  • C3180 Photosmart All-in-one won't print. Gives message 'clear paper jam.' There is no paper jam.

C3180 Photosmart All-in-one won't print. Gives message  'clear paper jam.'  There is no paper jam.  About a month ago there was a paper jam, but was removed.  It worked fine since then until yesterday.  I've tried all the HP trouble-shooting suggestions- unplug, take apart, manually move carriage, etc. and nothing has solved the problem.  The paper does not advance...all that happens if I try to print is a lot of noise like carriage going back and forth and after a/b 1-2 minutes it will show the "red X" blinking on the printer and a message on the computer screen, "Clear paper jam."  When the problem first started yesterday the message was that the printer was "Out of paper."  I need to print a resume and this is just the wrong time for someone such as myself with little computer knowledge to try to figure it out.  Thanks for any suggestions!

    Hi there pattimessick,
You may not need to remove/re-add. Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03275041&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
It can fix a lot on its own (especially connectivity problems) and if not give a better idea of what is going on.

  • Hp photosmart all-in-one c 7280 will not print since clearing paper jam

Had my first paper jam in 2 1/2 years - cleared out the paper but now when trying to print documents they just back up and a check-mark appears by the default printer beside the word "error".   I right click on the printer icon; cancel the backed up documents and the word beside the check-mark changes to "Off-line".   I set the printer to On-line and the word beside the check-mark changes to  "Ready".
I then send another document for printing with the above scenario repeating itself.
I can make copies so am pretty sure the paper jam is cleared.  There's just no response to the Print command.
Will appreciate any help - john t

Running the diagnostics at http://www.hp.com/go/tools may help resolve the issue, specifically the Print Diagnostic Utility.
It may also help to reset the printer as described here.

  • Paper Jam error message due to broken gear on Officejet Pro 8500 all-in-one printer

3 year old HP Officejet Pro 8500 all-in-one printer (haven't used it much). Keeps telling "Paper Jam" although there is no paper jammed anywhere (searched meticulously with a flashlight after watching HP's tutorial videos on how to clear paper jams). I started searching on the Internet and found a couple of related videos on Youtube that pointed me in the right direction:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMFW1RRlDHEhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwbF2Vs_0gQ  I could hear a clicking noise on that area of the printer each time I turned it on, so I carefully took the black cap apart that was hidding the gear, and confirmed I had the same problem as in the youtube videos above. See picture below showing the white plastic gear part that has a large crack which causes the Paper Jam error message and renders the printer unusable. After Googling a little bit, seems like a relatively common issue and wonder why such a part like that is not made of a stronger material like metal (planned obsolescence maybe?). Does anybody know if there is a way of replacing the broken gear?  (I really care for the environment and I would like to avoid having to throw the relatively new and expensive all-in-way printer away) Thanks a lot in advance for the advice!

Hey ,  Thanks for posting in the HP Support Forum.  I do see that a cracked gear in your HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-in-One Printer is impeding all functionality.  I would like to help you with this but that particular part is not replaceable.  I recommend you reach out to our tech support team to find out what servicing options you have available. • Trouble shooting paper jam

Any one that can assist, will be  appreciated
Printer when printing in "fast print"  option was jammed. I openned the back  panel and pulled out paper that was jammed. Now printer stayed in  the same loop of asking to take out paper jamm and press "ok".
When ok is pressed  it makes some noises but goes back to where it was. Clear paper Jam.
Tried turning power button off, but it doesnt turn off.
When electrical cable is desconnected to force  power off, it returns to the same  message of requiring to clean the papaer jam.
I havent been able to get the printer out of this loop even though it has no physical ramains of paper jam.
Anyone has a solution for this?
    Tony

Please read this post then provide some details. What printer model?

  • C5550 -How do I reset a persistant "Clear paper Jamm" error mesage?

    Hi,
I have a photosmart c5550 all in one printer. I had a paper jam and cleared it using the instructions from the user manual. I have actually done this several times now, and am absolutely sure that there is no paper jam at this point in time. The printer resets to the "clear paper jam" error state on power up. I would like to know the procedure to do a hard system reset, to reset the printer. The reset procedure of removoing the power cord does nothing to clear this persistant error. Does anyone know the proper procedure to do a hard reset?
    Thanks,
    Phil

  • HP 1350 Paper Jam

My HP 1350 All in one printer will not print documents that in the queue due to a paper jam so it says.
I have checked for a paper jam and none exists. I have cleaned all the roller. Test page will print by
pressing Cancel then Copy color and releasing together. Coping from the flatbed also works.

    Hi there stiegmann,
This article has steps for clearing paper jams. Give the steps outlined a shot and let us know if it helps. Since you cannot readily find a paper jam pay special attention to the section where it details cleaning the rollers.

  • Print message print cartridge cannot move because of paper jam but the paper jam has been cleared.

My Envy 4502 printer message window says that the print cartridge cannot move and to clear any paper jam obstruction.  There was a paper jam and I cleared it but the message "the print cartridge cannot move and to clear any paper jam obstruction" remains there and I cannot remove it or get the printer to print.  I tried everythng listed in the troubleshooting section of the help guide in the software.  I uninstalled the printer and then reinstalled it which didn't help  in the slightest--the message about the print cartridge is still there.  I also tried unplugging the printer overnight (to try to clear the memory)  and this also did not help--that message is still there.  By the way, I can easily move the printer cartridge by hand and I can hear the cartridge moving when the printer attempts to work.  I would appreciate any help from anyone to get my printer to  work again!

  • Clearing inaccessible paper jam on OfficeJet 8500

After printing no more than 20 pages on my new OfficeJet 8500 Wifi printer, the paper jammed. I have tried to clear the jam but have not yet succeeded.
Here are details of my problem:
My printed page almost finished feeding out from the printer, but the very end of it is stuck between the rollers. This means that - after removing the ADF - I cannot reach the paper at the back of the printer to pull it out backwards. Since the advice is NOT to pull it forwards, what do I do?
No error message displayed. This worried me!
    Any advice please?
Unfortunately the help page I consulted from HP does not explain how to clear the jam I have. (See "HP Officejet Pro 8500 Premier (A909n) and 8500 Wireless (A909g) All-in-One Printers - 'Paper Jam' Message Displays on the All-in-One" http://h200003.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c01617494&lang=fr&cc=fr&task...

Is it possible to reach inside with long nose pliers or something like that to pull it out from the back? Maybe work it out sideways? Or can you print something that would go through and hopefully dislodge that piece of paper?

  • The print carriage will not move even after the paper jam has been cleared

I had a paper jam this morning and cleared it out completely.  I keep getting a message on my HP ENVY 4500 that says the print carriage cannot move.  Open the ink cartridge access door, clear any paper jam or obstruction, ensure ink cartridge levers are lower and snapped.
