Clicking on separator / arrow in menu closes that menu

Hey. I discovered that clicking on separator or arrow (submenu title) in some menu closes that menu. Is that some way how to disable that? Sometimes I accidentally click on it.
I know it is possible to just click and drag to menu item and release, but it isn't much comfortable for big menus.

Yes, I have this exact problem. The 10.5.1 patch did not fix it.
I use my macbook pro at home and at the office for about the same amount of time every day. At home I download torrents over wifi. When I'm in the office I am connected to DSL and I do not download torrents, just relatively small files.
The KPs have only happened for me at home, with Azureus running on the wifi. I'll come back to my computer after letting it sit and my internet connection is completely dead. Like you, I click the Airport icon on the menu bar and i get the KP. This has happened 10+ times for me.
I now connect with ethernet at home and switched to Transmission and I haven't had the problem since. I'm assuming it has nothing to do with Azureus and only happens when the computer is connected via wifi.
On a side note, I am connected to the DSL at work via wifi and I have ever had the KP. This is using the machine for some downloads (sub 50mb) and constant connection and use of the wifi for 8+ hours per day.
I really hope there's a fix for this soon because there are several other people experiencing this frustrating problem as well.
My advice to you is connect to the internet via ethernet for now until there's a fix.

  • When clicking "open in new tab" a link that is on the bookmarks toolbar, but hidden (meaning that they are visible when clicking on arrows on right side) nothing happens. Actually all right click features do not work on those "hidden" bookmarks.

I have lots of bookmarks on the bookmarks toolbar, so they some are hidden on the right side, you have to click on those arrows in order to reveal those, and that's were I found out that right clicking on any of those bookmarks does not have any effect.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    * [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • I open a new tab and nothing works until I click anywhere, get redirected to a different tab, close that one, then I can follow links on tab I wanted to open.

When I open a new tab, for instance if I search on a topic and there are several sites that seem promising, I will open them in new tabs. I can scroll over the links or text on the new tab and the cursor doesn't react. The new tab has fully loaded but the cursor will not recognize text or links. Before anything will work first I have to left-click anywhere on the page. I get redirected to a new tab, invariably a trusted offer or survey. When I close that other tab, then the first tab acts normal. I scroll over it and the cursor recognizes the text and the links.

  • On my new 15" MacBook Pro (June 2011) using Calendar I click the  corner arrow to enlarge the screen.  Now it is MORE than full size.  No arrow visible to return to small size.  Menu bar can't be grabbed.  I sweep and get back to desktop. No small screen?

  • Why wont Firefox allow me to click on the top most menu bars on websites? For instance that top-most blue menu bar on facebook.

The top-most menu/options bar on websites where you could do things like log out, view your own profile, or change settings is what I was referring to. I can't click on anything up there, but I can click on everything else on the site.

That problem can be caused by the Yahoo! Toolbar or the Babylon extension that extents too much downwards and covers the top part of the browser window and thus makes links and buttons in that part of the screen not clickable.

  • Why does clicking on a tab close that page?

Usually, I am using multiple tabs and multiple instances of FF with multiple tabs also. When I go to another tab from the same browser instance, sometimes that page that I want to view again will close as if I had clicked on the "x" at the right side of the tab. I am not clicking on the "x" but near the center of the tab but the entire tab acts like I clicked on the "x" to close that page. The older versions of FF didn't do that.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • When I used mountain lion in a preview of a picture I could just press the icon that was a box with an arrow pointing up and that would allow me to share (message, email, Facebook, etc) the image.  Now in Yosemite in preview if I click the box-arrow

Found my answer in another thread-  this is what I did
GO to System Preferences > Users > Right Click on your Name > Advanced Options > and refresh your UUID
Restart your System and the widgets are all back
This solution worked fine for me!

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
    * Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
    * Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons

  • My Apple TV 2 is slow when trying to move through different menu selections. It is like a slow computer trying to catch up to mouse clicks. It eventually remembers the buttons that were pushed on the remote, but it freezes and takes a minute to catch up.

I had something similar a couple of week ago, it would scroll then stop, scroll then stop.
At some point the porblem went away.
Try unpowering and restarting your AppleTV.  Rsetart iTunes too.

If you can't delete them in the normal way in the Bookmarks Manager then you may have a problem with the file places.sqlite.

That issue can be caused by the AVG Safe Search extension

  • Instead of hitting enter to go to my desired web page I have to click on the green arrow. Why is that?

For example: If I type "yahoo.com" in the address bar at the top of my page, instead of just hitting enter I have to click on the green arrow to go to that page. Before I would only have to press enter and now it wont do anything until I click the green arrow. I tried to uninstall firefox and reinstall but it still does it.

  • HT201365 iOS 6 to save of your battery down below you double-clicked then it opened to the applications that where opened and you put finger on one and held it and then all had an X on them for you to hit each one out to close, Well how do you close them

You know with the iOS 6 to save your battery, down below you double-click then

    Thank You,
I just did, it that was great, see apple likes to just fumble you with something small like that! Even though their customer support is great!
Thank You so much, it took me a bit cause i lost my site and had to get back to the support wall, as you can tell I am not computer savvy!!

  • If I cannot "go back" when using a website I cannot close that specific tab and have to close them all. I have had to restart from scratch several times today . Having a choice of closing the last tab only would be very useful. Why can't I?

After I browsed a page in a websit, I could not close that page by using the X in the rt. hand top corner as when I did this Firefox told me that it would close all tabs. It was the only way out so I closed them and started from scratch.

    mratlasdreamz,
which app are you running when you get the annoying chime as you try to correct a typo?
If you’re sure that you have a 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo CPU and 2 GB of 667 MHz RAM, then what you have is not a MacBook Pro, but an Early 2008 MacBook (did it really cost £2000 then?) — and with that model of MacBook, you could upgrade to Lion. Whether you stay with Snow Leopard or upgrade to Lion, you might find that upgrading your RAM from 2 GB to 4 GB could be helpful.
You can confirm which model you have by selecting About This Mac on the Apple menu, clicking the “More Info…” button, then clicking on the “System Report…” button, and looking at the “Model Identifier” value in the Hardware Overview section. If you have an Early 2008 MacBook, then the model identifier will say “MacBook4,1”. If it gives a different model identifier, then include that model identifier in your reply, and we can determine which model you have, and which CPU and speed of RAM it uses.
Note that Firefox 26 still supports Snow Leopard, and that Mozilla makes no CPU recommendations for Firefox on OS X other than “an Intel x86 processor”.
