Click on a link and two websites open or e-mail dosn't load????

why is this and when I load yahoo mail won't load hit a link and bunch of BS ad websites open WTF???

In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test the links and your email in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode.
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
* "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).
Any difference?

First, you are using a version of Firefox that is very old and outdated. Please update to at least Firefox 3.6.27, or more preferably, update to Firefox 10.0.2. There are lots of bug fixes, security improvements, and much improved performance in Firefox 10.
After you do that, try seeing if you are still having a problem. If you are, is this that when you try to select "Open in a new tab" it opens in a new window instead? Or something else?

• I can no longer click on a link and it automatically open in a new tab

I can not find the option to default Firefox to open a link in a new tab. It opens it in the current tab. How do I reset up this feature?

Go to Tools>options>tabs>check the "open new windows in tab"
or ctrl+click on the link ( always worked )

• Email or contact box is no longer opening when I click on a link within any website

whenever I click on any link withing any website that should and always had either opened an email, contact us section withing that website, or my default email, nothing happens. example, going to a website that has a link for contact us, I click on the obvious link and nothing happens. This is not just happening within one website, but every site that I go to. Absolutely nothing happens when I click on links that are obvious links that should direct you to either another area or open an email within every website I go to. This started happening about 6 weeks ago, now in the last week, my firefox keeps crashing for no reason. I use a mac OS X 10.4.11.. I have made no changes to my system, have not downloaded any new programs, and everything else is working fine with my mac.

Further to jscher2000's suggestion yesterday: I think I misunderstood the suggestion, which I didn't find very clear. I've now discovered that if I send a Firefox open window (with one or more open tabs) to hide in the dock first, then clicking on a link twice (once to bring the mail program to the front and again to open the link), this will cause the hidden tab/s to come out of hiding AND a new tab for the link will open. Cumbersome, and I still maintain there is a bug in version 32, but this workaround is at least quicker than copying and pasting the link.
Thanks to cor-el and jscher2000 for your responses.

Delete the cookie and cache of any website you visited that you are uncertain about.    That's in your browser preferences.  What Mac operating system and browser are we talking about?
Did you attempt to download any software from the website, or just visit the link on the e-mail?   Or did you attempt to open an attachment on the e-mail?

It sounds like your computer may be infected with some sort of a virus / Malware.
I suggest the following resources:
Is my Firefox problem a Result of Malware is a Mozilla Support article with some good tips on avoiding and fighting malware.
To double check your system is clean, do the following (Not official Mozilla advice, just good practice from personal experience)
Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. http://www.malwarebytes.org/
Download and Run TDSSKiller http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363
Download and Install Microsoft Security Essentials http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/security-essentials (not an official endorsement, but I personally recommend MSE as an awesome permanent anti-virus)
Double check for all Windows Updates.
Also, I noticed you have the coupon printer installed. I would go to Start, Control Panel, then programs and features and uninstall the coupon Printer from inside there. It can cause some problems with Firefox.
If you are still having problems with Malware after that, I would recommend either http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/, or having your computer cleaned by a professional.

Hi Jeff I have uninstalled Muse from my applications and have tried to download the new version but it displays a message 'file not found'. I have included a screenshot.

• I am unable to open new tabs, in any way I attempt to do so. I have checked the settings and they are fine, so it's not those. The only way I can open a new tab is to right click on a link and instruct it to open in a new tab.

Any way I attempt to open new tabs, be it clicking on the new tab button or using the short-cut Ctrl-t, I am unable to open any new tabs on my browser window.
The only way I have found that I can open a new tab is to right-click on a link and instruct that link to open in a new window.

Try disabling the Ask Toolbar extension.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.

• This app tab feature doesn't work for me: "Links to new websites open in a new tab so that your App Tab doesn't change".

I installed the new firefox 4 browser today. In the description about the new app tab the following feature is claimed:
"Links to new websites open in a new tab so that your App Tab doesn't change."
This doesn's seem to work for me. When I click a link in an app tab i just get redirected and my app tab changes. Is this a bug or a setting?

This is what the article here claims you need mobile share plan to work.
It shows it will work fine over wifi.

I click on a link and it goes there in Firefox but it doesn't put the browser on top of what I am doing. It used to do that, how can I make it go back to doing that?

I am using Robo Form like I have for years and when I click on a website to open it goes there and puts in the username and password and opens in a new tab but Robo Form stays on top and Firefox is underneath it and it used to automatically go to Firefox and put it on top and now it doesnt do that anymore.

• Why when I click on a link a new window opens instead of a tab, this is new

When I click on a link a new window opens instead of a new tab. This is new. I've gone into tools and checked my settings and nothing changes it. It annoys me.

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.<br>
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
See Troubleshooting extensions and themes and Troubleshooting plugins

• Not true: Links to other websites open in a new tab so that your App Tab doesn't change.

In the article "What are App Tabs", there's the following statement:
"Links to other websites open in a new tab so that your App Tab doesn't change." That doesn't happen when I make an App Tab in FF 7.01 in Win 7. I want it to happen, but it doesn't. Sometimes I want to keep Gmail open while I open an link in an email. When I click on the link, I expect a new tab to open, but it doesn't. Instead, the App Tab the contains gmail goes to the linked website. How can I stop this from happening?

• How to get href="tel:phonnumber" working? (click on a link and call on mobile)

Hi,
I am trying to develop a component for a mobile website which allows users to click on a link and make a phone call on the mobile device.
I have tried to use the following code :
<a  href="tel:<%=xssAPI.encodeForHTML(tel)%>" >Click and Call!</a>    // where tel is for instance: 12345678
But CQ keeps displaying:
localhost:4502/content/mysite/_tel_12345678
I need the link to display as tel:123456789
I've also tried using href="http://tel:<%=xssAPI.encodeForHTML(tel)%>" which displays 'tel:12345678' when mouse hovering over on a computer. However, as soon as I deploy the code on a mobile device and press on the link, it redirects to 'http://tel.12345678' which results in an error page.
Has anyone had any experience in bypassing CQ's URL prefixing and force the href to be what the user input is?
Many thanks.

EDIT: disregard this answer, Justin Edelson has the simple & correct answer. My bad for not having had enough coffee, and firing up a decompiler before looking at the service configuration. Is there any official documentation on the settings, apart from the comments in the service configuration? My google-fu is obviously weak today
Is "tel:number" correct - shouldn't it be "tel://number"? The latter won't be rewritten.
I'm not sure how to make the former version work. The guilty part is CQ's Link Checker (which not only checks for valid links, but also does other transformations - the one you're dealing with is "namespace mangling". You can disable link checking - and some rewrites - on a per-link basis by adding x-cq-linkchecker="skip" to the href tag, but "link externalizing" (which includes namespace mangling) is done regardless of that attribute.
If you need "tel:", without the slashes, to work, I'm not sure if there's a better way than completely replacing CQ's Link Checker... or, if you're into Extreme Hacks™, don't mind depending on implementation details, and can place a "://" somewhere in the href without breaking phone parsing, that'll keep the namespace mangling from triggering.
But then you'd have to question yourself whether you can live with something like the following - I know I couldn't
<a href="tel:1234-454-52&hack=hack://" x-cq-linkchecker="skip">click to call!</a>
