  • How to clean the Trubrite screen of my laptop?

Any suggestions on how to clean the Trubrite screen of my laptop? There were a lot of ideas given in the web but none of them were convincing enough?

For my computer LCD screen I bought screen cleaning fluid and I use it with a lint-free cloth.
    Its a perfect combination ;)

  • Recently got a MacBook Pro.  When I use it for work purposes, I plug in a large screen and key board.  When in this mode I would like to shut off the laptop screen or even close the lid. Is that possible?

RECENTLY GOT A mACKbOOK PRO. WHEN USING IT FOR WORK PURPOSES I PLUG IN A LARGE SCREEN AND KEYBOARD, THAT WORKS FINE.  HOWEVER WOULD LIKE TO CLOSE LID ON THE LAPTOP, OR AT LEAST SHUT DOWN THE LAPTOP SCREEN WHILE USING THE LARGE SCREEN. IS THAT POSSIBLE?

    Hi Jim,
Craig is right on with his post. Hope he won't mind if I add the following link, as recently it has been noted by some posts here that there are some "quirks" with Clamshell Mode:

  • Can i turn the Laptop screen off while connecting the TV?

    Dear All,
I am connecting my Mac to TV 32'' via mini display port converted to HDMI.
I am using it on MAC OS X 10.6.6, and on Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 also.
when i am connecting my TV, the 2 screens are on, Laptop screen and TV screen.
Can i turn the Laptop screen off while connecting the TV?
how to do this on both operating systems?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Boudy,

The quick answer is, hook up the tv to the computer, close the lid, then wake the computer up by clicking the mouse while the lid is closed. Not sure if it'll work while running windows, but I'd bet it does if you have the mac drivers installed on the win os.

  • Cleaning the iPad Screen

*Microfiber cloth* works great, it requires only a light touch and cleans off all the fingerprints quickly and easily.
I tried eye glass cleaning cloth, liquid cleaner and tissues. The microfiber is 100 times better.

Absolute best way to clean the iPad screen is dry, with the 3M Scotch Brite High Performance Cleaning Cloth. The cloth costs $3-4, but it is a woven microfiber that pulls fingerprints and dust off like nothing else. I've tried a number of different cloths, including those that came with my HD TV, etc. The 3M flat makes 'em feel like using a paper towel (NOT recommended...). And when it gets dirty? Toss it in the washing machine.
I actually went and bought a couple spares - one for the house, one for my briefcase, and one for the office - just so I'd always have the right cloth handy. The iPad is a great device; I'd prefer it not be a great fingerprint display as well.

  • Cleaning a laptop screen

There are some spots on my laptop screen like there is dirt or something stuck there. What can I use to clean the screen with? I know I can't use plan old multipurpuse cleaner on a flat screen and I know you shouldn't put a lot of pressureon it either. So what product or service would be best? Thanks!

Just use a LCD screen cleaner, but NEVER EVER use something like Windex...EVER!

  • Cleaning the laptop... ready to divorce my spouse!!!

Yes, pretty severe but I just got a new (less than a week old) black MacBook. My husband was trying to 'teach me a lesson" about leaving fast food cups in the garbage (long story -- he says if I don't properly bag them they leak all over the garbage can) decided leave a wet cup with liquid it in on top of my new MacBook. He put the wet cups directly on top of the Apple logo. The paper cup leaked and water got all around the laptop cover and the Apple. Besides being really ****** - I need to clean the sticky residue off the top and I'm worried about the screen components.
    2 important questions --
    (1) Is the Apple logo on the lid sealed (thus preventing liquid from getting inside the top and into the screen components)? and
    (2) What can I clean the case/lid with to get off the residue of the soda?
I'm calmer now. Deep zen breathing is working....
    Very Sincerely,
    Anne

I'm really sorry to hear that! It sounds as if your husband is like my stepfather, a compulsive-obsessive *******.
I've had to deal with crap like dishes being brought down from the kitchen and piled up on my desk in the basement because they weren't washed fast enough, a ton of other things also, etc.
If the screen looks fine then the computer is fine. I don't think it's watertight, but I do think the seal is pretty tight and if it was mostly just condensation as opposed to a pouring-out, etc. very little would have entered.
I know it's upsetting. I remember when I was gifted with an Omega seamaster watch, the jeweller was a complete idiot and kept hammering away at the strap to try and adjust it and ended up scratching both the band and the bezel.. he didn't know what he was doing. They polished it out a little but the damage was done. They tried to rationalize it by saying I would have scratched it up much more myself, and while probably true I hadn't even walked out of the store yet. So I could never enjoy the watch as much after that. In retrospect if I could do it over again, I would have said to my uncle, don't buy this.
You would not be out of bounds however to ask whether or not your punishment was out of proportion to your crime. It is true you are careless to throw full drink containers into the trash because they do tip over and leak, esp. if the bag gets a little rip in it. However, a leaking garbage bag is not the same as pouring pop on a week old laptop. So by all means ask. It will be interesting to see what he says.
    Good luck with your marriage.
If you need inspiration, one time when I was 4 or 5 years old, I wrote my name on my dad's Buick with a ballpoint pen on all 4 sides. He wasn't too happy, and yes I got spanked. Maybe you could write your name on your husband's car.
Let me know when you guys hit the newspapers.

  • Can I view a video from my macbook pro on my TV using apple TV while doing something else on the laptop desktop? I.E. watch a video on the tv, while searching the web on the laptop screen?

First off, I just want to clarify that I know how to view my macbook screen, videos, music, photos etc. through the apple tv connected to my hdtv. What I'm trying to do is use it like a second monitor. For example, I'd like to watch a video from the web through the apple tv on the hdtv screen, while simultaneously able to search and use the laptop like I normally would. I know there are two desktops with Mountain Lion, but I haven't been able to figure out how to link one to the apple tv and leave the other as the macbook. I know I've done this before when I had a macbook 13" and a cable connector, there was a setting in system preferences to view one screen (tv) with a video, and then still have the macbook screen free to search for files, the web, etc.... This is different from mirroring, but I haven't located this setting on the new macbook yet.
Ideally I'd like to be able to use my hdtv as a second monitor so I can be sorting and organizing photo files on the macbook, while viewing full size high resolution images on the TV screen. I've got a ton of photographs, close to a personal library you could ask me for a type of photo and I've probably got it, but there is a decent amount of extras, doubles, and just stuff I don't need. This would really help me get organized and allow me to share my work a little bit more efficiently.
I appreciate any insights and hope I can return the favor.
    Much Love
    Soulprogression

I do not know how to do this with an Apple TV (I don't have one), but as far as I know Apple TV only does mirroring.
If you have an HDMI cable long enough to reach your TV from where you sit, then it's easy. The TV could be set up in Extended Desktop mode (mirroring off) as if it was simply another computer monitor, and then you could just drag windows to it. If you have the Displays icon in your menu bar, that's where the setting is, or if the icon is not there, then the setting is in the Displays system preference. But again, that's for conventionally connected monitors, not Apple TV. If you don't have an HDMI cable and wanted a long one that's affordable you can get those at monoprice.com.
The answer we are still waiting for is if anyone knows if Apple TV can be used in extended desktop (non-mirroring) mode.

  • Cleaning the iMac screen (backside)

In the right light, I can see dust and haze on the backside of my screen. Does the bezel just pop off somehow or do I need to bring it in and have the insides taken out to clean the glass?

Thanks to whoever mentioned the suction cup idea.
I don't think that will be too difficult to figure out, if you try hard enough. It's not as if this thread is five pages long.

  • Cleaning the iMac screen

    I have a new iMac.
It seems that it has some kind of screen cover , I don't succeed to clean the screen from marks with any product.
Is there  a solution please ?
    Thanks.

Spit Shine with the "Provided" Micro Fibre Cloth is the best way.
    In Detail:
I had my iMac for a few months now (purchased 1qtr 2014) and I have wondered about cleaning the screen for some time.  The thing is, I to tried a non-abrasive cleaning product but it did not work.  All that did was clean off the dust but left some insanely annoying smudge marks.  I wondered for sometime and inquired a far and wide about cleaning the iMac but no one really had an answer that actually worked.
Frustrated, I went back to the original box the product and pulled out the manual but also pulled out a black micro fibre cleaning cloth still sealed inside of the box where the keyboard was. I thought, "sure why not".
I continued to perform a really light strokes with the provided cloth and surprisingly all the smudges and streaks started to disappear. I felt as though I was Kratos killing a Titan or something at this point but beauty is the details.
There were some fine peaces of dirt specs stuck on the screen that the cloth would not get off.  I figured I came this far so I wasn't going to give up.
For some odd reason, I thought, "maybe a spit shine D?" .  LOL, no not hocking at the monitor, that would be silly but then again ... Anyways, I did dap a little salvia off my tongue, on to my finger, and then directly on those tough spots where specs were, and wiped it away with the micro fibre cloth with ease.  This was by far the best way I have ever cleaned the d*am* thing since purchase.

  • How best to clean the iPad screen?

How can you best, and safest, remove the inevitable smudges off your screen?

The best way I have found to keep my iPad 2 clean is by using a microfiber cloth.  I have tried quite a few and the best by far was the Pristine Screens cloth. The other cloths I tried just felt cheep, this one on the other is definitely high quality and lived up to all of the hype. I bought mine on Amazon but they have a website too. Hope this helps!  :-)

  • Cleaning the iPhone screen

I just got my first iPhone and am having a blast setting it up and getting things rolling. I couldn't find anything in the search about this except how to clean the screen protectors [which I don't have yet]. So how is the best way to clean the screen?

    Did you check the manual?

Julian, the link you provided to the manual is actually a link to an older version of the User Guide, the one for the Original iPhone (thus, it mentions the cleaning cloth as being included, along with the dock).
The correct link is this one:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPhone_UserGuide.pdf
In that current manual, your original page reference (p.46, +before you edited your post+ ) was correct.

  • Cleaning the glossy screen

Since the glossy screen is glass would it be ok to use a glass cleaner on it? ex. Windex

No need, really. The black cloth that came with the computer is intended for cleaning the screen. If you use any sort of cleaning fluid it must not be abrasive nor contain harsh chemicals.

    Hi there @praweshpathak
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are seeing a black border around the display. I am happy to assist.
Please post the full product number for your notebook. See the following, if you need help in finding that.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
For now you can try going into the Intel Graphics and Media control panel.
Select under the Advanced Mode drop down - General Settings
On the Right side- you should see a drop down for scaling, be sure to select Scale Full Screen
    Then click the apply button.
Let me know if that helps at all.
