Hi,
I have read in this forum that keyboard problems may be solved updating Bios. You should try it:
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=60
you can check if a new version is available for your lap:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
Note, Bios update is a tricky procedure that can finish with total system collapse if it goes wrong. Moreover, the warranty doesn't cover bios failure. Anyway, try to restore os to bring the factory setting before touching the bios

  • Electrical clicking noise through speakers when I open Final Cut ???

    Hi,
When I open Final Cut, as its opening I hear electrical clicking noises coming through my speakers.
Also when I open Log and Capture I hear several electrical clicking noises.
This just started within the past few months, I don't know if Leopard had anything to do with it?
    Does anybody have any suggestions?
    Thanks

When FCP launches, it checks out the pathways for the audio and video... like if you've set it to be connected to a DV camera, it looks for it during boot up. If it doesn't find it, it opens a window warning you it's not there.
Just open the apple menu's preferences, and change the setting somehow in the audio control panel there. that will reset it.
The other thing you might try is resetting the PMU or SMU on your machine. These guys reset the power management system wide. Might help, and won't hurt. You need to search the Support area's front page here on "PMU" or SMU to find out how to do this for your particular machine. It's different from one mac to the next... but it's easy to do.

  • Satellite L300D-11V cannot find a WLAN network

    Ok,
I have 2 x Satellite L300D-11V series laptop and both are having the same problem: they are not detecting my wireless network in my house but I have proved the wireless hub by using a third PC (HP) and works perfectly,
Ive checked the wireless switch is on and done the FN+F8 key but it still cannot find a network. I've checked the devices in the Network adaptors and it finds Realtek RTL8102E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC but this is a LAN card isn't it?
Other devices show an Unknown Device but where would I find the Wireless device?

    Hello
I don't know what kind of stories you heard in both shops but the fact is that Toshiba offers notebooks with WLAN card inside. All these notebooks are delivered with preinstalled operating system (recovery image) and have factory settings.
This recovery image contains operating system, all necessary drivers (including WLAN driver), Toshiba designed tools and utilities and some additional software. So if you buy new notebook with preinstalled OS the WLAN driver is there.
The statement from both shops is either misinformation or there is some misunderstanding.
    Hi John
Im glad to hear your problem is solved now. just for info: WLAN card in your notebook is REALTEK 802.11(B/G) 13CH-RTL8187B.
    Bye

  • Clicking noise from speakers (not HD)

Someone suggested that it could be a busted port. However, they did not tell me how likely it was that that was the issue, how I could find out, what that exactly meant, or how I could fix it.
Basically, I had my HD replaced a while ago. The computer works fine, in fact, better than before! But this constant, loud clicking noise comes from both the external and internal speakers. Right now I am using these portable speakers which I attached to the headphone jack. But I'd really like to use my Mac speakers.
When there is nothing plugged into the headphone jack. Only the clicking is audible, there is no other sound.
I know there are more knowledgeable people here who can help. All suggestions and advice will be appreciated.
P.S. Restarting to the desktop doesn't help. Also, when I restart, I get a message that looks something like this:
Incompatible device plugged into Mini-Jack. Please remove or make sure speakers are fully inserted.

Well, I bought new speakers. Thanks for nothing!

  • Satellite L300D-11V - After new installation I have few issues

I had a major crash a few weeks ago which took out the main partition on my hard drive (although the other partition seems to be fine) and I installed Windows XP Pro on a brand new hard drive with a view to installing Windows 7 in the near future.
I found some drivers which I burnt onto disc and installed them on my new hard drive but now I'm having problems with the laptop in certain areas:
    - I can't get the USB ports to work at all even though I thought I installed the correct drivers.
    - I can't access the Internet via WiFi although the Ethernet connection works fine and I thought I had installed the correct drivers.
    - The Touchpad is running really slowly and in some cases, it takes an age to click on something like a "X" button to close software or anything else...
Can anyone tell me how I can fix these problems as well as how to get my laptop fully up and running with Windows XP Pro.

Your Satellite L300D belongs to PSLC0E models. I have checked Toshiba download page and your notebook is not supported for WXP operating system.
Toshiba doesnt offer any tested driver for your notebook model.
You have installed non-supported OS and now you want to have all hardware components work perfectly. How? Should someone search drivers for you or what?
It will be better for you to use supported Vista you got as recovery image. To install Win7 is good idea and I can imagine your notebook will be supported and all necessary drivers will be available in the future.
I will do the same with my A300.

  • Satellite L300D-11V: can I run SSD in AHCI mode?

    Hi,
    I've just installed an SSD and Win7 64bit on a L300D-11V laptop.
Does anyone know if it is possible to run this in AHCI mode as I can't see the option in the BIOS?
I see there is a BIOS update but if this doesn't update to enable AHCI I'd rather not bother...

    Hi
I presume it should be possible to use the SSD drive with AHCI enabled mode.
The AHCI means that the HDD or SSD would run with SATA performance but for that you will need to install the SATA driver firstly.
If SATA mode would be set to compatible mode then a SATA driver is not necessary to install the Windows OS.
    Simply said;
    - you dont need SATA drivers using compatible mode
    - you need SATA drivers using AHCI mode
The SATA drivers are a part of the Intel Storage Manager and you could download this from Toshiba European driver or Intel page

  • Satellite L300D-11V - DVD drive disappeared

I have an L300D 11V. The DVD drive seems to have disappeared can someone suggest a way of getting replacement drive? They don't appear to be in the computer.
    thanks

    Hi
Is the drive listed in device manager or where doesnt appear the drive exactly?
If you go into BIOS, can you see the drive there?
Anyway, in your case I would try to remove the upper- and lowerfilters as you can read here:

  • Short, sharp noise from speakers when resuming from sleep

This doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes when I lift the lid on my MacBook and wake it up, I get this short, sharp 'SHHH' noise come from my speakers that lasts about a second or so just after the screen illuminates. It can sometimes happen a second time, but the sound is even quicker but quieter. I've never had a hardware fault or even a problem with OS X since I bought the machine (touches wood) but I'm simply curious.
    Thanks for any pointers

I think the same thing is happening to me. I notice that sound when my computer is waking up from sleep and I try to change the volume. It happens for a brief millisecond but it's just a nuisance.
I tried resetting the SMC two different ways (the way listed in the article and the way Apple support told me over the phone). The way Apple told me (it's similar to the way in the article but it also involves holding down option + command + the P and R keys when turning on the computer again) works briefly - like once - and then the problem comes back.
Is this happening to anyone else?

  • Noise through speakers when Airport active

    Hi,
I have a strange problem with my new MBP: When I set the Airport netwoork as active, I hear LOUD noises (sort of like a modem sound" through the speakers, this is not affected by the volume control (seeme to be at maximum all the time, very annoying)
All I can do to stop the sound is either turn Airport off or insert a dummy plug in the headphone plug...
Anyone with the same problem or any idea for a solution?
    Thanks
    Allan

I'm afraid I can't help, except to say I have the same problem with my FW 400 and 800 ports when I connect a Firewire hard drive. The noise sounds like it's coming from inside the computer itself and it happens even with the audio muted. I wonder if this problem might be related to the Firewire "noise" / "chirp" issue I've seen discussed?

  • While using Firefox when I click the mouse or when typing like this I get the Mac spinning color wheel and any action is delayed about 10 seconds.

I'm on an iMac, 10.4, Firefox 3.6.20 and the problem is occurring with greater frequency. When I installed 3.6.20, it ran perfectly for a short time, but now the spinning color wheel happens on almost every mouse click and it makes using Firefox an impossibility. I tried the Apple installed Safari and had no difficulties. It does not occur when I use Thunderbird 2.0.0.17 either. I will appreciate any help because I rely on Firefox. Thanks.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the sessionstore.js [2] file and possible sessionstore-##.js [3] files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

  • Avoid miss click in boot camp when typing

Hi! In Mac OSX there is a feature that prevent missclicking on the trackpad while typing. Is it possible to get the same feature in Bootcamp?

The percent of Windows hardware driver designers who run Windows as a Boot Camp is probably so small as to be inignificant in the total world of Windows device driver designers. So, to get your Apple trackpad to work under Windows the same way it does in OS X would require the abovementioned designer who either 1) had the same problem as you and wanted to fix it for him(her) self; or 2) saw a profit in designing and selling this device driver to Mac people who run Boot Camp.
Most probably, you yourself would have to be that person for that to occur. Since you said you're not a designer, then there's probably no chance that anyone except Apple would write the driver to make it more like OS X. That's the reason why I suggested a 3rd party alternative hardware solution, since if you wait for a software one from Apple you'll be waiting forever.
But what do I know? You can also tell Apple your feelings at http://www.apple.com/feedback/macbookair.html . Once they know they might devote resources to this project.

  • Clicking sound from speakers!

I have problem with sound but this is strange one and i can't find solution anywhere... I am pretty good with computers and i usualy find solutions on internet when i have problem but this is something i can't solve by myself... My laptop is HP 355 G2 and i have Windows 10 installed on it but the same problem was on Windows 8.1 too... So after clean installation of Win10 the sound was good and worked normaly for 2-3 days and now i only hear a clicking sound from speakers when audio is playing but the strange thing is that when i pick up laptop from the table the sound start to work for few seconds and then the clicking sound comes back again, so i suspect that this has something to do with accelerometer which is built  in laptop for hard disc parking in case of drop or something like that... I tryed to uninstal/disable driver for accelerometer but windows install it again emidiatly after reboot, i tryed clean install few times and problem apears again and again... I just don't know anymore what to try to do in order to solve this so if anyone know anything about this please help... And i forgot to say that headphone jack work normaly and when i plug the headphones or external speakers in headphones jack the sound works but the clicking sound still comes out from built  in speakers... Thanks in advance and sorry for my English, it is not my native language and there is no support forums on my native language witch is Serbian...
