Cleaning up camera's  memory stick

I know this is sort of off topic, but I'm hoping someone can help. I have a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W90 with a 1 gig memory stick. When I dump the pics onto the mac and delete them from the DCIM folder on the memory stick, they seem to be staying on the stick. I check the info of the memory stick and it's still almost full even tho nothing is showing up in Finder.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Jeff

Hi got.mac;
Most camera manufacturers recommend that you do not do any maintenance of the memory card with a computer but do it instead with the camera. Generally they also recommend that you reformat the memory cards periodically in the camera. It appears from what I have been able to find out on this that the way the camera formats the memory card is slightly different then way the computer does so using the camera is the preferred method.

  • HT1338 how do i import photos from camera or memory stick?

How do i best imort photos from memory stick?

Plug your USB flash drive into your USB port. Your device will appear in the Finder with your images. If your camera takes an SD card, you can insert the SD card into the SDSX slot of your Macmini. In iPhoto, under preferences, you can choose to have the application automatically import images, if you desire.

  • How I can download my pictures from memory stick pro duo to my mac?

I purchase my first iMac a couple months ago and bassically everything is new for me.
I want to start dowloading pictures and videos to my iPhoto but I notice that my video camera memory card fits in the reader I purchase iVI to be able to transfer all my videos to my mac and honestly really hard and lots of steps but now from my sony camera, the memory stick pro duo doesn't fit in the reader so I purchase a Tangus adapter and the memory card fits in it but when I connecterd to the USB port noting happend, do I have the right adater? Which is the best way to do all the downloading video and picture process easier...
My question is: How can I start downloading all my pictures from my memory stick pro duo?

Have you tried connecting your camera directly to the iMac using the correct cable? If you provide more information about the camera you are using we can provide recommendations on which cable to use if you don't already have one.
If the Tangus adapter is working then you should be able to open a Finder menu and see the memory card listed in the left column under the 'Devices' section. If you click on it the files should show up. If you launch the iPhoto application it should see the memory stick and give you the opportunity to load the images. Depending on how your preferences are set, iPhoto will automatically launch whenever you connect the camera or a memory stick that has photos on it.
In order to find out whether your iMac sees the Tangus adapter pull down the Apple menu and select 'About this Mac...' When the new window opens click on the 'More Info...' button, then click on the 'System Report...' button. A new window will open listing all of the attributes for your system. Click on the 'USB' section in the Hardware column located on the left side of the window. This will display the USB device tree which includes all of the USB devices connected internally and externally to your iMac. Do you see an entry for your Tangus adapter? You can click on each device to obtain more detailed information if you aren't sure which device is which. If the Tangus adapter isn't visible then the adapter may be bad. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the adapter to a different USB port, then press the command-R keys to refresh the USB device tree. If the adapter appears then you may have had a bad connection or a problem with the port. If it still doesn't appear then test the adapter on another computer or take it back to the place of purchase to exchange the adapter.

  • I want to download pictures from a Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo to my iPad 4. There is no cord for the camera and the USB dongle requires too much power through the camera connector kit. Any good solutions?

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • Can laptop get infected from camera memory stick?

I let someone connect my Sony point-and-shoot to their PC so they could have my photos.  Unfortunately, that PC had a virus.  My photos were deleted from my camera when I disconnected it.  Since I've taken new photos, is it possible that my camera memory stick was infected and will infect my MacBook Pro when I connect my camera to it?  I have a Mac OS X, Version 10.7.5, with 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 processor.  All my previous photos were backed up, so I didn't lose them.  But I would like to be able to connect my camera to my MacBook.  Thank you!

Windows viruses do not infect OS X. You have nothing to worry about.

  • Has anybody got a camera memory stick stuck in DVD

Has anybody put their camera memory stick in the DVD?  If, so how did you get it out?

Yes unfortunately this happens all the time, go to youtube and look for various solutions. Below is a link to one method. The most obvious is to turn the machine off, unlplug all connectiosn and turn the machine on it's side and shake it out. If that isn't viable then either take the machine in for service or use one of the youtube suggestions.

  • Is there a way or an app that let me transfer files from or to my memory stick using the camera Kit?

I'm looking for a technic idk something that can help me transfer files between an iDevice like iPad or iPhone and my memory stick !! I'm sure Apple will sell way more products adding this option to the devices. They can, like, dedicate a seperated disk space to unprotected files or sth.

The camera connection kit can only be used to import photo/video files from a camera, SD card or USB flash drive. You can't import other types of files. You can't export any type of files using the camera connection kit.

  • IPhoto Pics - Sony ProDuo Memory Stick Problem

I have a Mac mini. Using a Sandisk Micromate Reader to plug a Sony 4 GB ProDuo Memory Stick into the USB port, I transferred ~200 jpegs from iPhoto to the memory stick's DCIM folder and could see them just fine via my computer after the transfer. But when I mailed the memory stick back to my son, he not only couldn't see any of those pictures I'd downloaded--but also could no longer see the pictures he'd taken and sent me. He says the memory stick appears empty, but I know it's not. What does he/I need to do so he can see them both on his Sony Cyber-Shot camera and a computer? Thanks.

This is not an iPhoto issue but a general operation issue or a Sony issue
In general camera's require a very specific format for their memory and if there is some small error in that the camera does not see the photos - If you want to send photos to him I suggest taht you simply export those photos to a desktop folder and drag that folder to a cleanly formatted memory stick = he should be able to load those onto his computer  --  he will not be able to see them on his camera - to do that you need to work with Sony support to get the required format exactly correct

  • How can I transfer photos from my iPad to memory stick without a computer? No internet connection.

Transferring photos from iPad to memory stick.

    That's the truth.
I went shopping yesterday and bought a £25 lightning adapter to SD card for my iPad. Today I find out I cannot perform the extremely simplistic task of copying my required photos to my SD card using the adapter ...
Any other tablet or phone would do this.
I now face an uphill struggle to get these photos off of the iPad and onto an SD card before going to the camera shop to get them printed on photo paper. I am due at my terminally ill mothers house in 1hour20mins. It will take me 1 hour to drive to her town. I then need to get to the camera shop and print these pictures off - I reckon at least 30mins to park and print them. And this does not factor in the wasted time and money I have already spent this morning getting nowhere with this useless adapter. It does not factor in the time wasted now trying to get these photos off my iPad, on to a computer, then on to an SD card - then leaving the house............
I think me and Android are going to be very good friends.

  • How can I upload my photos from my iPad to a memory stick I have an adapter that takes memory cards to download to iPad that has a USB socket but can't find anywhere on iPad to instruct it to do this?

How can I upload my photos to a memory stick from my iPad

You can't do it directly from your iPad, the camera connection kit only copies photos/videos to the iPad's Photos app, it can't be used to copy them off.
You can copy photos to a computer and from there to the memory stick : Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC.

  • Can't add more than one memory stick

    Hi guys,
I could really use some help, this is driving me insane for weeks and I can't find any solution among teh interweb or this forum.
My problem: I've a very instable system : different bsod on win7 start up, infinite reboot, random black screen, freeze...even the bios freeze once.
My 2cts: Memory trouble. By using various ineffective methods (listed below), the only repetitive pattern I've found is that -> the more memory stick I use, the more instable the system became.
     - With 1 stick I get sometime a stable system (3 days without trouble) but it goes back to infinite loop after a crash
     - With 2 sticks I get a stable windows but freeze after 5-10min of gaming, and infinite loop
     - With 3 sticks I can't get pass windows start up, and infinite loop most of the time
My current solution: I manage to get these results with by downgrading the memory (otherwise I get bsod on start up or infinite reboot every time even with one stick).
     - EIST and Intel Turbo Boost turn off
     - Ram frequency set to 1066Hz (instead of 1333) -> Funny this parameter seems not to hold, it goes back to 1333
     - Unlink ram configuration: CRate at 2 and 9-9-9-27 (instead of 9-9-9-24) -> not sure because the value on center column is still at 24
     - Vram set between 1.5v and 1.65v (instead of 1.46 in auto)
    Other unsuccessful stuff I've tried:
     - each tests are made with barebone configuration (one HDD, no DVD, etc...)
     - multiple CMOS clearing (all night with jumper)
     - several clean win7 install
     - several tests with each of my 4 ram sticks alone (on DIMM 1)
     - all drivers update
     - return the motherboard to get a new one (the actual is 3 months old)
     - buying 2 more ram sticks
     - BIOS flash with 1.H, 1.G and even the brand new one 1.I !
    My configuration :
    i5 2500K @3.3Gb
    P67A-GD55 (b3)
    GIGABYTE GTX 560 ti
    2x2Gb Crucial DDR3 1333MHz (CT25664BA1339.M8FR)
    2x2Gb GSkill DDR3 1333MHz (F3-10600CL9D-4GBNT)
    SSD HD for system
    Windows 7 64bits PRO sp1
    Corsair TX650
No fancy keyboard like GR11 (microsoft wireless 10.A)
    Logitech G500 usb mouse
    Any ideas ?? Thanks !

Sorry! Not going to work, no way, no how!
Ditch the G.Skill & use just the Crucial. RAM defaults the way it does because of the SPD profiles programmed on the chips. Use either 'Link' or Auto. Set Dram V. to 1.514-1.521v., manually set timings to CR 1, 9 9 9 24.

  • I am unable to insert the Memory Stick into the card reader slot on my HP 7510

I have three Photosmart 7510's (C311a)  and one Photosmart Premier (C310a).  All of these printers have the identical Card Reader slot on the lower, left front corner.  ALL four printers will not accept a standard Sony Memory Stick from my Sony digital camera.  In all cases, the slot has two layers for "DUO  SD  MMC" chips and each will accept the "Sony Memory Stick Duo" without the silver and white MSAC-M2 Adaptor.  No matter what I try, the Memory Sticks will not even start to go into the slot.  I have looked into the slots with a fiber=optic flashlight attachment and there appears to be no issues -- except, possibly, the separator between the upper and lower part of the two-slot opening, is a little above center in the opening.  Sitting in front of the 7510, I can look into the slot and see a white or very light gray surface that is sided to side across the opening, just inside the opening.  When I get down and look into the slot at about a 'flat' angle, the white surface does appear to be just high enough that it partially obstructs the lower slot -- all the way across the slot.
I have tried four Memory Sticks and two Memory Stick Duo's, with and without adaptor.  NOTE that the Memory Stick DUO, when NOT in the adaptor, will fit right into the upper part of the slot.  However, with the Memory Stick Duo in its adaptor, and all the other Memory Sticks I have, none of them will start inot the upper or lower 'bay' in the slot opening.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I think I will declare this discussion closed.  In an earlier post I said I would need to keep working at this problem until I seized up the right setting.  Well for my 1080ii XDCAM EX 35 timeline, I have alredy tried a number of settings.  The source WWV is 1280x720.  The problem is stuttering video losing every other frame, audio popping or audio continuously losing a greater amount of sync.  I tried APPLE TV 1280x720 in Compressonr (I'm still making more, not all have been tested.)  The Apple TV h.264 works.  It has to be rendered.  I know some will say that's not optimal.  I have put a lot of time into this with no other good results so I'm accepting this for now.  I might be cooking up another right now in Compressor that will work better.  Thanks to the posters.

  • Satellite Pro P100-327: memory card reader does not read Memory Stick Duo

    I just got a P100-327
    http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/jsp/productPage.do?service=UK&PRODUCT_ID=121991&toshib aShop=true)
which, according to that page, is supposed to have "1 x 5-in-1 Bridge Media slot (supports SD Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, MultiMedia Card, xD-Picture Card)" but the pdf user manual that came with it says that it does not support Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick Pro Duo or mini-SD.
However, I have a Memory Stick Pro, and a Memory Stick Pro Duo in a Memory Stick Pro adapter and the reader can't seem to read either of them (they should both count as Memory Stick Pro which should be readable right?)
Should I be able to read my Memory Stick Pro cards? Why can't I since it says I should be able to? Do I need to install something first?

    Hi
In my knowledge and according to the manual the Bridge Media slot supports Media of type
    - SD Memory Card
    - MultiMediaCard xD-Picture Card
    - Memory Stick
    - Memory Stick Pro
Please note that the Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro are not the same as Memory stick Duo and Memory Stick Pro Duo.
    Dont mix it.

  • How do I get a MS Word document on a Memory stick over to my IPad to edit and continue writing?

I am looking to transfer my book that I am writing, with photos, from a USB memory stick written in Microsoft Word document format across to my IPad 3 to continue working on, editing it and adding more text and photos.
    Thanks for any help.
    Michael D

You can't directly - the camera connection kit which has a USB connection only supports the copying of photos and videos to the Photos app. You will need to copy the document onto a computer and then, depending on what the app that you want to edit it in on the iPad supports, either copy it via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc

  • Import files from memory stick on Sony CX-100

Hi, I have several CX-100s and two iMacs - having the same problem with both. I have borrowed a memory stick from one CX-100 and put it in another (both PAL). I can view the footage on the memory stick through the camera, but when I connect the camera to iMovie, it will only view/import the old footage filmed on the other camera. The footage is definitely on the memory stick, but it's as if it's in another chapter on it or something? Has anyone seen anything like this before or know a method I can retrieve this footage into iMovie? Thanks in advance.

Have you recorded any SD (MPEG-2) clips on the memory stick on the other camera? If so, you have to first erase the SD content before iMovie will recognise the HD (AVCHD) content. This assumes of course that you have recorded in HD format on the camera you are now trying to connect. If it is SD format you should be able to access it through iMovie.
This Apple support article spells things out:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1793
Although your camera is not mentioned in the article, the same principles apply. Your camera is listed in this iMovie '09 Camcorder Support article, which shows a link for your camera to the above support article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3290#2
If this doesn't help, try connecting to iMovie using a card reader, rather than connecting the camera.
