I use my BB browser for buying stuff of the internet. As added protection I log out faithfully and clear my browser cache operations and history constantly. I've also unenabled push content on my Browser push. When I go to a website, after I've cleared every thing, the home page comes up with my country !!!!! How can this company still know where I'm from if all history and caches have cleared from my browser and I should be starting with a clean slate ? How can Big Brother still be watching me... ?

Since you already tried the clear Cache and Youtube cookie trick.
Try making the youtube url as http'''s''':// if a youtube video is still giving the black screen.

Yes - I connected my phone to my computer / Itunes and went into the apps section, but from there I have no idea how to manage the push notifications. I even tryied going into itunes that is installed on my phone. I still cannot find anyplace to manage these popups. I have also gone into settings - notifiations - and tried turning all notifications for these apps all off but that didnt work either. Any guidance is MUCH appreciated - Im not sure where to go from here.

How do I backup web browser prefs, bookmarks, and cookies?

I've got the hang of backing up files to an external hard drive. Not too complicated.
This weekend I'm installing a new hard drive so I've got to rebuild my desktop from scratch and re-import all my files from my external drive.
I use Firefox and I'm loaded up with bookmarks, preferences, and cookies for all kinds of sites I visit like Amazon.
Can all this be backed up just like files and folders? How do I backup bookmarks, preferences? And can cookies even BE backed up? Or do I have to re-enter passwords and such to all these sites I visit and start from scratch?

Hi, John. I have no experience using SuperDuper to make anything but a bootable clone, so I can't advise you on the ins and outs of using sparseimages. The one thing I would caution you about is that a sparseimage combines everything that's included in it into a single file, and if that file somehow gets corrupted and won't open, the contents may all be lost.
The great advantage of a regular clone over any other backup method, even when you aren't going to clone it back to your internal drive, is that every file in the clone is exactly where it was on the original: you don't have to keep track of where to copy each file back to. Just drag-copy it from wherever it is on the clone to exactly the same place on the reconstructed-from-scratch internal drive. But in the four years I've been using OS X, I haven't tried the kind of manual, piece-by piece restoration of essential data from a backup that you're contemplating, and I don't know what obstacles you may run into. My guess is that incorrect permissions will figure largely in whatever trouble you encounter, but permissions are still a dark mystery to me: I'll be no help to anyone with a permissions problem.

Safari clearing history, website data, and cookies

I guess I'm trying to find out how to tell the developers of Yosemite to go backwards and allow us to clear history without losing all the website data and cookies. In Maverick, at the end of the day, I cleared my history, and it only cleared my browsing history; I didn't have to sign in again on all the sites I visit. Yosemite is working fine for me except for this one issue. I believe we users should have the option of clearing just the browsing history, and letting us choose to clear website data and cookies. Any ideas on this?

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

You should be able to copy iTunes purchases (which should include PDFs in the iBooks app even though they aren't purchases) off the iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases.
On Windows 7 your backup should be stored under :
\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
But without restoring onto a device you probably won't be able to make much sense of the backup files.
If you want to copy off photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer

Close the mail app and reset the iPad. Closing apps instructions are for iOS 7. If you're not running iOS 7, I assume that you know how to close apps in iOS 5 or 6. If you don't know how to close apps, just reset the iPad.
To close an app, drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

FB Crashing Browser Since History and Cookies Cleared?

Cleared my cookies and browsing history this morning. Since then, anytime I pull up a page at facebook.com in the browser, the blue loading bar stops at around 90 or 95 percent. The page will remain partially loaded - sometimes showing the page with unresponsive text fields and links, more recently just white and blank - for ten minutes or more. In this state, other tabs will likewise be unresponsive, sometimes having switched appearances with each other.
Hub works fine, FB included.

Why is script Chrome://global/content/bindings/browser.xml/244 and 245 not working?

POP Blocker is not blocking ADD's - Says add blocked... but the add opens in a new window! This started yesterday! Have checked all settings and they are OK even cleared all history cache and cookies.

It now seems that every page that comes up has works highlighted in blue.. if you scroll over them the add pops up. Click on a picture in an article and up pops an add in a separate window also.
Need help!

Firefox freezes when I clear recent hx even if cookies not selected

When I clear recent hx firefox freezes even when cookies are not selected. I had read in your support form that eliminating the cookies selection might prevent this but doesn't always work. Using Win XP w SP3 and all updates

* Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
* You need an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep that cookie, especially for secure websites and if you let cookies expire when Firefox closes
* Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"
You can let all cookies expire if you close Firefox and make an Allow exception for the ones that you want to keep.
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Keep until": "I close Firefox"

Push notifications and GPS not working on wifi - please help

Hi,
I have an iPhone 4 with at&t (US) and latest iOS. but I am outside the US for a month and I have put the phone in airplane mode so that I don't receive phone calls or texts (I can choose not to answer phone calls but apparently I will receive the texts no matter what unless I put it in airplane mode)
But I still use the iphone for everything else. I have the wi-fi on and I have my own wi-fi network where I'm staying.
but i'm having problems:
1. I do not get any push notifications on my iphone. I have not modified much from the default wifi router settings. all i have done is set a WPA TKIP password. all the other settings are the default. no port filter or firewalls on the router as far as i can see.
2. google maps is not able to pinpoint my location. I can see the maps fine. but when i hit the button to locate my position, it tries for a while and then says "cannot determine location".
3. after a while with the iphone in 'sleep mode' (i.e. the screen is off - the phone is not off), when I turn the screen back on and try the use the iphone with the wifi, the internet no longer works although it shows that it is connected to the wifi network. then I have to go to the settings on my iphone for the wifi network and hit 'renew lease' for the internet to work again on my iphone. this is really annoying....
.. and *I do not have any of these problems when I'm on anyone else's wifi network*. so, I'm guessing this has something to do with my personal wifi connection at home.
can someone help me figure this out?
the wi-fi router is an Aztech HW550-3G. and the broadband connection is from a WiMax internet modem.

Your problem is there is no record of where your base station is. Since you have airplane mode on your phone cannot use the gps receiver or the mobile network to pinpoint the location. For the location of the base station to be known it needs to be recorded in a database on the internet.
Instead of turning on airplane mode, remove the SIM from the iPhone. With airplane off and no SIM you will be able to use GPS but not make or receive phone calls and text. It may also update the location database with your base station location, but I cannot confirm it.

Update to iOS 4.2.1 deleted content and will not restore

I just updated my IPod touch to the latest software using the same computer that I always use my iPod with and all of my content was deleted. I tried restoring from my last backup, which seems to be from February, and even after restoring everything is still gone. I am primarily concerned with my Nike+ workout history and my playlists. Any advice?

- Were all the apps in the iTunes library? The iTunes backup does not inlcudd synced media like apps and music
- Was the restore successful, that is it went though all the steps without errors?
- Did anything get restored?
- Try restoring again.
