Cleaning the screen

hi all. what is the very best way to clean the screen.
thanks

I would use a microfiber cloth and some water. If you have a particularly difficult stain that you need to get off then a little rubbing alcohol is always good for cleaning electronics as it evaporates quickly and is less of a risk to the internal components. However if you are concerned with the safety of your iPad, as it is an expensive piece of equipment, then I would consider getting some kind of polyurethane screen to protect it from damage and also make it easier to clean. I personally have ghost armored my iPad and iPhone and keeps the mess of oily residue from fingers to a minimum.

To clean the screen on your MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air, first shut down the computer and unplug the power adapter. Dampen the included cleaning cloth with just water and wipe the screen. Do not spray liquid directly onto the screen.
Important: The bottom case of the MacBook (13-inch, Late 2009) and MacBook (13-inch, Mid 2010) uses a soft nonslip material. Use a 3M Gray Microfiber or soft dye-free, lint-free cloth to clean the bottom case.

  • Clean the Screen with alcohol???

Does anyone know if it is safe to clean the screen with an alcohol prep pad? I'm a bit of a germ freak. I've cleaned all my other phones and they have been fine. I just wasn't sure about the touch screen.

i have a great way to clean the screen. have had my phone for 4 months and it looks as good as new. every evening i take a regular handtowel, wet the corner with water, squeeze out the excess, and rub the screen. then i take a dry part of the towl and rub it again. it cleans it completely and perfectlyly. as i said, my screen looks as good as new.
i also use one of the leatherette eyeglass holders, slipsleeve style to hold my ohone when not in use. i cut off about two inches of the top, re-sewed it and it works great as protection when the phone is not in use. the inside is a felt type material and protects the screen nicely.

  • What to clean the screen with?

I just got a new Imac..first time having a MAC Computer...what do I use to clean the screen with?
Thank you for all the help.

See How to clean Mac products for information about cleaning your Mac, display, keyboard, mouse, and more:
    iMac
To clean the display on your iMac, first shut down your iMac and unplug the power cord along with other connected devices. Next, dampen the cloth that came with your iMac—or another clean, soft, lint-free cloth—with water only, and then wipe the screen. Do not spray liquid directly on the screen.
    Displays
Don’t use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to clean the display.
Warning: Don’t clean the screen with a cleaner containing alcohol or acetone. Use a cleaner intended for use with a screen or display. Never spray cleaner directly on the screen. It may drip inside the display and cause damage.

  • MBPr cleaning the screen, is it safe?

    Hello guys,
I've been reading about people having the coating damaged on the retina screens. I'm almost afraid of cleaning the screen now. I've even ordered a protector film to prevent the coating from damaging. Not arrived yet so its still unprotected.
I'm wondering, is it a user error, cleaning with alcohol as an example? Or is the screen really this sensitive of cleaning?
I always treat my MBP as a baby, carry it in a laptop case and a laptop bag, so its protected twice. I'm not the type of guy that cleans the screen everyday, more like once a week or two weeks. Just with water, but i've even been reading bad things about water....
How do you guys keep it clean and undamaged? In my opinion, protector film is the best, right?

  • Ive had my macbook pro for a week now and when i cleaned the screen 4 days ago i found a little chip in the screen so the computer was definitely chipped at the manufacture or at the store but again its almost microscopic

To whom It May Concern,i have my macbook pro its a week old and after maybe 2-3 days cleaned it and noticed a little chip in the screen when the light flashed on the computer. Also my charger sometimes just dose not work ill plug it in at a different outlet then it will work its very frustrating to have this many issues i would like to see if i could get a new charger that actually works and a macbook without a tiny chip in it
Please let me know what you guys can do about it.
    Thank You,

  • Macbook Pro w/ Retina Display produces small white spots, how do I clean the screen?

How do I remove the white spots from the Macbook Pro display? The cleaning cloth takes out few of the spots, but I don't want to apply so much pressure on the display, as it may damage it. I'm a little nervous about using liquids, should I? Any solutions? Cloths? Liquids? Etc.

I've noticed that people offer various personal advice on this, but nobody references the engineers who actually designed and built the screen.  I'm assuming Apple did consult the engineers on this issue and they actually took the time to write about it in the "MacBook Pro Important Product Information Guide."  They probably thought it was important or something. ;-)
I'll quote page 2 from the 2012 rMBP version:
"Cleaning the McBook Pro Screen  To clean your MacBook Pro screen, first shut down your MacBook Pro and unplug the power adapter. Then dampen the included cleaning cloth with just water and wipe the screen. Do not spray liquid directly on the screen." (Emphasis added.)
Coming from a machining background, I would recommend using a swirling motion to avoid wearing the screen in a uniform manner.  Take note that this is not explicitly stated in the guide, and is probably not necessary considering the included cloth is so soft that it probably wouldn't affect the screen this way.

  • How to clean the screen?

I wanted to see what you guys(and girls) had to say about cleaning your imac's screen. mine has a couple fingerprints on it and it drives me CRAZY cuz you can see it when the screen is displaying dark colors(like black). i dont think i can just throw some windex on it can i? lol
    thanks

I have professionally worked on monitors in medical operating suites and such for 25 years. Some of these go for $40,000-$50,000 a pop (can you say "medical device", but I digress), and I can almost certainly guarantee two things:
    1. Alcohol and windex WILL eventually ruin the anti-glare coating of any monitor, and or cause imperfections in the screen.
    2. I have found the best cleaner to be good old H2O and a couple of soft clean lint-free rags. It is amazing how well it actually works. In fact, if you read the care instructions, most manufacturer's specify water only.
Oh, wait, I just read Apple's guidelines and guess what? Water only!
I have never (take that back, I did back in the day until I learned better) used any cleaner on any monitor or television set I have cleaned other than water. And yes, I am rather fussy about fingerprints so they get cleaned often.
In addition, there is nothing better to take injection contrast, or sticky candy, off of a monitor better than warm water.
    That's my 2cents.
    Peace-

  • How to clean the screen guard of iPod Touch!!!

I've installed a screen guard on my new iPod Touch 4G So can you please tell me how to clean the finger prints put on it. Any special cloth or anything

You probably should ask the company that made the screen guard. Otherwise, the microfiber cloth such as is commonly used to clean eyeglasses will probably work.
