Clearing email addresses/ auto fill in mail

When I'm composing an email on my ipad2, I may press the "D" button. Then, in a drop down menu, all email addresses that ive sent emails to show up that start with the letter D(similar to how google try's to predict what your going to search for). Is there a way to clear out the email addressees or stop them from trying to auto fill? My account that my ipad2 uses is a gmail account. I've tried to go through the gmail settings but nothing found so far....any help would be greatly appreciated.

There isn't. It will eventually push of the line unless Apple change things in the interim.

This works perfectly in iOS (iPhone/iPad) but does not work on both my MacBook Pros...
What is the solution?

HI...I have the same question because in uograding from Mountain Lion to Mavericks, I find I can no longer get addresses to "autofill"...guess what , I did exactly what Linc Davis suggested and there is NO autmatically complete address box...which existed before in M. Lion!! Any other suggestions...I thought these things were ment to UP grade and not complicate life even more?!!!

I am also looking for a way purge the email addy autofill of old contacts that no longer exist. Many a family and friends have since changed their E-mail addy's, I have deleted their old addy's from contacts, yet the iPhone autofill still manages to hang on to those in some stored cache that is NOT accessible to purge or delete! This is something I've struggled with regarding the iPhone since my first iPhone months after it originally released years ago, have since owned a few other iPhones as they progressed, currently an iPhone 4, on os 4.01, same issue persists. Have restored my phones, started from new during some restores, etc, those old defunct E-mail addy's still autofill!
I sync with my iMac yet do not even have my mail client set up on the iMac, never have since we bought the iMAc, web based E-mail only, so this issue has nothing to do with mail client on the computer it syncs to.
It would be nice if someone from Apple would reply with acknowledgment that they are indeed aware of this and hopefully it is on their to-do list.

How to clear email address auto-population

Hi,
when you start typing an email address into a new composed email, the application starts auto-suggestions of previously used emails and whatever is in the contacts.
If you mis-spelled an email once and sent an email to that address, that address still appears. How can you clear that list.
In Outlook for example you can just move arrow down on the auto-suggestion and hit delete. The same also works in IE or Firefox browsers if you want to delete auto-suggestions on previously used fields.

Is the mis-spelled email address appearing in a drop-down list below the text field (as you would typically seen a desktop web browser) or is it appearing in the text field itself, suggested by predictive text?
1) If it's the former look for "Clear Privacy Data -> Form/password data" on the browser menu. (This will clear ALL stored form data.) You don't list your phone model, so your layout could be slightly different. The above is for an E73.
2) If it's the latter, the only solution I know is to install Nokia's Custom Dictionary application at http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/nokia-custom-dictionary . This will let you delete and edit individual dictionary entries. It should be compatible with most 3rd Ed. and 5th Ed. phones.

is there any way to clear email addresses from the history? not my contacts, the saved addresses that I've previously sent to. I tried deleting the email acct but they still come up when I re-added the account. thanks.

Re Yahoo mail: When entering a recipient for an e-mail the auto-fill drop down shows possible matches well in excess of my contacts. It includes anyone that I have ever sent/rec'd and all the addresses that were also cc'd in those e-mails.
From what I have read on Yahoo boards the suggestions are generated from the browser's stored data (ie. it's a browser problem not a Yahoo Mail problem). I have FF options set to delete all history (browse/download/cache/forms/search/cookies/logins/pwds/offlinedata) each time FF closes.
I am able to delete unwanted suggestions one at a time but as a practical approach that is beyond ridiculous.
Does FF keep a master list of part addresses? If so, how do I delete all except my current contacts?

Firefox doesn't store email addresses except as form data; data that you typed previously into Firefox.

Yahoo e-mail will not allow me to add contacts and will not auto fill e-mail addresses, and now I'm having trouble downloading Adobe documents from my bank. All of these problems can be solved by using Internet Explorer, but I prefer Firefox.

I get an error message when trying to add new contacts and it is suggested I try back later, also when sending an e-mail the address I wish to send an e-mail to will no longer auto-fill. This has been a problem for sometime, maybe a month. The last problem I had was trying to download my March bank statement, in Adobe. If I switch to Internet Explorer I can accomplish these tasks. I am using Yahoo on both Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Check the Ethernet connection to the AirPort Express. Make sure that the Ethernet connection from the Comcast modem is connected to the WAN port on the back of the AirPort Express. The WAN port is the one with the circle of dots shown over the port.
It sounds like you are connected to the Ethernet LAN port.

Address auto fill

I've just done a clean re-install of Snow Leopard. I replaced the user-->Library-->Mail folder with the one from my previous system. My email addresses won't auto fill though. Which file or folders do I need from my old system to get this to happen?

Configure: two email addresses in one family : mail both

I have had some annoyance when working with mail/address book and how they handle couples or families with multiple email addresses in one contact card.
It may be that I am not using it properly.
For instance:
Contact: Matthew and Amy Smith
email addresses: [email protected] and [email protected]
When I type in matthew in Mail.app I am only allowed to choose one, lets say its mine. I then have to retype matthew in order to go to find amy's email address, and then in the TO: field both contacts say "Matthew Smith".
I would think there is a better way to handle this than to record EVERYONE seperately in a family?
Any thoughts would be extremely helpful,

Here is how I do it.
It is a little bit of a hack, but it works for me.
1) Create an 'Organization' card for the family or entity.
2) Leave the first and last name fields blank.
3) Fill in the company name in a way so you can find it and
so it will alphabitize nicely. e.g. "Smiths, John and Sue"
4) Create email fields of the form:
John Smith <[email protected]>
5) Enter the 'name' part of the address, e.g. 'John Smith'
in the address fields of the email.
6) Or, when you call up the address applet you can go to the entry
and see all the alternative addresses.
They will each show up in the mail headers as addresses to:
Name <email_address>
[u]Note[/u]: You [b]must[/b] leave both the 'first' and 'last' name fields blank.
(The name field is the N:;;;; line ion the vCard file.)
If you fill them in then when adding one of the email addresses, it will list
the 'first last' name fields as the name of the person being addressed
instead of the individual names in the email address field.
Here is a vcard of my template.
Paste it into a text file, save it as template.vcf ,
then double click it into your addressbook.
It will add a template to the addressbook so you can see exactly what I mean.

How can I delete a no-longer-valid email address from iPhone's Mail?

My son has changed his email address, and I have made the changes in the Adressbook (they sync correctly via MobileMe). But his old email address continues to pop up in the Mail application. I know how to delete this from the desktop's Mail application, but don't know how to do this on the iPhone.

The only way to remove this data from your phone is to restore the phone as a "new" device, & not from a backup. Of course, if you do this you will lose all saved data & have to sync back your itunes content. Some view this as a feature, others a PIA. You need to decide for yourself if it's worth going through restoring as new or just living with it. You can leave feedback here:

'Email' address not shown in mail form (file export)

I am working with Campaigns in SAP CRM EHP3.
The problem appears when I execute Campaign through communication method "File Export" , because of 'Email' address doesn't appears in the file (although Business partners have them informed).
The steps I followed :
Create the Campaign with communication method "File Export"
Create a new structure in the attributes contexts to add: BAPIBUS1006_ADSMTP to dispose the field "Email" from BP
Now, from therole IC_MANAGER , I created a mailform incluiding new field 'email'
Execute campaign with a segment (all the BP in target group have Email address informed)
Theoutput filedoesn’t showemails addresses..

IN MY CASE I HAVE IPHONE 5 LATEST UPDATE I NOTICE FROM A FEW WEEKS EVEN THE EXCHANGE MAIL IS ON BANNER MODE AND LOCK SCREEN IS SET ON TOO WHAT I ONLY HEARD IS THE SOUND WHEN IS PUSHED FROM SERVER THE EXCHANGE EMAILS DO NOT APPEAR IN THE NOTIFICATION CENTER BESIDE THIS EVERYTHING ELSE IS WORKING PERFECT.

Is there any way to edit an email address in the iPad mail app once it has been highlighted?

To try and clarify the above, when I type an email address in the address field, in the Mail app, and then hit the space bar, the email address becomes highlighted. If I then want to edit the email address I cannot for the life of me work out how to do it without deleting it and typing it out again.

Had to change email address.

the ebooks are not transferrable from your old email address to the new
one. If the ebooks were purchased, there's a chance that you can go back
to the seller and discuss the situation with them, and they may give you
another download to your new email address. If the ebooks are in the
public domain, you can go back and download them again to your new email

Email address auto-suggest

Does anyone know if there is a way to get the iPhone to quit auto-suggesting emails addresses? I just started a new job, and it has lot's of old suggestions based on having used Exchange Active-Sync. I have removed the contacts, but it's still suggesting their address.

restore as a new phone then resync and you are back to normal.

Clearing email addresses using Comcast

When I begin typing an email address into (Comcast email form) the "To" bar, an "intuitive" box pops up with possible email addresses to select from. Some of these addresses are old, and I want to clear them out. When I go to Safari's Preferences and check out the "autofill" these addresses are not listed, just web sites (which I'd like to keep). I contacted Comcast and they suggested that it is a Safari issue. So, how do I clear these old addresses?

See if you have an entry in Safari's AutoFill Preferences for Comcast under "Other Forms" (click on Edit to the right of Other Forms). This might be where the addresses are hiding. Deleting the Comcast entry in Other Forms would clear the entries if this is the case. To test it out, uncheck the Other Forms option in AutoFill Preferences and go to Comcast to see if the addresses pop up or not in the To: field. If so, delete the Comcast entry in Other Forms.
