Cleaning the iMac screen (backside)

In the right light, I can see dust and haze on the backside of my screen. Does the bezel just pop off somehow or do I need to bring it in and have the insides taken out to clean the glass?

Thanks to whoever mentioned the suction cup idea.
I don't think that will be too difficult to figure out, if you try hard enough. It's not as if this thread is five pages long.

  • Cleaning the iMac screen

    I have a new iMac.
It seems that it has some kind of screen cover , I don't succeed to clean the screen from marks with any product.
Is there  a solution please ?
    Thanks.

Spit Shine with the "Provided" Micro Fibre Cloth is the best way.
    In Detail:
I had my iMac for a few months now (purchased 1qtr 2014) and I have wondered about cleaning the screen for some time.  The thing is, I to tried a non-abrasive cleaning product but it did not work.  All that did was clean off the dust but left some insanely annoying smudge marks.  I wondered for sometime and inquired a far and wide about cleaning the iMac but no one really had an answer that actually worked.
Frustrated, I went back to the original box the product and pulled out the manual but also pulled out a black micro fibre cleaning cloth still sealed inside of the box where the keyboard was. I thought, "sure why not".
I continued to perform a really light strokes with the provided cloth and surprisingly all the smudges and streaks started to disappear. I felt as though I was Kratos killing a Titan or something at this point but beauty is the details.
There were some fine peaces of dirt specs stuck on the screen that the cloth would not get off.  I figured I came this far so I wasn't going to give up.
For some odd reason, I thought, "maybe a spit shine D?" .  LOL, no not hocking at the monitor, that would be silly but then again ... Anyways, I did dap a little salvia off my tongue, on to my finger, and then directly on those tough spots where specs were, and wiped it away with the micro fibre cloth with ease.  This was by far the best way I have ever cleaned the d*am* thing since purchase.

  • What is the best way to clean the imac screen?

I have tried the included cloth but that is not working very well - & I don't want to use something that will cause streaks. Any suggestions?

Apple strongly recommends DO NOT USE ANY CHEMICALS.
Use a lightly damp clothe with water only and clean your screen.

My ipad recognizes my home network but will not connect to the internet. When I click on AirPort/preferences at the top of the imac screen it says..."AirPort has a self-assigned ip address and may not connect to the internet". If this is the root of the problem, how can I change ip address?
Ipad will connect no problem to other networks.

First thing you need I think is to get your iMac connected to the Internet.
Shut down your iMac and you iPad. Then power off your router. Wait 30 seconds and power up the router.
After the router indicates that it is connected to the Internet then start up your iMac and see if it connects. If the iMac connects to the Internet then your iPad should too.
If this power up sequence doesn't work you'll have to dig into the router setup to make sure it is working properly.

  • I have a Thunderbolt iMac 27" with a Thunderbolt Display attached.  I would like to use the iMac and Thunderbolt display in Target Display Mode for my new Thunderbolt MacBook Pro.  So far, it seems I can only use the iMac screen itself.  How do I do this?

When I press the Command + F2, the iMac screen becomes a secondary for the MacBook Pro, and the Thunderbolt Display becomes the primary screen for the iMac.  I was hoping that both screens would become secondaries for the MacBook Pro.  Does anyone know how I should proceed?  I have tried to connect the Thunderbolt display directly to the MacBook Pro, and the iMac to the Thunderbolt Display via the separate Thunderbolt cable, but there was no difference.  And since the MacBook Pro only has the one Thunderbolt port, I'm not sure how to proceed.

Yes, eww, the language definitely states two thunderbolt displays, but I can understand the confusion and was siding with how they could make the mistake to think it would work like they want it to. My appologies for not being clear on that point, but I think you make it clear that the language in the ad says nothing about an imac.
Having said that all the language about TB would suggest that this would be possible. http://www.apple.com/thunderbolt/
    High performance on display.
Thunderbolt I/O technology provides native support for the Apple Thunderbolt Display and Mini DisplayPort displays. It also supports DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, and VGA displays through the use of existing adapters. So you can connect your Apple LED Cinema Display or other display, along with multiple high-speed devices, all from a single port.

I am unaware of any PCs that support connection via Target Display Mode. I have never tried it myself, so I don't know if it would work. All you can do is try provided you have an iMac that supports TDM and the proper cable adaptors.

Any suggestions on how to clean the Trubrite screen of my laptop? There were a lot of ideas given in the web but none of them were convincing enough?

  • Darkening the iMac screen

I have my new intel iMac connected to my TV through HDMI.
While I'm watching stuff on my TV screen, how can I turn off the iMac screen?
    Phil

VLC media player supports a setting where it blackens the imac screen. it doesn't turn it off, but it just puts a black screen on it.
unfortunatly, there is no way to turn off a single monitor

  • Cleaning the iPad Screen

*Microfiber cloth* works great, it requires only a light touch and cleans off all the fingerprints quickly and easily.
I tried eye glass cleaning cloth, liquid cleaner and tissues. The microfiber is 100 times better.

Absolute best way to clean the iPad screen is dry, with the 3M Scotch Brite High Performance Cleaning Cloth. The cloth costs $3-4, but it is a woven microfiber that pulls fingerprints and dust off like nothing else. I've tried a number of different cloths, including those that came with my HD TV, etc. The 3M flat makes 'em feel like using a paper towel (NOT recommended...). And when it gets dirty? Toss it in the washing machine.
I actually went and bought a couple spares - one for the house, one for my briefcase, and one for the office - just so I'd always have the right cloth handy. The iPad is a great device; I'd prefer it not be a great fingerprint display as well.

No. Target Display mode only works with other Macs. In the past there were an adapter to connect a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 to a 27-inch iMac, but it no longer works with Thunderbolt iMacs like your computer.

  • IMac connected to TV, can I turn the iMac screen off?

    Hi,
I connected my Intel (white 20") iMac to my TV and I'm using the TV screen as the main screen with the menu bar and all that. But the iMac screen is always on, until you launch Front Row or Hulu..etc. then the iMac screen turns off. Is there a way to make the iMac screen to stay off permanently?
    Thanks
    Gene

On the MacBook, you can wake it while the lid is closed, and the built-in display will not be used. You can then open the lid, and the built-in display should still stay off. At least, that's how it worked with my older PowerBook. So the MacBook design is capable of doing it without any additional software; Remote Buddy just takes a short cut, which is why it is kind of cool, like it does to change the "Main display" from one to the other, or "Toggle mirroring," without opening System Preferences Displays pane Arrangement tab.
I was exactly where you specified in the Remote Buddy menu. The brightness control can adjust the brightness exactly like the built-in control, but even the lowest setting is not an OFF setting.

  • Cleaning my iMac screen...

My iMac screen gets very dirty very quickly. What can I use to clean it?

I just use the cleaning cloth that was included with my iMac. Make sure that the computer is shut off. I simply dampen it water and really wring it out good. Then I simply wipe the computer screen off.
My keyboard also gets really dirty from use, mainly on the home keys (where your fingers rest when typing) and I clean this differently as water does not work to peel all the grime off. I unplug the keyboard and then I use a solution of a couple drops of dish washing soap to a quart of water with the same cloth as mentioned above and I gently wipe all the grime off. I then use clear water to rinse the soap off. I make sure that I squeeze almost all the soapy solution out of the cloth and when I rinse I do the same thing.
