Click on bank estatement link brings up launch application. Safari doesn't do this.
I recently switched my financial work from Safari to Firefox because I am still on Mac Book Pro Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and, according to a recent web article, Firefox will provide better security than Safari, now that Apple has quit security updates.
When I drill down to this particular bank's link to view the estatement, the Launch Application box shows up. I tried Preview and Firefox. Preview does nothing and Firefox crashed.
I do not have this problem with another bank. I normally do not download estatements.
How can I avoid this nuisance (I went back to Safari to view this estatement).

This issue is resolved for me; I no longer get Firefox's Application Launch window.
I set the Application Preference for "Portable document (PDF) to "Preview in Firefox". This works nicely for most of my estatements: a statement display without a download. Oddly, one estatement from a particular bank causes "What should Firefox do with this file?" The choices are to "save file" or "preview with default". A download happens in either case. (After printing the file I move it to Trash and do a Secure Empty Trash.) Finally, a particular quarterly estatement does not download and displays in a new window, which I presume is under the financial institution's site control. So, out of 6 various bank estatements, only one seems to require a download.

Anytime I drag my cursor across, or try to click on a "mailto" email link on any webpage, it will display an incorrect e-mail address (it seems to default to one in particular). It will not open a new e-mail window and if I "copy e-mail address" it's the wrong one. I've tried everything and was hoping with new updates the problem would solve itself but obviously it hasn't.

Why will Safari not launch Eudora when I click on an email link?
It used to work just fine. However, for about a month now, when I click on "send an email" at my Real Estate Board site, Safari is replaced by a white screen, then reverts back to the "send an email" page. Eudora doesn't launch. Mail doesn't launch. I have Internet Explorer for Mac installed as well, and it won't connect via my e-mail programs either.
I also run Virtual PC, and under it, Internet Explorer. The Windoze version still works.
What gives?Let me restate my problem.
If I run Safari, click on the email link which should launch Eudora and open a "New Message" window, the screen goes white for a second and reverts back to the link screen but nothing happens. If I launch Eudora first, then in Safari click on the link, still nothing happens.
If I run Explorer for Mac v 5.2.3 it will neither launch Eudora nor open a New Message window if Eudora is already launched.
If I run FireFox, and I click on the link, Eudora will launch and a New Message window opens as it used to do in Safari.
I could really use some help here. Any ideas? Why should I have to use 3rd party browsers? -
'Launch Application' Window at Install?
I just purchased PS CC. When I click the download button, a window titled "Launch Application", which wants me to choos an app from the app folder. I am not sure what app I am suppose to choose to continue the download process. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Workspace not rendering after selecting "Launch Application"
Hi,
I have a 11.1.2.2 instance of Planning, Essbase, ODI etc. running on the cloud via Metavero. It's up and running, I think. When I click on Workspace URL and then select 'Launch Application', another window pops up and it looks like it wants to give me the login screen but it just stays gray and never gets to the login. I tried restarting some services but not sure which ones and which order is correct. Or is there other things I need to check?Sounds like browser issue, Which browser (and version) you are using?

I have found a solution to launch applications from java.I thought this will be useful for programmers who want to open a
1. Browser
2. Player

There are 2 solutions :
I)To use a known application :
eg: to open windows media player

And make up your mind what file type you're having a problem with. Maybe .asx doesn't have a file association on your computer.

Can I view a QuickTime movie on my ipad2? When I click on link that should launch a QuickTime movie I get a blank screen. Is there something I should download to make this work?
Install OPlayer HD and enable the QuickTime plugin to play your movies.

I opened Firefox on a freshly rebooted PC, went to click on a mailto: link in a webpage and get the error message that Thunderbird is already running. Thunderbird is not running, but will not open for sending email.
The cause could have something to do with Firefox not opening Thunderbird correctly, or that Thunderbird is not getting the correct permissions to run properly when called by Firefox.
When I start Thunderbird from it's icon, I get a Windows 7 prompt asking me if I want to allow this program to make changes on my computer. If Thunderbird is started by Firefox asking it to create a mail message, as is the case with a mailto: link, It never gets this permission requester.
I have tried troubleshooting information regarding Thunderbird already running error messages, however, there are no .lock files associated with Thunderbird nor is it's ability to send/receive mail when run from it's own icon affected by this problem. I therefore think it's a problem with the way in which Firefox calls Thunderbird to create an email message.
There is the additional problem that Thunderbird has to have administrative privileges to run, but doesn't automatically get them. This might require a separate bug report submission be generated to the Thunderbird developers to fix this problem, but is dependent on what they can do about that.The reason firefox is not able to launch thunderbirds is because it cannot start thunderbird as administrator unless firefox is running as administrator, try to start firefox as administrator user then click the link.
It should work.
To start a program as '''administrator on windows''', '''RIght Click''' on the iFF con and choose '''Run as Administrator''', then press yes when the user access control box pops.

I have used Firefox for about 7 years. No issues...
I recently installed Ghostery add on.
The only way to describe it is:
I go to a page..
Click a link (or close to it) or enter or any other button/link that would take me to what I expect..
BUT instead it opens a new tab to an advertisement site (quibids, P&G, many other random ads) - a few of them I blacklisted with BLOCKSITE (installed after the problem started happening) but several I can't because I would actually use them when I need to (ex: Vistaprint.com)
When I go back to the original site and click the same link and click it again it works as intended.
This happens across all sites that I am on...
It is like there is a hidden link within the one I am clicking on.
I have pop ups blocked in my browser but this gets around it somehow.
Since GHOSTERY installed, some sites do not work correctly. If I click on a picture, or something that I want to expand it is as if I am doing nothing at all because it won't complete the action, the functionality is broken.
I have white listed a couple sites but this is random and if I whitelist everything I come across then it opens me back to what I am trying to avoid..
EXAMPLES:
went on Heat.com, clicked the button to go to the White Hot Gear instead it opened a new tab brandonline.com
was on LinkedIn and hit the comment button on a thread, then it opened a new tab vistaprint.com
was on publix.com, hit the order refills button, then it opened a new tab premium-promos.net
did a google search clicked on the link I wanted, it opened a new tab premiumgiftrewards.net
EACH time I go back to the original site and click the same button/link/etc it takes me where expected.

However I can click anywhere on the page and an ad will pop up. I have eliminated all unwanted bars in Firefox, I ran Malwarebytes until it came out clean. I also have AVG which had detected a few items on it's own. But when I get into Firefox I still have exactly the same problem. Now it will not let me download Browser Safeguard. Usually after one click the pointer returns to normal for a few screens. When I try to click to download Browser Safeguard it keeps bringing up different ads or it tries to get me to upgrade Firefox or some other browser helper program which I know are all BS tactics to get me to load their junk again. PLease help I'm an engineer and pretty good with PCs but this one has me beat at least so far.

Safari 4.0.3 PPC = FREEZES when I click on iTunes Store Links!!!
*EVERY TIME I click on iTunes Store Link in Safari 4.0.3 it FREEZES!*
If I Disable Plug-ins, then NO PROBLEM, but then I can't watch Flash Videos on FaceBook etc.
I've Re-Install Safari Several Times, and this problem went away Temporarily.
I've Deleted This File

and Reinstalled Safari again - same thing - this problem went away Temporarily.
I am on Powerbook G4, 10.4.11, all latest updates!
This problem with clicking on iTunes Store Links does NOT exist in the latest version of Firefox 3.5.3.
How do I fix this!?
My only, faintly remote SUSPECT is Audio Hijack Pro 2.83, which is NOT the latest version of that product, but I am using it cause it's Use Interface is much more conducive to my needs!
But still, how come only Safari 4.0.3 is effected?

I clicked on Apple Care to call me. Within seconds my phone rang! A few minutes on Hold. A really nice guy read this Thread and confirmed that I probably should Download Security Update 2009-002 (Tiger PPC) http://support.apple.com/downloads/SecurityUpdate_2009_002__Tiger_PPC
The File Name was a bit unclear: Security Update 2009-002 (Tiger PPC) vs. Security Update 2009-002 (PowerPC)
After a quick discussion, I Download it and the File Name turned out to be identical to what I already had installed: Security Update 2009-002 (Tiger PPC). So, the difference in names, as seen at http://support.apple.com/downloads/SecurityUpdate_2009_002__Tiger_PPC was less than reassuring... But, then I looked at the Dates in Installed Updates in my System Preferences, and realized that I've installed Security Update 2009-002 (PowerPC) 8 minutes before installing Safari 3.2.3, since those updates were offered to my by the Software Updates!
The Apple Care guy though: maybe my Security Update 2009-002 (PowerPC) should have been installed after Safari?, or maybe it just got corrupted during the install?
Corrupted or not, that doesn't explain that I already have 2009-005 (PowerPC) which supposedly incorporates the previous updates, like this one, that Carolyn suggested -- Security Update 2009-002 (PowerPC).
So, after installing Security Update 2009-002 (PowerPC) and Restart a few minutes ago, I got *happy news* -- Success:)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -- I clicked on various iTunes links in my Safari, and it launched iTunes Store perfectly! Then I used Audio Hijack Pro, cause it has a Plug-in, and it was worked fine + this Freeze problem didn't come back! I Restarted with my Test User -- Success:)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! , Restarted with my Main User - Success:)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quit + Relaunched Safari several time - Success:)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll give it a week, and if the problem doesn't come back, than it's definitely a - Success:)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I
can check off "Yes, my question has been answered. " :)!
BTW, according to my Apple Care hero who held my hand though this "surgery", when he looked at this Thread, he said that Carolyn had to be from Apple, if she had that designation: From: Apple USA on her post... But, at this point, I am just happy that it appears that the problem has been solved!

After installing firefox 15.0, I can not open links form email or other office 2010 applications. I get "application not found" error. I tried setting firefox as the default program both manually (in the Windows default program panel) and automatically (having Firefox to do it automatically on startup (tools->options->advanced->General). I still have the error.
That sounds odd. Is this error coming from a particular e-mail program you're using? It could be that that program has its own settings for which web browser to launch, ignoring the "default browser" setting in Windows.
Does the same thing happen if you click on a web link from any other external (non-browser) application on your computer? If it happens with other apps too, I would suggest to re-download and install Firefox (www.mozilla.org) and see if that takes care of it. -

Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

Install ShareIt2.1.14.0 on Windows8.1 64bit OS, after installed successfully, launch ShareIt, click "Click here for help" link, it display "This page can’t be displayed".
