Clicking on program icon does not launch program

I just purchased my new 21.5" iMac and when clicking on an existing app, the app does not launch. I am using the new Magic Mouse; also, when hitting enter key on highlighted app it still does not launch. Eben if I hav e Pages launched and an open doc as an icon, clicking on the icon does not open it.
It worked very well under my MPB 17" using SL 10.6.2! What gives? Do I have to return this machine already?

OK. here goes: Most of the Apple Apps, either on the dock, in the Finder (in list view or any other view), or on the Desktop do NOT respond to double-clicks to get them going!
For example, I live on Preview, yet when I double-click a PDF file, nothing happens; Preview does not load and the document does not open. I can start the document by either holding down the Control key and Open with.....
I have owned six Apple computers during the past 8 years and have never come across such weird behavior! I am really not to bugged by this as this is with a brand new iMac 21" but it would be a shame to have to return this because of this odd behavior.
I have a template of Pages on my Destiop, yet I double-click on it nothing happens; Pages does not load nor does the document open.
Other Apps do start up normally.
I powered the machine down; I ran and fixed Permissions. I do not know what else to do. I know it cannot be the MM as it works flawlessly on everything else.

Desktop Icon does not launch program on Mac after download

Purchased from Adobe via internet. Akamai interface downloaded and then Photoshop Elements 11. Both icons on Mac desktop. Double clicking on PE 11 does not launch program. Is it fully downloaded? I get Read Me file in four languages as well as a PE 11 icon after double clicking the desktop icon.

Thank you. The download directions did not include the part about double clicking the desktop Elements icon, double clicking the elements icon within the box that opened and then clicking on "install." Okay, so i am not computer savvy, but the directions gave the impression that the download was complete after following the supplied instructions. Who knew? I did not want to duplicate a download, so was apprehensive to take this action. Did it anyway out of frustration and it worked. Obviously, the application was not entirely downloaded. Now, i get to learn a whole new application as IPhoto bites! I spent hours and hours, days upon days scanning and editing old family photos in IPhoto only to learn that the program re-sorted my photo order when i tried to make copies for family. I lost my edits, lost my photo notes and had to retrieve my entire library before presenting several hundred multi generational family photos to everyone in my extended family! Hopefully, this application will be an improvement!

PSE 5 clicking icon does not open program

I had to reinstall PSE 5 on my computer [Dell Dimension E310 Windows XP]. Adobe gave me a url to download the program as my original CD did not work [nothing happened when I put the CD into my computer]I downloaded the program but when I double click the icon for PSE 5 I get what is in the program [such as images, popup, help etc.] The program itself does not open. Can you help?

PSE 5 Reinstallation
I had to reinstall PSE 5 on my computer. It is no longer supported by adobe. They gave me a file to download the program, however when I tried to open the program after the installation I got a dialog box which in the blue bar at the top which says Photoshopelements_5.0_en_us. Inside the box there is a big list of files with icons in front of them. For examle cc_01_popup or pse_get_gp etc.
If you went into "my computer" and opened program files and clicked on a program the dialog box that opened would have the same appearance.

TouchSmart button does not launch program

The "home" touch button on front of the HP TouchSmart does not launch the HP TouchSmart software anymore.
It has worked the first day, I am sure of. When the system is in sleep I can wake it with the button so it is not the hardware. I assume it must be a software problem. After the first day I have installed many software including Vista SP2, so one of them might be guilty and I prefer not to do a system rollback.
Has anyone a solution? Or does anyone knows which processes are involved with the button?

After Sleep clicking on desktop icons does not open Finder window

The Subject line says it all. This problem has occurred 3 or 4 times since installing Leopard and does not occur after every sleep. The Finder window can still be opened from the Finder toolbar. The problem can recover after another sleep.

Apple support is wonderful! The fix took a while but I was able to boot up with Shift key and make changes as directed that restored my auto logon. Downloading Lion update now which is supposed to fix the Keychain problem. If anyone else has this problem - here is the Case # for reference -

LMS 4 - Topology Services does not launch

I've just installed a LMS 4.0 and try to open the Topology Services Section to view the network, but when I click at Topology Services does not launch. I attached a picture with the message:
Steps that I've already tried (some of then base ond this forum)
- Launch Ciscoworks by name
- Use JAVA version 1.6.0_24
- Use Internet Explorer 7.0
- Use Firefox 3.6
- Restart the browser many times
- Restart the Server many times
I hope that somebody alredy seen this messagem and give a suggestion.

I would like to thanks for all of you that reply my message and try to help it, but I found the solution and explanation for my problem on this forum. The problem is related with the user that is trying to open the Topology Services, when you click on it, JAVA starts a routine where is necessary to record 3 files (.jar) at an specific directory into Java folder, and by default, the windows user for any PC has USERS privileges, so it's not possible to record any data into Java folder, so to solve the problem, is necessary to :
Go to c:\Program Files\Java and add the USERS group permission FULL CONTROL to this folder, restart the browser and after that you will be able to open the Topology Services.

All Software program in the application folder does not launch

I have a macBook Pro mid 2012. When I click on any software program in the applications folder on the sidebar, it does not launch. What do I need to do?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

After installing FF 6.02 on Windows 7, the icon does not appear on the desktop and the program does not appear in the All Programs menu

I just received a new laptop running windows 7 home premium and wanted to install Firefox on it. I tried to install the most recent version. When i installed 6.0.2, the icon did not appear on my desktop (it was a hidden file in my desktop folder) and the program group does not appear in the start menu's All Programs list. The program *does* run though, at least it did a few times. This happened whether i installed as administrator or not. Installing firefox 3.6.22, though, DID create the program group and desktop icon, and upgrading from there removed them again. installing other programs (e.g. vlc, trillian, etc.) did not cause this behavior. I also tried this both with and without McAfee's realtime protection running.

Some people have found that an app (usually iBooks for some reason) hasn't appeared on a homescreen until after the iPad has been reset and has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
Also depending on what the app is have you got an age rating set in Settings > General > Restrictions that is hiding it ?

After upgrading to iTunes 11 application does not launch and is disrupting other programs

I have trying to solve this problem all day:
After updating to iTunes 11 this morning, the application does not launch.
Furthermore, Windows Media Player, Win DVD8 and my Email Program fail to launch as well.
I have been through all support pages on iTunes, on support pages on the Windows 7 Forum, and I
read the answers given in the discussion.
I have tried and applied the solutions given, but none of them worked.
What happenes is iTunes tries to launch for a second, then stops, but the process keeps running
in the task manager.
All methods through MSCONFIG failed. Uninstalling and re-installing (in the correct order) iTunes, related
programs and QuickTime failed as well.
I am on a Windows 7 Home Premium 65 bit desktop computer.
Up until the update this morning everything was running fine.
Any suggestions are welcome.

Solved it.
I had a program running in the background, which did not get picked up by MSCONFIG.
I looked at the services on CCCleaner and there they were, many instances of this program, slowing the
computer down and preventing other programs (including iTunes) from functioning.
Turned them all off, and iTunes and all other pgms work again.

Repeated tries to install iTunes continues to fail. Installing on Acer laptop using Windows 7.

We have done the following: open Default programs, clicked associate a file type, clicked on change program button and selected a program to open with and clicked OK/enter.
The installation continues. we get to the finish window; click finish.
Next error: iTunes has been installed incorrectly.
So, what do we do to get iTunes working?

After a firefox "upgrade" was installed automatically, Firefox will not start, even in Safe mode. Clicking on the icon does nothing

You can try to disable the Java Quick starter and the Java Console extension in the Control Panel > Java.
Control Panel > Java > Advanced tab > Miscellaneous >Java Quick Starter (disable)
You can also disable the Java plugin in Firefox: Tools > Add-ons > Plugins

I am finding an error after taking the print out of Excise Invoice in Tcode J1IP.
We had a requirement where we created new output type and changed the driver program for the output assignment earlier this invoice was developed in script we changed it to a smartform. and assigned in NACE.
Its working fine we r getting the printout also after getting the print out when I goto tcode VF02 a error log is being created
when i click on the error log its showing

Zinvoice is the driver program.

This error message is quite tricky and misleading one.
Make sure in your custom program, all the logic must be in a FORM-ENDFORM.
form entry.
Logic...
endform.
this form may have any name (not needed to be only ENTRY).
The signification of the form is that this name will be given in the subroutine name in NACE transaction.
the standard program RSNAST00 which triggers all the print program dynamically.
it will fetch the name of the print program and form name from TNAPR table and calls the same.
perform (TNAPR-RONAM) in (TNAPR-PROGNAME).
At run time, the TNAPR-RONAM and progname will be filled with your z program name and the subroutine name.
