  • How to clean ipod screen

Hi guys. I recently bought a used iPod on the internet and it works great, but my only concern are germs. It doesn't have any visible grit but I want to be sure because I don't know where it's been. Any suggestions that don't require buying an expensive cleaner? Thanks!

    From the manual
    Important handling information
Cleaning Clean iPod touch immediately if it comes in contact with anything that may cause stains—such as dirt, ink, makeup, or lotions. To clean:
Disconnect all cables and turn iPod touch off (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button, then slide the onscreen slider).
    Use a soft, lint-free cloth.
    Avoid getting moisture in openings.
Don’t use cleaning products or compressed air.
The front of iPod touch is made of glass with a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic (oil repellant) coating. This coating wears over time with normal usage. Cleaning products and abrasive materials will further diminish the coating, and may scratch the glass. Abrasive media may also scratch iPod touch.

Best way to clean ipod touch screen without scratching it?

I have heard screen klean is a great touch screen cleaner. Also, a good rule for touch devices is not to use anything alcohol based!

how to clean the ipod touch screen?

The best way to clean the screen is with a microfiber cleaning cloth, such as sold for cleaning eyeglasses, or a soft lint-free cloth. You can slightly dampen the cloth (and I do mean "slightly) if there is material stock on the screen that gentle polishing won't remove.

  • Cleaning iPod Touch screen?

What is the best way to clean the screen from any grease or fingerprints?
I've been using the cloth that came with the package, but was wondering if there was a better way.
Someone told me to use glass cleaner like windex but make sure not to get it around the home button or docking port.
    What is the best idea?

My advice is to invest in matte protective screen film that prevent fingerprints and smudging. Before I did this I was constantly cleaning & polishing the screen on my iPod Touch. If you just want to clean the screen I recommend using a soft, lint-free cloth and perhaps dampen with a little clean water. Do not use window cleaners or solvents as they will leave residue or etch the glass.

  • Best Way to Clean iPod Video

    Hello All,
As most of you know, or have heard the iPod Video smudges and scratchs VERY easily. I was wondering if anyone knew good way's for cleaning the iPod. I've had this a little more than 24 hours and its been either in an iPod sock or its box the whole time. And it still has a lot of smudges, and scratch's already.
    Thanks,
    Shane Eliason

    A quote from the manual:
Make sure your iPod is unplugged. Use a damp, soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid getting moisture in openings. Don’t use aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, or abrasives.

What is the best way to clean an iPod Touch (2nd Generation)?

The best way is to use a soft, damp, lint-free cloth, being careful to avoid getting moisture in any of the opening. Apple advises against using window cleaners, household cleaners, compressed air, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to clean the iPod. Both products you mention contain alcohol and other substances you do not want on your iPod (the Freshmates, for instance, also contain castor oil) as probably do all "adult" or baby wipes and so should not be used.
I've alway used a microfiber cloth, such as used for cleaning eyeglasses, on my iPods and iPads.
    Regards.

  • Cleaning iPod Touch touchscreen - adhesive on it

    Hi,
I have a 2nd Gen iPod touch and work in a print shop. A tiny bit of spray adhesive got onto the screen. I need to remove it.
I know the ammonia is bad, but could I use Goo Gone or a natural (citrus) adhesive remover?
    Any suggestions?
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

I have used something called De-Solv-It on plastic displays on keyboards (Yamaha, Roland synths) as well as the plastic and metal surfaces on those keyboards. No damage whatsoever. This is citrus based - no other harsh chemicals at all. I've use it on home window glass as well with success - no damage at all to window.
DO NOT use nail polish remover. Bad advise there and I'm not sure if that poster is kidding or what. I remember using nail polish remover on the clear plasic in a car I used to own (instrument panel cover), and it immediately blurred the clear plastic. On the iPod screen - nah - still wouldn't bother with it. Maybe there is a safe remover these days, but I'd still go with a citrus cleaner.
I can't 100% advise to use a citrus based cleaner on iPod screen, but can tell you I've used it on clear plastic before with no damage.

  • Cleaning iPod loops?

I bought a few extra iPod loops awhile ago, and they are all dirty. Any tips on cleaning them?

I have one white and not only is stained but also has taken off, it looks ugly. I'd rather have it any other stronger material. Do you know if there are some of this from other brand, like in rubber or somethig?

  • Cleaning ipod mini

Ok so i didnt read the part in the manual about not getting any moisure into the opening of the case to my ipod mini. What happened was I brought my ipod mini in the tractor trailer i drive for work and it got all greased up so the middle button was sticking so i just put a little water on my finger and wiped it all over the button and around it and now the go back/menu button doesnt work anymore:( So is it ruined?

Both #1 and #2 are sort of tied together.  The Mini is currently associated with your iTunes library.  If this young girl connects the iPod to her own PC or Mac running iTunes, the iPod will see her iTunes library as a new one.  In order for the iPod Mini to start syncing with her own iTunes library, the iPod must be wiped all all content.  So it probably wouldn't work for you to leave your music on the device.
The only way that would work is it the iPod was set up for manual management.  See here for more details.
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
Perhaps an easier solution would be to purchase an iTunes Giftcard and include that with the iPod.
As for registration, she'll have to register it under her own Apple ID before it is removed from your list of registered products.
Hopefully this helps clarify your 2 questions, at least a little.   Kudos for giving your iPod away like that!

  • How to clean the back part of an iPod

Any tips on how to clean the metalic back part of an iPod?

    The manual says:
    Important handling information

Cleaning products and abrasive materials will further diminish the coating, and may scratch the glass. Abrasive media may also scratch iPod touch.
Using connectors, ports, and buttons Never force a connector into a port or apply excessive pressure to a button, because this may cause damage that is not covered under the warranty. If the connector and port don’t join with reasonable ease, they probably don’t match. Check for obstructions and make sure that the connector matches the port and that you have positioned the connector correctly in relation to the port.

I would purchases a case for the iPod. It protects the back and make the iPod easily to hold/use.
