Clear suggested email addresses iphone

Whenever I enter a specific email address, the autocomplete feature of my iphone suggest some email addresses starting with the same letter(s). One of them has meanwhile been changed, but still appears in the suggested list. I went through my imac Addressbook and my Gmail accounts. Changed that address there also and made sure that specific email address wasn't mentioned anywhere. Then I synched my iphone again. But still, when I start typing the new email address of that person, his old email address still appears in the suggested email address list. I also cleared the previous recepients list on Apple Mail on my iMac and synched again. Nothing helps. How do I clear the previous recepients list/cache on my iphone?

There is only one way to remove this data from your phone: Restore the phone as a new device in iTunes, thus erasing all data on the phone, including this email cache. You follow this by syncing your iTunes content back to the phone.
You have to decide if its worth going through this or just living with it.

  • How do I remove a suggested email address on iPhone when the suggestioned address DOESN'T have a blue i next to it?

I want to remove some email addresses from the list of suggested email addresses which appear in iPhone's Mail app.
All of the ways I've found so far to remove suggested email addresses involve clicking on a blue arrow or i next to the suggested name. However, the suggestion(s) I want to remove have nothing on which to click. How can suggested addresses be removed without something to click?

Here's the solution (it's what you suggested):
If the old email address is in the contacts no blue circle i  appears. The blue circle indicates it is in recent but not in contacts.
    You need two step procedure:
    1. remove email from contacts (try doing a Search for it if necessary);
    2.  and then remove from recent by starting a new email, starting to enter email address (which brings up the Recent suggestions), then click on the blue circle i (which should now be there because you removed email address from Contacts), select Remove from Recent).

  • Can someone please help me figure out how to "clear" recent email addresses used in Mail?

Can someone please help me figure out how to “clear” recent email addresses used in Mail?  For example, as I begin typing a name/email address in the “To:” field, Mail begins suggesting addresses that I’ve previously used.  I don’t want any suggestions unless they are in my contacts.
Another example:  When using MS Outlook, it will also remember and suggest email accounts previously used, but I can arrow down and delete an account from the list so it won’t automatically popup or suggest in the future.
I appreciate any guidance in this matter.

The iOS email app stores all email recipients in a list of previous recipients which cannot be turned off. The email address autofill feature when addressing an email pulls from contacts and from the list of previous recipients which can't be prevented. There is no option to clear the list of previous recipients - not at the present time anyway.
If you don't want any suggestions, select from contacts instead when addressing an email.

  • Can you delete "suggested" email addresses?

For some reason, my iPad has memorized some email addresses I don't which to have populated in the drop-down suggested email addresses (i.e. in the address field in mail, when I start typing Smi... I get 3 Smiths even though only one is in my address book.
I've checked on my Mac (to which the iPad is synced) and the unwanted Smiths are no where to be found -- not in my Address Book. Also on my Mac in Mail I've clicked on Window>previous recipients and made sure the unwanted addresses aren't there either. (Also on my Mac these unwanted Smiths do not show up as suggestions the way they do on my 'pad).
On the iPad I can't determine any way to delete them. Any ideas?

As with the Mail.app on your Mac, the iPad's Mail application stores all message recipients in a previous recipients list. The auto-fill feature when addressing a message draws from the address book and from the list of previous recipients. Different from the Mail.app on your Mac, there is not a way to access the list of previous recipients with the iPad's Mail application to add a previous recipient to the address book if not already entered, or remove a previous recipient from the list - not at the present time anyway.
Although the list of previous recipients is included with the backup that is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process, the list of previous recipients is not synced with the list of previous recipients with the Mail.app on your Mac.
The same applies with the iPhone and the iPad Touch at the present time. Hopefully this will be included with firmware update 4.0.

  • Clearing old emails addresses on iPhone

Is there any method to clear old or incorrect email addresses to prevent them from popping up in auto fill?

Thank you but that isn't what I meant. When I write an email on my iphone, several email address for the same person will pop up while I know only one is still good.  It's no longer in my address book but continues to show up.  After more investigating, I found out that prior to version 7, there isn't any way to delete old email addresses unless you reset the phone. With version 7, there is a button next to any email addresses that may pop up that are no longer relavent.  If you click on the button, an option is to delete it. You can also create a contact using it if wanted.  So, I appreciate your help. Maybe my research helped you out!

  • Clear cached email addresses from an iphone

Has a solution been found which will allow clearing the cached email address entries on an iproduct? Deleting contacts, addresses and rebooting the device doesn't work. Restoring the device should not be the only solution as many business users don't know the first thing about iTunes or syncing thus most enterprise devices have never been sync'd. Thank to anyone with some help

No, there is no other way to delete them. Sorry.

So every time I get or send an email the iphone remembers that email address. Every time I type in an address every address I have ever sent an email to pops up as an available option. How can I clear these tons of email addresses from the memory since I have all of the ones I need in my address book?

Nobody has any insight? Even anything like resetting some aspect of the phone?

  • Deleting auto suggest email address

PLEASE let me know how to delete erroneous email auto suggest addresses on iPad.

I use Gmail and found (after doing more research) that the Iphone was pulling contact information from my Gmail account as well as from the iPhone/iPad contact list.  (This makes sense when you consider that when writing an email on the Iphone, the email shows up on-line in the Gmail account)
I rarely use Gmail on the Internet (as I use Outlook on my PC) and it never occured to me that this was the problem.  I decided to look at my contacts listed in Gmail and found the same email addresses being auto-suggested.
After I deleted those contacts and went back to my iPhone/iPad, I verified that the email addresses were no longer being auto-suggested.  It worked!
I don't know if this is also true for Yahoo, AOL, etc.  If it is, then all you will need to do is clean up the contacts in these accounts and the addresses should no longer be suggested.
    Good Luck!

  • When I type in the email address I want to send an email to, mail suggests email addresses i never use

I am using Apple's Mail application on my MacBook Pro for 3 emails. One personal, one for my work place and one for my university email address. From the university I receive lots of emails which isn't sent only for me, but every student on my course, so I am not the only receiver.
When I am sending an email, from any of my email addresses and I type in whom I want to send it to, it shows a bunch of email addresses that I have never sent an email to. They are all university email addresses and I want to get rid of them, but they are not in my address book and I have no clue how to delete them / where to find them.
For example: I wanted to send an email from my work place email to James Fox. He's email is [email protected] (just an example). When I start to type in James.f,   about 100 email addresses pop up, but none of them is the one I need and I will never need those and I CANT GET RID OF THEM.
Please help me, how to get rid of all these unwan

How is the university account added to your system? (You should be able to find it in either System Preferences - Internet Accounts, or Mail - Preferences). Is it an Exchange account, perhaps? I wonder if you're seeing a centralized contact group that can't be controlled from your computer (but you may be able to turn it off completely).

  • How do I clear an email address that downloaded when I synced my phone

All of my email addresses transferred from my yahoo account, but I don't want them all and can't seem to figure out how to delete them. Can someone help me before I print the 132 page users guide??

you choose which email accounts are sync'd to the phone from the "Info" tab in iTunes when you're phone is connected.
To delete accounts, go to Settings->Mail then select the account you want to delete and choose the "Delete account" in red on the bottom.

  • Deleting suggested email addresses in iOS8

How to remove recent and other email addresses from the “To” field in Mail app in iOS8

I have have confirmed that this is how it is working for me (confirmed by deleting an old contact). You may want to have a closer look at your Contacts list (make sure you aren't filtering out any groups on the list, for example)
You might try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset. Not sure that would have any impact, however.

  • Why can I not clear previous email addresses?

I accidentally tried to login to my Amazon account with [email protected] instead of [email protected] Now when I use the Amazon login page and start typing ken etc it displays both the incorrect and correct email addresses in the drop down. However, if I select the correct one it replaces it with the incorrect one because it is at the top of the list!
    Any ideas please?
    Ken

I had tried that, but it would not delete it.
I have solved the problem now as I found the 'Stored emails' in the Options section.
    Many thanks though.
