Clean up window and make firefox show what it needs to

I a having a huge problem with firefox as well as most all other browsers I use a netbook computer nearly 100% of the time because of the portability, but I have found that netbooks screens typically are not as big as desk tops, now I don't mean physical size but content size, an example would be back when things were only text, (yeah I am that old) the screen size was 80 by 40 or 80 character's wide ad 40 lines long for a full screen, however i don't know how to make this example in graphics, where nearly everything now resides, but the netbooks seem to save space on their displays by removing the last two lines at the bottom of the screen so every thing seems to look right but where my problem, is many websites and several programs will pop up a window that tends to be locked into place and the "accept", "continue" and many other necessary buttons and such, are at the bottom to the popup and I cannot get to the buttons so I cannot use the program or website because when I try to move the popup or advance to the button the popup will move and show the buttons but when I release the window it will slide or pop back to the position where I can no longer see of get to the buttons
Is there something I can do with firefox to get access to these buttons when no matter what I try, the pup up bounces back to the unusable position before I can click the button(choices)
One last thing I have a question on. Lately I had the bookmarks left pane just display by its self as in the question at http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/847020 except unlike this person I actually had a [X] at the top but it would not allow me to close the pane (making my already smaller display more difficult to use) but thankfully I ran across this question and tried the answer of "{Ctrl + B} closes & opens the Bookmarks Sidebar" and thankfully it went away but where can i get all the hot key combinations that lets me do things without using the mouse? And how did this pane pop up on its own and why didn't the [X] at the pane top allow me to close it?
Thank you

I have this same problem, but I believe it is a major problem and not just an annoyance as in the original poster.
It seems my laptop displays the proper width but is lacking the last inch at the bottom of the screen, and the websites I visit a lot will have pop up windows that grey out the original screen and has a blue bar at the top of the pop up but if I try to grab the window and move it up so I can get to the necessary selections buttons at the bottom, then I release the window it either slides back to its original position or it pops back to its original position.
I believe this is a programming problem with the website but I find it hard to believe a web author would do such a stupid thing like this making the website totally useless for those people who use laptops, tablets, and mobile devices. where the screens do not display the normal size of a typical desktop monitor. Knowing that today, of those people who access the internet, 82% of them will access the internet from a laptop, notebook,, tablet, or other mobile devices. Any web designer who uses this lock in place pop up window should know they are losing 82% of the potential customers simply because they are not able to access the proper buttons at the bottom of the popup window.
I have been a computer expert nearly as long as the original poster (I missed the text only stage of computer displays) and I cannot figure out any way of getting around this stupid coding mistake in website design, so the website is useable. So if FoxFire could give me a way I can get past this coding mistake and let me gain access to the un-movable or re-display to a position popup, I guess I will be like the other 82% of surfers today, and simply go to a website that does not make using their site imposable because they are too stupid to know that today's web-surfing customers use other methods to view the internet and who leave their desktops at home.
I cannot believe web developers don't check their website coding on several devices before posting the site for internet usage, I know I check everything I write on all the devices I can before I will upload the site to the internet, oh well, my customers will get the surfers and they will simply get ignored because surfers cannot use their sites.

  • Install print driver in 10.4, and make it show on the print drivers list.

    Hi,
I can't seem to install my Canon print driver, and make it show on the print drivers list. I have a Canon MP180 as a network printer on a Windows Computer, and it requires special printing drivers, not the OSX bundled ones. Without it, I can't print to it. Even with the driver installed, I can't see it on the list of drivers.
    Any help is appreciated.

    1. Bonjour for Windows is installed and configured properly, although it will not install or see an HP driver for the HP Photosmart C3100 printer. The only drivers the PC sees are Generic PCL and Generic Postscript. Bonjour for Windows "sees" the Photosmart printer, plugged into the Mac.
    2. I don't believe the Mac's firewall is on. I'm using a SonicWall firewall appliance between our home network and the Internet.
    3. Printer sharing on the PC -- as I'm sure you know -- isn't configured as it is on the Mac. There is an option to share the HP Photosmart on the PC (if the printer were plugged directly into the PC), but that is disabled. Printer sharing cannot be configured for the instance of the HP Photosmart that was installed by Bonjour for Windows.

  • If I reinstall Windows and restore Firefox profile, will I have the same issues I did before?

I assume if I reinstall Windows and restore Firefox 14.0.1 profile with the profile folder I backed up, I will have the same issues as I did before I backed up and reinstalled. Presently, it sucks down memory (including flash plugin, 500 or 600MB, I save, close and reopen it with same tabs, it uses half of that), bookmarks drop down freezes and FF is generally sluggish. I have tried disabling addons but that doesn't help. I use ccleaner everyday. Will it be just like I never did a reinstall if I restore that profile? or is there a better way to reinstall portions of it at a time and check performance as I do. I dont want to dive deep into the bowels of FF and do intricate micro-tinkering if I dont have to; I have put up with it for this reason.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.

  • How Can i clean my memory and make my imac more faster ?

I am new user in mac i have imac 4 g ram  and need a way to clean the memory and make my imac more faster ...

You can't "clean" RAM. If the "storage" space on your hard drive isn't enough then put in a larger hard drive or delete any of your data you no longer need or can store on an external drive. Beyond this I cannot say because you have not provided enough information such as the amount of installed RAM, Capacity of your hard drive and the amount of available space on the hard drive, the specific iMac model you have.
    You can try reinstalling Lion:
    Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.
However, if your computer doesn't have enough RAM or your hard drive is full, then reinstalling won't help.

  • I have a new computer and I am trying to find a link to download photoshop elements premier 11 the link I was sent by the tech only shows what I need...what I need is an actual download button

I have a new computer and I am trying to find a link to download photoshop elements premier 11 the link I was sent by the tech only shows what I need...what I need is an actual download button

This is actually the Photoshop forum. Premiere Elements forum is here
    Premiere Elements
I assume you realise that 11 is not the current version, which is now up to 12
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=premiere_elements&loc=us
And if yes, that you had 11 installed on your last computer?   Did that come on a disk or download?  If disk, have you now lost that disk?
If yes, and you registered your software, log on to your Adobe account, and find My Orders (or similar).  You may find the download link and your serial number there.

  • Today my daughter could download 2 aps on her phone without my permission.  We are part of family share and her settings show that she needs my permission to download anything.

Today my daughter could download 2 apps on her phone without my permission.  We are part of family share and her settings show that she needs my permission to download everything.  How could she download the apps if I did not giver her permission.  I thought that was the point of family sharing in the cloud.

Yes, Family sharing is almost not useable this way. Once you activate it you won't be able to load some of the best/essential apps even though they are free. But they are blocked by the Patriarch of the Family. :-(...
I do not understand why this issue does not get bigger Attention? Does noone use familiy sharing yet? Or do they activate it right after they have loaded all those essential apps beforehand?

  • Clean install and then restoring just what is needed

I have a machine running SL. It is fine as far as SL is concerned.
Back in time I started out with Panther on a 12" PB. I upgraded hardware and software a few times. As my profile shows I have a MBP 17" with the latest OS.
I had a hard drive fail last Christmas. Apple was great and they replaced the drive. As I was in the US and the backup was in the UK I used the machine for about 2 weeks before I could attempt to restore files. When I got back I found that the account set up did not match so the restore was not clean.
In any event I likely have some legacy files or other junk kicking around that I do not need. Some of it will be outside the user part of the filesystem (old apps, old library files for apps that were deleted long ago).
I had a number of application crashes over the last year running Leopardi. When in at the Apple store to get a fan replaced the Genius suggested that it might be time to think about a clean install. After I told him that I have had a number of system crashes he definitely suggested it was time for a clean install.
Basic model is back everything up and then install from the factory issued disk. Once I have a clean system on the computer I can bring across my files.
Question: How do I get only the files I need or want and not some of the old junk? Frankly I have no idea just what things I need or want in terms of legacy system files. I am pretty sure that everything in my home direction and down from there will be wanted. There will be some apps that I no longer need but how to make sure I am deleting all the associated files is unclear.
I have lots of spare disc space on external drives so I can make a Carbon Copy of the system and a Time Machine back up on a different drive. I am confident of my ability to follow the process once someone can explain what will consistently work. The time involved is not a concern.
    Suggestions?

Mac OS X doesn't have a clean install per se.
However, making two bootable clones should allow you room to erase and install Snow Leopard, and just migrate over user data from specific user data folders.
You may have to reregister your licenses for licensed software to avoid issues.
See these two resources to make sure your applications either need Snow Leopard, and/or are Snow Leopard compatible:
    http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/
    http://www.macintouch.com/specialreports/snowleopard/slcompat.html
and make sure your printers and scanners are Snow Leopard compatible with their drivers:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669
Once that's all the case, then you can migrate your user data from the specific folders on your backup*:

  • Ssl_error_rx_record_too_long keep getting this error message when trying to access amazon secure pages also on IE and on firefox android what is it?

thought problem was solved but keeps recurring; v frustrating since at times all works fine while at others...
    I have a direct connection and the no proxy option selected on firefox connection settings;

    I spoke too soon,
    I reckon the main feature of the problem is its fickleness;
a minute ago I managed a purchase on amazon, now I can't even log in.
Checked with isp provider; MTU size is correct ; they don't think there is an issue with them; they advised to check firewall settings; but this doesn't account for the problem being on and off. For what is worth I use windows firewall and norton as antivirus.
    Any ideas?

  • Every time I start Windows, and start Firefox, it crashes when I enter a website. It continues for about 5 minutes.

Firefox keeps on crashing for about 5 minutes after system startup. Disabling add-ons doesn't help.

Try a clean re-install, certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!
