Clearing Contact list

How do I clear out the contact list in FaceTime? I backed up a contact list from Blackberry (5000 contacts) then switched to iphone4 loading the contacts on it. When I installed FaceTime on my Mac Pro the installation pulled all the contacts in. I only want to use FaceTime with half a dozen people.

If you're in recovery mode, all data is ALREADY lost. You've no choice but to restore.

Clearing Contacts list

Got an iPhone 4 yesterday, and paid too little attention when registering/syncing it.
My Mac's address book had large numbers of entries which are now totally irrelevant and which now appear in the Contacts on the iPhone.
I have (belatedly) tidied up the address book app, but I'm curious if there's some way to "bulk delete" on the iPhone.
If not, then I suppose it will have to be "Restore" and re-sync..

That will add updated contacts, sure - but there are a couple of hundred unwanted ones which aren't removed from the phone. I don't want to delete them one-by-one, and just hoped there was a way of selecting say a dozen at a time of consecutive entries and deleting them.

Hi everyone. When I go to type the address of an email I get as far as the first letter and a list of "recent" email addresses pops up, which is handy except for some reason the first one is a combination of two emails address, one I know and one I only vaguely recognise as possibly being a former student who might have been on a mailing list of mine at one time. This combo of emails addresses doesn't appear in my contact list or address book on its own, but since it shows up as I start typing my husband's email, I'm sure there has been a time or two where I've just selected it to autocomplete the address field, and ended up sending something probably embarrassingly personal to not just my husband but this other person as well. How do I go in and clear out my icloud's memory of past-sent emails? Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

When trying to clear the account I immediately changed my password, then ran a scan to clean the account. I went back in to the account and realized the contacts list had disappeared. Is there any way to retrieve it.

i saw the file, and clicked on it, they asked me which app should the pics be viewed in (since i didnt have iphoto) i clicked on aperture, and currently they are being imported, but its taking a lot of while, along with that annoying rainbow loading sign:( will all of them be imported?

You can't do it on the iPhone. You'll have to do it on your computer. Open Address Book. Go to Cards>Look for Duplicates. Delete those from there. You also might want to merge some info too. You can also merge them using the merge option under the Cards menu.

At the present time, the only way to clear that is to restore the phone as new. Perhaps a future iOS update will give us the option to clear that cache.

SkyDrive photos & contact list not showing in FF13

I have had FF for years & have been happy with it always until FF13 which has caused problems with my use of SkyDrive to share my photos. I have used SkyDrive for a long time too & never had issues until the recent FF13 update. I can use SKYDrive without any problems if I use IE as my browser but in FF13 some photos will not show in a slideshow unless you right-click & choose view original then a separate window opens for that one photo. It is random because if you start slideshow over it may be totally different photo(s) that will not show. Other thing that started since FF updated to 13 is that when I try to 'share' the slideshow my hotmail contacts list will no longer load although it will load if I switch to IE. This is clearly a problem related to FF13 since there is no problem in IE. I prefer to use FF but need it to work for SkyDrive. Please is there a patch for this or can you tell me what to do.

This is way too technical for me. I have no idea what that is nor do I feel comfortable fiddling with things I don't know anything about.
Thanks for your help but as I said in my last post I will use IE for sharing SkyDrive until the FF fix comes out.

Find feature no longer works on Contact List

When I tried to call a person from my contact list, I typed in the first letter of his last name and the only option that I have is to "Add Contact: (insert letter here)". I tried to use the same process for all letters and they all have the same outcome. see below for the steps in process. not insulting any one's intelligence, just making sure I'm clear on the process*. After trying all the letters in the [English] alphabet, I decided to try it again using process stated below, but after adding a brand new "dummy" contact. unfortunately it worked for the dummy contact but still not for the others. the only thing that I have not tried is to delete the facebook application which I believe is the cause. the only reason I have not deleted it is because my wife downloaded the facebook app with no problems.
The following is a complete list of the steps I have taken/
turned power off then back on.
Turned power off then removed battery, replaced after 5 minutes, turned power on, tried steps*
plugged blackberry into computer with blackberry desktop checked for updates.
If anybody knows of how I can fix this short of re-typing my whole list, I would greatly appreciate it.
* Process used;
click on contact list with trackball, type in letter of first or last name using keyboard.

For the past week or so I have had a problem loading addresses from my Hotmail contact list in the "To" bar. It doesn't happen in Internet Explorer

Problem is with Hotmail. Usually when I start to type an address which is in my contact list, it fills in automatically. Now I just get a circle going round and round. If I go to my contact list and select an address and click on "send e-mail" it goes initially, but disappears within a second or two. In order to send a message, I must type the whole e-mail address in the "to" box. This problem began about a week or so ago, and doesn't happen when I sign into Hotmail using Internet Explorer.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
1. Clear Firefox's Cache
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here (this will log you out of live.com)
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Receiving messages from people not in my contacts list

Hello, For the past week I have been receiving messages/calls from people who are not in my contact list.My security settings clearly were set to only allow contacts from my list only to message and call me.Why is this happening?It's kind of annoying and I would like this matter rectified. Thanks,

How do I delete a Contact List?

I added a Hotmail account to my phone some time ago, and for some reason it imported all the contacts from that account.
I no longer wish to use the account so I deleted the email account from the phone, but that is not deleted the associate contacts.
When I find one of the contacts, I go into Options and I see it is assicated with the 'Contact List' of that said email account.
How do I delete a particular 'Contact List' to which that one is associated?

Email contact list is 1/2 gone. I import and it's there again, then it's gone again. Contact list shows up in Explorer, but not Firefox. How to fix?

My contact list is half gone, the last half of the alphabet (all letters after "J"). I "import" my contacts from the same email account and magically they are all there again. However, when I click on Inbox and then go back to the Contact list, they are half gone again. When I open Internet Explorer, all of the contacts are there.
I'm In Firefox 22.0 and use Windows 7.
How do I get my contacts to stay put??

Hello,
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

Apple script to send imessage to all users in contact list.

I was given this today to be completed today. I have this so far that I found from another post and modified it.

     send "test" to theBuddy

It errors out when sending a message to myself. Even though my apple id is not in the contact list and if it reaches a number that is not registred with imessage it errors out.

I think you're a little wide of the target here.
In an ideal situation i would like to take all 118 people in my address book.
Nothing in your script references your address book at all. Buddies on your buddy list don't necessarily match your Address Book contacts.
Take their mobile number store it in a list and then send my message to them.
You're also referncing molibe numbers, not IM accounts, which are not the same thing. Are you planning on sending out SMS messages to these people? are you sure they're OK with that? Most providers charge for text messages so your plan actually costs your recipients money (assuming you're using a service that has a IM -> SMS gateway).
I guess the system keeps an internal index of those numbers named "buddy" i don't know i'm just guessing here.
When you ask Messages for a buddy, it's referncing names in your Buddy List (Window -> Buddies). That's the list it is iterating through.
I would have liked to skip the manually sending a text message though.
I thought the whole point of this was to automate the process, no?

I'm going to have to figure out how to make it more usable than what it is now.
It would help if you clearly defined your goals. It sounds like you want to send a message to a group of people in your address book. Since there are multiple communication methods (SMS, iChat, AIM, Google Chat, Yahoo, etc.) you need to clarify which method you want. Once you have a clearer idea of your goals it should be easier to work out the implementation.

Address Book contacts list

Can anyone tell me if its possible to hide the "on my mac" contacts list?
I recently upgraded to lion and so now using icloud for most things, however I dont see the need to have duplicate contacts
I have the same groups on the cloud as well as "On my mac" and only want to see just the icloud ones

Go into iCloud preferences and uncheck Contacts from the list. Choose delete Contacts from the compupter. This should clear all contacts from the AB.
Recheck contacts in the iCloud list and it should put only iCloud contacts on your computer and should not have On My Mac listed in the AB list.
If it still does, repeat the process, but completely sign out of iCloud, then sign back in.
