Cleaning Apple 20" Cinema with iKlear

Hello my friends
I've tried to clean my new Apple 20" Cinema display with the iKlear wipes I bought from the Apple Store...
Once done, I can notice that there are still little maks that are external and I would like to know what product you are using to clean up your Cinema Display... I can'r stand my display isn't totally free of traces even if they're very small...
Thanks

Hello
I have tried out 2 products I've bought on the Apple Store :
- iKlear : Not that good onto the LCD display. There are still traces. iKlear is very good for cleaning the cases of Mac and peripheral devices though.
- iClean : Fantastic for the display cleaning !!!! Not a trace at all. It's for sure the best solution for the LCDs since it restores the brilliant of the display.
I hope this will help thoses of us seeking the best for their Apple Cinema Display(s). :-)

  • Apple 27" Cinema with Macbook Windows And OSX on diff screens?

Basically I use Parallels 5 (soon to upgrade to v6) on a Macbook Pro 4GB Unibody (2008?)
If I connect a 27" Cinema Display, is it possible to keep the MBP lid open, and run Parallels on the Macbook Pro screen to the side, and main OSX on the 27"
Can both screens be open, seperate and move programs between the screens like its almost "two computers"?

Yeah, make sure that you deselect mirroring displays. Move the Parallels window to the other display.

  • Apple 23 Cinema not working with nvidia 5200...help!!!

    Hey all!
I have an Apple 23" Cinema that is not working with my Windows XP machine using an NVIDIA 5200 128meg graphics card. The montior, when booting Windows, just flashes its power light 3 times...goes off...then repeats the sequence.
So, I tried a Dell 2007WFP with the XP machine using the DVI port of the card. When booting, it seems like it's going to fire up the monitor (shows splash screen and Windows logo) but then goes blank when it hits the desktop.
Oddly enough, when I plug in my Apple 30" into the DVI port of the NVIDIA card, it works just great. No fuss or muss (other than a resolution change).
The 23" also works fine with my MacPro BTW so I know the monitor is golden.
    Any takers on this one?
    Thanks in advance!

Hi Talon, I just accidentally came across your thread. Maybe I can help. I own a 23-inch cinema HD display but mine is ADC and I have to run mine through an ADC to DVI adapter.
    Anyways on to the discussion...
The nvidia 5200 is a rather old-ish card (or chipset). The feature set in these older cards are not necessarily symmetrically reciprocal (what?) throughout the feature set. In other words, the feature may work in one mode and not in the another mode...etc...
You may have seen these specs on your 5200 card/chipset:
+Dual RAMDACs (up to 400 MHz) for display resolutions up to and including 2048×1536 @ 85Hz+
and thought this would be great, my resolution is less than that @ 1920x1200 on my 23-inch cinema display. However I believe this may be referring only to the vga output signal and not the DVI. Read on...
Further down in the specs for the 5200 card/chipset you'll see:
+DVI support for compatibility with nextgeneration flat panel displays with resolutions up to and including 1600×1200+
Unfortunately, this is not enough resolution to power your 23-inch display at 1920x1200. Windows may even show the resolution 1920x1200 as available (if you're able to get to the screen) but what I think it's not telling you, it that in order for you to be able to use that resolution you'll need to switch to dual mode DVI, and the card does this automatically.
For example: 640x800 to 1600x1200 uses single mode DVI and anything above that (like our 23-inch cinema HD monitors @ 1920x1200) +using this particular card/chipset+ will be using dual mode DVI whether the monitor can support that mode or not. From my experience with my HD cinema it uses single mode DVI.
As someone said above your 23-inch is in *single mode DVI* and from my experience only accepts *single mode DVI input* from the graphics card.
From my understanding of the specs and your description of the delimma, I would suppose that you are able to get the 30 inch display to work because the 30 inch is a *dual mode DVI monitor* and your graphics card does work in dual DVI mode up to your 30-inch resolution but ONLY in dual DVI mode.
Here are the specs on it:
    http://www.nvidia.com/page/pg_20040109440047.html
I hope this helps you out.
If you were to ask my recommendation, I'd go buy a new video card that has higher resolution on the single mode DVI output. I can tell you that my ATI 2600 HD Pro (AGP) (windows version, not mac only) has two DVI ports that are both dual mode DVI capable but also dumb down to single mode DVI signaling at high enough resolution to support our 23-inch cinema HD single mode DVI displays.
    Good luck!

  • Dell 2005FPW, pivoted, with Apple 20" Cinema?

Is anyone using this configuration? I'm thinking of getting the Dell to use in portrait mode with the Apple 20" Cinema. Any advice would be ppreciated.
    G5 2GHz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   GeForce FX 5200, Apple 20" Cinema display

Thanks again to all. The Dell 2005FPW does work splendidly with the Radeon 9600. I have them probably permanently set up with the Dell in portrait mode to the right of the Apple display. Each can easily have its resolution changed independently, although I don't think quite the same resolutions are available that were with the nVidia card. (not a big deal to me.) The Dell can pretty comfortably display a full orchestral score at a readable resoluton. It's also easy to disable one monitor with software if you only want one on, useful to me because both are behind a big plexiglass music desk, and the power buttons are inconvenient to reach.
I spent some time with Applecare before it was revealed (to several Applecare folks as well as me) that the power supply for the G5 is 600W, more than ample to power the Radeon, which acoording to THEIR tech support requires 250W. The line in the G5 manual that "Combined maximum power consumption by the AGP and PCI cards is 90W" is still a mystery to me and those several Applecare people, and doesn't interest the smarmy and unhelpful Radeon tech person. I don't see how this all adds up, but nothing has melted.
    Thanks again, folks.

  • My macbook is back from repairs. It is not working with my apple led cinema display. It was working prior to the repairs on the laptop. Is there a setting I don't know about that might have been changed?

My macbook pro is just back from repairs.  It is not working with my apple led cinema display. I have followed the directions in the cinema display manual.  am I missing something?

Take a look at the Displays preference panel to see if everything is ok, particularly the resolution and refresh rate.  Displays will probably try to put the panel for the ACD on the ACD where you won't see it.  So click "Gather Windows" to get the ACD panel on to your macbook.
One more thing, make sure you fully seated the mini displayport plug.  They can be sneaky little devils in that they need to be fully pushed in.

  • NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 with Apple 23" Cinema Display?

    Hi,
I would like to know if my graphic card in my Sony Vaio PC is compatible with a 23" Apple display ? I would like to run a splitter with one feed going to my Mac Pro and the other to my PC utilizing the same Apple LCD monitor.
I have a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 with 128Mb, this card has a PCI connection, but I am not sure if my card could support the Apple 23" Cinema Display that I recently purchased to replace the 19" Envison LCD that I'm currently using ?
Does anyone have an idea ?
Is there a list somewhere giving compatble graphic card ?
The nvidia site does not say a word about cinema display !
    Thanks in advance

Apple doesn't make compatibility information known
    for non-Apple systems.
    But yes, they do.
Here is the list of tested video cards for the ACDs:

  • MBP with New Apple LED Cinema Display

Does anyone know whether it will be possible to use an early-2008 MacBook Pro with the new Apple LED Cinema Display? I know that the new display is made specifically for the latest MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air with the mini-display port, but I wondered whether there will be some type of adapter offered so that an older MacBook Pro may be used with the new display (or whether this is even possible).
    Any input is appreciated.

  • After cleaning macbook screen with iKlear, bubbles appeared...

The other night I cleaned my macbook's screen with iKlear solution. After I cleaned it I noticed about 20 very small air bubbles that had formed on the screen. When you rub the iKlear cleaning cloth over the screen you can distinctly hear the sound that air bubbles make when you move something over them...I know for a fact that this is not dirt/saliva on the screen.
This isn't a huge problem for me but these bubbles are noticable at certain angles which gets annoying.
Anyone have the same problem or have sugestions on how I can fix this problem?
    Thanks!

I see no need to use anything beyond a bit of water
on a microfiber cloth. This combo always cleans my
MB screen perfectly. The manual doesn't lie
    YUP, works perfectly. Just water.
To get a decent cloth that is a very large size and is cheap, washable, just purchase an automotive detailer's microfiber cloth pack. About five in a pack for $5.00 or so.
GM sez that to clean mirrors and glass interior to rub in only ONE direction with a damp (not wet) cloth. Works perfectly on my MacBook. My LCD is just as shiny clean as it was from the box.

  • Is Apple 27in Cinema display compatible with NVIDIA Quadro FX 4800 for Mac?

Can anyone tell me whether the new Apple 27inch Cinema display will work with the NVIDIA Quadro FX 4800 for Mac? I will use this on a MacPro with 2.66GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon “Westmere” and CS5 (Adobe recommends the NVIDIA). It seems incredible that it doesn't for whatever reason.
    Thanks

You will need a dual-link DVI to Mini DisplayPort converter.

  • Mini DisplayPort adapter for 23" Apple HD Cinema Display?

    hello all,
I'm sure this has been asked and answered here, but I can't find it! (grrr...)
I've got an 23" Apple HD Cinema display and a new iMac. The iMac has a "mini DisplayPort". Now, the Cinema Display has a 3 x 10-pin (not 3 x 8) DVI connector. The WIKI thing about DVI calls it a "DVI M1-DA (Dual link + USB)".
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DigitalVisualInterface
For the life of me, I can't find an Apple (or other) adapter with the 10-pin connector to attach to the iMac?
    many thanks,
    b myers

If it's the old, plastic cased, 23" display, it may use ADC (Apple Display Connector).
    <http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/09/AppleDisplayConnector.jpg>
In that case, you will need a DVI to ADC adapter

iPad 1 Safari Crashes Constantly and getting worse day by day.  Has Apple come up with a solution?  Now I am hearing its also happening on the newer models.  My company is about to buy a lot of tablets and I will not recommend Apple anything until they fix the problem.  Granted 30 or 40 iPads is not a huge impact but i promise once the outside world hears about this BS things will change.  There are plenty of other tablets out there that do not have this problem.  At the very least we should have the option of rolling back to a stable IOS...

I have already tried all the things mentioned above as well as other things such as other browsers etc.  Its is obviously a problem with the hardware.  I also borrowed a brand new 4th gen iPad and it does the same thing.  Even after upgrading it to 6.01.  An occasional crash is one thing and can easily be waved off but this is clearly systemic and the problem appears to be related to graphical images and videos.  Both iPads are the 64gb versions, the only difference other than model is the iPad 1 has ATT cellular.  The new version is clean i.e no other APPs loaded other than what came with it.  I have 7 more coming but im seriously considering sending them back in favor of an Android tablet or the MS Surface.

  • Frequent problems in Apple PPC Mac with OSX Leopard 10.5.8

    Hi,
Frequent problems in Apple PPC computers with OSX Leopard10.5.8
I have a Imac 17icnh G5 2Ghz  512 ram (Standard not the isight)  it had a clean install of OSX 10.5
But after running a update to 10.5.8 with update if Itunesand security etc it was about 6 updates all together.
Now the Imac uses to much CPU for small tasks and uses84-90MB of ram for a Kernal Task.
When I try check permissions in disk utility the CPU goes toabout 80% in something called InstallerB and wont finnsh because there is no CPU power left
and will over heat if I left it for too long.
The Exact symptoms of the 10.5.8 with update my differ alittle but I have had this same problem on  about 5 PPC apple computers and in the end I sometimes
Just down grade to the flawless Tiger 10.4.11.
So my question is > how do I fix this problem ? Which of the Updates dose this to PPC mac’s ?  (is it itunes or securtiy)
Is Leopard 10.5.8 just a peace of JUnk just like windows Vista was and I should alwasy use Tiger for PPC and Snow leopard for Intel.
    Sam

    Hi Sam,
Leo uses 2 to 4 times the resources of Tiger, & while 512MB is the minimum for Leo, that really crimps the OS, it isn't all that great for Tiger, though 10.4 does better with only 512MB, I'd put 2GB in it for decent performance, (if an IntelMac I'd say 4GB for the same OS).
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/3200DDR2GBP/
Also, open Console in Utilities, look for repeating messages, you may have some 10.04 things running that fail in 10.5.
I think you should get Applejack...
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/15667/applejack
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 6 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 6 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
    Trash old Log files.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files! :-)
Disconnect the USB cable from any Uninterruptible Power Supply so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.
Is Leopard 10.5.8 just a peace of JUnk just like windows Vista was and I should alwasy use Tiger for PPC and Snow leopard for Intel.
In my opinion, OSX is headed towards Windows®, & aimed at users that only know how to Twit.
If Tiger does everything you need, like you don't need iDevices & know how to protect yourself on the Internet without the added Security of 10.5 & associated Apps, then by all means stick with 10.4.11.
If you want/need 10.5... max out the RAM for sure.
