Does anyone know how to delete files from their Word Mac and create folders to combine files? I seem not to be able to do this?

iCloud can't back up Macs, only iPhones, iPads and iPods touch. Mac backups are too big for iCloud.
As you can't use iCloud, start looking for other services like CrashPlan, but if you are planning on making backups only in one site, I recommend you to get an external drive and use Time Machine to make backups. With this way, you won't need an Internet connection if your files get damaged and you will be able to restore them quickly

Corrupt directory or disk drive, bad sectors, too many background apps, not enough memory, too old for what you want to run, lack of SSD boot drive....
And 10GB of free space is old, not a reason - a disk drive that is even 20% free can be highly fragmented free space and other issues.
Clone your drive.
Repair it.
Move all the user and media files off the boot drive to another "data' drive.

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

I have paid for Adobe Acrobat XI Pro OCR but it will not recognise a letter in the serial number for me to update my adobe account and any of the programs I have tried using to convert a PDF file on a Mac to a word doc it is converting file with funny sym

I've checked your account, and all is well there. Please make sure that you're logging in with the same Adobe ID/password that you used when you signed up.
Then, clear the browser cache, and try logging in directly to https://cloud.acrobat.com.

You can certainly use iWork, though I hesitate to recommend it to a seasoned Windows user simply because it would add another level of the unfamiliar with which you would have to gain familiarity. The iWork applications are certainly very competent and in most respects both easy to use and surprisingly powerful. They are not 100% compatible however, though that typically manifests itself in document formatting issues rather than anything more significant.
I have never attempted to import emails from a Windows system into MacOS - other than in Outlook connected to an Exchange server, thus not really an issue at all. I doubt that the Mail app in MacOS can import directly, but of course you could always set the account(s) up on the Mac and then forward emails you want to keep from the PC. Not elegant, but it works. Virtually any Windows document or file, whichever application created it, can be opened or converted for use on a Mac, and using both systems on my desk each day I rarely see any issues switching stuff from one machine to the other. You may stumble over one or two issues, but likely not significant.
In switching platforms there will be some inevitable issues, not so much with being able to import your stuff because there's usually a workaround or a utility that can help, but just with getting familiar with the platform and the differences between Windows and MacOS that can obscure their similarities. From time to time the support community here hears from a user who has found the migration very problematic and regrets it, but for the most part the phrase 'I should have done this years ago...' is rather more prevalent!

Converting .pdf files to Word in Pro v9 for Mac

I have just purchased a copy of Acrobat Pro v9 for Mac with the idea of converting .pdf files to word documents in the correct format and for editing. When I attempt to export a .pdf file to Word (2008) or save as a Word doc or docx file, the file doesn't open and my Word program freezes. To unfreeze, I need for force quit Word and begin again. I was told that pdf to word could be done in this version of Acrobat. Has anyone had this experience?

What type Document, was it to begin with? (Text/Image)
If the PDF was a Text document, you should be able to with no problem?
IF text based and converted, try opening word first then open the document.
There is a format that Word will read called RTF (Rich Text File), that Word can read.
Try converting to RTF then try opening. When opened then save as DOC or DOCX
If it was created from a scan, Word my not open it, because it is an image (a Big Picture).
Finally, if it has a lot of images, they may not do right, and may cause a lot of problems.

PDFMaker is not available for Mac OS. However, you can still create PDFs by using the File > Print command. In the Print dialog box, choose Save As Adobe PDF from the PDF menu.

Time Machine doesn't keep just a single copy of the current contents of your Mac. That, of course, takes more space. It varies depending on how you use your Mac, and how long you want TM to be able to keep backups, but a "rule of thumb" is that TM needs 2-3 times the space of the data it's backing-up.

Can someone please tell me the name of the free i application for cleaning files on a mac that is highly rated?

So far all of the supposed "cleaning" applications I have tested are basically worthless. They either don't do half of what they claim they will do or they do dangerous things and don't even tell you they are doing them. Make suggestion is to avoid anything that claims it is going to "clean things" up for you.
I would recommend that you use OmniDiskSweeper. It will tell you the folders and files that are using the most space on you disk drive. With that knowledge you can then decide what can be deleted or moved.

Where is the Clean Install file for Flash Player for Mac?

The troubleshooting for Mac Install of Flash Player suggests that one uninstall and then perform a clean install. I believe that this has also been referred to as an "offline" installer. When one clicks on the the link to the clean install, one obtains the dreaded "404", File not Found error. Does anyone know where one can find the clean install file. The standard update almost never, ever works on my 2009 PowerMac, now running Yosemite. Would someone please suggest to the folks running the Adobe website that it would be nice to have a working link to such a file. This issue has come up before. Would someone also suggest that before any new update is unleashed upon the world that someone make sure that the "Clean Install" link is linked to a download of a "Clean Install" installer?
