text without, for example, graphics, images, or specific fonts.
    The following procedures are irrelevant for the PDF-based form printing integrated as of SAP Web Application Server 6.40, since the print data can be opened and stored as a PDF. See also Displaying and Printing PDF-Based Forms.
    Procedure
    Exporting to the SAP GUI Working Directory:
    Choose Spool Request ® Forward® Export as Text.
    The entire text is stored in your SAP GUI working directory in ASCII format.
    A file of this type is named using the following pattern:
    .txt
    Example: ABC0000004327.txt
    You require appropriate authorization for this function.
    Exporting to a Directory of Your Choice:
    With this method of exporting a spool request, the content of the spool request is first displayed and you then download the screen list as a text file to the directory of your choice.
           1.      Select the spool request to be exported and choose  Display Contents.
           2.      In the case of SAPScript/Smart Forms documents, activate list display by choosing Goto.
           3.      Choose System ® List ® Save ® Local File.
           4.      Choose one of the available formats and confirm your choice.
           5.      Choose a directory and save the spool request.
    By default, only the first 10 pages of a spool request are saved in a file. You can increase the number of pages to be saved by choosing Goto ® Display Requests ® Settings and making the desired entries in the Display Area group box.

  • How to get the full file content in the spool

    Hi,
         I am reading one fine from application server. I am getting all that content into one internal table. Again I am trying to write that one into spool. I am creating one spool by using
         CALL FUNCTION 'GET_PRINT_PARAMETERS'
        EXPORTING
         DESTINATION    = P_PADEST
          DESTINATION    = lv_dest
          LIST_NAME      = lv_name
         LIST_TEXT      = P_LNAME
          LIST_TEXT      = 'Label Print'
          IMMEDIATELY    = 'X'
          RELEASE        = ' '
          NEW_LIST_ID    = 'X'
          EXPIRATION     = 9
          LAYOUT         = 'X_65_80'
          SAP_COVER_PAGE = ' '
          RECEIVER       = SY-UNAME

          NO_DIALOG      = 'X'
        IMPORTING
          OUT_PARAMETERS = IS_PARAMS
          VALID          = V_VALID.
           but in the spool i am not getting full content. In the internal table i am getting full content but in the spool some 5 to 6 lines are truncating at the last. How can i get the full content? For this i need to do any settings?
    Pls suggest reg this.

    may be the rest of the data is in another page. how many pages your spool showing. just check in SP01 . from menu Goto -> Display Requests -> Settings ->
    change the page numbers to view the other pages.

  • Changing the Spool Name

    In the SP01 Transaction there is an option to search for the Spool by .
    1.Spool request name
    2.Spool request name (suffix 1)
    3.Spool request name (suffix 2)
    The above three parameters are set automatically by system.
    I am printing the spool in the following way
      NEW-PAGE PRINT ON NO DIALOG
                           COVER TEXT 'Test Spool'
                           DESTINATION space
                           IMMEDIATELY space
                           KEEP IN SPOOL space.
         WRITE : / 'Amit Behera'.
      NEW-PAGE PRINT OFF.
    I tried to change the default value of the system fields <b>SY-PRDSN</b> and     <b>SY-PLIST</b> when the control was on <b>WRITE : / 'Amit Behera'.</b>, the values got changed at the runtime but when I double clicked the spool number the <b>'Name'</b> section still contained the default system values and not the one I had changed at the runtime.
    I tried the FM <b>'SET_PRINT_PARAMETERS'</b> and <b>'RSPO_SET_ATTRIBUTES_SPOOLJOB'</b> but it didn't work.
    How do I go on to change these values ? Please let me know.
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to see all the columns in the spool output of an ABAP program

    I have an ABAP program which displays all the columns when I run it manually. (by scrolling to the right using right arrows). When I run that report in the scheduler and when I see the output in the spool in transaction SP01, it does allow me to go to the right to see all columns.
    thanks
    Ram

    Check OSS Note 409339 - Spool requests with ABAP lists with more than 255 columns.
    Summary
    Symptom
    As of Release 4.6x, the ABAP list processor can create spool requests for ABAP lists with a width of more
    than 255 columns. However, when you print using the SAP spool, only the start of the list lines is printed,
    the rest of the line is truncated at the end of the page.
    Other terms
    ABAP, lists, print parameter, LINE-SIZE
    Reason and Prerequisites
    Creating "wide" lists on the screen (in other words, lists in the SAPGUI with more than 255 columns) was
    already introduced by the ABAP list processor for Release 4.0B. However, before Release 4.6 these lists
    cannot be printed out in the width used on screen.
    In older releases (for example, 4.0B, 4.5B), you were not able to generate spool requests for lists with a
    width of more than 255 columns:
    The system issues error message PT 026: "No. of columns > 255, no standard print-out possible".
    Therefore, we did not have the problem described here of non-existing device-type support in 4.0/4.5 for
    printing out "wide" lists.
    Up to and including 4.6C there are no SAP device types that support print formats for lists with a width of
    more than 255 characters). Since Release 3.0A, all SAP device types support a maximum list width of 255
    characters with device format X_65_255.
    Solution
    When you create the spool request and a print dialog box appears, enter a column width of maximum 255
    in the "Number of columns" field.
    As of Release 4.6D, you have the option of using device type SWIN with the new format X_65_1024/4 when
    printing with Windows (see Note 213382).

  • SPOOL SP01 Problem

    Hi All,
    I am working on an HR form... that form is printing perfectly fine with proper alignment but when I went to the spool using sp01 (before getting it print) and looked at the form, there was some alignment problem and there were few fields which are not aligned properly...
    So can you please tell me how can I fix this problem.
    Thanks,
    Rajeev

    Hi Venkat.
    Thanks for the reply.... but I couldn't find that line alignment option..
    Can you please tell me where exactly I can get that.
