Clear CMOS short & power up what could happenn

I bought used K7N2 Delta 2 Platinum, mounted it to case checked everything out and powered up. After 5sec. of "nothing happens" something sed to me: power off.
I checked once again and found clear CMOS pins short. I don't have paper manual so I downloaded it from MSI site but cant find D-bracket LED's codes in it (will have one in few days).
D-bracket shows 1-green 2-green then 1&2-blinking alternatly few times and 1 sometimes stays green , sometimes goes red (2 always stays green), 3-red, 4-red.
My question is:
Manual saying that power on with clear CMOS short WILL damage mobo, but I want know what can be damaged in this 5 sec?
In LED codes from other mobo 1 & 2 green means: decompressing bios image to RAM, in this moment POST stops so maybe only bios is damaged and needs to by flashed?
There was Athlon 166FSB mounted, and i tried with Duron 133FSB so I took out battery and disconected mobo for several hours to be sure that CMOS is cleared
I didn't tryed INSERT key method yet, and hope that this will resolve problems (but in my country people saying "Hope is mother of stupids" ).
Anyway I want to be prepared for the worst, and want know what worst means in this case.
And in worst please tell me where I can make an RMA on this mobo. I can't find anything on MSI website.
Greetings and waitin for any ideas...

Try stripping the board down to just the memory, cpu, vid card, floopy drive, keyboard and mouse. See if it'll post that way. Also make sure you're using a power supply that has the 4 pin connector for the cpu power and it's connected to the motherboard.

My macbook pro has service battery, what could happen if i upgrade the ram to 8gb

"Service Battery" means just that - you need to make an appointment with your local Apple Store or AASP and have the battery checked out and, likely, replaced.
If you upgrade to 8GB it will have no effect on the battery. 8GB is sort of the minimum that I would shoot for.

  • My unit will not start.  It is getting power.  What could be wrong?

I have a MAC Book and it is getting power both through the battery and the direct hook up.  When I press the ON switch nothing happens.  Any idea what could be wrong?.  I have taken the battery out,  let it ist and then replace it.  No change it still will not turn on.  HELP.

Have you tried resetting the System Management Controller? That is a good first step for power related issues such as this.
    Best of luck.

  • Cleared CMOS with power on!!!

you know that nice big flashy button that says 'clear CMOS' tho only while power is off? .. well i've done it with power on!!!
    current system being ...
    MSI Eclipse PLUS Ver1.0,
    3x 2Gig OCz Tri RAM,
    920 i7 CPU,
    ATI 4870 X2 GPU,
    850W InWin PSU
graphics card was not responding after 2 months working fine, after some other debug attempts ... i pushed the clear CMOS button ... now i'm sitting with a mobo that ... serves me right for leaving RTFM till last!!!
reboots once after (roughly) 10 sec and remains on,
    LED status remains at 'FF',
    D-LED shows blank display,
all mobo panel button lights (rst, pwr, overclock) remain on,
    no communication to graphics card,
    status LED is green,
system fans and processor fans are all on,
hdd starts tho no activity is heard.
    i've tried ...
    different power supplies,
    different graphics cards,
    different RAM,
taking mobo battery out, uplugging power, removing CPU, removing RAM, .... removing everything and leaving mobo for 24 hours as such.
i've seen that a bios can be loaded from a usb disk? searched MSI website for documentation regarding this tho nothing found ... would it even help?

I think you have a high chance of BIOS corruption. You can try flashing the BIOS again but I do not think it will help much. Your best bet now is to RMA the board.

  • Must Clear CMOS after power outage...

    Hi everyone
Every time I disconnect my computer from the
power or switch off the power on the PSU i have
to clear my CMOS to be able to start.
(i.e. the power button will not work)
After that everything works fine until the
    next power outage....
I've tried replacing the battery a few times
but does no seem to help either.
Any clues or hints? It's getting a bit annoying
to have to set all the BIOS settings at every power outage
    Thanks in advance

I don't know what I have changed but it seems to work now
    - I took out the battery and put it back
    - Load BIOS default first and then Load High performance Defaults
    - I used to use keyboard key as wake up event but disabled that
    feauture for now.
    - I've set the "Restore on AC/Power Loss"="Power off"
It seems to work with "Power On" to but I suspect that
"last state" together with keyboard wake up events is what
    might be causing this....
I'm happy it works now so I'm not going to change anything
    with this system for now
Thanks to everyone for all help,

  • Who knows what could happen?

When I connect my iphone 4s to itunes error -42110 appears and does not the phone's microphone. It works the headset microphone.

    Go to http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297
Then choose "Specific conditions..." and choose error -42100
If you have the newest itunes installed, you may need to delete the SC Info folder.
About your sound problem it could be a software or a hardware issue. Restore the iphone as new device (after making a backup) and check if sound works, if not, your iPhone may need repair.

  • Question(s) about what could happen to my iPod Touch...

So I have just inherited my sister's launch iPod Touch, as she is receiving a gen 2 from her boyfriend in the very near future. I have a couple questions about what I need to do with it and the consequences of said actions:
    1. How do I go about registering the Touch to my own Apple account? She has her own Apple/iTunes account (she also has a gen 2 Nano and a gen 2 Shuffle), and I want to be able to sync it with my own account. I realize that the songs and videos will be lost in the transition, but that's irrelevant to me.
    2. Since this is a launch Touch, it came with ver. 1.0 OS software. Since then, she has paid for and installed ver. 2.2 (or whatever is latest prior to 3.0). In regards to my first question, will the Touch revert to ver. 1.0, and I will have to be forced to re-purchase the OS update in order to get the apps store, new features, etc?
Thanks for your time and patience.

So this is what popped up when I tried to sync the Touch:
"The iPod is synched with another iTunes account...what would you like to do?"
    1. "Erase & Sync" replaces the contents of this iPod with the contents of this iTunes library (this worries me, since it doesn't specify what particular contents i.e. software updates).
    2. "Transfer Purchases" copies iTunes Store purchases this computer is authorized to play from this iPod to this iTunes library (so, do I need my sister's ID and password to confirm I am able to use her bought data? If so, will this let me use all her apps, etc?)

  • Change sql server database mode from full to simple when others access that database. What could happen?

    That' sql server 2008.
    Thanks

    Hi,
As I understand, you're basically interesting in the situation where users are connected to the database and they are using the database at the time you change the database recovery mode. It is highly recommended not to change the recovery mode while users
are using the database, especially do not use any bulk operation!
    1. I highly recommend to read this link:
View or Change the Recovery Model of a Database (SQL Server)
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms189272.aspx
    2. as mentioned by all previews post there is several consideration that you should know regarding the database itself during the operation, as (1) logs are truncated, (2) process breaks the log chain, and loose point in time recovery.

  • If tempdb .mdf file out of disk space and we do nothing to fix, what could happen? Will anything crash?

Will anything crash or stop working if tempdb .mdf file out of disk space?

It might crash, sql server will stop responding or you may not able to perform any action until space allocated to tempdb.
Running out of disk space in tempdb can cause significant disruptions in the SQL Server production environment and can prohibit applications that are running from completing operations.
Refer below article to troubleshoot Temp db out of disk issue

  • My iPad no longer bleeps when I plug it in to my pc or power source. What could be the problem?

My iPad2 no longer bleeps when I plug it in to my pc or power source, what could be the problem and what must I do to rectify this problem. Is it a sign of a malfunction?

A description of how system sounds and can be controlled ....
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

    Hi
And without info - it's near to impossibly to help. Try my general troubleshooting note:
    Troubleshooting note
When iMovie doesn't work as intended this can be due to a lot of reasons
iMovie Pref files got corrupted - trash it/they and iMovie makes new and error free one's
problem in iMovie Cache folder - trash Cache.mov and Cache.plist
Creating a new User-Account and log into this
This forces iMovie to create all pref. and cache files new and error free
Event or Project got corrupted - try to make a copy and repair
a Codec is used that doesn't work (even though iMovie and/or iDVD tries to / they fail in the end)
version miss match of QuickTime Player / iMovie / iDVD
preferences are wrong - Repair Preferences
other hard disk problem - Repair Hard Disk (Disk Util tool - but start Mac from ext HD or DVD)
External hard disks - MUST BE - Mac OS Extended (hfs) formatted to work with Video
( UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - works for most other things - but not for Video )
USB-flash-memories - usually do not work
Net-work connected hard disks - usually do not work (most often not fast enough and WRONGLY FORMATTES as DOS etc)
iPhoto Library got problems - let iPhoto select another one or repair it. Re-build this first then try to re-start iMovie. When iMovie starts-up it first look trough this iPhoto library and if faulty it all Halt’s.
    This You do by
    First -  close iPhoto
    Secondly - on start up of iPhoto - Keep {cmd and alt-keys down}
Thirdly - now select all five options presented
THEN - WAIT a long long time (>20 hours are not strange)
free space on Start-Up (Mac OS) hard disk to low (<1Gb) - I never go under 25Gb free space for SD-Video (4-5 times more for HD)
external devices interferes - turn off Mac - disconnect all of them and - Start up again and re-try
GarageBand fix - start GB - play a few notes - Close it again and now try iMovie
Screen must be set to million-colors
    Third-party plug-ins doesn't work OK
Run "Cache Out X", clear out all caches and restarts the Mac
Let Your Mac be turned on during one night. At about midnight there is a set of maintenance programs that runs and tidying up. This might help
Turn off Your Mac - and disconnect Mains - for about 20-30 minutes - at least this resets the FireWire port.
In QuickTime - DivX, 3ivx codec, Flip4Mac, Perian etc - might be problematic - temporarily move them out and re-try
(I deleted the file "3ivxVideoCodec.component" located in Mac HD/Library/Quicktime and this resolved my issue.)
    buenrodri wrote
I solved the problem by removing the file: 3ivxVideoCodec.component. after that, up-dated iMovie runs ok.
Last resort: Trash all of iMovie and re-install it

  • Hello. When I connect my imac Start, as usual, comes the start signal and then the white screen with the load signal then nothing happens. What could be the problem?

Hello. When I connect my imac Start, as usual, comes the start signal and then the white screen with the load signal then nothing happens. What could be the problem?

Presuming you get the chime, most of your Mac hardware is working and has passed the first part of the power-on self-test.
If the screen comes on, basic graphics is working.
The dark gray Apple is not present inside the Mac -- it must be loaded from a boot device. If the dark gray Apple appears, at least one of your boot devices has some capabilities. The flower petal/gear moves while Darwin is initializing and loading. If it stops immediately, something is terribly wrong.
When the screen turns blue, Mac OS X has loaded and your graphics card transitions to Interrupt-driven operation. LoginWindow task draws the login screen, and Mac OS X is ready for login.
What could be the problem depends on where in the process it stops, and whether the power light is blinking.

Perhaps, but it just got a chunk of publicity.
As for the OP:  Poor taste or irreverence is not a crime in the US. Apple is an American company. While they have the right to pull an app from the store, it will not likely be their first reaction. And frankly, raising a ruckus about will likely only bring attention to it. Basically the app as been sitting in the app store since August of last year without a single review. The developer would love to get the publicity, I'm sure. As already stated, you delete it, or considering that it is clearly labeled as containing crude humor, not download it in the first place. Go back to the app store and give it a review if you like.
Personally, I'm more offended by the knee-jerk push to censor than the app itself.

  • Is there log on Vista which could give me clues what has happened before freezing of Vista ?

    Hi,
    I have a Lenovo 3000 Y200 with Vista SP1.
I upgraded to SP1 a week ago, and since then I get the following:
After the laptop is left without user interaction for a few hours, I come to a blank screen, and the OS is frozen (though the three LEDs in the bottom are lighted).
Only option is electrical power off/on.
Is there a log file on the system which could give me clues what has happened before this freezing of the Vista ?
    Thanks,
    Ron.

    Hello,
simply fill in Vista searchbar at start: Event Viewer
Or go to start, control panel, computer administration, there should be the event manager.
