Cleanup disk space on SCCM Management point server

Hi all
I have a SCCM 2007 infrastructure with 1 primary site and three secondary sites.
The disk data D of a sccm management point of one secondary site is full.
Is it possible cleanup data from a sccm tool??
Regards
Christian

if you have other drives with enough space, you can create no_sms_on_drive.SMS and place it on the root folder to avoid storing the packages.

  • Out of disk space when copying files from server to server

    Servers: NW 5.1.7
    Workstation: Windows 98SE with client32 v3.4
There is a batch file that copies files from server A to server B. At certain point, the copying gets stuck and message is displayed on the workstation: ""Network Status. Client32: out of disk space writing file to server B." Unless I press OK, the copying will not continue. There's plenty of space and memory, no quotes or user restrictions on server B. This procedure worked for years without any problem and nothing was altered on the servers or workstation at time of occurrence.

Did you purge the volumes ?
How high is ratio between compressed and noncompressed data on volumes?
I assume, that for this usage (copy one server to another) you should
seek the different way (program), which transfer the compressed data
    with untouched state of compression.

Hi, it maybe a permission issue of your task directory (%windir%\Tasks).
Take this thread as a reference, it contains the same error as you:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrsetup/thread/248b8fca-c6f3-47a4-a76c-c45125296692/
In the thread Bechir Gharbi gave some steps to fix it:
        - Remove the MP as a site system role (if it is still installed), wait for it to finish
        - Remove IIS completely
        - Reboot the server
        - Stop the Task Scheduler Service
        - Rename the %windir%\Tasks folder to something else (or move it)
        - Start the Task Scheduler Service (this will recreate the %windir%\Tasks folder)
        - Reinstall IIS, BITS, WebDAV
        - Insure BITS and WebDAV are enabled
        - Reinstall the MP

  • How can I see the rest of the disk space with SCCM 2012 R2?

I can see most the elements of PCS in the report of assets intelligence function in SCCM 2012 R2 ,except for the free disk space.
Thus, I cannot be noticed when some servers  need more space.
    What should I do?

    Hi,
    Please check the following steps.
    SCCM Console -> Administration -> Client Settings -> Hardware Inventory -> Set classes -> Logical Disk(SMS_LogicalDisk) -> Free Space(MB)

  • Database msdb cannot be opened due to inaccessible files or insufficient memory or disk space - in recovery pending status

came in this fine monday morning and it looks like developers were running some kind of trace that filled the primary DATA folder with about 80,000 5mb trace files.  now that process has stopped and the logfiles have been cleaned up, but when attempting to connect to the server using the management console i get the error:
Database 'msdb' cannot be opened due to inaccessible files or insufficient memory or disk space.  See the SQL Server errorlog for details. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)
when i check the status it is in recovery pending mode.  i have a backup from yesterday but im not sure if this database became corrupt before that backup or not because this process was ongoing over the weekend.  the last timestamp on the msdb and log files is 7am this morning..
I am not sure how to proceed recovering the msdb database with limiting interruption to the users.  any advice is extremely appreciated.  this is sql server 2008.  i can login via sqlcmd and see it is in recovery pending status:
    1> select state_desc databasestatus_sysdtabase from
    2> sys.databases where name ='msdb'
    3> go
    select state_desc databasestatus_sysdtabase from

For someone experiencing a similar problem this answer is unacceptable. You're basically telling me to reboot the server to fix this.  You vaguely mention using process explorer to find out who is using the file.  Can you please provide
some more information on that?  I have a similar problem and rebooting the server to fix it is not an option.  This problem keeps reoccurring.
OS Error 32 means file has an open handle by someone else. If that is a user process then you can catch it via Process Explorer. If it's a kernel mode object then it's difficult to catch that and restart is the only choice.

  • Disk Space Issues

Does anyone out there have best practice insights on how to deal with disk space issues on the database server?  Can we copy the files onto different drives and then rename the drives?  Will everything with the BPC application sync up again?
Is there anything tricky in dealing with this issue?
    Thank you,
    Grant

    Hi Grant,
I once had to move the SQL database files from one drive to another. The only thing that I did was 'Detach the SQL database' in Enterprise Manager, move the files and 'Attach these files again. Everything else was automatically changed.
You can attach/detach using sql statements or using the graphicall user interface from SQL.

  • How to assign clients to alternate management point

    Hi Guys
Does anyone know how to reassign clients to another management point on the same site.
We have 3 seperate locations connected by a vpn, our main site has a primary site server with the management point role and the other 2 locations are just distribution and management point servers.
I have built another distribution /management point server as the primary server site location as i want to take some of the roles of the primary site server as its overloaded, all my clients at this site are already assigned to the primary site server management
point but want to assign them to the new distibution/management point at the same site.
Was going to uninstall the management point role of the primary site server so that just my new server would have this role at this location, if i do this will the cleints automatically assign themself to the only available management point at this site
    or will they break.

The clients always request a list of available MPs. If you deinstall a MP it will not be on that list anymore, so the clients will automatically go to another available MP.

  • Lion disk space is disappearing on MacBook Pro

My 2009 MBP running 10.7.3 was running out of hard disk space.  To the point of only 90MB available.  Did all of the normal stuff - deleted Trash, looked for duplicates, etc.  But in adding up all of the stuff in the directories, couldn't find where all of the space was being used.
Searched the forums and tried things like turning Time Machine off.  Disabling local Time Machine Snap Shots.  But still couldn't find out what was going on.  I could select "Get Info" on the internal hard drive, and watch the space disappear without doing anything.
Finally figured out what was going on this evening.  I had been looking in my home directory, and found that it had over 200GB of stuff, even though when I added up the sizes of each subfolder, I got nowhere close to 200GB.  So I next made the hidden folders visible (Terminal command: chflags nohidden ~/Library/) and then looked further.  The culprit was the Mail folder.  And within that folder was a Yahoo recovered mail folder that had almost 200GB of stuff in it.  Deleted that folder (also deleted the Yahoo account from Mail preferences which means I will need to access Yahoo Mail through the web instead of Mail).
    That fixed it!
I hope this helps others that are loosing disk space for no apparent reason.

Spotlight was changed for Lion;  changed so much that Lion must create a new index for every disk/partition on your system.   Worse, until it's done, Time Machine backups will run at a crawl, or worse, because the backups also need to be indexed again, but seem to get a lower priority than other drives.
See if the other indexing has completed -- if there's a tiny dot in the Spotlight icon at the right of your menubar, click it and see what it's indexing.  Until that's done, your backups will be very slow, if they move at all.  You may be better off to cancel the backup and turn Time Machine OFF until everything else is done.
The first backup will still take a long time, as the TM drive still has to be indexed.

  • Low disk space detected

    Hi Experts,
We have a problem of Low disk space in our Deski Report Server.
    The Error Description is,
Name: Low disk space detected on volume D:
Description: Disk volume 'D:' is low or out of free space.
when i tried logging into the server, i can see there are some child folders that have been created and that is consuming much space.
Could any one please suggest how it should be analyzed and rectified.
    Its an Emergency, please help.

    Hi
go into the CMC under Servers, select the Desktop Intelligence Processing server and in its properties modify the temp path to another location ( you have to create the new folder manually). Restart the Deski server.
Still I believe that you will get a problem if you do not free some place on your D drive ( I assume this is the installation drive) because this is the drive where the BOBJ stores both temporary and permanent files. Another option is to move the file repository on another location.
(Assuming you are running BOBJ 3.x)
    1) Stop your SIA using the CCM
    2) Copy the file repository (Found under <BOBJ installation directory>\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\Filestore) to another location
    3) Start the SIA again
    4) Go to the CMC and under Folders change the directories for your Input and Output File Repository Servers. Restart the servers.

  • Disk space and processes shutting down

    Hi,
Suppose my disk space at /x mount point is 100% and at /y is (say) 50%.
If my processes are running at /y, then will they be killed as my disk space is full at /x?
Assume am using /y for running some processes and /x for storing logs.
    Regards,

An application is stored on disk and its processes may access a disk but the program runs in RAM. When you run out of RAM and the system can no longer perform vital functions, then as a last resort, the OOM killer will come into play. You can find more info about it searching in Google.
What happens when you run out of space for log files will depend on on how an application was written to handle this situation. Usually programs stop logging or try to remove old logs, and some programs may simply stop and wait for the problem to be resolved, e.g. Archivelog of Oracle RDBMS.

  • Checking OS disk space

    Hi, everybody !
I would like to know, using a Oracle procedure, the Windows Disk Space.
For example, if my Oracle database have datafile in two drives (D: and E:) and I'd like to know the disk size and free disk space, is it possible using a procedure ?
I tried with a java program, compiled as java source but i am facing some errors.
    Thanks in advance,
    Joao Lanaro

    Hi, everybody "
To me there is not wrong, but let me explain, I have an instance used to monitoring another Oracle instances, so one of these checks is how much free OS disk space is available in each server.
I am using the Oracle scheduler to execute it sometimes per day. Because this I thougth that a procedure is the better option, I found a java program but I do not know so much Java and I could not fix the errors.
If I use a batch file, as you said, How can I use it into a procedure, How can I get the return of dir and use it to subtract or sum with my datafiles size ?
    Thanks in advance,

  • SCCM - Branch Distribution point and Management point on the same server

    Hi All,
Would like to know if any other SCCM roles like management point , distribution can be installed on the same server on which a branch distribution point is installed?
    Rgs,

    Hi,
Branch Distribution Points no longer exist in Configuration Manager 2012 and above.
I'm assuming you want to install additional roles on an existing server that is currently only acting as a Distribution Point and the answer is yes, this is possible, but it depends on which other roles you want to install and there will probably be some
    prerequisites needed.
Can you elaborate on which roles you are considering installing?

  • The server is failing to download some updates. Event ID 10032 (ran out of disk space & extended volume, still got error)

On Friday, 9/17 @ 7 am, after deselecting Windows 2003 in products, I ran Server Cleanup Wizard (as well as sqlcmd -I -i"WsusDBMaintenance.sql" -S "np:\\.\pipe\MSSQL$MICROSOFT##SSEE\sql\query"), and 0 bytes were freed which I thought
odd.   I then selected Windows Server 2012 R2 and Office 2013 since we're going to be using those.
After this, on 9/19 @ 7:30am, the server had the message:      Event 364 Content file download failed. Reason: There is not enough space on the disk.    Source File: /d/msdownload/update/software/secu/2014/04/coreservermui-it-it_ebb7e1e8d487b90ffd719f06122a3db947b3f949.cab
    Destination File: e:\WSUS\WsusContent\49\EBB7E1E8D487B90FFD719F06122A3DB947B3F949.cab.
At some time during the day on 9/19, our SAN admin increased the volume (all server's volumes are on a SAN) from the SAN end, and I extended it in Disk Mngmt on the WSUS server.   I went home for the weekend
I came back today (9/22), saw I had gotten the "the server is failing to download some updates. Event ID 10032"   on Saturday 9/20 @ 1:30am.   I checked the volume \WSUScontent is on (the volume we extended) and it has
17GB free. So I assume space should not still be an issue.
The same 10032 error had occurred on 9/19, at 1:30 pm, but I assume it was before my colleague and I bumped up the disk space.  But why it occurred again the next day I'm not sure.
However, since the 10032 error on 9/20 @ 1:30am, it has not reoccured, and no yellow or red event messages.  So possibly all is well now.  Could it have been that WSUS was being sluggish to recognize the increased disk space, even though Windows
    itself recognized it?

Thanks Lawrence, I went through the steps you instruct on (which I did not know about, so I greatly appreciate that!), and freed up over 30GB of space.
    Outstanding! :-)
But your steps don't really address deleting all (solely) 2003 updates.
Correct. First, because you cannot DELETE updates, unless they are expired or old revisions, and use the Server Cleanup Wizard to do that.
Second, because the article was about removing *unneeded* updates. It does not consider the scenario where a product category is being retired
When I go to my "2003" update view, sorting by Any Except Declined, and Status Any, I still see tons of 2003 ones, some solely for it, others that apply to 2003 and other OSs. I want to leave the latter, but delete the ones solely for
2003. Not just superseded ones, but ALL that are solely for 2003.
You cannot delete updates. You can DECLINE updates, if that's what you want to do.
So let's talk a minute about these updates that might be applicable to operating systems other than Windows Server 2003. Let's be practical about the other operating systems listed. If you look closely, I suspect you will discover that those "other
operating systems" are either Windows XP or Windows 2000, but nothing else. Do updates for Windows XP or Windows 2000 really matter to you? I suspect not.
The reason I highly suspect this is because the practice of building packages targeted at multiple operating systems was terminated when Windows Vista was released (actually I think it happened with the release of WSUS v3, but this is just a matter of trivia,
the relevant point is that it's not done anymore, and has not been done for many years).
Ergo, I know for a fact, that NONE of the updates applicable for Windows Server 2003, will be applicable for any newer operating system. Ergo, it probably doesn't matter at all, so just SelectAll -> Decline if that's what you want to do.

  • WSUS Server Database maintenance--WSUSCOntents Folder size is taking all the disk space (75GB)

    Hi ,
We have set up WSUS Server  3.2 on Windows server 2008 R2  and set the Disk size as 80 GB. The WSUSContents folder is taking away all the disk space and as a result WSUS Server stopped working.
    Details:
    1. There are no other languages selected other than English.
2.There are no Downstream servers configured.
3.Server cleanup wizard runs for 10 seconds and it shows the below report .
    4. Is there any script available to purge the WSUS database?
    India1947

The WSUSContents folder is taking away all the disk space and as a result WSUS Server stopped working.
You need to perform additional administration on the server other than just running the Server Cleanup Wizard. Running the wizard with no other administration will accomplish nothing of significance.
    Removing unneeded update approvals
Of course, running out of room on the disk drive may well have corrupted the database, at which point the only reliable means of recovery is to install a NEW instance of WSUS with a fresh database.
