I noticed a clear white spot on my ipod 4G after a few days of purchase. It can only be seen on white, or any other light color backgrounds. The white spot is expanding too. I'm not sure what it is and how i got it. will apple fix or replace it? here's a picture i found on google that looks like my ipod's screen: https://sites.google.com/site/ltechprojects/pacturescreendamage your time is well appreciated.

You need to take the iPod to an Apple store or Apple certified repair shop.
We have no way of knowing whether or not Apple will repair or replace.

  • My ipod touch 4g, has a white spot on the screen when you turn it on, what is that and how do I fix it?

When you turn the ipod on, there is a noticeable white spot on the screen/display. Once all the apps come on you can't see it, but when it starts up you can.

From you descriptionis is hard to tell if it a atain on the outside of the screen or just what.  Have you tried cleaning the screeen as said in the users guide:
    Cleaning iPod touch
Clean iPod touch immediately if it comes in contact with any contaminants that may cause stains,
such as ink, dyes, makeup, dirt, food, oils, or lotions. To clean iPod touch, disconnect all cables and
turn off iPod touch (press and hold the On/Off button, then slide the onscreen slider). Then use a
soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid getting moisture in openings. Don’t use window cleaners,
household cleaners, compressed air, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to
clean iPod touch. Rubbing the screen with an abrasive material may scratch the glass.

    Ardha,
Welcome to the forum.  White spots on the LCD, typically a bright white spot most clearly seen against a white background like the forum, or google home page, is caused by pressure damage - pressure applied to back of the LCD panel.
Since you indicated that you have only had the system 1 day, unless you are aware of something that happened while in your care, I can only guess that the damage was done during transport or manufacturing.  I would recommend you contact your point of purchase and ask to exchange the unit.  I would also try to power up and inspect the new system immediately to make sure all is well.
Please also see my PM - I would like you to take a pic of the spot and email to me if possible.  While random things happen, I'd like us to take a look at this.
    Best regards,
    Mark

  • Bright white spots on the screen?

Hey guys, my iPhone has developed these two bright white spots on the screen. I don't think it's a hardware problem because they are not there for every application. But I have tried restarting it, completely resetting it, etc with no success. The problem is I bought in July 2007 so my warranty is up. Am I screwed?

You can also look at LCD replacement from outside repair companies like iResQ.com. If you're not sure what's going on with the spots, you can also get a diagnosis within 24 hours from them before you decide to repair or resell. Replacement can be had for $130, back to you the day after receiving your order. Also, their techs are Apple-certified. Check it out if you're still having problems:

  • I have a small white spot on my screen

I have a macbook air which i bought in april.  It works great but i notice it there is a small white spot on the screen that is very annoying.  It's not visual when I'm playing a game or wtching a video because there is a dark screen behind it.  When there is a light screen in front of it it's there.  It's annoying.

Your Mac has a 1-year warranty.  If this is a hardware problem in the display (and it sounds like it is) they will fix it for free.

  • White spots on iPhone screen

3 months ago, I bought the Apple iPhone 4s via Three UK. It was a brand new contract phone.
About a week ago, the phone developed a bright white spot in the middle of the screen, white is very noticeable.I had not dropped the phone at all. Then, a few days ago, another bigger but not as bright dot appeared on the screen. What is this and how can it be fixed? I believe the iPhone is in its warranty, but I'm not sure what the problem is.
    Thanks in advance,
    bainb8248

So I am currently facing the same issue on my brand new iPhone 6. When I unboxed it and was setting it up I noticed a fairly big white spot near the upper edge of the screen. The size actually reduced down to pixel width by the next day. So this might happen in your case in another days time (maybe). If it does its the exact same issue!
Currently my phone is at the service center and they're having a look ... Suggest you should get it checked as well

  • White spot on the screen

I have an ipad mini, has a white spot that is very noticeable, but how are letters in spots, this disappears , what i can do?
    Translated with google translator

With a lot of time spent waiting on hold for a tech support person (I literally timed 47 minutes before speaking to someone) and some very direct answers, my powerbook screen was replaced BUT the hinges are now missaligned. ITS ALWAYS SOMETHING LATELY. I never had a problem with my 1.25ghz PowerBook and it seems as APPLE is making a commercial leap, what was once high end is just mediocre moderate end junk. Though they did fix the screen, I had to purchase AppleCare and urge anyone who is in the time frame where this is an option to do the same.
    TIPS
Clock your hold time. there is no excuse for me to wait that long to be put on hold and then transferred after my first attempt was dropped ON THEIR END as I was calling from an analogue landline.

  • Bios Update for G400s Touch/ White spot on the screen

When will be released g400s touch's new bios? G400s already have the update. That is incompatible with my machine.
Recently, appeared a white spot on my device screen. It's small, but it's bothering me since the notebook only has 1 year of use. The warranty covers?

That sounds like a stuck pixel, usually has to be more than one to be a warranty issue. Contact Lenovo Support to verify your warranty status and determine if your warranty will cover dead pixels and how many would trigger screen replacement.
    Good luck.

  • A lot white spots in LCD screen Mac Pro

    Hi,
I just bought mac pro 13-inch online directly from apple for only about 4 month, and today I found a lot white spots in the top left screen, it really make me fell unease, can apple replace the LCD?  Thanks.

Yes, Apple can replace it. You've a one-year warranty - three years if you purchased AppleCare. Take your machine into your local Apple Store or an AASP and have them take a look at it.
    Good luck,

  • Appeared white spot on the screen of ipad mini. What can i do?

A white spot was appeared on my ipad mini screen? Please help

It's under warranty for one year from the day you bought it.
It was released on Nov. 2, 2012. If you bought it that day, you are 8 days out of warranty. If you bought it after Nov.10, 2012, you are under warranty (as of today.  Apple should have the sale date if you give them your serial number. If you have the receipt, use that.
Either way, you should check with Apple and they should give you a new one (original) as a replacement. If you're near a store, make an appointment as soon as possible with the genius bar and bring it in.
Please do it as soon as possible.
    Hope this helps.

  • White spots on the screen

Yesterday, I opened my Mac for the first time in a while and it was REALLY dusty so I sprayed it down with some canned air. I also replaced the second internal drive. Once I got the computer back up and running, I noticed there were little white spots on the desktop. Sometimes they are gray or red as well. The spots stay there until you move a window in front of them or a selection box around them. They sometimes appear in other programs, most notably DVD Player. Otherwise the computer is running fine. I'm worried that I sprayed dust into something or knocked something loose. Where should I start looking for problems? Apple's Hardware Test showed no hardware problems. Here's a screen grab of the issue:

    Thanks,
    Renny

If anybody's reading this in the future, DP's advice definitely worked. I hadn't removed the video card originally. When I did, I noticed that it had so much dust in it that the fan wasn't able to operate. Embarrassing. Anyways, I cleaned it out and now the computer's running smoothly. A lot quieter too!

  • White spot on the screen Ipad 4th gen

Hello. On Christmas get the new iPad, till today 7/1/13 ipad was in original silicon packing that it came in, today get apple case and bought zagg shield, right before installing get off original packing cleaning the dust saw a white spot, firstly thought i was a scratch but then ran spotter app and realized that on some colours I can see it. Now im looking only on that spot and its annoy me.

The iPad is built as a solid unit and as such they would need to replace the whole unit (not just the glass). Engraving is only available through the Apple online store and as such, the replacement would not be engraved.
I have heard of AppleCare phone support being able to organise engraved replacements in rare circumstances but the wait times are around 4 weeks.

  • Has anyone tried putting on clear packing tape on ipod screens?

Well I did a terrible thing today and put my ipod in the same pocket as my keys.:( ouch... the screen looked horrendous. Well when i got home I thaught of a way of protecting it even though it was to late. I used this clear Packing tape that was lying around and It looked fine. Does anyone know if their will be glue or anything left on it if I take it off?

well i've tried doing that and no I does not leave any kind of glue or anything but eventually the clear packing tape will come off; it did on mines and my sisters and then I bought this http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/71302/wo/3I5wY69 ELoIC3Vqv8ZT1vCdmILd/1.0.19.1.0.8.25.7.11.1.3 and it protects very well no scractes yet on my iPod.

  • White spot on screen

Hey! I got a problem.. When I press the home button a white spot appears on my screen, like a blur. And desapears in 2 seconds. My iphone has never crashed or had contact with water. What should I do?

I have the same issue as the people above. I don't have extended warranty and my serial number is not in the recall list.
The white spots on my screen are exactly like the ones in the listed serial numbers.
I tried calling Applecare and they told me there was nothing I could do about it since my warranty expired already, but they told me to take it down to a authorized repair center to look at it. When I brought it in, they told me they couldn't service it because Apple needs to approve it first, but they did confirm that the white spots were exactly the same as the old G4's on the recall list. I then went home and called Applecare again, and the service rep this time sent me over to a display/powerbook specialist/engineer. He then tells me I can't service this as it's not under warranty any longer.
Do you think we need to create a class action suit for this to be escalated again?

  • What are the white spots that are showing up on screen?

I have a mid 2009 unibody and have noticed recently that I have 2 white spots on the screen. One is almost centered and the other is half way up on the rigth hand side. They are only noticiable on light backgrounds. I can also see on at the bottom right starting. It is very faint, but still shows on a white background.
I am out of warrenty so I'm wondering how much it might cost to fix, or if it is just something that I can live with and the problem won't get worse.

    Dick,
To be honest I don't know what program they are related to. However If the files are located in ~/Library/Preferences (Where is ~ = your home directory) Then You should be safe in moving/deleting them, at worst you will have to reset the settings in one of your apps. What that folder is mainly used for is say for example you have your dock show/hide it self. That will be saved to a plist file in the preferences folder. If you delete or move the dock's plist out of there your dock on your next login will go back to the default view of Mac OS.
Now To be honest you don't have to move/delete those files that are there, especially since at most you will probably reset some of the preferences you set in an application. But its up to you. Also you could always move it first to see what app it is and either move it back or delete it later.
    Hope that helps,
    Weston
