Click noise on SPDIF after update to  4.1

I am using iPod touch 3G 64 GB and 2G 32 GB on a great Onkyo ND-S1 dock with a digital connention (SPDIF) to amplifier. With the firmware 4.0, it has worked with best sound quality. The quality over SPDIF was much better, then with headphone connection.
After an software update of the 3G from 4.0 to 4.1, I got often click noises over the music. And the music don't sounds as good, as formerly. For the clicks, it's no matter, if Wi-Fi or airplane modus is on, or off. The USB connection on the dock is not connected. On headphone connection, there are no clicks.
With my second iPod touch (4.0 software, not updated) and Onkyo dock, there are no clicks, noises or any other problems at all. And it sounds better, then with 4.1.

Hi
you have the onkyo ND-S1 working ok with the ipod toch 3?
Yes. ND-S1 works excellent with 3G and 2G till iOS 4.0.1. It sounds much better, then analogue connection or headphone jack.
Are you happy with it?
I would be happy, if I could turn the update back from iOS 4.1 to 4.0.1 :-/
Untill the update of iOS, I was very happy with this docking station.
did you try the tuch 4g?
No.

  • Clicking noise and freezing during updating

Hello everyone, if anyone could help with the following problem i'd be more than grateful. my ipod recently wouldnt connect to windows and started making a clicking noise. to try an resolve this i have reset and restored. I thought this would solve the problem. However, when ipod is updating it seems to freeze, stop updating and clicking noise starts. the following message appears
the specified I/O operation on E: was not completed before the time out period expired.
the only way i can disconnect is to shut the computer down. My playlists appear but with no songs.
this is my 2nd ipod (clicking noise also happened so ipod was replaced in warranty) which is now out of warranty. I think my hard drive might be giving up? These discussions are my last hope! Do I buy a new ipod (possibly for the same thing to happen)? or is it worth getting it serviced? Does anyone out there have any ideas?

Even i have a Ipod with a click wheel and is behaving similarly.
Once i connect it to the PC (using USB) it shows the "Do Not Disconnect" sign forever and even iTunes does not recognize it, the hard disk is making some clicking noise and after some time windows returns timeout error "The specified I/O operation on E: was not completed before the time out period expired" !!
I think we are in the same boat, What do we do ???
    Thanks

  • Clicking noise on phone after installing wireless router WRT160N

I have just installed a WRT160N wireless router and have had success in getting it going after some initial problems with my virus protection/firewall.  However I now have a constant soft clicking sound on my phone.  I have Comcast high speed internet and also their phone service (over the cable system).  Any ideas on how to solve this problem.  Without the router, there is now clicking at all.

What type of phone you are using ? Kindly give more details...

  • Why does my right click has no function after update to 10.7.2

I have just updated my software to 10.7.2 and it seems that whenever I right-clicked, there is no function to it. Which means I can't compress my documents, etc. Has 10.7.2 disenabled it? Or is it just my mac that is encountering problems?

go to system preferences, then your device. There you'll find the option to right click. if it is off turn it on, if it is on, turn it off and on.
send feedback to apple about this issue if it was on but didn't work.
People have found toggling the option off and on fixes their issue. that and restarting the computer.

  • Firefox does not open to "maximized" after updating add-ons and performing the restart

After checking for any updates to installed add-ons and, if there should be an update(s) available, and ... after performing the download of the update(s) with a "RESTART FIREFOX" is needed ... Firefox does not restart/reopen to MAXIMIZED. I have to manually maximize Firefox.

This problem ... I suspect ... is only when I am using Windows XP Home w/SP3. This problem does not occur when I use Firefox on Ubuntu (Linux). So now, I don't know if there is a problem with Firefox using Windows XP or that the problem is with Windows XP using Firefox. In any case, I will not just do the extra clicking to maximize Firefox after updating the addons and such. Thanks anyway.

  • Applications keep freezing after updates are installed...

My MacBook (Santa Rosa model) cannot seem to run any applications with out having them freeze every few clicks. It happened after updating from 10.5 to 10.5.6, with quite a few other updates installed at the same time as well. This happens to pretty much every application I run. What should I do?

Try downloading the Mac OS X 10.5.6 combo updater and install it.

cannot right click on wireless mouse after mavericks upgrade. please help!

    Hey eedge520,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are unable to right-click with your mouse after updating. Let’s check your mouse preferences, as you can enable this behavior in System Preferences > Mouse > Point & Click > Secondary Click

  • Clicking noise after downloading the security update...

    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone else's MacBook has a clicking noise after they did the system update for the security, sounds like it is coming from the top right hand corner.
If anyone knows what might be causing this problem, do let me know.
    Thanks,
    Sam

Could the noise be coming from the hard drive (lower right corner?)
And, is the 'click' the same sound that the HDD makes once, normally, just before the whole computer turns off during shut down or sleep?
My clicking HDD began right after downloading the last Security Update (the one released in May), but I concluded that was just a coincidence. Nevertheless, when I installed yesterday's security update I couldn't help but secretly hope it might stop the clicks. No such luck... I still doubt it has anything to do wuth it. Just thought I'd ask...

  • Hard drive makes plunking and clicking noises after Firmware Update

My Macbook hard drive worked fine for 9 months until I installed the EFI Firmware Update 1.1 a few months ago. The hard drive then started making plunking or clicking noises every 30 seconds or so, which is beyond annoying. Eventually, I became worried, backed up my data and took it to Apple to get the hard drive replaced. They replaced my 120gb Toshiba drive with a new 120gb Fujitsu drive and it does the same exact thing.
Apparently the plunk is the sound of the drive head parking on the disk. I am now pretty certain nothing is wrong with my hard drives but something was changed during a Firmware or Software Update that tells my hard drive to park the disk head every 30 seconds. Ive found a few other similar cases on the internet. The drive seems to function fine otherwise.
I know two other people with Macbooks and their hard drives don't make the same noise as mine despite having the same drives. Ive tried two hard drives now, Ive tried various power settings, disk utility doesn't find any issues and performance hasn't suffered. Its just an incredibly irritating sound every 30 seconds that is driving me crazy.
I don't want to learn to just deal with it because its annoying and distracting, and is possibly something created from an update.
    Anybody have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Ed

    Hi, welcome to Discussions,
You may have seen some of the various threads about this on this forum. There were many last year (summer 2006) and I've noticed some recently:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5747020&#5747020
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1226956&tstart=0
None of the threads last year provided any "fixes" as far as I remember, the way people are attempting hacks above.
I had the parking-like sound (never found out if it really was parking) on three consecutive Seagate 80Gb drives in a first generation MacBook Core Duo. It would start after about a day and a half after receiving it, presumably after Spotlight had finished indexing and the drive was then being left idle. The drives were perfect otherwise, and whisper quiet (which made the thunking sound easier to hear). Finally the Apple Store in Brent Cross, London determined that the sound was normal, saying these newfangled smaller SATA drives make such sounds which are normal to their operation. I decided to drop my concern, because the drive (#3!) was working fine.
Your experience is interesting because it seems to relate the offending drive action to the EFI Firmware Update. In my own case my MacBook was replaced last month because of a different issue and the new one (Core 2 Duo – yay!) has a Hitachi 120 Gb which is noisier in general, but no clunks to be noticed yet.
    Good luck!
    Rhys

  • [SOLVED] Headphone keep producing noises after update

I executed "pacman -Syu" yesterday. And after update my headphone isn't turned on automatically. I had install alsamixer and unmute it manually, but the problem is the headphone keeps producing annoying noises. It never happened before the update. I have win***s installed and got no problem with it.
Don't know what to do here. I've been using linux (mandriva, opensuse, fedora, slackware, and mostly ubuntu) for 5 years, but haven't been working with arch until a month ago, so you probably underestand my situation.
    Thank for the cooperation..

and one more thing, when booting up i noticed that when udev was starting, there was a slight click sound coming from my headphones twice. I assume that was a sign that the headphone was turned on and turned off again when udev was starting, so maybe it was udev problem, i think.

Today i updated my i phone 4 to new update IOS 5.1 and now when incoming calls are coming in my phone is not ringing and i have no click noises on my keypad.Even though i have been into my settings to check if on. can anyone help?

Have you checked your sound prefs after you updated the OS? It's possible they got changed during the update.

  • Click to activate does not work after update

Click to activate plugin does not work after updating to version 23.0.1

hello Kamullia, if you have set click-to-play to true in about:config you can now go to the ''addons-manager > plugins'' section and set the permissions individually for each plugin type.

  • After updating to v. 24.0 (and restarting) ALL add-ons (regardless whether they work or not) are marked "(disabled)", and clicking Enable button does nothing

After updating to v. 24.0 (and restarting, several times) ALL add-ons (regardless whether they work or not) are marked "(disabled)". I tried clicking "Enable" button for each add-on and nothing happened. There is only one add-on which is marked as incompatible with this version (but it was also incompatible with previous version, and so marked).
Clicking "Update Add-ons", gives a short list of add-ons but "Install Updates" button is pale and doesn't work. I can only sort list by name or last update.
Also, I disabled Ask Toolbar and that went well. When I click "Enable" button (button works ONLY for this add-on) it takes forever to get note: “Ask Toolbar will be enabled after you restart Firefox”, I used to get this info in seconds time before this update. (I do not really want Ask Toolbar, I just used it to see whether if I disable and then enable an add-on might do the trick.)
Bottom line – I can not tell if add-on works (i.e. if it is enabled or disabled) unless I try using it.
Even when I posted this question and installed Troubleshooter, it's also marked as "(disabled)"

    You're welcome
Are this screenshots from an extension window because the built-in about:addons page looks different?

  • After updating to latest Firefox - when I click on google taskbar my CPU usage goes to 100% and stays there... and computer is really slow. No other search engine show the 100% usage like Google. There was NOT a problem with older versions of Firefox...?

My computer got really slow after updating to latest version of Firefox. I checked all processes and I was testing the system. THe CPU usage goes between 2 and 70 percent staying around 25% on average, when I check my e-mail. As soon as I click on Google taskbar (without even typing in anything) the CPU usage jumps to 100% and STAYS at 100 %, and computer extremely slow.
