Clicking a button set to open url is skipping pause in slide

Hey there! I must be missing something that's right under my nose... I have two transparent buttons over images on a slide who's actions are set to Open URL or file with infinite attempts. I also am using back and next arrows with click boxes to continue and go back. The click box over the next arrow is set to pause the project until it is clicked. What is happening, though, is that when I play the project, clicking the buttons not only open the URL in a new window, as set, they also cause the project to continue to the next slide.
What am I doing wrong? Am I going about this the wrong way?

Hi there
Look at the properties where you direct the link to a new window. There is an option there that governs whether a pause is released or not.

So, I'm on Firefox 6.0.2 and my middle mouse button no longer opens urls in new tabs.
It closes them, reopens old ones fine, just no longer opens links in new tabs.

Try the Firefox SafeMode. <br />

If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

When link is opened by clicking middle button, it appears in tab toolbar;but when opened via left button (set to open in new tab) it is not shown - hidden under BACK key? I'd like left clicked tabs shown. & use mid.button for Enter.

No. The Tab bar is a regular toolbar in current Firefox versions, so you get the normal right-click context menu of a toolbar if you right-click the tab bar.
You can double click on empty space on the tab bar to open a new tab if you do not want to use the new tab button.<br />
You can drag a link on that new tab button to open that link in a new tab.<br />
You can also drag the new tab button on another toolbar if you would like that better.<br />
Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"<br />

Button is not opening URL in a new window

I have set the action and the URL and the NEW window ...but nothing opens in Preview or once published...can you help me?

How to supress alert "There is no application set to open URL *custom_protocol*://-" on Safari 7.0

There are no any problems with Safari 6.1, Firefox and Chrome. To supress alerts(application not yet installed) I'm using something like this

After execution of line "pom.click();" pop-up message shows anyways. Any ideas?

I think that was a URL format that Apple was using for the App Store, but I don't think they are anymore. Something is trying to go to the Contract Killer: Sniper game on the iTunes Store.
Given that it is a malformed URL and it happens at startup, you might want to investigate your Mac for Adware:

Double-clicking Home button doesn't open camera

When I double-click the Home Button with lock screen, I get "iPod" controls (right-facing wedge to "resume" music/video) rather than the camera, as the Quick Start brochure with the iPhone 4S says I should get to use the camera quickly. Any ideas of what I should do to fix this? Thanks.

You should also see the camera icon in the lower right hand corner of the screen next to the (shorter) swipe to unlock. Double clicking alone does not launch the camera.

Click Box - Open URL's

I created a Captivate project. At the end of the project the
user has 3 options that I created Click Boxes for.
Option 1 - Return to the start of the video and watch again.
Option 2 - Click Next to view the next video
Option 3 - Click to schedule an on-line demo
These click boxes are set to pause until clicked with
Infinite attempts.
Option 1 jumps to slide 1 and works fine.
Option 2 - Is set to Open URL or file -

If I preview project, these links work correctly (option 2
will show file not found since the video hasn't been posted yet).
When I publish the file and play the flash, both the Option 2
URL and Option 3 URL's open at the start of the swf file. I have
never had this happen before. I have looked at the publish
preferences to see if something there is kicking off the start, but
I don't see anything that would cause this.
Can anyone help me..... This project is already overdue.

I selected the click box properties for Option 2 and Option
3. I selected New and I also De-Selected continue running project.
This is producing the same results.
I publish a zip file that includes an .html, .swf and .js. In
not using any project skin and testing components. When I double
click on the swf, the url links for Option 2 and Option 3
automatically open with the swf.
So basically I have 3 windows open. The swf file, and 2 IE
windows one with the url address for option 2 and one with the url
address for option 3.
These should not open until the user gets to the file slide
of the swf and selects one of the click boxes to activate the url
link.
I have been all over these forums and one suggested I put the
text "url:" before the
http:// link --- I tried that and the swf file
and 2 IE windows still opened upon the start up.
Just for additional information - these are my publish
preference settings for Start/End Project -
Project START Options -
Loading screen - unchecked, Password protect project -
unchecked, Password expiration date - unchecked, Fade in on first
slide - unchecked
Project END Options
Action - Close Project, Fade out at last slide - unchecked.
Any idea what to do from here?

Xcode question. Need to open an app from clicking a button! Please help!!!!

Hello, I am new to this forum so sorry if this is in the wrong spot. I'm trying to make a simple Xcode app, so that when people click a button, it will open another app, such as an AppleScript, which will run a code in Terminal. So for instance, click "Make my Mac speak" Then it would open the AppleScript and Terminal would pop open and run the code " say Hello, my name is Macintosh". Thats just an example of what I'm trying to do. Please can someone help me. I don't need help with the AppleScript part, just getting Xcode to open the AppleScript. Thank you!

Problem with opening URL (articulate) file in Captivate 3

Hi,
I created a Captivate 3 file, hoping to link an Articulate .html file if I click on a button.
I created a text button:
On success: open URL or file
URL: Z:\Tutorial\WebsiteTutorialReviewandSurvey_09_03_10\quiz.html
If I publish this file, I am able to play this file on my computer or any computer that is mapped to this drive. However, when I open the file on other machines, where this drive is not mapped, then the file cannot be opened. The file will be sent to other users who will not have access to my local drives, so I'm not sure how to set up my URL directory.
Can someone please help???
- is it the directory? "Z:\"
- I've also changed that to start off as \\servername\Tutorial\WebsiteTutorialReviewandSurvey_09_03_10\quiz.html = this also does not work

'Open URL or file' - how to use a relative file path?

I have a click box on a slide that I want to use to open an instance of a file (ie a PDF, a JPG, etc) in a new window, then when the user closes the window the Captivate demo continues.
My plan is to distribute this file with the published project and have it sit in the same folder as the project files.
I think that I have worked out all the processes to do this except how to correctly set up the click box. In the click box properties I have 'Open URL or file' on success, but how to enter the information in the URL text box is challenging me. An absolute path to the file on my computer works fine. Can I specify a relative path so Captivate defaults to using a file stored in the same folder as the published project?
I have attached a sample of the file I want to use.

Open URL or File Action not working (Captivate 7)

I have written dozens of training courses using Captivate that employ buttons to open PDF documents (supporting documentation). I am currently coding smart shapes as buttons, specifying the Open URL or File action, or by executing an advanced action to do the same. The documents are found in a subfolder (documents), so the URL/File target is: \documents\<file name>. Same syntax that I have used for several years. However, once published using Captivate 7, these buttons no longer work. I have exhausted my methods for opening files without success. Any ideas?
BTW, I am publishing as .exe, so the SWF security snafu should not be the issue.

The issue has been fixed in the patch released in November. The latest version is 7.0.1.237.

I guess you need to publish your file again after you apply the patch and test it once to ensure everything works fine.

i have loaded my swf in an html/ aspx page. when i click a button in html page, i want to pause my swf movie. Actually swf has another movie clip i want to stop that. any option pls help me. possible send me some sample coadings.. i tried with externalInterface but no result..
or if i click a button in html page, i want to run a function existing in loaded swf....

URL Link to Specific SWF Slide

Is it possible once a Captivate 2 project has been exported
to HTML/SWF to have a URL link open the SWF file to a specific
slide number? For example if a Captivate 2 project is 20 slides
long, the user could click a link that would open the swf file to a
specific slide in the middle, say slide 10. Or can the html coding
that opens the Captivate 2 exported SWF file be set to open the
file to a specific slide? I am trying to avoid breaking up a multi
scene file just so users can access one or two slides and not have
to navigate through an entire file.

It's pretty simple to do with JavaScript actually and Philip Hutchison just released the latest version of his "Captivate Controller" a couple of days ago.
This allows you to control Captivate 2,3 & 4 movies from JavaScript commands in a simple and non-technical way.

How do i set the home button to refresh open tabs instead of opening new ones each time i click on it

Everytime i click on the "home" button, FF 3.6 opens my three home pages as three new tabs. If i click twice, it opens three more. In IE, if i click the home button i have a choice to either refresh the three tabs starting with which ever one is open (for example, if my second tab page is where I am, that becomes home page #1 and so forth) OR i can select the specific home page i want to return to via a drop down.
At a minimum, I'd like to set my home button to just open using currently open tabs and not appending. It must be possible b/c DH's FF browser does not do this. What am I missing?

The best way to keep your home page in the tab is to open other links in a new tab with a middle-click.<br />
Clicking the home page always open a new set, so you would have to close the current tabs first to prevent getting multiple home page sets.<br />
I don't know if there is still an extension that can open the home pages and replace the current set.
