Clickable ads in PDF

I am making clickable ads within a PDF that I am going to post on my company's website. I have been successful with all of the ads but one. When I type the url in and then I try to click on the ad it has somehow added more words, that look like the path to where the ad is stored on my computer, to the url and it comes back saying the website cannot be found. Any ideas on how to just make it use the url I am typing in and not add the additional words?

Thanks for your help. I seem to have figured it out. It was simply that I needed to add an "http://" at the front of the url. None of the other ads required this, but the one that wasn't working did. Not sure what the difference was, but it's working now. Thanks again for your help!

  • InDesign to PDF  - Client wants clickable ads

I'm laying out a magazine with ads in InDesign CS4 that will be converted to PDF for online distribution.
The client would like the reader to be able to click on the ads to be taken to the advertiser's website. I'm not making up the ads myself; I'm just placing provided image files.
How would this be accomplished either in InDesign or in Acrobat?  I'm striking out on searches, since I don't know what the feature is called.
    Thanks for your help,

You can easily do this in the already created PDF providing you use Acrobat
    Pro...I assume you do.
Open the Adavanced Editing tools, and select the Link tool. From there you can
marquee whatever area you wish to be the hotspot clickable area to trigger a
action...the actions include open a webpage amoun other options.

  • How can I make links clickable on all PDF viewers/readers?

I have an InDesign document that's been built to be 'interactive' when printed as a PDF: along the top of each page are links that allow you to skip ahead in the document to specific pages. The links are created using boxes over the relevant text that are set up in an alternate layer of the Indesign document. The links just take the reader to a specific page of the PDF - not to an element on a page. There are minimal images - one on the cover and a logo on every page. It's mainly text.
The links open in the PDF when viewed in Acrobat, and also on on Mac Book (it looks great!), but they don't open on iPads or other devices (and it looks like a complete dud when viewed this way). Are there some settings I can change/use to make my document 'clickable' from all readers?
I'm very far ahead with this project and need to publish it urgently. I wasn't aware of this issue previously. Any suggestions/solutions gratefully received. Just to clarify - the links are mostly internal. I just need people to be able to jump around within the document.

You cant transfer interactivity to a PDF when you print to PDF as you have written.
PDFs have to be exported so that interactivity will live inside the PDF. Of course you have to set up links in the Hyperlink Panels.
But not every reader is supporting interactivity. URL are supported from Reader and Apple iBooks. But you can't force the user to use a certain application anyway.

  • Is there a way to re-size to a smaller portion when creating clickable links on pdf?

    Hello everyone,
I am not sure if I will be clear on what I need, but I'll try my best.
I am currently doing a prayer book for my mom's website and need to add clickable links in the menu (so it will be more easy for the readers to simply click to go to the prayer they want to see). However, some  of the prayers don't take a whole full page and I would like to know if it is possible to re-size to a smaller zone in the page so they can only see the prayer and not the other one following it?
I have tried to resize the red square in the left side of the pdf but it doesn't change anything as it goes only diagonally and not vertically, which results in still seeing the other prayer that comes after the one I want to link to.
Can someone assist me on this? It will be much appreciated.

When you create the link choose the radio button for "Go to a Page View".
Then, when you see the dialog for Create Go To View, leave this dialog open and go to the page you want to link to and zoom into the area you want to magnify.
Once you have the magnification you're looking for, click on the Set Link button.

  • Does Keynote allow you to create clickable links in pdf files yet?

I searched the forum and found a similar question that was asked back in 2005, and with newer versions of Keynote now available I hope I'm not posting a duplicate question here.
I would like to be able to use iWork's Keynote to make small, business-type cards for downloads as .pdf files and I'd like to include a clickable website url or email link, if possible.
How about doing this in Pages? I haven't used pages yet but I presume you can save the files as pdf's?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
An afterthough - if I need Acrobat to do this is there a large learning curve involved?
I see many 'Viral eBooks' and brochures being created for and by PC users, and when I download them the links are clickable on the Mac. You see lots of programs for PC's being advertised that are supposed enable you to to this, but none for the Mac. I'm hesitant to invest in Acrobat as I only want to do one or two business card type pdfs with clickable links.

    Hi Annie,
I ran a quick test and Keynote exported a slide with both a clickable link to an email address and a website. After printing to PDF (command-P/Save as PDF), there were no clickable links.
As far as I know, you need at least Mac OS X 10.4.4 for this to work, and of course Keynote 3.

    Hi Francesco,
I have the same problem here. The first click on the button download gives a PDF file which is less in size than desired.
I cannot figure out whether it is a problem with the code being used OR some configuration settings in Adobe Document Services (ADS).
    Any help is welcome !

  • Is ADS and PDF forms required for an upgrade to ECC 6.0 for US Payroll?

We're currently on SAP 4.7 for US Payroll, but are working on an upgrade to ECC 6.0. I'm looking for a clear answer to whether or not we have to move to Adobe Document Services and PDF forms with our upgrade. I've heard from several sources that SAP is not providing updates to SAPscript forms in ECC 6.0 and will only make updates to PDF based tax reporter forms going forward. Can anyone comfirm that is the case?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Clickable Button in PDF File

Sorry for the duplicate post, but I'm not sure which forum to
    ask this is...
I have some old PDF files that have buttons on them that,
when clicked hide, and show when the mouse is released. These are
for bank of questions I use for my business. I am trying to figure
out how they were created. Basically it is a button that is visible
and hides the answer. When clicked it hides, showing the answer.
When the mouse is released, the button shows up again, hiding the
    answer.
Not sure what software was used to do this. Any ideas? Sorry
if I am in the wrong area, but I have spent a lot of time in the
Microsoft NewsGroups before but never here.
I would be happy to send anyone a sample file to show what I
would like to do. Reason I need this is because these files are
updated every six months and I need to recreate this feature.
    TIA!

  • Links Not Working/Not Clickable in Exported PDFs? FIXED!

If you, like me, use Pages to create doc s and then export them to PDFs, the non-working links are a pain. But, after 20 minutes of playing around, I found a fix!
    1. In the new version of Pages, export your document to a Word doc. Save it soemwhere on your computer.
    2. Right-click on that Word doc in the Finder, Choose Open With > Pages (4.1) [Or just open Pages 4.1 yourself, then use File > Open and choose that new Word doc]
    3. The old version of Pages opens your doc. Choose File > Export... and choose PDF. File will save where you choose, links active and working just like old times.
This is my first discussions post and hope it's useful! Let me know that it wokrs for any of you.

I, too, have been struggling to resinstate hyperlinks in PDF documents made from Pages - or even to create links within Preview. All this used to work fine until my recent upgrades, and I used it a lot.
So far I have found that links seem to work in PDFs created in the new Pages 5.0.1 but only in the first page of a document, whereas PDFs made from the old Pages 4.3 (iWork '09) seem to fare rather better.
So I suppose the conversion back to 4.3 would be a sensible course of action. Intriguingly, 5.0.1 does not seem to have replaced 4.3 on my hard drive, even though I trashed the icon for it on my Applications folder (before I realised that I would still need it)!
Apple doesn't seem to have made any statement about this so far, apart from a promise to restore functionality to Pages, but there does seem still to be a problem with Preview, or perhaps with the OS itself. I can't add links directly to PDFs in Preview. And even links created in Microsoft Word are not carried over into PDFs - not even on the first page.
I continue to experiment, but am frustrated by the loss of such an important and useful facility. Preview used to do most of what I needed for sharing documents; now it is sadly inadequate. Apple has boobed badly here.

But throws this error when run on the portal which uses HTTPS. We have configured HTTPS in visual administrator (services->destination->HTTP). But still the same issue.

  • Error when creating Clickable PDF

Has anyone come across what's noted below in the header when creating a clicable PDF? I create clickable PDFs using Adobe PDF tool through Word. The strange thing is that it doesn't appear on all the pages - that is the 220B alongside the header text. When I create a standard pdf, it's fine it only does this when creating a clickable PDF. I tried copying one of the headers that was a good one over the ones where this "code" appears but that didn't work. Would so appreciate if anyone has any idea why this would be happening and how I can fix this issue. Would so appreciate it!!

Thanks for getting back to me. Sorry, clickable meaning a PDF where there are links. The document is created in Word, formatted so there are links/cross references throughout so when a user selects that link it would bring them over to that desired section or page. I then create a PDF from this word file using the Adobe tool to create it where you specify the heading levels to be used as bookmarks and including the links in the PDF. Once that's run, the PDF (clickable PDF) is created and that's where I ran into the trouble where odd text was included inthe header. Hope that helps.
    Thanks agian.

  • Manipulate plain pdf files with ADS

    Hi experts,
We are struggling with following requirement:
Within a webdynpro application plain pdf files (transferred dayly to the servers file system) may be accessed and viewed.
The pdf should be viewed without any rights to print and save.
The trouble is - the pdf files are printable and saveable but can not be manipulated before this step.
We are using NW 7.01 and WD for Java.
To solve this we configured ADS an tried to convert the PDF using the clientserver.adobe.pdfdocument.api.
Yet we found no way to rewrite our pdf files with the api.
Looking through serveral forums did not give us a hint.
Are we going the wrong way?
Did we assume falsely that we can manipulate plain pdf files via ADS?
    Thanks' and kind regards,
    Horst

    Hi Dezso,
thank you for this information! So don't need to invest more time in research.
As I understand the ADS is designed for forms and workflow stuff.
On the other hand to have such a powerfull tool like ADS which can not perform such simple actions like manipulation of non ADS generated pdf appears to me quite sad.
@Otto: As stated above - take a (non ads generated) pdf (e. g. from file system), add/remove rights and view it in a WD. No need of interactive form, template or data if not necessary.
    Best regards,
    Horst

  • Hyperlinks are dead when Pages file is exported as a PDF

When I export a file from Pages '09, version 4.0.5, to a PDF file, the hyperlinks do not work. The Pages help menu states "Hyperlinks in your Pages document are exported to the PDF file. Hyperlinks are also created in the PDF file for table of contents entries, footnotes and endnotes, webpages, email addresses, and bookmarks." I am opening the PDF files in Acrobat Reader. What is the problem here?

  • Making a PDF usable as a Ordering tool

I have an excessively large catalog that is both printed, and cut into sections for posting on our website.
Each section is accessable through various links on our website, depending on what your looking for. We have a shopping cart on our website, but it is rudimentary at best and you have to fill in the part numbers and other important information yourself. It is at current, not tied to the pdf's that are created.
We would like to streamline this and use the pdf we currently create as an online catalog with the ability to order from.
Say someone is looking for a certain cutting unit... (in the golf course maintenance business). This individual can go to the link to the section that is pertinent to their needs. Find the cutting unit, then click on the part number, price, or a button out to the side to add to cart. Then be able to go to a DIFFERENT section of the book for something else, add something from that section to the cart that was created from the first selection of the cutting unit.
This sounds like something that is completely plausable to me, but I have not one clue how to impliment this with the use of the PDF's we are creating.
Can someone help me and point me in the right direction of the information i'm needing to complete this task? Or is this even possible?
Thank you to all in advance.
    Dkennedy

I have found how to make links in InDesign clickable in the PDF, which I can use for the button to add things to a cart.
Thank you all for your help.
But I have one question that the answer seems a bit further in the programming end then I am aware of. At least I think it is. Someone please clear it up if it's possible.
    Question:
Can I submit information WITH the mouse click. Like say, I click on the part number for a mower. The number is R32456. (example)
Is it possible when I click on that part number, that the number automatically fills in on the shopping cart so server side it can be used to que up the price and description? My IT person says he can get it to do that on his end, I just need it to send the number from my end! Is there anyhelp in this? (yes this is from the PDF).

  • Links don't work when I export to .pdf

I am using the newest version of Pages (5.1).  I updated some old documents from Pages '09 and made some edits to them.  Then I exported them to .pdf and in Preview (7.0) none of the links are clickable!  They show up as blue and underlined, but cannot be clicked.
When I create new documents in Pages 5.1 the same thing happens - if I insert links, they are not clickable in the .pdf.  But if I write www.website.com in the text and Pages converts that to a link, that link does work in .pdf format.
I did fine one workaround - I export the Pages 5.1 doc to Pages '09.  Then from Pages '09 export to .pdf.  Then the links are intact.  But I would love to figure out how to have it work from Pages 5.1

    In Pages '09:
Right click to select link > Link Inspector > change URL > and it works in pdf
    or
single click on link > takes you to url/bookmark/document/email
    In Pages 5
click on link > click on edit or open > change URL > set its type url/email > doesn't work in pdf
I prefer 3 steps vs 4, with more options, that actually work.
    or
    2 clicks to test it.
The later is a pest in Pages 5 because you don't get the expected click on link goes to link.
