Cleaning PSA in 3.5

Hi experts,
I try to find how to refresh or clean the PSA as a step of a chain in 3.5, but i can't find how.
Can someone please give me a clue about it?
Thanks,
Artur.

Hi,
It is same process type as in 7.0. Select process type "Delete Request from PSA" in process chain and in variant maintainance screen select the PSA table or Infopackage for which you want to delete the PSA.

  • Delete PSA

    Hi guru´s
I have a question about delete of psa tables.
There are a function to delete all the PSA tables with date parameters??
For example I want to delete al PSA data greater than 8 days. I want to do this for all the psa tables.
I know that there are an option in the process chain to do this task, but it takes long time.
The final question is: Are there a function or module function or a program that perform my necesity?
    thanks for your help.
    Jose

    Hello.
I guess we don't have an automatic process to clean PSA tables using a date as parameter.
I hint to free physically data from PSA tables is running the report RSAR_PSA_CLEANUP_DIRECTORY/_MS.
You can get more information in SAP Note 1224450.
1224450-  Logical Deletion of the Requests in PSA Table
For Databases like ORACLE, DB2 and MSSQL which support Range
Partitioning the PSA tables are created with that Partitioning feature.
In case of Partitioned PSA tables the requests are deleted logically.
Logical Deletion of a request means that when a request is deleted from
the directory (ie. table RSTSODSREQUEST) and a Deletion Flag is set in
the Partition Administration table of the PSA ie. the table RSTSODSPART.
This means that the for that request the Del Flag in the table
RSTSODSPART is set to "X". The significance of the action is that the
Request is no longer accessible but the request is still physically
    present in the PSA table.
The physical deletion of the data in the request itself is executed if
all the requests assigned to a partition have been logically deleted.
This is done by the execution of a truncate or drop of the partition.
The physical existence of the data of a logically deleted request in the
PSA table is not an ERROR. The consistency of the content of the PSA
table could be checked by the PSA support tools. For details refer to
    the consulting note 1150724.
I hope I can be helpful.
    Thanks,
    Walter Oliveira.

  • Automating Multiple PSA cleanup - Is there a routine available?

    Hi SAP gurus....
I am looking to delete multiple PSA's automatically by means of an ABAP routine. Is there one that already exists? We already have process chains to clean PSA up one by one. Any suggestions?

    Hi MD,
As stated by Pizzaman the process chain is still the easiest and the best way to delete the PSAs.
    The other options are:
Goto RSA1 -> PSA -> select the infosource and right click and select "delete PSA data". In the subsequent screen choose the option you want and execute.
If you want to use a program and then delete then this fn mdoule would be useful:
    RSATREE_PSA_DELETE_BATCH
    Also check the program RSAR_PSA_CLEANUP_DIRECTORY
Check this post: PSA Delete Automation

  • How to clean the PSA in NW2004s?

    Hello
Does anybody know how to clean the PSA in NW2004s? The PSA screen maintenance is not available anymore
    Thanks
    Ioan
PS: I read how to clean the active log of an ODS, but did not find anything on the PSA itself

    Hello Andreas
I already found where the PSA was --> my question is more on how to <i>clean it</i>.
In the old 3.x, in the PSA management, it was possible to schedule deletion of requests from the PSA (every day for example, for all requests older than 1 week). I haven't found anything similar in NW2004s (yet). I was wondering if this was somewhere.
    Does my question make sense?
    Thanks!

I need to clean up the Change Logs and PSA tables from  the Process chains. Currently the change logs and PSA are deleting 90 days and 60 days from the  PCu2019s. I need to change this to 7 days.
I took one PC first. It has DELETE PSA REQUEST. when i double click ..under 'Selection pattern for pattern-based deletion' - there are so many data sources listed (older than - 60days). Now i need to change this to 7 days . how do i do it?
    Please guide me stepwise.

  • RSAR_PSA_CLEANUP_DIRECTORY - PSA cleaning

    Hi,
Does anyone have an experience with the report stated above (or FM RSAR_ODS_API_DEL) for cleaning inconsistencies in PSA?
When I execute the report in BW3.5 SP11 (repair mode), it seems that nothing happens and the status after execution is the same as before.
    Regards.
    LauQ

    Roberto,
I did it already and the log displays the same info with or without the REPAIR flag: this means that the latter cannot clear the inconsistencies in contrast with the advertised solution (cf. notes 739407/733371).
The very issue is whether this REPAIR option works at all!

  • Extract PSA Data to a Flat File

    Hello,
I would like to download PSA data into a flat file, so I can load it into SQL Server and run SQL statements on it for analysis purposes.  I have tried creating a PSA export datasource; however, I can find way to cleanly get the data into a flat structure for analysis and/or download.
Can anyone suggest options for doing this?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Sincerely,
    Sonya

    Hi Sonya,
In teh PSA screen try pressing Shift and F8. If this does not bring up the file types then you can try the following: Settings > Chnage Display Variants > View tab > Microsoft Excel > Click SAP_OM.xls and then the green check amrk. The data will be displayed in excel format which you can save to your PC.
    Hope this helps...

  • Not able to see the PSA

    Dear Experts,
I have enhanced the extract structure of  2lis_13_vdkon in R/3 with 5 fields which are exist in transfer structure.
I have replicated the data source in BI but unfortunately i have not deleted the data in the PSA.
After replication when i try to activate the data source the system is giving Dump and im not able to see the PSA also.
    Please help me out.
When i manage on the data source to c PSA, its giving error like this
Invalid DataStore object name 2LIS_13_VDKON_BB: Reason: No valid entry in table RSTS
The Dump when activating the data source is :
    Runtime Errors         SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPREC
    Exception              CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB
    Date and Time          03.06.2009 09:46:55
    How to correct the error
Use an ABAP/4 Open SQL array insert only if you are sure that none of
the records passed already exists in the database.
If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
         keywords:
         "SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPREC" "CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB"
         "CL_RSAR_PSA===================CP" or "CL_RSAR_PSA===================CM006"
         "_UPDATE_DIRECTORY_TABLES"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself and want to send an error
notification to SAP, include the following information:
         1. The description of the current problem (short dump)
To save the description, choose "System->List->Save->Local File
         (Unconverted)".
         2. Corresponding system log
Display the system log by calling transaction SM21.
Restrict the time interval to 10 minutes before and five minutes
after the short dump. Then choose "System->List->Save->Local File
         (Unconverted)".
         3. If the problem occurs in a problem of your own or a modified SAP

    Hi Venu,
The issue I think is the PSA was not deleted cleanly. If you try and activate the PSA you will get the dump again.
..Probably if you go through the ABAP dump you will notice it is pointing to the following code;-
75 * Put the fields of PSA to database without check, otherwise error by
       76 * activation of table
       77
       78   IF p_psa_exists EQ rs_c_false OR
       79      i_new_version     EQ rs_c_true.
    >>>>>     INSERT rstsodsfield FROM TABLE l_t_odsfield.
       81   ELSE.
       82     DELETE FROM rstsodsfield
       83       WHERE odsname = l_s_odsfield-odsname
       84       AND  version = l_s_odsfield-version.
85     MODIFY rstsodsfield FROM TABLE l_t_odsfield.
Put a breakpoint in the code in line 78. and activate the DS..the program should stop in 78...change the value of variable rc_c_false so that line 82 gets executed. This will clean up the PSA entries in table rstsodsfield. Now activate the DS and delete the PSA entries in the PSA table.
We faced the same issue and resolved it this way.

  • How do I get a clean start for catalog to start all over again?

Running PSE5 on Win XP w/SP3
I have not been able to get any information about how to recover a catalog from files that have been copied as a backup, so it looks like I'm forced to start all over again.  There are about 17000 images in the C: drive.  The images all seem to be OK.  A few days ago there was a properly operating catalog file (and all the others) there, too.
Since then, I have tried to learn how to make the former catalog file operative, but no luck.  Since then, I have read that just uninstalling and reinstalling PSE5 will do nothing to give me a clean start - that is, all the old (now problematical) catalog file trouble will still be there.
To start all over again seems like such a waste of time, since I have copies of all the catalog files as they were properly operating in March, but it seems that something important is missing and none of this stuff is useful in any way.  I'm not the PSE5 user, so I didn't know about the external catalog backup that can be done from within PSE5 - so the possibility to use that technique does not exist.  All I have is a straight copy of everything in the Documents and Settings.. ...Application Data\Adobe folder.  I've tried replacing the whole Adobe folder with the backup files, starting PSE5 and looking at the catalog, but that didn't work either. I just get the same old empty catalog.
So, the 'start all over' option seems like the only way out.  Anyone who has lost the catalog knows how much work is in the catalog, so any help with either making the old catalog file work through reconstruction somehow, or starting all over again, will be very helpful.  Someday, I'd like to learn how this happened.  Until then I'll be backing up the catalog file from within PSE5 to an external location...  Everytime there's a new entry in the catalog information.  That method seems simple enough that even I could do it.
    Thanks,
    Al
    (K3PXR)

I tried to open the resident 'My Catalog.psa' file.  PSE5 dutifully did that and the catalog information, such as tags and other information that would normally be present when looking at the Organizer is blank, as if nothing has ever been entered in the catalog.
The 'My Catalog.psa' file is about 600K (according to windows explorer) and resides in the 'Catalogs' folder.  Also there are:
    My Catalog-2.psa  about 3252K
    My Catalog-2.psa about 5380K
In the folder: 'Catalog Folders' were the folders:
    My Catalog
    My Catalog-1
In the folder My Catalog are the files:
      backupCt.dat  1K
      collstatus.dat  1K
      tagstatus.dat  1K
      thumb.5.cache  10K
In the folder My Catalog-1 is the file:
      tn.4.cache  32394 K
Above I say 'In the folder, Catalog Folders, were the folders My Catalog and My Catalog-1' because last night when shutting down, I didn't know what was in those folders.  I was too tired to check.
I did copy everything that was in the Adobe folder and all associated sub folders, including the folders above, to an SD flash card before I started to do anything else.  Becasue of this, I should be able to get back to the way it was before I started to do anything, then I opened the catalog file My Catalog-1.psa.  It said that it was made from an earlier version, asked to convert it and contained the 2002 to 2004 catalog information.  To the best of my knowledge, those photos were never entered in PSE5, and probably were from an earlier version of PS Album.
So, where is the information that was once in the PSE5 catalog?  Which files should contain that information?  Why can't the files simply be copied from the backup copies back on to the C:\ drive in the proper folders and then upon starting PSE5 see at least the catalog that was present when the copies of the files in the folders above were made?  What dumb mistakes could have been made to overwrite the information in the catalog and make the catalog appear empty?  If I don't learn this, I'll not be able to prevent it from happening again.
I'm not on the machine with the trouble at the moment, and since it is not my machine, I sometimes have trouble getting to it during normal waking hours.  I don't know the exact clicks and keystrokes that got the catalog from its normal function to appearing and functioning as if it is empty..
What exactly are the symptoms of "PSE5 doesn't like..."?  The catalog appears and functions as if it is empty - as if nothing ever has been or ever was entered into it.  PSE5 Organizer is operating normally as far as I can tell.  I cannot seem to locate the former catalog information and it has not loaded the former catalog file information.  A new test catalog was made and it opens and shows the thumbnails of its four images.  I hope that the test catalog I made didn't overwrite anything that would prevent going back to the original catalog information.  The copies of the files can be restored as they were a few months ago, though, because there is a copy of them on an SD card.
    Thanks,
    Al

  • Clean downconversion from DVC-Pro HD to NTSC for Broadcast

We just shot some PSAs for the local DirecTV channel with the HVX200. We edited the footage in Final Cut and everything looked good. Then we downconverted the footage in Final Cut to NTSC and outputted it to DVCam. When we played it back on a TV monitor, it looked blurry and faded.
How do we maintain that clean HD look when we downconvert our footage for broadcast?
Most of the other programs shot on HD and then subsequently downconverted all have that clean professional look. Am I missing something?
    Thanks.
BTW, we shot 720P24PN straight into the P2 cards.

Most of the other programs shot on HD and then subsequently downconverted all have that clean professional look. Am I missing something?
I would hazard a guess that most of these "other programs" are not using a bundled piece of software to up/down/cross-convert their HD video.
    Look into hardware conversion.

  • How many days we can store the data  in psa & ods ?

    hi guru's
how many days we can store the data  in psa & ods ?
    Thanks & Regards.
    Prabhakarreddy

    Hi Prabhakarreddy,
As many days as you like:
In the PSA you can keep data as long as you like but you will need more and more disk-space. So its advisable to clean up from time to time.
    Example:
PSA's from full loads Clean up in a weeks time,
PSA's from Deltas: Clean up after you are sure data is correct. (e.g. a month or 90 days)
Remember that you cannot do a reconstruction from dataloads of which you have deleted the PSA. If some thing is wrong you will have to do an Init again!
In ODS's you must keep data in order to keep your delta loads to cubes in order. Removing data will force you to do a new initial load.
Sometime companies delete old data form ODS's that is older than a certain period (e.g. more than 3 years old) by running a selective deletion. You will have to do an init again. But loads and activation may run faster and of course you gain on disk space.

  • PSE 7 will not recognize my catalog .psa files?

I reinstalled my PSE 7 app but it did not come up with my massive catalog of images and If I use File/Catalog/Custom Location/ and navigate to my D/My_Pictures/catalogs/my_pictures.psa file the application seems not to recognize that type of file. I have over 30,000 images in it there is no way to do this over any help would be appreciated.

John, first again thanks a million for your time BUT here is the rub...
First I am one of those customers that cried when Adobe bought Macromedia, here is another example - I now know exactly what happened. When I upgraded to PSE7 and asked Adobe to convert my catalog which I had placed where the hell I wanted it on my 'D' drive. The Adobe basically said listen 'me/the customer' don't really know what the hell your doing and you really should keep it here (C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Potoshop Elements\...), well you get the idea.
So Adobe moves my 'catalog' to ANOTHER FREAKING DRIVE' without so much as a dialog box to confirm this arrogance. So my backup utilities are merrily backing up all my data which is kept on the D drive without knowing that Adobe has MOVED my catalog.
Now that I have scrubbed my C drive to install a clean Win 7 - which I always do which is why all my data is on my D drive I have lost basically two years of catalog updates. Not Adobe fault of course since there disclaimer basically says they can kill my mother if there is no obvious remnant of the body.
Do I cry again for the demise of Macromedia who was kicking Adobe's butt until greed removed competition from that market.
Again, thanks very much for your contribution or I would not have been able to understand how I got screwed.

  • Unable to delete a set of records from PSA

    Hello All,
I am trying to delete a PSA request (INIT With data transfer) which had about crores of records. But in my PSA, I can still see about 16000 records from the earlier deleted request.
Please advice as my next INIT is not brininging in any records. the issue is very critical...
    Regards
    Sneha

    Hi,
Check out for any other History Init Request available in the PSA and delete it. Or use the program - RSAR_PSA_CLEANUP_DIRECTORY to clean the PSA Completely. Next, check out in the InfoPackage menu, Scheduler - > Initialization for source system, whether there is any successful Initialization request is available or not. If available delete the request by selecting delete from all the systems.
Now, you can again use the Init Infopackage to initialize the delta.
