Clickable Bounding Box, Rather than Graphic

I have built a series of buttons that overlay each other to
form a map of a country. Clicking the correct country is the goal
for the user. The countries are in odd shapes. My problem is that
the square bounding box of the graphic is the clickable area. Can I
make only the graphic clickable and how???

Yes
You should change the "hit" state of the button's timeline.
You can put whatever shape you need there (in this case the
country's boundary) to become the button's clickable area.

New tabs open Google homepage correctly but with cursor in text box rather than search box.

I have Google as my home page. When I open Firefox 7.0.1 the Google home page opens correctly with the cursor in the search box. I have set new tabs to also open in the home page. New tabs do open in Google but with the cursor in the text box rather than the search box. As I recall, this didn't happen before upgrading to 7.0.1 (actually, I think that I was using a tab configuration plug-in that may have been nuked in the Firefox update). This is driving me crazy, is there a solution for 7.0.1?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Bounding box of a Graphic object

Hi,
How can we obtain bounding box of the graphic object generated by fill etc.,
i tried with "pathbbox" it will provide the exact x,y position but iam not able to get the height and width of the object.

pathbbox gives the bounding box of the current path (subject to the limitations on curves described). I am not sure why you say you can't get width and height.

Double clicking brings up selection box rather than highlighting words

This is a bit of a trivial problem but it's making my editing quite difficult. I'm using Acrobat X 10, with Windows 7.
Normally when I double click on some text, the word that I am double clicking on will become highlighted. This continues to be the case except for in one specific pdf document: now double clicking opens a selection box rather than highlighting text. If I single click I can highlight whatever text I want, but double clicking no longer highlight a particular word. This is very incumbersome for my annotating/highlighting technique. It only happens with this one pdf, any other pdf and the selection tool is back to normal.
Any idea why this is happening for this one particular pdf, but none of the others, or any way that I can make it highlight words via double clicking again?
Edit: On further inspection, the problem seems to be that for this particular document, acrobat reader cannot detect specifc words, only individual characters. When I highlight a sentence, normally the text highlighted would naturally jump to the end of the word, but here it will only start/stop where I begin and end dragging the cursor. I have used the Recognise Text tool, but this did not fix the problem as it said it had already recognised the text throughout the document.

Can you use the "Prompt" section of the Property Palette instead and leave Label as null. Prompts can be aligned to the left, but, without trying it in Forms 4.5, am unsure about your highlight issue.

Illustrator file contains pdf text rather than graphic

When I open an illustrator file I created about a year ago I now get a file that is filled with text saying:
This is an Adobe® Illustrator® File that was
saved without PDF Content.
To Place or open this file in other
applications, it should be re-saved from
Adobe Illustrator with the "Create PDF
Compatible File" option turned on. This
option is in the Illustrator Native Format
Options dialog box, which appears when

When I follow the instructions it literally saves the warning text that is shown, and there is no graphics.
When I try to "place" the file into a new illustrator file the preview shows my graphic, but when it is place it is just the repeating message.
Has anyone seen this or know a work around to get my graphic back

Looks like the file is corrupt.
Either you didn't save it with PDF compatibility or both parts of the file got corrupted.
When following the instructions did you save it under a different name or did you overwrite the existing file?
If you overwrote it, then your file is most probably gone forever. If you still have the original file you could try and recover it using third party tools. See a list of tools inthis post by Jacob Bugge: Re: How to recover an Illustrator CS2 file that crashed, with Illustrator CS5.5 ?

Firefox always opens with a search box rather than my homepage.

I have dragged the icon over to the homepage icon, and responded "yes" that I want to set it as my homepage. It always opens with a search box instead. http://www.searchqu.com/406 is the URL. How can I get it to use my homepage?

i ran into a simuler problem using firefox 4 with win 7. browser would not display web address and when you open the browser it would display a blank page. also back, forward, and refresh button's where grayed out and could not click hem.
after checking plugins i was able to get it working with disableing java deployment toolkit.

Why does my chart build as a white box rather than a line in slideshow?

In creating a line chart, no matter which master theme I use, whenever I select "wipe" as my build, it looks great in the build preview window, but when I view play slideshow, a white box replaces my chart. Sure, I could use other build options, but when you're trying to represent the volatility of the stock market, wipe is the only one that truly works. Any ideas?

Thanks for responding. I'm using Keynote 3.0.1 and OS X 10.3.9. In addition, each time I try to send the file to someone else to see if they're having the same problem, they can't open any of my files (I've created several versions) because it tells them they are damaged. Wondering if I need a newer, faster computer?

The "Far Far Away" title is displaying a white box rather than the entered text. Is there any way to restore the title code so that it works properly?

The "Far Far Away" title (which I have used quite frequently) has stoped working and just displays a white box where the text should be displayed.
Has anyone else experienced this problem or have a suggestion as to a resolution. This is in IMovie '11 Version 9.0.8.

Yes, I've considered adding titles and/or generators in the FCPX storyline, but this creates a need to render the entire timeline. As I'm juggling library locations and hard drive spaces I just didn't want to add a new render that will occupy a lot of space. It's also a bit of visual clultter for me, so my goal is to find the best workflow for adding this stuff on or after export.

When converting pdf to tif, I sometimes get black boxes rather than text.

This occurs with pdfs which are rendered one 'layer' at a time upon opening or panning, although I don't beleive they are layered. No layers display in the navigation pane. I don't know the original file format, could be dwg. Do you know how to correct this, or does Adobe have a converter which will do the job correctly? Thanks.

Firefox logo appears in a white box rather than using the background like 3.6

I just installed Firefox 4.0.on my xp sp3 laptop. My desktop, quick launch and startmenu Firefox icons are all on a white background. On the change page it says that the Firefox logo was updated, but I could not find a description of the update. How can I change the Firefox logo to a transparent background?
When I search the user area how do I make the search so that both words are in the results?

The search engine that is used on the location bar and on the about:home page is the search engine that is selected in the search Bar on the Navigation Toolbar.
You can install the Keyword Search extension to specify with search engine to use for the location bar and which search engine to use for the about:home page via the Options/Preferences windows of this extension, accessible via the about:addons page.

Text box - I hit return and it exits rather than starts a new line or point

Ok so I'm a very basic user of indesign, and we are still on CS2, but can someone please help with this. I start a new text box, and type - the wrapping works, but if I want to start a new line or do a bullet list , hitting the return key exits the text box, rather than starting a new line. I cant find anywhere to alter the formatting. Have tried resetting to basic paragraph format.

This is more common on laptops than I would have imagined. If you like having the numlock on, you'll probably want to remap the numpad enter.
Turn on numlock, then Edit > Keyboard shortcuts... Set the product areae at the top to Type Menu and scroll down to Insert Break Character: Paragraph return. Click in the new shortcut field and hit the numpad enter key, then change the context field from default to text. You'll have to save this as a new custom set and select it for use. Both enter keys should now work with numlock on or off to insert a paragraph break. You can creat a new shortcut for the column break if you like at the same time.

If you can't see it, it means that you're trying it on the background layer in which case, double click on it in the Layers panel(not on the thumbnail or the name) and click OK to turn it into a normal layer and try again

Mail - Listing new messages at the top rather than the bottom

How can I ensure that messages sent appear at the top of the dialogue box rather than the bottom as people keep complaining they have to scroll all the through all the old messages to see the new message. It's probably quite obvious but not to me or anyone else I know!!!

Perhaps I didn't explain myself properly - it's the messages themselves, not the order that they arrive. For example, if I write and reply to a person several times about the same matter I and the recepient have to scroll through all the earlier texts to get to the latest message. I want the latest message to appear first in the order that I write in reply or view not at the bottom - I hope that is clearer and you know a solution.

AC3 Collison detection inside a movie clip (rather than with its bounding box)

I want to navigate a maze and therefore I want to create collison detection with the maze itself, but when I try the collison is made with the entire maze movieclip, so even if my character is safe in a corridor without touching the walls of the maze it still counts as collisons.
Is there a way to detect collison with the content iside the movieclip rather than it's bounding box?

How do I ensure user name is shown rather than 'another user' on the 'File in Use' dialog box?

How can I ensure user names are shown rather than just 'another user' on the 'File in Use' dialog box that appears when attempting to edit a checked out document in Microsoft Word/Excel?
All suggestions welcome.

If I recall correctly, that dialog is generated by the Office client product supporting that file type. There would be no way to modify it.
