Clicking on a link of a YouTube page dosn't download the video

1. '''Environment'''
PC with MS Windows XP SP3 Operating system
I use Firefox version 3.6.13
I have added the extensions:
- AutoCompletePro 1.11
- Browsing Protection 1.10
- DownloadHelper 4.8.2
- ConvertHelper 2.2
- DownThemAll 2.0
- FireUploader 0.4.5
- IDM CC 7.2.2
- Java Console 6.0.21
- Java Quick Starter 1.0
- Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 1.2.1
- RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin 1.1.5
- WOT 20100908
2. '''The Problem'''
When i make a right-click on a link of a YouTube page and from the
flying menu i select "Download Videos from YouTube link(s)" the
DownloadHelper dosn't download anything.

I have not heard of this one before... If it's due to change in My Yahoo, we'll probably accumulate more posts about it.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
* "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).
Any difference?

When I go to sites were I click on a link that will open a java script window, Firefox doesn't open the window. If I go to the same site with IE 8 and click on the same link it will open the java window. I have uninstalled java 6.3.2 and reinstalled 6.3.2 to see it that was the problem. I have also uninstalled Firefox 3.6.3 and reinstalled Firefox 3.6.3 to see if the installation had become corrupt. That has helped in the past, this time it has not.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the ''Safe mode'' start window.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")

  • I recently started to have this problem, I can view videos on youtube without any problems, but if I put a link lets say on FB, I cant view the video

I recently started to have this problem, I can view videos on youtube without any problems, but if I put a link lets say on FB, I cant view the video I can only hear the sound, its like, there even the buttons, only invisible, yet still clickable, so if I manage to find and click the full-screen button the video switch to full-screen and I can view it. this is really annoying as I cant see flash animations and some videos at all.

You need to find out what type of video it is.  What your describing is what you get when a Video codec (software that allows you to "see" the video) is missing, damaged, or too old for the movie.
Once you identify what kind of movie it is, then you can update the codec.

Ever since I downloaded the new Firefox, when I right-click on a link to open it in a different tab, the tab will open but will not load anything, no matter what link I try. The tab will show the website destination in the navigation bar, but will not automatically load it; I have to press the load button in the navigation bar instead of it instantly loading.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== The newest version, 3.6.6, of Firefox was downloaded

It's not specific sites. I can middle-click on the same link 50 times and it will open it in a new tab 45 times and 5 of those times, it will randomly open it in an entirely new window. I don't know what's causing this.
It happens so randomly that I don't know how to pin-point what it could be.

  • A Video Site I've Gone To For Years (Liveleak), Never With Firefox, When I Click To Play The Video, Downloads Box Pops Up And Says I'm Downloading The Video.

So I Go To The Site, Everything Loads Properly And Quickly, Click The Video I Want To Watch, That Video Page Comes Up, Once Again, Quickly And Properly. So I Click The Play Button To Play The Video And The "Downloads" Box For Firefox Pops Up And Shows That I'm Downloading The Video. That's Great If I Want To Download The Video, But I Don't, I Just Want To Watch It There On The Site. I Just Now Downloaded Firefox Because I've Heard So Many Great Things About It. This Site (Liveleak) Was The First Site I Went To After Downloading, So It's Of To A Bad Start With Me For Firefox. This Site Works Fine In Internet Explorer No Problems Whatsoever, So Its Not The Site.

Sounds that you are missing the plugin that is used to play those videos embedded in Firefox.<br />
Your system details list doesn't show any media player plugin, so you will either have to check if the plugin(s) are installed, but disabled or install missing plugins.
You may need the new WMP plugin (np-mswmp.dll) because Flash always uses a dedicated player to play the videos and would never offer to save videos directly unless an extension is used.

  • YouTube, moving backward re-loads the video?

    Hi,
The videos on YouTube download so slow most of the time, so I tried to let the app download the video and watch TV in the meantime, always checking the progress on the iPad though. after a long while, the video was fully loaded and I went back to the beginning of the video. But to my surprise YouTube began downloading the video again from the beginning. So there is no way watching the video because it cannot load it on-the-run (it always stops because it is so slow downloading), and I cannot go back once it has completed loading. So I have to watch my video with a 1-2 minute break every couple of seconds? Nonesense! Or am I doing something wrong?

Welcome to YouTube on the iPad. Many folks have the same problem. Some fans will comment that it's your connection and others will postulate that it's an anomaly with YouTube. For me it's neither. My connection speed is good and I have no issues with YouTube on any of the three computers I own. It's quite simply an issue with iPad or shared between YouTube and iPad. Either way it would be nice if Apple and/or YouTube would figure it out especially since Apple makes such a big deal out of claiming that YouTube and iPad are supposed to be compatible.
    Let the games begin....

  • When I click on a link within a Web page, Firefox just spins until I reload the new page.

When I enter a new URL or select a bookmark, Firefox loads the page promptly. When I click on a link within that page to go to another page, the Firefox tab green spinner often just spins and spins. It either takes a very long time to load (2 or more minutes), or never finishes loading. It's usually a greater problem when I "Open a link in a new tab". I can usually make the new page appear by reloading, either clicking the red X and the circular arrow, or Ctrl-F5, etc.

Try the Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there. <br />
    ''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.'' <br />
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
    * You can open the Firefox 4/5/6/7 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."''
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

  • When I CLICK on a link on a web page, firefox dos lot load the page in a new window. All other browsers load the page under the link. I do not have "Block poups enabled".

When I navigate to a web page that has a link, such as the link to a data sheet and click the link (usually an insert page), firefox does nothing.

Does the new window have a media player in it or use the Flash plugin for any other purposes? If so, it could be the protected mode bug described in this thread: [https://support.mozilla.org/questions/955659 Opening New Windows and Shockwave Flash]. There are some workarounds listed there.

  • When I click on a link listed on a page, the current page is replaced by that link and the original link is lost. How do I fix it?

    For example:
    If I am at
    http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/
    and I click on
    http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Quakes/quakes_all.php
the original URL is replaced by the new on, and I must reenter the old URL to get back to it.

Open the link in a new tab by:
*right-click the link and choose "Open link in New Tab"
*Ctrl+left-click the link (to open in a new tab)
*middle-click the link (to open in a new tab) (middle-click = press the mouse wheel)

  • I can't get Firefox to open a new tab each time I click on a link or favorite. It keeps loading onto the current tab.

I went to Tools>Options>Tabs and entered a check mark next to the first entry, "Open New Windows in a New Tab Instead" but it still does not open a new tab each time I click on a link or one of my favorites. It used to way back in earlier versions of Firefox but hasn't for the past few iterations...am I doing something wrong or do I need to activate something else within Firefox?

'''''"I went to Tools>Options>Tabs and entered a check mark next to the first entry, "Open New Windows in a New Tab Instead" but it still does not open a new tab each time I click on a link or one of my favorites."'''''
That option only controls pages that would open in a new window based on the code on the website page you are visiting.
Firefox's default is to open a link or a Bookmark in the currently selected tab.
You have some options to have links and/or Bookmarks open in a new tab:
*middle-click the link or Bookmark (middle-click = press the mouse scroll wheel)
    *CTRL+left-click the link or Bookmark
*right-click the link or Bookmark and choose "Open in New Tab"
*install one of the following and set the options to automatically open links or Bookmarks in a new tab:
    **'''''Tab Utilities Lite''''': https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tab-utilities-lite/
**'''''Tab Utilities''''' (a few more options than the "Lite" version): https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tab-utilities/
**'''''Tab Mix Plus''''' (a heavyweight tab utility extension): https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tab-mix-plus/
