Clearing Digital Signature Adobe Pro 9.4.5?

I have a need to edit several PDF files I created in 2008 AND signed. I am unable to clear the signature field to perform the edits, the "Clear Signature" option is not available on these documents. I suspect this is due to the Digital ID used in 2008 NOT being available on the current PC, since on recently created PDF files I have no problem clearing the signature.
I am guessing here that the digital ID is lost when wiping or replacing a hard drive or obtaining a new PC???
Question is as follows: Is there a way to "open" my own documents for editing purposes when the "clear signature" option is not available? I guess a companion question for future reference would be if the lack of the original digital ID is the problem, is there a way to transfer the digital ID to replacement hardware so that legacy documents I have signed could be opened for editing?

Hi Shelby,
All I meant by escrow was to save off a copy of the digital ID file in a safe location. As complex as the terminology can be in the PKI universe, in this case escrow isn't one to the bazillion (a highly technical term ) PKI acronyms.
As far as digital ID files go, they either have a .P12 extension or a .PFX extension and the end goal is to find or create one.
Digital IDs can reside in several different location; a file (see above), the Windows Certificate Store (in this case think of "store" as storage, not as a place you buy things), the Mac Keychain, a hardware device such as a smart card or token, or a server. The place you want to start is in the Security Settings dialog as it will tell you where the digital ID resides. To get there:
Select the Advanced > Security Settings menu item
Select Digital IDs from the tree view on the left side of the Security Settings dialog
In the list view on the upper right of the Security Settings dialog is a column labeled Storage Mechanism
That's where you find where the digital ID resides. If it says Digital ID File then you've already have it in file format. To see exactly where the file is located expand Digital IDs in the tree view and select Digital ID Files. In the list view on the upper right of the Security Settings dialog is a column labeled Folder, and that's where the file is.
If the Storage Mechanism says Windows Certificate Store you have to use Windows to export the digital ID to a file. Although there are a couple of ways to do this, the easiest is to use Windows Internet Explorer.
Launch the IE browser
Select Tools > Internet Options (depending on the version of IE you might find Tools on the menu or as a toolbar button)
Select the Content tab on the Internet Options dialog
Click the Certificates button
Select the Personal tab on the Certificates dialog (it is the default, so you shouldn't need to click on it)
Highlight the digital ID you want to export from the list view and then click the Export button
Follow the on screen instructions
Just be sure that you save the file to a safe place that gets backed-up and you remember the password.

  • Problems with digital signatures (adobe reader)

I am a Government contractor that develops documents for my customer.  We are in the process of ascertaining the viability of digital signatures. I have developed a signature form with Adobe Pro 9.0.
I have several issues. When someone digitally signs the document with their Common Acess Card (CAC), the warning appears "At least one signature has problems. Please fill out the form. If you are the form author, choose distribute form in the forms menu to send it to your recipients."
I tried using several options using the distribute section, and I am unable to make this part work. I truly need assistance with doing this correctly.  I require that the signatures to be processed in sequence (#1, #2, #3, and then the approval signature).  I did not comprehend that option in the distribute form section.
However, the recipients that use Adobe Acrobat Pro are able to sign the document when submitted to them (however, the prviously stated warning appears). If they use Adobe Reader, they are not able to sign the document.
         Please help.
Is there anyone that can assist with the signature feature of Adobe Pro?
         I would appreciate any suggestion/guidance.
One area that I don't understand is the feature where i 0send the form out for signature.

  • Clearing digital signatures

    Hope someone can help.
I've used the digital signatures tool under Tools/Forms menu to add sgnature fields for our firm and our clients to sign. What I want is to be able to lock those signatures once they are signed. I have gone to the Properties of each signature box and under the Signed tab, I have checked the middle button for Mark as Read-Only, then selcted just the signature box I want locked. I then add my digital signature and send the document to clients for their signatures.
Problem is that I can still clear the signature I entered after it comes back. I cannot clear the clients' signature but my understanding is that once I enter my digital signature, it should not be able to be changed, even by me.
    Am I doing something wrong?

You can set up PDF with multiple signatures -- the challenge is to define "changes" to the document that could invalidate it. Technically adding another signature changes the document. Using a certified document approach that allows form fill-in and digital signatures only means that if anyone make changes other than filling in a form field or signing a signature field, the entire document becomes "invalid".
You can find more information on the certified document approach at:

  • A way to clear digital signatures with presence = "hidden"

LCD 9, Dynamic forms using digital signatures, Reader 9x
I discovered this by accident, so wondering if this is a design feature or a bug.
I have a dynamic form and have sub-forms throughout it.  I create a flowed subform for my digital signature that has fields to collect information and then place a fixed subform inside that that actually contains the signature field.
    Page1 (flowed)
    - SignatureBlocks (subform - flowed)
                    - Field1 (textfield)
                    - Field2 (textfield)
                    -InitSig (subform - flowed)
                                    -Field3 (textfield)
                                    -Field 4(textfield)
                                                    -FixedSub (subform - fixed)
                                                                    -DigitalSig (signature field)
                    -ReviseSect1 (checkbox)
-CALCchkRevise (checkbox – calculated read only)
DigitalSig locks down various fields in the form.
My problem has always been that when the form goes to the next person for review there was no option to push the form back a state and allow the prior user to change info that was locked by DigitalSig.  Until I discovered this:
If I place a checkbox (ReviseSect1) outside of “InitSig” subform and then run a calculation checkbox (CALCchkRevise) that sets the PRESENCE to “hidden” for InitSig if ReviseSect1 == 1, then toggle ReviseSect1 back to 0 my digital signature is cleared and thus all fields that were locked are now un-locked!
    CAR-1601-FM01.Section1.SignatureBlocks.CALCchkRevise::calculate - (JavaScript, client)
    if(ReviseSect1.rawValue == 1)
        SignatureBlocks.InitSig.presence = "hidden";
    else
        SignatureBlocks.InitSig.presence = "visible";
Is this a design feature or a bug?  I like it as I now can have a reviewer toggle the ReviseSect1 checkbox which erases the digital signature and thus opens all those locked fields back up for editing.  Before I push this throughout my form (which has many signatures and review cycles) I want to be sure this is not a fluke that will go away when Adobe pushes its 1,037th update for the week for Reader.  If you hide a subform that contains a digital signature then un-hide it is it the design feature of hidden/visible to clear the signature?  Or is this a bug that will be patched?

A better way is to set two codes on the ReviseSect1 checkbox.  CLICK sets the subform invisible and also sets the value of the checkbox to 0 (so that the user does not come back to un-click it and wipe out the signature again).  Then put a MOUSE EXIT code that sets the subform to visible.  In that way the user clicks the box and the signature subform hides, erasing the signature and un-locking the fields.  As soon as they mouse out of the checkbox the subform with the signature becomes visible again.  Nice.

  • Multiple Signatures Adobe Pro

We are having a problem adding multiple signatures to our PDF using Adobe Pro, when we used version 6 or 7 we do not have any problems.  Is there a new process in added multiple signature?

    Hi crclaunch,
Let's start with which version of Acrobat Pro are you using? Next, tell me a little about the PDF file you are trying to sign, does it have existing signature fields and if you select the File > Properties menu item , then select the Security tab are there any restrictions? Finally, since you said "we are having" I presume there are multiple users in play, are they all using Acrobat or are some of them using Reader?
    Thanks,
    Steve

  • How do I apply the digital signature (Adobe.PPKLite)?

I'm trying to fill out a complaint form to send to the North Carolina DMV. I have to send the form electronically as I have electronic format evidence (texts, facebook conversations, etc.) that i have to send with it. They require the Adobe.PPKLite format for the digital signature and I'm confused on how to use it. Link to the form I'm trying to fill out is below.

  • How can I create a form requesting a digital signature at the end?

I'm looking to create a form for a meeting that allows attendees to fill out their address and pertinent information as an agreement and at the conclusion of the form give them the option to sign electronically/digitally.
How can I do this? Is Adobe Forms the best program for this?

    Hi,
Unfortunately, digital signatures are not supported in Adobe FormsCentral.
In order to collect signatures from the attendees, you can either use Adobe EchoSign to collect electronic signatures or Adobe Acrobat to get the documents digitally signed.

  • Move a digital signature

I have signed a document, in 3 locations and would need to move the signature. How can I select and move the signatures to the correct field?
Most helpful thing I found was that I can clear them.
    Mac  Adobe Acobat X

Thanks Dave I was afraid that was the situation. As you probably already know, I mean to only move/edit my own signature.
Recent years there has been a trend of people sending me long confidentiality agreements to sign, before even booking me for billable work. With how poor the economy has gotten employers ethics have gotten bad. Why give my paperwork and contracts to fill out without even a promise of work, just to stock up a stable of freelancers. And when they do they email them, there are no form fields in their contracts so I have to make them. I also got rid of my land line as many people did so no fax, so this is why I try to sign them digitally.
The add/edit text box feature I never noticed in previous versions has been great. If more people knew how to create forms, the world would be a better place.
After clearing digital signatures, can I atleast delete the empty fields?

  • Does the iOS app allow for digital signatures ?

does the iOS app allow for digital signatures ?

    Hi,
Currently, Adobe Reader mobile products (for iOS, Android, Windows Phone) do not support digital signatures.  But you can add handwritten signatures (as annotations) to PDF documents.
For digital signatures for legally binding documents and contracts, I'd recommend the desktop version of Adobe Reader or Acrobat Pro/Standard.  Alternatively, you can use Adobe EchoSign for e-signatures.

  • "Save As" requested instead of "Save" after digital signature of my PDF

    Hi all,
    I use Adobe Reader XI.
I have a PDF file configured with a set of fields to be filled in.
One of these fields is a digital signature field.
Everyting is working fine: I can fill the fields and sign the document with my ID card, as you can see below :
The problem I have is that when I sign my document with my digital signature, Adobe request a "Save As". I would like to know if there is a way to only use a "Save" ?
That requirement is very important since we will deploy the solution to more than 5000 users in an environment which is integrated with other tools, and for the whole stuff to work, the users can't change the file name nor file path... In that scenario, you will understand that proposing a "Save As" by default is not the good way to go.
Ciould you please tell me if a solution exists for this ?
    Thanks already
    Benoît

Never mind, I found the answer.
A matter of setting the Firefox options so that PDF files open in Reader or whatnot rather than prompt to save.

  • Using adobe pro 9 to move photos out of jpeg into a word doc and keeping name of file as well

    Hi
I had an issue at work today and I wanted to move 300 jpeg photos into word.  The file became very large and I query whether adobe pro 9 can reduce size of the picture and also the size of the file before putting it into word.  I also wanted the name of the file to appear.
    Thanks
    marie

Sorry I may not have been clear.  With adobe pro 9 there is a function to combine files which is what I did.  I selected all the jpegs right hand click to convert to adobe (in windows).  This was sufficient for my purpose but I wanted the name of the file to also appear on each of the jpeg files.  I heard it is possible.

  • How do I remove a digital signature from Adobe Acrobat Pro.  I have set it up wrongly.

I created a digital signature but I wanted to change the signature and it also was not password protected. So I deleted the signature but cannot delete the certificate to set it up again.
    Mac OS X (Operating System)
So I am unable to delete the digital signature in Acrobat Xi pro.
I did the following: Adobe | Preferences | Signatures | Creation and Appearance Preferences and deleted the signature. But Adobe | Preferences | Signatures | Digittal ID and Trusted Certificate Settings, does not want to delete.
    Tank you.

It's not clear to me what you're trying to accomplish. If you get rid of your digital ID you will still be prompted to create/add one when you need to sign a form, which you say you still need to do? Do you really just want to e-sign (hand-drawn signature, or stamp) instead of digitally sign? Do the forms you're using have digital signature fields?

  • Removing digital signatures created in a previous version of adobe acrobat pro

I recently installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro, which required the removal of my previous version (8 Pro). I have several PDF docs created in (8 pro) with signature fields. I reuse these docs inputting updated info. When I do I clear the signature field, and place a new signature. After installed (X Pro) I can no longer clear the signature fields to place an updated signature. I am assuming that the new installation deleted my old signature ID that I created with (8 pro). Is there any way to clear my old signatures?

I don't think it should have deleted the digital ID file, so if you can find it you should be able to add it in Acrobat. Seach you system for any .pfx files to see if you can find it. See this previous thread for some potentially helpful info: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/991314
In the future, be sure to keep a backup of any digital ID files you have.

  • In Adobe X Pro, how do I create a digital signature in my document so that my receiver is able to sign it electronically.

In Adobe X Pro, how do I create a digital signature in my document so that my receiver is able to sign it electronically.

If the other person will be using Reader, you should first add a digital signature field and then Reader enable the form. In Acrobat 10 you'd select: Tools > Forms > Edit
to get into form editing mode. You'd then select the signature field tool to add a signature field.
Once you have the document finalized, Reader-enable the document by selecting: File > Save As > Reader-Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features
being sure to save to a new file so you don't overwrite the original. If you don't Reader-enable, Reader users won't be able to digitally sign.
