  • Best way to clean imac screen...

    Hi...
wondering the best way to clean the imac screen - first time i have had a lcd screen
    thanks

    Nick,
The user guide recommends that one dampen a lint free cloth with water and use it to clean the screen. There are a few commercial products that work well, including Monster iClean and iKlear. Be sure to avoid any product with alcohol or ammonia. Also, whether you use water or a cleaning product, spray the cloth, not the screen directly.

  • Correct way to clean iMac screen?

I apologize if this is too simple a question but I haven't been able to find a reliable source that tells me what the proper method is to clean the screen on my iMac. Any suggestions or a link to a reference about this would surely be appreciated.
    Thanks all,
    jim

    Jim,
    Here is what Apple recommends.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3226
Important: Do not use isopropyl alcohol on the bare LCD panel. Only use a damp, soft, lint-free cloth or LCD cleaning product like iKlear.
Use a damp, soft, lint-free cloth. It is also safe to use isopropyl alcohol 70% or iKlear on the enclosure parts. Remove any surface dirt gently with your bare hand before proceeding with a cleaner and cloth. After cleaning, dry the plastic with a soft, lint-free cloth.
    Hope this helps.

  • IMac screen cleaning product advice.

    Hi,
I note the Apple Store (device care) offers Techlink products but not specifically for a iMack screen.
What is safe and recommended to keep my iMac screen clean.
    Cheers.

I always follow Apple's advice on how to clean a display, they describe it in How to clean Apple products

  • Cleaning the iMac screen

    I have a new iMac.
It seems that it has some kind of screen cover , I don't succeed to clean the screen from marks with any product.
Is there  a solution please ?
    Thanks.

Spit Shine with the "Provided" Micro Fibre Cloth is the best way.
    In Detail:
I had my iMac for a few months now (purchased 1qtr 2014) and I have wondered about cleaning the screen for some time.  The thing is, I to tried a non-abrasive cleaning product but it did not work.  All that did was clean off the dust but left some insanely annoying smudge marks.  I wondered for sometime and inquired a far and wide about cleaning the iMac but no one really had an answer that actually worked.
Frustrated, I went back to the original box the product and pulled out the manual but also pulled out a black micro fibre cleaning cloth still sealed inside of the box where the keyboard was. I thought, "sure why not".
I continued to perform a really light strokes with the provided cloth and surprisingly all the smudges and streaks started to disappear. I felt as though I was Kratos killing a Titan or something at this point but beauty is the details.
There were some fine peaces of dirt specs stuck on the screen that the cloth would not get off.  I figured I came this far so I wasn't going to give up.
For some odd reason, I thought, "maybe a spit shine D?" .  LOL, no not hocking at the monitor, that would be silly but then again ... Anyways, I did dap a little salvia off my tongue, on to my finger, and then directly on those tough spots where specs were, and wiped it away with the micro fibre cloth with ease.  This was by far the best way I have ever cleaned the d*am* thing since purchase.

  • Cleaning my iMac screen...

My iMac screen gets very dirty very quickly. What can I use to clean it?

I just use the cleaning cloth that was included with my iMac. Make sure that the computer is shut off. I simply dampen it water and really wring it out good. Then I simply wipe the computer screen off.
My keyboard also gets really dirty from use, mainly on the home keys (where your fingers rest when typing) and I clean this differently as water does not work to peel all the grime off. I unplug the keyboard and then I use a solution of a couple drops of dish washing soap to a quart of water with the same cloth as mentioned above and I gently wipe all the grime off. I then use clear water to rinse the soap off. I make sure that I squeeze almost all the soapy solution out of the cloth and when I rinse I do the same thing.

  • Aluminum imac screen cleaner

    Hi
I bought some monster iclean and wanted to know if it's safe to use it to clean my aluminum imac glass screen?
In the instruction manual it says use water only on the screen but one other brand of cleaner, iklear says its for the new imacs(aluminum) but I cant find anything about monster iclean.

iClean is a very good product for cleaning all computer displays. I've used it on my iMac screen, PB screen and touch screen. iKlear is also a very good product. Make sure you use the included cloth with either product and not a paper towel.

  • What is the best way to clean the imac screen?

I have tried the included cloth but that is not working very well - & I don't want to use something that will cause streaks. Any suggestions?

Apple strongly recommends DO NOT USE ANY CHEMICALS.
Use a lightly damp clothe with water only and clean your screen.

  • 24" iMac screen mist behind glass

For a couple of months now my 24" iMac screen keep misting up behind the glass around 30 mins after booting - anyone know a resolution for this? Will Apple replace the screen even though i've had it around 4/5 years now?

It is common to get condensation between the display and front glass panel, if it is humidity and cool in your office or home.
A few things that you might try, are
    1. Reduce the level humidity with a dehumidifier.
    2. Leave the iMac on longer until the condensation dissipates.
    3. Remove the front panel yourself and clean between the display and glass.
Will Apple replace the screen even though i've had it around 4/5 years now?
No, but if you contact your local Apple Store or AASP you can schedule an appointment to have it dried and cleaned.

  • 24" 2008 iMac screen going black

My 24" 2008 iMac screen keeps going black then coming back after a while. What temperature would it need to get to in order to knock out the display? I have iStat.
Also, if the screen fails due to graphics card or other component, is it possible to connect an external display to use it until I can upgrade to a mini?
    Cheers.

As old as your iMac is, have you cleaned out the dust? Dust buildup can lead to over heating issues. Remove any and all things plugged into it including the power cord, Remove the RAM access grille. Vacuum all openings starting with the RAM access area (air intake). Vacuum all ports and plugs, DVD slot and the opening across the top of the rear of the body. Blow compressed air through all your openings and vacuum again to remove any dust you loosend. Reinstall the RAM grille. Plug in the keyboard and mouse if not blue tooth. Insert power cord...
You are now in a perfect position to do a
    SMC RESET
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
    Wait 15 seconds.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
It is the 5 second timing that initiates the reset.

  • I cleaned my screen with method glass and surface cleaner and now the color is off.  What can i do?

I cleaned my screen with methid galss and surface cleaner and now the color is off on my screen...What can I do?

Clean it again, very carefully with a cloth dampened with water only (NOT WET), if it will not come back to normal you can have the screen replaced by Apple, this will not be under warranty.
From now on just use a damp (NOT WET) cloth and a lot of care.
Never spray on the screen, always have the iMac off when cleaning with any kind of conductive fluids (water)

  • Ok - Has anyone cleaned their screen yet?!

The title says most of it I've got a pretty dirty screen here - this is my first glossy screen, and it's bugging me to see smudges and such from where I've accidentially touched it. I know most are waiting for the first round of people to clean their screens before attempting anything. I guess my real question is: any advice for those who have to go first?
I've been waiting to see if ayone has success before trying it, but I really can't wait anymore. It's not insanley dirty - just lost of prints I can't deal with anymore.
MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   The low-end model, cause I'm cool like that.

    Hello,
Regrettably, you are right about Apple's recent
abandonment of durability for beauty. They are more
concerned with selling a product than keeping users
    happy with it.
    Yes...
I wish it wasn't true. I really do. But, that's how it is now.
I'm stuck in a terrible spot myself.
I need a better machine (more power). But, I want something that is going to hold-up and last.
Unfortunately, I can get durability in the older machines, and power in the new ones. So, here I sit waiting for something good to be released.
I already went through two new iMac's and gave up after that abuse. Couldn't use them without them breaking down, and they spent all their time in the shop.
So, I reverted to the old mini while I wait for something that combines power and durability.
I was really excited about the MacBook when it was released. But, it's glossy screen is a major concern to me.
I want a machine that will serve me for about 5 years. And, I want to be able to enjoy using it for that time. If it looks like I'm reading through a windows screen (bug-screen) from scratches, then I know I won't be happy with it.
If they hadn't put the glossy screen on this thing, I'd have probably already purchased it.
But, my conversations with the local Apple dealer were not inspiring. He was not very reassuring when I explained that I wanted a LCD screen that could be cleaned.
It would be really stupid, however, to put a screen
that scratches easily on their most popular computer.
    Agreed.
As you said, only time will tell.
That's all we can do. The reports will come-in eventually.

  • Cleaning iMac cleaning cloth

    Good morning,
Does anyone know how to appropriately clean the cloth that comes with the iMac? It's become fairly dusty and thus ineffective at cleaning the iMac screen.
Is it safe to put in the wash or should I just use soapy water? Any help would be......helpful.
    Thanks!
    Nathan

I use dish washing liquid, just a drop, and scrub the cloth between my hands. Rinse well. Stretch it out and let it dry.
