Clicking on a link or email brings up a new tab when it should stay on existing page

Ever since I got Firefox 6, after 1-3 days of not rebooting, Firefox will start acting squirrelly: sometimes clicking on a web-based email will bring up the email in a new tab rather than on the same page. Today 1 of 2 open Firefox sessions kept changing window size (maximized to normalized, sometimes changing the size smaller when it happens. Rebooting solves the problem, so I just run System Mechanic, fix minor problems & reboot.

Found a solution to the problem. The permissions for the firefox.app file were not set to admin - read-write. After adding this permission using the get info menu item when right clicking the file name in the applications folder, the tab now automatically opens when clicking on Email link.

None of this will, in all likelihood, address your actual issue, but:
Close your resources in the reverse order you opened them. That means ResultSet, Statement and finally Connection
Speaking of finally, make sure you close your resources within a finally block. That is what they are there for. You need the resources freed regardless of whether the request was successful or not
Move the System.out.println() out of the loop. You are not connecting every time. You are fetching records every time. It is misleading.
Do not use SELECT *. Always explicitly label what columns you are selecting. Otherwise, another developer has to go to the actual table, describe it, and see what is coming out.

Why is it that sometimes when I use my middle mouse button to click on a link to open it in a new tab I will have it open it in an entirely new instance of Firefox instead of a new tab?

Occasionally when I click on a link with my middle mouse button, instead of opening the page in a new tab, it will open a new instance of Firefox.
I've looked through some of the settings and I wasn't able to find anything. It really gets to be bothersome at times because I prefer things to be in tabs instead of a new browser.

It's not specific sites. I can middle-click on the same link 50 times and it will open it in a new tab 45 times and 5 of those times, it will randomly open it in an entirely new window. I don't know what's causing this.

Particularly when I am doing a Google search, but also when I am in a site, I find I frequently have to right click and force 'open in a new tab' to avoid the link overriding the current tab. I want to have all links I click on automatically open in a new tab. My settings are set to go to the new tab immediately - that works fine - but too often I have to immediately back-page and re-click using the right-click menu to avoid losing my search or origin page. This is annoying when there are several links I want to explore, and have to backtrack to get to them.
Firefox is my default browser, 29.0.1 at the moment, and it runs on an old Dell laptop using WinXP. Before asking this I did check the available support info without finding an answer. I followed the instructions in the article about Google and the about:config but it did no good - it still defaults to opening in the current tab. Google search and other websites have a user preference that can be set to open a search result in a new tab or a new window, for users who are logged in to their website.
Otherwise, when you don't have a 3-button mouse or a scroll pad with "middle-click" functionality, you can use '''{Ctrl + Click}''' to open a hyperlink in a new Tab.

I just updated to Firefox 17.0.1 and now I can't click on a bookmark to open it or open new tab when clicking new tab button.

In FF 17.0.1 I have several bugs to mention. I am only able to open bookmarks by right clicking them and selecting Open In New Tab from the drop down menu. I am unable to open a new tab by clicking on the new tab button or by clicking open new tab from the FF drop down menu at top of browser. Also, none button work in FF, such as Home, Back, Forward, or refresh. This is so aggravating!!

After I posted this, I restarted with add ons disabled and it worked..deleted a cpl of addons for compatibility checking and that fixed it.

Waka, I have Kaspersky running 24/7 but Cor-el (from Superman, I think) gave me a list of software to try.
Cor-el, the middle click seemed to work on a page that went under, which I deleted and tried again with the wheel click.
Waka and Cor-el, I have been planning to reinstall my Windows 7 OS and upgrade it to Pro, from Home at the same time. Will possibly re-partition C: and -will- reformat it. Will have to re-install ALL my software plus some of my softwares' user information, which I have also backed up, along with favorites and many others.

Firefox 30.0 - Used to open PDF file in a new tab when clicked a link. Now new tab opens, does not show file, tab closes. How do I fix it?

I am using Firefox 30.0. I open a page that has links on it to see some PDF files. When I click on the link, Firefox use to open a new tab and display the PDF file. Now a new tab is opened, nothing gets displayed, and the new tab closes. What setting do I need to change in order to see the PDF file.

I want to be able to hold control while I click on a link to open it in a new tab. This works on chrome so why not on Firefox?

A Ctrl and left-click should work in Firefox as well.

Try closing the App Store app completely and see if it works properly when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with App Store 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the App Store app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

When I click on a link in email it doesn't open the page any longer only a blank page

when I get a link in my email (gmail) I click on it and it opens a new tab but it is blank not the page it should be.. But if I right click and open in new tab it works fine.. Chrome does not do this only Firefox.. I don't want to switch browsers but may have to if I cannot find a fix for this..

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. 
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. 
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

I just starting getting 2 windows opened every time I click on a link from email one is the link and the other is home page is there a way to correct this

I right click a link to open it in a new tab and it doesn't load the web page.

In firefox 4 I right click a link and go to open in new tab but it doesnt load the link it loads a Bing search instead. This is very frustrating, how can i fix this?
And why can't i access my add-ons? When i click add-ons it just opens a new tab.

Hello! Feature of opening link in new tab when middle-click it has just dissapeared; now, when I middle-click the link, nothing happens - no new tab, simply nothing! It's not issue with a mouse, I've tried another mouse, and it's the same, and middle click works in other browsers; right click and "Open link in new tab" (as well as other options from context menu) work properly. Edit: Errrm, I didn't know exactly how this works, so I had the idea to click "Solved it" button next to both above posts, as I really was not sure which one solved my issue; now, as I clicked the button next to first answer, I see it appears as chosen answer, and no more button next to second answer; sorry, Cor-el; thanks to both for your willingness to help anyway!
