Cleaning Dell LCD Monitor - What are current recommendations?

What are the current recommendations for cleaning a Dell LCD Monitor?
I have always used 50% distilled water and 50% isopropyl alcohol and gently cleaned with a microfibre cloth.
We have many different Dell LCD monitors in my workplace.

  • What are Novells recommended settings for policies

    Hello,
Who can tell me please what are Novells recommended settings for policies? Should we make a few big Policy where everything is handled (for example a policy for standalone workstations, one for desktop PCs, one for notebooks etc..) or single policies (for example "Desktop Wallpaper", "Enable Active Desktop", or "Turn off Aero Shake window minimizing mouse gesture" and so on) and put them in a PolicyGroup. What is the best way?

The fewer the policies the better.
Generally Folks do something such as a WS assigned policy as a baseline
and then a user one to over-ride.
Trying to create one policy per setting would likely cause windows great
confusion as well as being very slow.

What is the recommended number of clients per Mac server? Also what are some recommended specs when purchasing an Apple machine that will have Mac OS X server installed? We have around 300 clients that need to be enroled on the Mac server. I want to know what is the recommended amount of clients a Mac server should contain. Also what are some recommended specs to make sure the server will flawlessly?

    Hello cpreasbeck,
Thank you for contacting Apple Support Communities.
I was able to find the following transition guide for Xserve that provides some workload guidance to determine performance when planning a server deployment.
    Transition Guide Xserve
    http://images.apple.com/xserve/pdf/L422277A_Xserve_Guide.pdf
On page 9, Performance there is a chart that provides maximum numbers of connected users for various activities such as file sharing, mail, web, calendar, directory services and Time Machine and the CPU used as a server (Xserve, Mac Pro, Mac Mini). This information is a bit dated as the referenced software is Snow Leopard Server (OS X 10.6), and the hardware is older also, but it should give you a general idea of what you might need to look for.

We will customize a very detailed reply, but
    (a) What are the properties of your source media?
    (b) What did you or the program set as the project preset to match the properties of the source media?
    (c) What specific requirements do you have for this H.264.mov export file?
File size can be a compromise between bitrate, file size, and quality.
    Thanks.

  • Your What are Your Recommended TextPad Embellishments

As a long-time TextPad user I've been quite impressed with the editor's amazing and powerful features and is why I have been feeling lately that the ESTK is coming up a little on the short end as I begin this journey into writing attempting to write ExtendScript /JavaScript for InDesign.
With Theunis's compiled CHM help file as an added tool available from TextPad, I may try scripting away from the ESTK, but will miss ESTK's visual enhancement of the code.
There are so many add-ons available to the TextPad user to use, and as many of you have traveled this road already; what are your recommended clip libraries, macros and syntax definitions that would be worthwhile to the aspiring InDesign script writer?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
    Kelly
PS. Thanks to Theunis (aka Jongware) for making the CHM available to this community!

    You're welcome, Kelly!
Personally, I use TextPad "as is", as it already does a great job on syntax highlighting Javascript. Actually I cannot remember if it did this natively, or if I had to download it somewhere -- have been using it for years like this. The only thing I added was a hotkey to the CHM help file (instructions to do so are in TextPad's Help on running external files).
But I'm as curious as you: does anyone else have suggestions to further enhance TextPad?
On the same: on my Mac I use TextWrangler to code. Are there any useful additions for that as well?

  • I want to use 2 monitors with my mbp, what are thoughts, I do web development and require another screen.  I want to pretty much use my mbp as a desktop at home and attach 2 external monitors, what are your thoughts

I use Adobe tools, photoshop, dreamweaver etc.  I  am constantly playing music and run out of space for viewing what I build on one screen.  What can you recommend I do to solve the issue?  The mac cinema is nice and all but still just one giant display.  2 monitors would be great but can my laptop handle it if I add an external video card via usb 2.0?  Help! My laptop has 384MB DDR3 SDRAM shared video memory, plus AMD Radeon HD 6750M graphics with 512MB GDDR5 video memory.
    What are my options?

i've been looking for a while as well and either this (http://www.amazon.com/Matrox-D2G-DP2D-MIF-DualHead2Go-Digital-ME/dp/B0080K6WIG) seems to be the only thing that will make it work.
i'm about to buy one and will chime back in when it comes and i have it set up...

The new Dell 2408wfp is a beautiful monitor with the exception of an over saturation of the red colors. I calibrated it today with a eye-one display2 and it is much better but the reds are still a little more neon bright then I would like. I hope Dell does a firmware revision that will correct it.
"On sale" as to less than $699.
Firmware upgrade is not user installable. You'll need to get a new monitor.

What would be the recommended settings / format to have the pictures converted into digital images for Final Cut? Also, any advice on the sequence / timeline settings as well would be appreciated.

Look at this first...it's designed for stills...and when you're done you can export it for use in FCP

The first reply was accurate.  HDMI (and DVI) are digital and VGA is analog.
There are many cords on Amazon and Ebay that claim they will work (its a scam, and a brilliant one at that).
you would need an active converter (if you want audio)

  • What are Current Value Tables VIs in LabVIEW 2010?

I was just looking over LabVIEW 2010, and noticed a new set of VIs stored under "Reference Design".  They seem to consist of a series of VIs dealing with Current Value Tables.  What are these?  I tried to search Help, didn't find much under either CVT or Reference Design.  There's a discussion of Reference Design in the NI Tutorials, but it doesn't really seem to apply ...

    Hello Bob,
Reference Designs are essentially application oriented examples made by NI systems engineers. These examples demonstrates how to design and integrate systems rather than NI Shipping Examples that illustrate features of products.

  • Activity monitor - what are all these processes and how do i stop them?

    hi.
i have a laptop that i use completely for live music performance and i want to disable everything on the mac that could be taking up RAM and CPU power.
i firstly notice airport base station agent and spotlight. can i disable these?
i also notice itunes helper... whats that?
i also have lots of others such as - ATSServer, launchd, loginwindow, mdworker, pboard, syncserver, systemUIServer and UserEventAgent... what are these and do i need them running?
    many thanks....

    hi.
thanks for coming back with an answer so quickly.
in activity monitor i can see spotlight is taking up about 25mb.
i have a 6GB music session to run with a huge CPU load so every bit of my 4GB RAM is taken up.
i do use spotlight a lot but could do without if it meant freeing up a little bit of space... it all helps!
i can see no page outs and it says 0 bytes but even though im running nothing on my computer i only have 3.3GB of my 4 available. 260MB is active and 420MB is wired.
im sure ableton live (my live music app) would appreciate even a little bit more RAM...
i know the maximum RAM my mac can have is 4GB but i think thats the limit for the application anyway so buying a new mac and more RAM wouldnt help i dont think....
    any ideas?

  • 4.6C to ERP6.0 Upgrade - what are the recommendations for Unicode and Java

    Hi All,
    Forgive such a basic question.
We are just beginning to look at our ERP6.0 upgrade and am unclear whether we should convert to unicode at the same time, and also what are the uses for the Java stack.
    Unicode?
We are a single language Latin-1 site so don't need Unicode. However will it become mandatory eventually? Are we better, if we have the opportunity now, just to convert. Also I believe the Java stack is only Unicode. Does ASCII ABAP and Java Unicode complicate things?
    Java?
Will we need it? We are proposing a technical upgrade from our 4.6c Javaless environment. Where does Java come in to play in ERP6.0? Doesn't it increase greatly the iSeries HW requirements? (I'm looking at a 2 way 550 at the moment)
Look forward to hearing your views.
    Regards
    Steve

    Hi Stephen,
at the moment, in a latin-1 environment Unicode is for old customers not a requrirement. This might change in 5-10 years ...
Java: No problem at all with ASCII (in latin-1 environments)
=> there is no need for you, but you could go for it. We did several Unicode conversions already and these Latin-1 conversions are pretty easy and simple especially on iSeries, because of the special InPlace Unicode Conversion.
... but this can be done at any time ...

  • KMDF Driver. What are the recommended limits for buffer size when calling WdfCommonBufferCreate

    Hi,
I have a customer who wants to really stress-test his PCIe hardware. His idea is to declare two 8 GB buffers alternately filled by application software and fetched by scatter/gather DMA in the hardware (Transfer to PCIe card). If I calculate this through,
this is a maximum of 2M scatter/gather elements per buffer or 32 MByte, assuming S/G element is 16 bytes. i.e. 64 MByte logically contiguous memory as a common buffer for storing the S/G lists. The test system will have plenty of memory, 32 G upwards.
Still don't think I am likely to get a 64MByte common buffer from the system or even two disjunct 32 Mbyte buffers. If I look at poolmon on my server, the current size for NP is only 86M
So I expect the driver will have to handle multiple calls to EvtProgramDma, each covering just part of the 8G to be transferred.
    Still I have two questions:
    1) Are there any recommendations, house numbers from experience etc. regarding what is a usable maximum size I can reliably get for a common buffer with a call to WdfCommonBufferCreate (percentage of NP pool?, absolute number? ...). The common buffer is
for storing the S/G elements for the HW DMA controller
    2) If I just declare a huge array of SCATTER_GATHER_ELEMENT[4M] or 2x huge arrays SCATTER_GATHER_ELEMENT[2M] in the device context (to be managed later by WdfMemoryCreatePreallocated() etc.) , will windows refuse to load the driver because the driver footprint
    is too large?
We are talking about Windows 7/x64
    Thanks,
    Charles

    Don,
thanks for your reply. The card is always physically present in the test system which means I could load the driver at boot time, but it would have to be after PCIe enumeration of course.
So far I have always managed to avoid writing a boot-start driver, my main objection being for "purist" reasons. I understand the MS documentation to mean that boot-start is really only intended for devices that are required to boot the system
(disk, console, keyboard, maybe network ....). I am aware of the advantage of boot-start though, a much higher probability of getting contiguous memory in larger chunks. This driver however is definitely not relevant for system start. The add-in card is essentially
a high performance source of test data and only runs when a SW application has been started.
The card does have high performance scatter/gather DMA support also 64-bit addressing capability.
I do wish Microsoft would issue some guidelines regarding realistic sizing of common buffers, it would make my discussion easier. Yes, I could write a test driver and measure it out but I don't really have time for that. Microsoft surely have test/application
teams for figuring these things out.
    Charles
