Cleaning the 30 pin connector

I took my phone to the Apple store to have the 30 pin connector looked at. They said there was corrosion on the connector and that was affecting the charging. I'm considering using contact cleaner from Radio Shack. I'm looking for ideas on how to apply it and clean the contacts in such a small space.

I'd get a good stiff ESD brush & use that first. Best to keep all liquids away from your phone.

  • Trouble with the dock connector??

I have no clue why my Ipod is doing this or if its the cord. Ill plug my Ipod into the computer, and nothing happens. If I lift the cord up right where it plugs into my ipod it'll start charging. So unless i use the case to wrap the cord up over the screen and hook the cord to the belt clip to keep a constant pull on it, it won't connect or charge. Though i have used another cord and i still had to do this to charge it.
Can anyone tell me why it's doing this? and how I would fix it?

Have you tried cleaning the dock connector slot on the iPod? You may have a problem with the dock connector and it needs replacement. If you have an Apple store nearby you might want to make an appointment at their Genius Bar.

  • HT201270 Apple please fix this the dock connector in my car effects the airplay on my phone no matter what I try to fix it it always goes to play music on the dock connector in my car even when I do not ask it to! The iPhone selection is no choice.

If anyone could help or try to fix this, please help it is such a hassle!

    Apple is not here.

  • How to clean the connectors on internal hard drive for oil?

    Hi
I've a 2008 Mac Pro 3.0GHz with 4 internal hard drives...while putting in the newest internal 1 TB hard drive, the guy who did this pointed to the brass/copper connector bit on the hard drive, the part that slots into the motherboard connector in a Mac Pro, and he was touching, briefly, the connector with his finger...should I pull that hard drive back out and try to clean off the connector because of oil? Also the connector part (seat) inside the Mac where the HD slots into? How and with what?
    Thanks
    K

Cleaning those things would require tools so delicate probably only a computer could manage it right. Don't worry about it, or take care of it right away by getting a new drive. I've pulled hard drives out of their socket only to have one of the pins permanently bend out of shape, and become unreadable. I've also had one that was repaired by a person with a soldering iron. I dare not remove it from its case after that event!

  • How can i use my iPad 2 as a display via the 30 pin connector ?

i want to use my ipad as a display from a range of devises like my video camer, computer and dvd player. The ipad outputs its display, so is there a way of using the 30 pin connector to input video?

    Hi there,
At this time you cannot use your iPad as a display like you describe.
However, you can buy the extra Camera Connection Kit, to import video and pictures from some camera's and SD Cards.
I urge you to submit feedback to Apple:

  • Protecting the 30-pin connector

My mini came with the cord used to connect it to my computer, and the cord has a little plastic cap on each end for protection.
Since then I've bought a car charger and an AC charger. Neither has a protective cap covering the dock connector or 30-pin thing or whatever you call it.
Does anyplace make/sell such a thing? I've tried searching on various iPod web sites, and looked for a similar question on this site, but thus far, no results.
Or should I just toss the cords in the glove compartment, suitcase, etc. and not worry about it?

I wouldn't worry about it. The metal itself is already a case for the actual connectors inside. Unless you intentionally trying to damage your cable I don't see what could go wrong.

  • Is there a way to adjust the 30-pin connector output volume?

The 3.5mm headphone jack on my 1st gen touch crapped out on me. Rather than pay $150 for the out-of-warranty repairs, I spent $10 on a cable that plugs into the 30-pin connector on the bottom of the unit, and comes out as a 3.5mm jack on the other side.
The only problem now is that it seems that the iPod outputs the volume through the 30-pin connector at full, and I can't adjust it. Normally I'd play the volume on the iPod at about half and adjust the radio or whatever else to the level that was appropriate, for the best sound quality. But now because the iPod outputs the volume at maximum, the bass is distorted and tinny sounding.
Does anyone know a way that I could turn the sound that outputs through the 30-pin connector down?
    Thanks!

using the 30 pin connector means it bypass the volume switch so you can't adjust the volume, see adjust the EQ setting helps. Otherwise you have to add the switch (a pre-amp etc) in between the iPod and your device

  • Where can I find the pin-outs for 8-pin remote Hirose connector?

Where can I find the pin-outs for 8-pin remote Hirose connector?

Pin outs and wiring info is all in the Maintenance Manuals (same for all system cameras, F series, XDCAM etc.), - ask your local Sony Office if you want the info. The 8pin remote is for connection to the Sony RM-B150/170/750 remote control panels. For system cameras the same protocol is used between RCP panels, MSU, CCUs and camera heads. It is a proprietry system so extremely difficult to hack! The RM-B170 is the ideal panel to work with the PMW-F5/55. It will give basic painting control of R/B white & black painting, Master Pedestal, and Iris with the correct lens (Cabrio etc). It can also control remote Rec stop start.Regards, Clive. Sony ANZ.

  • Can someone explain the functionality of the 50-pin connector inside the SCXI-1600 board

    Hello,
please explain the functionality of the 50-pin connector inside the SCXI-1600 board.
I would like to have the pinouts (explanation) of this particular connector
    kind regards
    the lab mouse

    Hi,
Using the SCXI-1600 for anything other than controlling a SCXI chassis is NOT supported by NI!
The SCXI-1600 is based on a 16-bit MIO board. There is some additional functionality that is not used while controlling the SCXI chassis. The SCXI-1600 has 8 analog input channels, 8 DIO channels, and 2 counters; there is no analog output support on this board. There is a 50-pin connector inside the SCXI-1600 that can be used to access all of these channels.
Through Daqmx and Internal I/O filtering you can access these channels trough software. There is no pin-layout available because we do not support this.
    Regards.

  • Can we connect the ER-8 to a SC-2040 using one of the 50-pin connections on the ER-8 with the J11 connector on the SC-2040?

We have an ER-8 with two 50-pin connections. One is for DIO-24 devices, one is for DIO-32 devices and we do not know which to use to connect to the SC-2040, or if we even can. Additionally, our DAQ is a PCI-MIO16-E-1 and we are currently using 14 channels for data acquistion. Is there room to run 4 channels of our ER-8? If not, can we run the 4 channels off of one input effectively making them one switch?

To connect the SC-2040 and the ER-8 to the PCI-MIO-16E-1 you will need to use a SC-2050.
You will connect the PCI-MIO-16E-1 to the SC-2050 J1 connector with an SH-6850 cable. Then use the J2 connector on the SC-2050 to connect to the SC-2040 and the digital connector to connect to the ER-8.

  • Missing pin from the VGA connector of a 17" CRT monitor that came with G4?

Hi, everyone. Regarding the 17" CRT monitor that came with the G4 "Sawtooth", should the VGA connector that plugs into the video card be missing a pin? On the connector of my monitor, there are 5 pins on the top row, 4 pins (instead of 5) on the middle row, and 5 pins on the bottom row. There appears to be a pin missing from the middle row.
