Clear Form button on Acrobat Reader

Just wanted to find out if there has been an update for the Acrobat Reader latest version for the IPAD for a Form that opens on Your IPAD. Your Submit button works, but the Clear Form button will not work on an IPAD. Are you able to tell me when this might be done for the IPAD. It is a crucial button needed on Forms that are opened on an IPAD.

Here's a recent discussion about this, with some input by someone from Adobe: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1356621

  • How to use Acrobat 9 standard to create a PDF form that an Acrobat reader can save

    Hi,
    I'm evaluating Acrobat 9 standard edition. I want to create a PDF with a form that allow Acrobat Reader users to fill in the form and save to their local machine.
    I looked at "Can I save a filled out PDF form using the free Adobe Reader? "
    However, it refers to version 8 and has a link to another page that states to look in Acrobat 8 help. Well I can't anything for how to create right-enable PDF in the help.
    How can I do this in Acrobat 9?
    Thanks.

    I think that the right's enabling was added to AA9 Std. It was not part of AA8 Std as far as I know. However, you need to read the restrictions on the use of the reader rights. There is a 500 form use limit. If you exceed that limit you are supposed to contact Adobe for negotiations for further use. I do not think those restrictions have changed with AA9, but read the EULA to check it out.

  • Ipad form ....help needed please.  Clear form after email as read only and sequential numbering

    Hi
    i am a complete novice at this however this is what I want to achieve.
    i Have a paper duplicate report sheet that I want to get electronically, I want to be able to add sequential numbers to each report and be able to email the report to the client from a email field in the form
    so far I have so I have created the pdf form, I have a button that runs a JavaScript that will hide the submit button and then send to the clients email and to bcc myself so I have a copy of the report also. This has been tested and works
    i Am struggling with sequential numbering and once the form has been emailed it's un-ditable as the JavaScript has converted it to read only for emailing which is good as it can't be edited. But Is there a way on my submit button to email the report as read only and then clear all form fields in the report ready for filling with the next sequential number?
    I Have had a good look sound for a resolution to this but am struggling
    many thanks in advance for any feedback
    paul

    Hi Paul,
    I presume that you are using the desktop version of Acrobat Pro to author the form.
    I will move this discussion to the PDF Forms forum so that the experts in the forum can answer your question.
    Please note that the Reader/Acrobat DC mobile apps (for iOS, Android, Windows Phone, etc.) have limited JavaScript support.
    JavaScript for Reader Mobile API Reference (iOS)
    You may be able to make the form work as you want in the desktop version of Adobe Reader/Acrobat Reader DC.  However, some functionality (e.g adding a sequence number to each PDF) will not work in the mobile apps due to the limited JavaScript support.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • Help me configure my webserver to accept completed .pdf forms via free Acrobat Reader

    OK, just purchased Acrobat Pro XI subscription, I have already created the following .pdf at the link below:
    http://www.pdfdoctor.net/eca/creditapp004_02.pdf
    on the last page I have a Submit button, that will send/upload the completed .pdf to my web server, the .pdf is working fine, I just need help configuring my server to accept the file submissions itself, such as the following:
    1. what should be the directory file permissions?
    2. do I need a htaccess file in that directory or in my main root directory and what should be in it, I HAVE NO IDEA, once I get this working then I will be set, please help, thankyou.

    Submitting in HTML format is useful if you're only interested in the form data, but since your form includes digital signature fields, you will want to submit the entire PDF. Using multiple digital signature fields intended for different signers doesn't make much sense for a web form, unless you intend to serve a form that was signed by one person to then be signed by another.
    If submitting the entire PDF, the script can save the entire incoming POSTed data to a file somewhere, in addition to all of the security-related things it needs to handle, and then return a response. As mentioned earlier, it is usually best if this response is an FDF. Here's a link to an introduction to some of the basic concepts: Working with Form Data in Acrobat X | Acrobat Community TV | Adobe TV
    starting at the 9:50 mark. It deals with submitting in HTML format, but it should get you started.

  • Submitted form emtpy under Acrobat Reader 9 (Mac OS X only)

    Hi
    I have a problem sending a form by a submit button (also by scripting) to a webserver. I'd like to submit the form as a PDF (not FDF or anything else).
    I either used a submit button or code like below:
    > this.submitForm({ cURL: "sample.org/inbox", cSubmitAs: "PDF"});
    The submit itself seems to work fine, but the submitted form is not posted as a document, but only the request with empty body is sent.
    b This only happens on Adobe Reader 9 on Mac OS X!
    The same document sent on a Windows Adobe Reader 8/9 works fine and sends the entire document.
    This thread is related to http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b6abf5, but I now realized the problem appears only under Mac OS X and not under Windows.
    Did anybody make similar experiences or has a solution for the problem? Is it maybe a security thing?
    Thanks in advance
    Daniel

    Hi Onewizard,
    I tried and checked this on different version of Acrobat and Reader however not able to replicate this behavior. I am on MAC 10.6.8

  • PDF barcode form input in Acrobat Reader

    I have tried to create a barcode form by using the acrobat professional XI, all user input will be rendered into a QR code in the PDF form.
    Problem now is:
    If i distribute this barcode form to user without Acrobat Professional XI (i.e. they may be using Adobe Reader X to input the form), the barcode cannot be generated base on the user input and disappear.
    Any idea how to resolve this or any configuration need to be done?

    You need LiveCycle to apply the extended rights for barcoded forms

  • Indesign CS4 button flashes after exported to PDF and viewed in Acrobat Reader/Professional X

    Hey everyone,
    Greetings!
    I've encountered this odd problem when preparing my portfolio.
    I've created some 40 buttons in InDesign CS4 (all according to the official tutorial) to Show/Hide Fields (specificly images), and navigate through the pages.
    The buttons all have their own Normal and Rollover states, but no Click states.
    After exporting the file to PDF, I tested the buttons in Acrobat Reader 9 and Acrobat Pro 9, and both the actions and the states worked fine.
    BUT that's not the case with Acrobat Reader X or Acrobat Pro X.
    The actions are still there, showing the images and navigating, but the states are not!
    The buttons' rollover states just flashes when the mouse hover above them, and even in Normal state, they kept *blinking* randomly.
    Frustrated for a week.
    PS. I suspected and used a Indesign file with only one simple button to rule out the following:
    1. Overlapping buttons
    2. Slow processing due to large image size
    3. Mishandling of transparency
    At this moment I'm pretty sure it's an Acrobat thing...Help!

    Thanks Dave! I was in the middle of writing this when your post came in:
    Not sure if this will help anyone, but I changed the button fill color to white and it seemed to fix the flicker. I exported each state from indesign as a PDF and recreated the button from scratch. This still had the flicker. I'm guessing something strange is happening with the transparancy of the states.
    Glad to hear it's fixed!

  • Configure Acrobat Reader tool buttons when Reader is started inside SAP GUI

    Hi,
    we have deployed some registry keys in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\AVGerneral\cToolbars" to show some tool buttons in Acrobat Reader. This works fine when starting Acrobat Reader as standalone application.
    But in SAP GUI the Acrobat Reader starts with default tool buttons.
    Is there a chance to configure the Acrobat Reader tool buttons when the Reader is started inside a SAP GUI session?
    thanks
    Albert

    These are the settings in the registry to show/hide tools in the Adobe Reader 9 toolbar.
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\AVGeneral\cToolbars\cBasicTools\cInternalButtons]
    "a0"="Select"
    "a1"="Hand"
    "a2"="Zoomin"
    "a3"="ZoomDrag"
    "a4"="endBasicToolsGroup"
    "a5"="ZoomViewOut"
    "a6"="ZoomViewIn"
    "a7"="ZoomTo"
    "a8"="Zoom100"
    "a9"="FitWidth"
    "a10"="FitPage"
    "a11"="endZoomTypeGroup"
    "a12"="PanAndZoom"
    "a13"="Loupe"
    "a14"="SelectGraphics"
    "a15"="endZoomToolsGroup"
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\AVGeneral\cToolbars\cCommenting\cStamp]
    "bInternalExpanded"=dword:00000001
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\AVGeneral\cToolbars\cFile\cInternalButtons]
    "a1"="Print"
    "a2"="Save"
    "a3"="SaveFileAs"
    "a4"="FindDialog"
    "a5"="endDialogGroup"
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\AVGeneral\cToolbars\cPageDisplay\cInternalButtons]
    "a0"="endLayoutZoomTypeGroup"
    "a1"="Fullscreen"
    "a2"="endPageLayoutViewGroup"
    "a3"="RotateCCW"
    "a4"="RotateCW"
    "a5"="Wireframe"
    When starting Adobe Reader standalone this works fine.
    But starting Adobe Reader from a SAP GUI Session (for example in transaction CV03N) the default tools will be shown.
    Is there a chance to configure the Acrobat Reader tool buttons when the Reader is started inside a SAP GUI session?
    thanks

  • Acrobat Reader X / 10 - javascript console problem / crash

    Hi,
    I develop adobe interactive forms and need javascript console badly!
    My system:
    Windows XP Prof.
    Acrobat Reader 10 (free)
    Internet Explorer 8
    Adobe Livecycle Designer ES 9 (latest version)
    The javascript console works just fine if I start an adobe form "native" = with Acrobat Reader X directly.
    But if I use Adobe Livecycle Designer (latest version) [the issue also described here], the console just crashes / disappears right after it started.
    The same happens if I open the pdf-file (adobe interactive form) with Internet Explorer.
    E.G:
    - When using Acrobat Reader "native":
                 console will open up on javascript syntax errors or by klicking a button (   javascript = console.show();    )
    -  When using Internet Explorer or Adobe Livecycle Designer:
                  the same pdf file cannot view the javascript console. it just "disappears immideatly" / crashes
    There is any technical support for Acrobat Reader expect this forum - so I was told when I called adobe hotline.
    I hope anyone could actually help me here.

    Hi,
    Don't open the console just the reader application. and then open the console from your script as you do.
    I have noticed in the past that sometimes the console appears for a very short period of time and then vanishes and this appears to be caused by the console window being associated with the open Adobe Reader application ( when it has no documents open) rather than the open PDF file in the preview or browser.
    Just a thought

  • IDCS3 How to convert checkbox into form button in PDF?

    I have an InDesign CS3 document that has lots of text checkboxes next to items in a list.
    I would like to be able to export this doc as PDF and have those checkboxes turned into form buttons that the reader can toggle on or off to indicate items that the reader owns.
    Then the reader could print the PDF and they would have a nice neat record of their items.
    At present I don't need to have these PDF forms returned electronically or tallied or anything. The idea is just to use the PDF as a personal inventory.
    So I'm hoping there's some easy way to globally replace my text-based checkboxes in IDCS3 with buttons that look the same but which will be recognized properly by Acrobat as interactive objects the state of which can be toggled with a click.
    I've tried reading all the help files and searching these forums, but can't figure out how to do this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    You cannot do this in InDesign.
    However, you can export a PDF file and open it in Acrobat 8 Professional or Acrobat 9 Pro. Then you can use the Form Field Recognition feature (Forms menu) in Acrobat 8 or Start Form Wizard in Acrobat 9 Pro.

  • In Acrobat, I wrote a script to turn fields gray if a checkbox was checked. How can I get it to reset to white (or clear) when the reset form button is clicked?

    In Acrobat, I wrote a script to turn fields gray if a checkbox was checked. How can I get it to reset to white (or clear) when the reset form button is clicked?

    Thank you so much for your reply . . . but . . . I should have shared my original script with you -- it was a little more complicated than I led you to believer. I was triggering a group of text fields to become disabled as well as gray. Below is the original script so that when the checkbox is checked, it causes several "Co" fields to be disabled and gray.
    // Mouse Up script for check box
    // If checked, certain fields should be disabled
    var f_prefix = "Co";
    // Get a reference to all of the "Co" fields
    var f = getField(f_prefix);
    // Reset the Co fields
    resetForm([f_prefix]);
    if (event.target.value === "Off") {
        // Enable the Co fields
        f.readonly = false;
        f.fillColor = color.transparent;
    } else {
        // Disable the Co fields
        f.readonly = true;
        f.fillColor = color.gray;
    To recap -- my goal is to get those gray fields to revert to transparent if the form is reset. I'm willing to create my own custom "Reset Form" button but I'm not sure I understand how that would look. Wouldn't it be quite lengthy? I think I'm having a brain freeze -- can't figure it out!

  • My submit button on my PDF form is greyed out (will not work) after posting link to PDF on my WordPress website. It works in Acrobat Reader just fine.

    This is where you can see the form as clicked through to from the WordPress website page:
    http://pinetreeplayers.com/ptp_new/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/submit-a-play.pdf
    The PDF file was created in Acrobat 11, with a submit button. The submit button is actioned to send the form via email. It works perfectly by itself if the form is opened in Acrobat Reader, but once I upload the PDF to my WordPress site the submit button is greyed out, and will not complete the action to send on-click.
    How can I fix this please - can anyone offer advice?

    Yes. They need to download Reader and then disable Google Chrome's internal PDF viewer and enable Adobe Reader.
    FireFox should also be configured to use Adobe Reader and not the internal PDF viewer.
    The internal viewers are created to process PDF documents by not including the features and code to process PDF forms.

    How can I clear a form after submitting and saving the data in the iOS Acrobat Reader App

    Darrell,
    Thanks for this response. After I posted mine, I saw that the resetForm JavaScript method is documented as being supported starting with version 10.5: http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Mobile/js.html
    But I haven't been able to get it to work. Can you clarify if support was indeed added and if it works for you?

  • Acrobat  CD Form Button Display incorrectly  when an effect  or transparency  is applied  Via indesign  Looks like a bug

    I have tested existing interactive pdfs that function perfectly in Acrobat XI and Adobe acrobat Reader but open the same files in Acrobat DC and Acrobat DC Reader and most of the documents i have designed and produces over last few years have been renderer useless
    Basically any interactive  form field wich uses  Effects,  Transparency  or  mode changes  like multiply  in every instance the  whole form element appear as a pixelated mess
    I have been posting  in an indesign Thread  https://forums.adobe.com/message/7427566#7427566  it contains  picture and a sample document
    Steve Werner has been helping  me   and has suggest  i post here too
    Graeme,
    I downloaded your PDF file. I have both Acrobat DC and Acrobat XI Pro and I can confirm that I view it the same way that you do.
    It clearly seems to be a bug. In the Acrobat beta group, most users are probably not InDesign users, and most of us who do use InDesign probably didn't create or test Show/Hide buttons using those forms of transparency. I'm sure it's not intentional, probably a side effect of some other change.
    It needs to be reported as a bug. I'd suggest using the Bug Report form here:
    Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form
    Also, there are several Acrobat forums. I'd suggest posting (if you haven't already) in the these two forums:
    Rich Media & 3D
    PDF Forms

    It's good that you'll be submitting a bug. This sort of thing has happened before, and I think it's related some to the fact that InDesign is capable of generating field appearances that you can't set up in Acrobat (transparency in particular).
