Click video to open in separate window !!

I assume many of you know this but I just discovered it yesterday. If you click on a video (tv show, pixar movie, or music video) that is displayed in the lower left hand part of the iTunes window while it is playing it will open in a separate window, allowing you to move it around and resize it easily.
Thought I would pass this on in case some of you missed it.

Thanks Winston ! I changed my preference to open videos in its own window.
My daughters love the pixar movies and although I have a 65 inch hdtv in the same room as my imac, it is just cool to be able to watch Lost in a window on my imac while I surf the web or fiddle with imovie or iphoto.

I used to have it set so I can open a video podcast in a separate window and then close it and have the main window STILL open in back of it...
Now I don't see and pref for that in 10.4.1

I haven't figured that out yet. Each video played in a seprate window seems to take on the size of the video's original size. You won't have that problem if you choose to play them back in the iTunes window, or full screen. Then, they all play the same size, but you have to click the circled X that appears in the top left corner when you first move cursor into the video window or move it within the video window to see the main window again.

Welcome page opens each time I start Firefox, my homepage opens in separate window. I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled and it continues to happen. Homepage is set to google and is present when I go to the general tab.

Tools > Options > Tabs
Uncheck the first checkbox.
Hopefully that's all you need, but if it doesn't work, let us know.

Streaming video to open in separate qt player window

I need to add some streaming video to my web site. I am able to do all what I need except I need the streaming video to open in a separate qt player window. Not the window I choose the video from.
Any advise on this would be appreciated.

When I click links that open in a new window, that new window is not maximized, like the browser window that I used to click the link. How can I fix this?
I prefer using new windows instead of new tabs, and I have been doing this forever. I had turned OFF the automatic updates for Firefox, but this newest update was installed anyway. If there is no setting to open all new links in windows the same size as the main window, is there an option to revert this update?

There is a feature in Firefox that forces window.open() to open in a new window.

Same window size should be default. It should open the window of the same size. Try to reset firefox if this is not happening. (about:support page > Reset)

Why does ctrl+Left click a link open a new window? It should open a new tab in the current window.

When I try to Ctrl+Left click to open a link in a new tab, it will open it in a new window instead. Then while in the new window if I Ctrl+Left click a link it will open a new tab in the second window. If I then go back to the first Firefox window and Ctrl+Left click a link the second firefox window will pop up and the new tab will be created there. Why won't the Ctrl+Left click work when only one window is open?

When interactive pdf opens in browser window can the pdf links open in separate windows

Problem is the pdf works ok when it opens in the browser window, BUT the links in the pdf don't open in separate browser windows, as they do when the pdf is downloaded as a file.
If pdf links can only open in separate browser window when the pdf itself opens as a separate file, the how do I email a pdf download link on a website.

you can open PDFs as a guest user (without authentification):
1. Allow Guest Access (Admin -> Security Configuration -> Check "Allow Guest Access" and select a folder name).
2. Copy your Report into this guest folder
3. You can open the Report as PDF with a link like this:
http://(bip-server-name):9704/xmlpserver/(guest-folder-name)/(report-name)/(report-name).xdo?_xpt=0&_xf=pdf&_xmode=4(&report-parameters)

I didn't find an option to set the height of the PDF-Output for the guest user in the BIP-UI. Maybe I missed something. But you can manually edit the configuration file. It is located on your BIP server direcory in the subdirectory xmlp/XMLP/Users. Select the guest users subdirectory and edit the configuration file "user~.profile".
In this XML config file there is an entry "viewerHeight". In the Value-Tag you can enter the PDF output windows height in pixel (but unfortunaly not in % - this was the question of my original posting).

Firefox not Mac OSX Spaces friendly - There is no right click option to open a new window in the curent space.

Other browsers (Safari and Chrome) allow you to open a new window in the current space by right clicking the dock icon and choosing 'new window'. Firefox does not have this option in the right click. You must go to the other space that already has firefox open, create a new window there, and then drag it to the desired space. Please add the ability to launch a new window in the current space from the dock icon right click menu.

I have gone to the link that you supplied . In the task manager-- ending the entry for Firefox.exec did not resolve the problem.
I located my profile in the start menu In the run tab And entered %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\as instructed.
I received a cannot delete parent file is corrupted or unreadable. I then ran the Chkdsk (check disk )and tried the process again with no improvement . I have uninstalled Firefox, and redownloaded It. Still no improvement. I want my Firefox WHAAAAAAA

Is there a way to trigger a hyperlink to open it's content in a separate window?

You could use something like MassReplaceIt and do a find and replace:
find "area href" and replace with "a href", there are some more details and an example here.

Using Adobe Document Services PDF opening in separate window

With EP 7.0 SP13 and WebDynpro for ABAP we are using Adobe Document Services to create a Print Preview with a PDF. This is not an Interactive PDF. In most cases the functionality is working correctly. We have one user where the PDF opens in a separate window outside of the portal environment. When this happens the buttons we have added to the bottom of the PDF for event processing (return) are on the portal window, but unavailable to the PDF.
What would cause the PDF to open in a separate 'session' and not in the active portal session?

The problem was on the users workstation copy of Adobe. There is a parameter that allows the PDF to be opened in a separate window.

Photoshop opens a separate window every time i select edit original in InDesign

I'm running CS5 and have a problem when editing linked files from InDesign.
As an example:
• I have an InDesign file that has a Photoshop file linked to it.
• I need to edit the linked file so i use the 'Edit Original' function in the Links Panel - this open the link in Photoshop.
• I edit and save but leave the file open
• InDesign updates the change but i need to change something else
• I use 'Edit Original' again but instead of taking me straight back to the PSD file i was just working on, Photoshop opens a new window that i am supposed to make changes to
• If i was to make 5 changes, there would be 5 separate windows open in Photoshop
• Closing the file at the end of each change isn't an option as some Photoshop files exceed 1.5GB
Any suggestions...?

I'd expect a poweruser to go to their Keyboard preferencepane to enable standard F keys.
When you buy an Apple computer without loading it with software when would you use those keys? I can't think of one application that uses it, other than the obvious things like CTRL+F2 and the like that hardly anyone uses and I'd consider only there for strict keyboard jocks. After years of new computers having to disable the hide dock shortcut for feather it shouldn't be a crazy thing to expect someone to find their keyboard preferences if they demand that functionality. Heck, even Adobe just dropped that shortcut in CS4.
Either that or ask for apple to make 140 key keyboards.

Why does clicking a link open a new window with a spam site on it?

Happens randomly I will click a link that I want open on new tab it opens but a random site will open in a new window. These sites that open are spam sites that I do not want. I have uninstalled deleted firefox and reinstalled it nothing is fixing this issue. My other computer has the same problem. Does not happen all the time its just random sometime i dont even have to click a link and a new window will open with dating sites poker sites just crap I did not want opened.

Recomend getting adblock for firefox.
if you still get unrelated links you should consider scanning for Malware on you computer (this could be an installed program or an extension). I would recommend Malwarebytes as it is somewhat free to use.

The Problem: nothing I do will open Mail messages into a new window. None of the following have any visible effect: double-click on the message in the message list; select the message, context-click and choose "open"; select the message and choose File > "Open Message."
Mail is version 3.6 (936). FYI, I did rebuilt my Envelop Index. That file got slightly smaller but my "Can't open mail messages" problem didn't change.
