Click Wheel HELP...

My click wheel is not working,i'm confuse because when i do the MENU CENTER thing it works perfectly but i cant scroll thrugh my songs and click play..anybody know what i need to be doing? thanks in advance

It has been reported that Cell Phone emissions, while in a constant state of finding the next cell phone tower can and could cause EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference)to the IPODs Shielding if stored close together. Don't known if this is fact or myth. The subject has popped up on other forums however.
I have not seen this problem solved without tech support. It could also be simply a faulty click wheel.

4G iPods dead click wheel help

yesterday I was wiping down my ipod with isopropyl alchohol, usually that's what i use, but i think i used a bit more than usual on the napkin. later on went to use the pod, and the clickwheel wasn't letting me scroll. it only allowed me to select (FWD/RWD/SELECT/MENU/PLAY).
i thought maybe some alchohol got in there so I let it sit for a day maybe to dry up good, but it's still not working.
is my click wheel shot or can i fix this ?

Had the same problem. Tried everything. Took it to an apple store and one of their "genius"'s gave me a card for ipodmods.com. For 60 bucks and shipping, they're putting in a new click wheel. Free diagnostic also.

IPod with clicking wheel help needed

I went to turn on my iPod today and when i turned it on the Apple came up on the screen, but when it should have gone to the menu screen, the screen just shuts off. My ipod has a full charge and i use it almost everyday. Has anyone else experienced this or can anyone help me?

Hi I bought my U2 edition iPod about 2 years ago and now i regret it because you can now buy an updated version which shows videos and pictures. Is there anyway of updating my old version to a new version but withough breaking my bank balance - STUDENT ALERT lol.

You cannot update your ipod to have those features, the only form of discount you could recieve is 10% to trade your old ipod in and buy a new one at an apple store, and possibly a student discount on top of that

IPod 20GB 'Click Wheel' / Uninstalling iTunes 11. Wont Recognize. PLEASE HELP!!

Hi everyone.
Ok here's my situation.
Im using a MacBook Pro (Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5)
iTunes 11.4 (64Bit)
iPod 4th Gen. (White 20GB 'Click-Wheel')
After doing a system restore on my ancient dinosaur ipod 4th gen. (the white 20GB 'Click Wheel') and 'upgrading' to iTunes 11 i've had nothing but problems.
So now when i plug in my ipod it charges fine and even say's "Do Not Disconnect" *BUT* there is no 'on my ipod' button. I cant see my playlists, add songs, delete songs or anything! I just want to 'DOWNGRADE' my itunes and have everything how it was before. I find this to be a science project in itself and no amount of searching youtube videos gave me a clear answer, it only made me more afraid and confused of going forward with this.
I tried downloading 'sharepod' for MacBook Pro but this is pointless because it needs itunes to recognize the ipod for it to recognize the ipod. Ehh.
I did a 'system restore' on the ipod but when i went home where all my music is (on a windows PC) it said i have to do the restore again because it was restored on a MAC. So i did the restore again on my Windows PC (put all my music on it) and now i want to add songs from my MACBOOK Pro and its not even recognizing my ipod. Arrrgh the frustration i tell you!
Im done doing the system restore and i just want to add playlists now. Why is this soo difficult? Someone please help a newbie out. Im great with computers and feel like i honestly should have never upgraded the itunes in the first place because i feel this is what is causing my problem. I've heard the older gen. ipods dont work as well with the newer versions of itunes although im not sure if there is any truth to that or is it just rumors. Either way can somebody please take me on a step by step of what to do next? Please with a cherry on top?

I guess nobody else has had this problem?
Does anybody know if you can e-mail apple direct to express how useless their services are or even to try to get an explanation from them of how to correct the problem before i throw their ipod in the bin?

My i-pod nano 1st gen click wheel will not work i have tried restoring,restarting and all the 5 r's but still nothing has happened... there has to be a solution out there somewhere o yea i have also tried taking out the gunk in the click wheel but nothing HELP!

Version in the nano is 1.1; iTunes is 6.0.4.2.
This silly thing "healed itself" the next morning (?!), worked fine for two days, and decided to show the same symptoms this evening, then began working fine again.
Whether it is working or not I can feel the click of the wheel but unit shows no response when the problem is manifesting. So if I am having the problem I can press the wheel any which way for as long as I like and nothing happens -- screen does not light up, unit doesn't scroll, play/pause gives no response, etc.

Troubles with the Click Wheel (or whatever the "technical term" is) HELP!

My iPod works pretty well, except for the click wheel (or whatever you wanna call it). It scrolls fine, but when it comes to trying to press the menu button, or even sometimes when I try to press the play, forward or backward button, it seems to think I'm pressing the center select button instead, selecting something on the screen instead..
If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it! (I posted one earlier but I'm new at this and was told I should make the subject more specific..

When restoring the iPod, that erases everything on the iPod, correct? Would I then have to do all that stuff you have to do when you first get the iPod, like registration type stuff? Does this mean that everything in iTunes will be erased as well? (I have purchased a lot of music that is not on a CD..)

You won't believe this but a friend of mine (who happens to be an Apple Genius) told me to put a towel or cloth on a sturdy countertop (I know this may sound weird) but hold the selct button (in the center) and menu part of the wheel at the same time until an Apple logo comes up on the screen and then quickly turn the ipod on it's side and wack it on the counter where the towel is so as not to damage anything cosmetically. It seems the clicking is the hard drive reader is stuck and this dislodges it. Mine works now (no clicking) and all seems to be well again. Who knew?

Help!! Unresponsive Click Wheel!! nothing like i've ever seen...

Well, I recently got my iPod nano (2nd generation) back from my friend, who said "it wouldn't turn on anymore". I've restarted my iPod before, and i tried to when I got it, but it wouldn't turn on. So i waited about a week until he gave me my charger back. I connected it to my computer, and it had the Apple screen, and then started recharging. After a full charge, i disconnected it and tried listening to it, but the click wheel doesn't work!! I mean, i can roll the wheel around but when i try to click the center or even the sides it doesn't work!! Any ideas on what might be happening? Like I said, I can roll in the screen, like when you raise and lower the volume, but I cannot click. Oh, and I should mention that once in a while i get into my song's list, but without clicking any buttons. Then I press the "menu" button, and it works without fail. Help would be really appreciated!!

If you just got that nano under a year ago, say goodbye to your warranty before opening it up. You can also take it to an Apple Store to see if the Genius Bar can do something.

Click Wheel out of control!!! HELP

I recently got a white iPod Video 30GB and lately the click wheel is not responding as it should. It will not respond to the play/pause button and will sometimes do things on its own without me even touching it!!I have tried to reset it but it will not work and i have also downloaded the newest version of i-tunes
If i already have to newest version how do i reinstall it...will this remove all of my music?
Also if i try to restore it will all my songs remain in itunes or will they be erased also??

By any chance, when your click wheel goes out of control is a cellphone anywhere near the iPod, because some phones especially GSM phones are known to cause the volume limit indicator to go out of control. If you find out this is the problem, just simply remember not to have your phone and iPod close together.

Click Wheel Goes Berserk When Used With iHome.........HELP!

I got a new iPod about 1 or 2 months ago (my dog sort of "got" to my old one) Ever since I've started using it with my iHome the click wheel goes berserk. I try to select a song and it "skips" or "scrolls" around what i'm trying to select. I don't understand why my new one is doing this, my old one never did this to me. I can't stand it anymore. HELP!!

Hi, my name is Allie, i'm from Texas and just bought my iPod Nano (4gb) around Christmas.... it's been working fine up until yesterday when my Hold Switch quit working and my Click Wheel became inresponsive.... The ipod turns on when i reset it and plug it up to the computer (it will still update and everything) it's just not touch sensitive anymore.... I could possibly have gotten water damage to it but not much if any at all. Does anyone have any idea what happend or what I should do? *UPDATE- hold switch works, click wheel still inresponsive**.... any help would be greatly appreciated Thank you!

If you think you might have damaged your iPod with
water then that might be the reason why your click
wheel doesn't respond to your touch anymore.
Sending it back to Apple for repairs/replacement is
out of the question, warranty does not cover units
damaged by their owners.
You can try to restore it to factory settings using
iPod Updater.

Click wheel dosent respond I need help

I just bought a 20 gb i pod on ebay that was working when I bought it. For me to download songs I needed to restore it he was using mac and I use windows.So when I restored it it seems that every thing went fine but it is stuck on the language menu and the click wheel dosent work.I dont know what to do can some one please help it was working fine.

I think ill just go buy a microsoft zune bill gates shouldnt have this many problems! I still cant figure it out restored the dang thing 10 times already.I have even done a diagonistics test on i pod all green lights.i am going to try to drain battery to see if it helps.i have a bust buy gaurentee till 2008
