Clicking in Sculpture

Oi,
I'm running a macpro 2.66 1gb RAM + logic 7.2.2 and when i use sculpture i get a clicking when i switch to different pad presets and such...not on all of them, just maybe one or two....my audio device is a MOTU ultralite....and i'm not thinking its the CPU or a latency issue...but more than likely a RAM issue...is having a gig not enough? And if not, where is the best place to pick up ram?

Are the drivers for your MOTU up to date? I sometimes get popping like this as well, but not with presets. Usually when stopping and starting playback. Restarting the Core Audio engine seems to do the trick most of the time for me.

Clicking/distorted sounds from Sculpture

Hi there, I have been having some problems with Sculpture.
In particular when using "The Dark Land" synth. I hear small distorted noises when playing the synth as if there are some excess frequencies? I have tried hi and low pass filters and EQ'ing but I even hear the "clicking" sound on my high quality audio speakers? I have a feeling it's a very simple preset I am overlooking...

Hi,
Sculpture is a very advanced (spell: c o m p l i c a t e d) synth in some ways. Some results may be very strange if you don't understand how the sound is created. For example: If you hit the same key twice, sculpture will simulate a second strike (or hit or blow or whatever) to the same string that is already resonating from the first hit. This is like a real instrument, when you hit a key on a piano twice, you will hit a string that is already in motion, and maybe this second hit sounds totally different - depending on the circumstances. On a Fender Rhodes, you can by accident "stop" the tine with a second key press, if you hit it in the right split second. That's why a real instrument always sounds different to a sampled. Sculpture tries to simulate this.
HOWEVER, in "the dark land", simply deactivate Objects 1 and 3, since they are so weak that they don't influence the sound at all, but especially object 3 creates some artifacts. Maybe this is your problem.

Sculpture PickUp Display doesn't work.

For some reason in sculpture my wave form display or the little green bar where the pickups are located doesn't move. Could any one tell me why this is?

Yes - you haven't read the manual...
Right click on the display -> Enable String Animation

Sculpture

Hi,
Not sure if this is a new bug in Logic Pro 9.0.1, but I can't seen to turn on the animation by right-clicking on the green string in Sculpture. (A friend who has the Logic Pro 9.0.1 update also has the same problem too). Can anybody else confirm this ? Could it have been disabled in the update possibly ? Is there a fix/solution ?

I'm also noticing that the contextual menu for copy/pasting and assigning randomize points doesn't pop up when I right click on the morph pad. Can anyone else confirm this?

Newbie sculpture question

I have just been through a very nice video training course in Sculpture, but WHERE in Logic Pro do I access/find this and other fantastic software instrument?

After selecting an Instrument track, in the channel strip at the left of your Arrange window, click and hold the rectangle directly below "I/O" and choose Stereo -> Logic -> Sculpture.

Sculpture automation & Controller assignment issues

Hey guys,
I have an instance on Sculpture in a project i am working on. Everything is fine until the point where i try to manually write some automation in the arrange window. As soon as I select the parameter i want to change (LFO1 rate in this case) the sound of sculpture gets all weird and sounds nothing like the one before.
Is this some kind of bug? has anyone encountered this?
I also have another question and as im posting this anyway ill just put it here.
Im trying to set up a nanoKontrol2. Ctrl+k, created several modes (fader, es2, ultrabeat etc). I've assigned several buttons to switch between the modes but the assigned functions wont operate until i also choose that particular instrument in the arrange window.
Is there a way around this? i.e switch bet modes and actually affect that instrument without having to use a mouse to choose it?
Im also having problems with the fader mappings when trying to control volume levels of multi output instruments exs24, ultrabeat. When i move a fader of the overall instrument only the volume of one (unassigned) fader of lets say output 3-4 of that instrument will get affected. Im i doing something wrong?

I spent a whole day following the above advice, assigning controls for my M-Audio keyrig 25 to 18 different logic native plugins (Channel EQ, Guitar Amp Pro, Tape Delay, etc etc). And then assigning'no-mode mode change' (if you follow me) to different letters on my 'caps lock keyboard'. This worked great yesterday. Now today it's all flaky: The caps lock keyboard doesn't change modes anymore, and only one of the assignment 'maps' seems to work. (Even making sure all target plug ins were on the same SELECTED track, and the plugin in question had 'focus' by clicking on it). Does anyone know if there's a known issue with controller assignment recall in Logic Pro (8)?

Sculpture morph pad-How do I get the red ball?

I just worked my way thru the Sculpture tutorial, creating a pad. Everything works except that I'm not getting the red ball in the morph pad. I do see it on other presets, but not with the sound I made from the default patch. How do I get the red ball?

Nice work. To activate the red ball, you need to activate the Morph Envelope Parameters. It's the area underneath the morph pad. Across the top there are options: "Mode", "Time Scale", "Sustain Mode". Click and hold under Mode where it says "Off". You'll get a menu of options, select "Pad only" and the red ball appears. Or you can edit the actual morph envelope to the other options.

I think the OP means 'how do I access Sculpture.' In order to access any of the software instruments, you need to create an Instrument Track, and then click on the Input for that track. There you'll find all of your instruments. I suggest you crack the Getting Started manual, and the Logic Manual, and look in the chapters that explain basic set up and basic software instrument usage.
Also, can I program stuff in it with just the computer keyboard?
If you turn caps lock on, you can use your computer keyboard as if it were a MIDI controller.

When I have a facebook as email message, I click on it, it goes to comcast Xfinity "permalink.php cannot find..." It used to go from the email to the proper facebook location."

I receive notices of facebook posts as anemail. When I open the email, I click on "see post." Normally it takes me directly to the post. Since this morning, it takes me to a Comcast Xfinity page which says "permalink.pcp cannot locate this page. Please check for proper spelling." Comcast says they do not know what it is and that I should change browsers. I tried chrome and it did the same thing. Can you help me?

You will need to provide more details as we cannot see your computer screen. Does this happen every time you launch LabVIEW? What version of LabVIEW are you using? What version of Windows? Does LabVIEW crash? If so, what were you doing at the time it crashed?

Clicking on Year view to get Week view in iCal

In the Lion version, is there any way I can double click a date and get to the 'week view' rather than the 'day view'?

Try using (⌘+C) and then (⌘+V). That action retains the event in the original, while also placing a duplicate in the new location.
If you want to remove the event from the original time, use (⌘+X), then (⌘+V) in the new time frame.

I create a birthday calendar in iCal and then click on it in iphoto at the begining of the calendar project each year. Some how the birthday did not populate the photo calendar. Is there a way to add the birthday iCal calendar into the calendar project?

If you first select the calendar on the left, so that its background is highlighted blue/grey, when you make a new events they should be added to that calendar.

Did you check the Zoom setting?
Have you tried a reset (reboot)? Hold HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears.
If it isn't Zoom and a reboot doesn't help try Settings/General/Reset - Reset all settings

I cannot change from grid view to list view when i contol click on the downloads folder on the dock am i doing something wrong? if so how do i change the ?view in the dock

when i contol click on the downloads icon in the dock i get the gris view . I thought if you control click, you are able to change the view to fan or list. am I doing something wrong.? Icheck to make sure the contol key is working by doing a screenshot and it works there. What am I doing wrong?
