Cleaning up backdrop, University Project.

Hi there,
Here's a picture from a photo shoot of a table for a university project, unfortunalty the backdrop got pretty dirty and I now need to clean it up.
After having a look on google I unfortunalty couldn't find anything which covers what I need.
I have tried the blur, smudge, stamp and spot healing tool but nothing seems to do the trick.
I am after a seamless background whilst keeping some sublte shadows, how should I go about doing this?
Is my only option to delete the background and start from scratch?
Your help is much appreciated.
Thanks
Charles

Is my only option to delete the background and start from scratch?
No.
But I think you should make a good Mask for the background and then use Clone Stamp Tool, Healing Brush Tool, … and maybe also the Filters Dust & Scratches, Gaussian Blur, …
The Brush Tool on a Layer with a Pattern Overlay (of neutral noise set to Linear Light and reduced Opacity) to emulate the noise/grain of the original image can also be useful.

  • Help - University project

    Dear all,
We have been preparing a university project using Labview software. We
need to prepare a labview program to set three pneumatic valves, that
this 3 valves will be responsable to set three pistons in a wooden
table. Could you please help me with this program?
We would like to send you an appendix with the diagram of this idea
but unfortunatly it is not possible to appendix a document here.
Because of this we will try to explain the situation below:
Imagine that these pistons are settled in a wooden table and each one
    is responsable for one work.
    1. One piston will be responsible for vertical movement (15
    centimeters) during 60 seconds.
    2. Other piston will be responsible for horizontal movement.
The wood board dimensions are: Lenght: 40 cm, Width: 20 cm, Thickness:
    1,5 cm.
This piston movement will be each 7 cm, cosidering 60 seconds for each
    work.
    3. The third piston need is responsible to another work, he needs to
recieve a signal to make a movement of 15 centimeters.
We are looking for your help as soon as possible.
If possible, send us an email that we can send you a picture of the
    system.
Thank you very much, kind regards,
    Isabela / Eduardo

    Hi Isabela,
I have used  pneumatic valves with LabVIEW.
they are generally controlled by solenoids,
which could be activated by a simple DIO card itself.
Or even one could stick on parallel port with proper
    interface maintaining the correct voltage-current
    levels .

    Sundar.

  • [Completely Hypothetical: University Project] How much for creative suite for a team of 15 (24mths+)

I am doing a University Project, and I cannot find how much it would cost for a team of 15 to all use the Adobe Creative Suite, or any other combination of the major graphic design tools, all at once.
I could not find any 'deals', or specials on the Adobe website for teams of 15, or whether they offered cheaper prices.
    Any help would be amazing,
    Thanks.

Currently you can get an Individual subscription for $19.99 a month ($299.85 a month for 15 Individual subscriptions). Details here https://creative.adobe.com/plans. The price does require an annual subscription.
If all 15 of you do not need to use the software at the same time you could get an educational Team subscription and rotate less than 15 Seats as needed.

  • Cleaning up after a project

    Hi,
I have finished a couple of projects now in indesign CS6,  and I have left behind quite a mess in my folders. I have unused subfolders,  unused images and text files.  I would like to have things a bit more structured and clean.  I'm looking for a way to Automatically clean and consolidate my structure.
For example,  push the big magic button,  and a new folder is created,  with subfolders named automatically by page number,  all the pages photos, images and texts gets copied in to their rightfull folder, of course everything gets re- linked to the new destination in indesign. Now the old folder with all the clutter can be deleted.
    Can this be done?
    Kjetil

Your best option is to Package your file with all fonts and images (via 'File - Package'). Then all used fonts and images will be on one folder. You could then effectively trash all other folders, getting rid of your mess. Besides you, likely only InDesign knows what you you used, so this is the way to do it. Here is how to Package in InDesign CS6:
    I hope this helps.

  • Cleaning up a recovered project?

    RH7, .chm help.
Our help projects at some point were lost/corrupted/whatever, and a tech writer prior to me recovered them by reverse engineering the chm files. My understanding is that this results in a lot of extraneous files and folders, as well as folder structures, within the projects that aren't needed (or necessarily right, given the nature of extracting a project out of a finished chm file).
I would like to clean these up. Are there any guidelines anywhere regarding what file types are safe to expunge, or what the most convenient method is? I'm half-way tempted to start a new project for each existing project and simply import the .htm files and .css file from old to new...

You could just use the Unused Files report from the Tools menu. I've always found what is there to be deletable.

  • Looking for ideas for a university "project"

    Hi folks!
I'm currently studying Java (optional subject) at university and we have to write a program for evaluation. The problem is... which program should i go for? I've thought in a little game ( it can't be a chess game, as it is what the teacher has given us as example)... What do you think? Any suggestions?
What about a simple filemanager? don't really know because it has to be multiplatform... Well, i'm counting on you guys!
    Thanks in advance!

skottish wrote:There are some standards which nearly everyone learns in OOP/OOD classes. For instance, employee databases and multimedia collections are popular choices. They're not too involved, but will let you not only use OOP/OOD principles, but it will also give you time to build a GUI, which also requires the same principles.
    Now as you mention it...
At the moment, the whole class has to do some 'mini-projects', including rudimentiary documentation. The favourite topics are management of either employees or goods, or projects similar to it. A friend of mine (a very talented webdesigner, from my point of view) started to program a media collection application. So it seems to be typical, what we are approaching.
It is true, that these applications are very good to start off, but the applications itself could also be realised in form of a script, as they do not necessarily require self-defined classes and their instances to be used. I tried to advance further (as my interest in programming goes somewhat beyond what we learn in school, with 1 (!) lesson per week) and started to play around with properties and inheritance. Very interesting techniques and I slowly come to understand, what OOP is all about and it's really fascinating to go deeper and deeper into the issue and to understand the fundamental things, not just the surface we're taught at school.
It may sound childish to a experienced programmer, but actually, 2 years ago, I was not a bit into programming. I started up Microsoft Visual Studio .net and forced myself to play around a bit with programming. I soon came to the result, that this is actually extremely fascinating. Due to my own laziness, I never to got to advance to a level I actually wanted to achieve, but I think this is slowly changing, mostly due to the fact, that I've become interested in all of this open source thing. It's not only about using F|OSS for everyday work, it's more the will to be a lively member of the community, which is able to share some of its knowledge in order to improve the whole project. So, if I ever manage to go beyond the barrier of my own laziness, I have some (from my point of view) intesting projects to start and am very much looking forward to participating.
To return to your initial question: How much time and experience do you have? As a beginner, I try to understand your situation as I am actually in the same one and had to do a project for school for myself. If you have more time at your disposal, you could try out some advanced stuff, like not merely employee management, but a simplified company management software or things like that, you could even program a operating system 'control center', with a rather limited approach, but it is indeed an interesting idea, which I also have in mind as the biggest project yet to come. If you can emphasize on ArchLinux, you could sit down and try to program a GUI control module for some service, the operating system is offering. Look out for appealing GUI frameworks (GTK or Qt) and their Java bindings. I wish you good luck.

  • Using mydaq - Audio analyzer university project

    Hi There,
I am a university student on my final year of my BENG elecronics degree. For my project I am proposing to use Labeled with the mydaq USB hardware to ceate aan audio analyzer (Level/THD+N/Freq response).
Can anyone see any Fundamental complications that I may have missed on reviewing the data sheets I have found on-line? before I submit my proposal.
Depending on above Is Studica.com a reliable source to buy from (Link above)
    Many thanks in advance
    Regards
    Ritchie

    Hi Ritchie,
In answer to your second question about Studica.com, studica is our academic seller for NI my-DAQ devices, and are directly linked on ni.com.
For your project are you directly inputting an audio signal into the my-DAQ through the audio jack? If you require common audio analysis like Level and FFT then a my-DAQ device would be suitable for your application.
Im guessing when you said Labeled in your post you meant LabVIEW? LabVIEW has many audio analysis vi's which you can use to display on time domain and frequency domain graphs.

  • Wish To Use Flex 2 For My University Project

    Dear All
I am a mature student studying a Computer Science Degree in
    the UK .
For my final year project, I am creating a Stock Market
Simulation with a Database back end (e.g. SQLite ?) and some kind
of front end, both to be run a a stand-alone machine.
I have a 28 weeks to design, build and run it for my
supervisors. I would like to push myself academically by building
the software using Flex 2, for the GUI and even to carry out any
calculations or processing needed for the simulation to operate
    correctly.
    My questions are
    1) Is it possible to create the simulation as I can find no
definitive way to connect Flex 2 directly to a database back end in
    a similar way to ADO.net?
    2) If it is possible which book do you recommend to get the
best and quickest results out of Flex 2?
    Thanks In Advance
    Steven

You are correct, Flex does not natively connect to any
database. Further, security restrictions on both the browser and
the Flash Player prevent access to *any* client resources, such as
    the filesystem.
So if you use standard Flex, you will need some back-end web
technology. This can be almost any platform/language you choose.
Now, the newest, coolest thing in the Adobe world is AIR. AIR
applications can be written using Flex, Flash, HTML and javascript,
and have full access to client asseets. AIR is essentially an
    internet delivered desktop application.
    AIR has SQLLite database built-in.
AIR is currently in public Beta. I do not know what will be
available as far as non-commercial or educational licensing when it
    is realeased.

  • Dreamlike filters for a university project

    happy new year all.
i am working on a project where i need to separate small sections of a film to look like a dream sequence but i am conscious of it looking too cheesy. any ideas of filters or any free downloads (student sorry) i could use to create this look?? i have looked at the 'chromatic glow' plugin from river rock studios which has helped any other ideas?
    cheers

Yes, sound is a very important (and often overlooked) factor.
And I don't think you'd be able to pull off that trick I mentioned very well in Final Cut Pro. I think that would be best performed in a compositing package, and with filmed or stock footage of a fire and not the computer generated fire that Motion has.
I think color correction and maybe a feathered matte in addition to sound design should be sufficient though. Sometimes it's all to easy to overdo it.

  • Cleaning up filesystem after project completed

    Hi everyone
I've edited several large (2 Hours+) DVD sessions recently for various events, and the projects are completed.
What I'd like to know, is what files can I safely remove from my system now that the projects are complete? I'd like to retain all the essential stuff, so I could open the project and make minor edits etc, but I don't mind if I have to re-render the entire project when (if) I do that. I'd also like to minimize the amount of stuff I need to archive off to other storage when I finally remove the projects from my hard drive.
I see that FCP uses a 'Render Files' folder which contains sub folders for each project and in each of them are loads of files with names like 'Sequence 1-FIN-0000000b' and so on. Can I safely delete these?
Is there anything in FCP itself which will create an archive set for a project? I'm using FCP 5.1.4.

    Hi,
If you think you might need to go back to your project to make changes then your media must not be deleted at all.
Yes you can delete your render files (named the way you describe) you will just need to render again when/if you go back to your project.
Using media manager you can also copy your project and only the media you really used in it or want to use (See the manual for that).
Use some extra external drives to archive your work.

  • Final Year University Project - School Automation System

    Hello All,
Im going to choose a framework for my Final Year Project. I
actually intended to make a Desktop Application which will have
nothing to do with online stuff. It will be a data aware
application lets suppose a "School Automation System" like records
of students, performance, results, teachers, salaries etc.
Now i have two options only
First to Choose Adobe AIR, as i feel comfortable enough to
work with Adobe Flex and Actionscript 3.
Second Choice is, Java, Which will take extra time for
    learning etc.
So i want to ask you guys to suggest me whether Adobe AIR is
    suitable for me or not?
I just want to built a data aware application, nothing to do
    with hardware interfacing etc.
So do you guys think that Adobe AIR can be used to make a
database application which will have records in GBs?
What kind of limitations are here?
Thanks a lot for your concern

    Hey manofspirit,
Dude, It is a no brainer at all...stick with Adobe Air which
certainly allows integration with other technologies. Air is hot
and even getting hotter, pretty soon all the INDIAN H1Bs will jump
on this band wagon as well.
AIR is here to stay with capabilities that can not be seen as
visual bells and whistles.. I have been in the industry for longer
than a decade with Java under my belt, but now seeing how Verizon,
At&t, and some other big players are tuning to ADOBE AIR/FLEX.
AIR is the future. Java is good to know, and it wouldn't be
hard to pick Java along the way. You just gotta be patient.
    Thanks.

  • My University project about java program plagiarism

I am working on my Final year Project about java program plagiarism.
i.e. My system finds similarity between two programs by "Source code" to check whether there are plagiarism.
And now i need plenty of samples and need your help.
I need two types of sample:
    1. original version - a version written by your own.
    2. plagiarized version - a version which is copied from original version and has modified to conceal that it is a plagiarism.(Try to treat the teacher)
    My two sample programs are:
    1. Find shortest path by Dijkstra's algorithm.
    2. Find the determinant of a N x N matrix.
Both programs read data from txt file as input.
Now, I sincerely invite you to help me to make samples
You can choose to do the version(original or plagiarized) and the program you like.
After you have finished, please kindly send to [email protected]
If you decide to do plagiarized version, please download the following sources and modified them.

Thank you very much. Looking forwards to your program.

    Ha ha, good try.
You know, if you had posted whatever you have achieved so far, you might actually have got the help you so obviously need. But now your only chance of getting any help here is to get yourself another username.
If this were true, your professors would have gladly supplied you with research material in exchange for use of your "system".

  • Help with university project

    Hi there.
I´m having trouble assigning buttons to go to the next
    scene, with sound and rollovers.
So i will start with the first doubt:
First of all i have a bitmap image filling the entire screen
(800 x 600) which will be used for my first scene. The i have a
button in the scene that i want it to make it clickable so that the
user goes to the next scene.
What i don´t understand is that i should convert the
bitmap to a movie clip and the button to a button?
As far as the rollover goes, i´ve sucessefully made it
well but again i don´t know how to send it to the next frame.
I think i´ve done it right...press two times to edit the
button and change the Up, Down, Over and Hit frames with new
buttons but then i can´t make it go to the next frame.
There´s also other things that i´m not making it
well which is sound so i will list all my questions in below in
order to make it more understandable:
1 - How do i go to the next scene/frame using a rollover
    button?
2 - How do i make a button with sound where the user presses
    to play/stop the sound?
3 - This is related to question #2...when the user presses
that button to listen the sound how do i trigger another button to
    show up in the scene?
That´s all for now, i need a rest for today because
things aren´t going my way. Please help me with this.
    Cheers

  • MyDAQ university project basic help needed

    Hi,
I am looking to set up a myDAQ in Labview to take in audio waves, and control a vibration motor if a certain decibel limit is reached. I have used the daq assistant to manage an audio input and have this setup so voltages from a mic are read continuously. I don't really know what step to take next to control a vibration motor. Can anyone offer and guidance on what hardware I require and how to set up the software through labview?
    Thank you kindly,
    Olly

    Dear ollyneedham,
Thank you for posting to the forums.
I wanted to get some further information from you.
What type and version of LabVIEW are you using? Do you have LabVIEW Base, Full, Professional or Development?
In regards to the audio waves you will take in, what range of frequencies are you looking at?
Use of the DAQ Assistant is a great start and I see you have already configured this to read voltages from the mic continuously.
The next step is to look at using the analogue input signals, with some boolean logic (for the threshold) and route this with a control algorithm. #
Is your motor a stepper motor or a DC brushless motor? Does it require a motor drive to run? Would you be able to post up the model and specifications of the motor?
Would you also be able to post up a diagram of the system you are creating?
You will need to use Digital I/O in order to create the control algorithm. This will be using the DAQmx driver.
Here are some links that will hopefully get you started in regards to controlling a motor using DAQmx.
    - Turn on a DC Computer Fan using a Solid-State Relay, myDAQ, and LabVIEW
