CLICK X = exit, close, shut down. Lr3.4 still running

First the backup said it could not complete because there wasn't enough space. That is not true but whatever...so I closed Lightroom for the computer was to be shut off. Then I checked the process monitor tool just by chance . What a surprise!.Lightroom was running along with high numbers and the available memory was extremely low....There was no other inidcation on the desktop or with the task manager that Lightroom was actually open and doing something with high activity..
Shut down the machine and of course the 'background software not shutting down, force close down' message appears. I just wait and that clears itself out. The machine shuts down.
Interesting that after that episode Lightroom ran smoothly that same day and the export action was smooth and correct. This included with the Mogrify plug in.
I've been casting an evil eye at Mogrify all this time and here it could be something else behind the scenes. When I started again that original backup was deleted and I did another because I couldn't be sure it was complete and without fault.
Basically, I have been able to export efficiently if I use a preset. Not so if the Export dialog box was loaded.....wait, screen flicker, transparent, Info box flashes on and off....text boxes run into one another and finally everything moves into place but don't scroll down to get to the bottom of the dialog for this stuff starts all over again. Setting a preset was an exercise in patience but required because presets work immediately.
Is this running on in the background and poor loading of the Export dialog box symptomatic of 'memory leak'?

Sometimes after an update, you may have to wait awhile for it to shut down. The other day I was about to force mine to quit after waiting around 2-3 minutes. Finally it shutdown. After rebooting, it's working fine now.
You maybe just didn't give it enough time to finish what it was doing before shutdown.

As the last post suggests, call Apple and order a replacement original disc for about $17. They will ask you the model and serial numbers.
Your retail version of Snow Leopard OS 10.6.3 will not work on that Mac as it requires a minimum of OS X 10.6.7 to boot and operate.
Another alternative is to again borrow another Mac to install your retail Snow Leopard into an external HD or partition, upgrade it to 10.6.8 and then clone it back to a partition on your MBP.

Are you uninstalling just iTunes? Because if so, you actually have to uninstall five separate programs, and THEN reinstall.

Macbook Air 11" shuts down after few minutes running

My Macbook Air 11" from mid 2012 shuts down after few minutes running, it is a laptop with very light use. The first time this happen was trying to upgrade to OS X Mavericks, after this I read it was maybe an overheating and definitely the case was hot, after this I placed the computer right in front the AC to finish the upgrade, finally I successfully upgrade the OS but the problem continue. I bring my Mac to service and now they said it is a Video Card problem, it doesn't make to much sense for me. Can somebody let me know if this could be a Video Card problem?

At what point is the shutdown occuring? As soon as you launch the install app?
If so, I would trash the install app file, and re-download it.
First, you might try running a Repair Permissions & a Verify Disk from the Recovery Partition. It is always a good idea to do this before any major software update/upgrade.

IMac goes into iPhoto Slide Show and won't exit unless shut down.

When I am in iPhoto it will sometimes (no patter) slip into slide show mode with music without my having done anything. It will play the slide show over and over and not let me exit unless I shut down. I made a slide show with music when I first got my computer and the slide show always plays this music (R.E.M. "Everybody Hurts"-no jokes please!), but the images can be of any photos I have on the computer. Last time it happened with my Last Import. Please help as the folks at Apples could only shrug their shoulders and tell me "Wow, never heard that before."

Take a look at these slide show control keys did you try these, also click on the settings icon in the lower right corner of the slide show and make sure the repeat slide show check box is unchecked. (This applies to iPhoto 11)

Updated itunes then restored my pc and now I can't sync my iphone. Every time I try clicking on something itunes shuts down

I tried updating my itunes and it stopped working so I restored my pc to before the update but now I can't sync my iphone to it. It keeps saying I need to sync but it wont and everytime I try clicking on something the side bar it shuts down.

Cancel that... I uninstalled Quicktime and it started working. Will cross the reinstalling of quicktime down the track I suppose... thanks again

Is the W520 supposed to whirrr and click even when completely shut down?

I just received my W520 (#4270CTO) about 3 weeks ago. This is my first laptop (to be used for video editing and animation), so I'm not sure what to expect.
I noticed that when I shut down the W520 (go to "Start" select "shutdown"), it continues to make a very faint whirrr and click noise. The noise pattern goes like this: long whirrrr, click, short period of silence, then it repeats. It does this all the time when the computer is turned off. Even when I don't use the computer for 2 days, and it is turned off, it continues to whirr and click. It only stops when I disconnect the battery and reinstall it. Only then, is it completely silent.
Is it supposed to do that (the whirr and click all the time)?
The whirr and click noise is very soft, so you have to lift it up and listen to it but it is audible. My friend says that it is the hard drive noise, and said it should not be doing that, but he doesn't have a W520, and isn't familiar with it. So I thought I should ask someone else who has one to see if theirs is doing the same thing.
I also noticed that the fingerprint reader LED stays lit all the time except for when the computer is on and I'm using it. It stays green even when the computer is shut down and the lid is closed.
Please help. Is my W520 working properly, or should I call for tech support?

The power brick makes no noise. I am charging the battery now, and the power brick is warm but silent.
I've only noticed the noise coming from the underside of the computer when my W520 is turned off with the battery still attached.
If I remove the battery and reinstall it, the noise stops.
If I plug in the power brick, the noise stops. (The brick doesn't even have to be plugged into a wall socket. I could just plug the power brick into the computer without plugging in the other end to a power supply.)
Of course, if I remove the battery the noise also stops.
But if I use the W520, then shut it down and leave the battery attached, it will continue to make the faint long whirrr and click noise. I have let it sit without turning on the machine for 3 days, and it continued to make the soft noise every day.
I don't suppose your computer makes the same noise. Maybe my computer really is defective. It works great otherwise.

I want to send and recieve messages in the same application. I'm using embedded broker, here's the brokerConfig.xml

</beans>I send and receive messages in the separate classes and each one creates its own connection. In the sender class when I call the method queueConnection.close() it shuts down the broker.
How can I keep the broker to recieve messages in the receiver class by it's own connection?

Unless its a really old version I'm a little in the
dark. The code to close the embedded broker only
fires when there are no more connections open; so
provided each class has its own connection you should
be fine.
Note could this be a timing issue? Are you closing
the connection of the sender before the receiver
creates its connection?You're right. I think the problem is just there. I didn't know that the broker will close when there are no more connections open.
Another option is just to explicitly create a broker
yourself in Java code; then you are in control of its
lifecycle.

OS6 Apps close / shut down

I have recently successfully downloaded and installed the new OS 6 o my iPhone 4S, it ran great for 2 days and there after battery life decreased by 6 hours, all applications including email, contacts, calendar and other close instantly without errors. I am not sure what this is, but if obviously comes from the newly installed OS 6 as the 5.1.1 was fine.
I have rebooted the phone numerous times, hard boot and normal shut down, and none has worked.
The second iPhone i have is exactly the same, went through the same process and it work 100%.
It is becoming immensly frustrating not be able to open anything on the phone before it just closes and shuts down apps and the battery used to last well over 8 hours after calls and browsing, now, 2 hours max and it dies.
I have not yet restored the phone via iTunes, maybe there is another solution before going that route?
Please assist.

Check your multi-tasking area and see if you have a lot of apps there. It sounds like you may have too many there taking up RAM. Close them out (place your finger on one until they all wiggle then touch the "x" on each one to actually close it.

Windows Explorer shuts down when trying to run Quicktimes

We are using Quicktime 6 Player on PCs running Windows 2000 Professional. Whenever you try to run a Quicktime movie from the Explorer browser, it shuts down along with Quicktime!!!
In addition, we cannot copy or move Quicktimes from one folder or drive to another without both software packages shutting down. The Quicktime movies are varied and are themselves not bad files. The only way I have found that allows me to run, copy or move Quicktimes is to work within Start/Run/Browse and doing a bunch or Right Clicking!!!
We are all up to date in regards to Windows Updates, so I am at a total loss as figuring out what the fix is. Any ideas? gsarahs

The reports where developed in the current version.
There isn't any other version installed on the machine.
I only have Crystal Reports Developer XI installed on 1 machine in the office. The reports are loaded in the Business Objects Management Console and available for other office staff to run from the Business Objects Viewer. The reports run OK from the viewer.
I have tried un-installing Crystal Reports Developer XI and re-installing it already - the problem still occurred.
There are a number of faulty reports, some query 1 database others only 1 database, some have SQL tables others do not, most of them have subreports, formula fields, parameter fields, and group name fields, 1 also has a running total field.
Most of the reports I have created are similar but have different selections.
